  1. Why do the same people always complain on every video. You complain about everything I don’t understand. If you hate everything about Tyt why are you even here.

  2. I see absolutely nothing wrong with protesting outside of these politicians homes.

The people whos lives they ruin cant just take a vacation from the waking hell that has been created for them, so why should the people responsible get a nice and lovely rest from the problems they create every time they go home to their family?

They need to live with the consequences of harming so many people.

  3. The members are investors, I do think as investors we should get some explanation of where our money is going. I would like to know why Hanna and Nomiki got cut.

    1. @chefwindu Yep. That’s correct. We pay for the upkeep of this whole enterprise.
At the VERY least we should get clarity on the decisions being made in the company.

By the way, chefwindu, here’s a history of the TYT Reporters I wrote up when Nomiki suddenly gets dropped from TYT in the middle of June.
I wrote it June 15th & already 2 entries are outdated: Tommie Tyhefe Bayliss & now Michael Tracey.
It captures the good, the bad, & the ugly of their time here at TYT.

All of these staff sheddings are troubling because TYT used to ALWAYS keep their staff together.
As far as I know no one was ever fired or laid off from this company before 2017 & 2018.
They used to keep their “family” together. So I’m not sure what’s going on with them now.

      John Lucas

    1. John Lucas put together a very well thought out history of TYT reporters and staff before and after the 20M. Please read it. It is long….very long…but what it brings to light is that all or most of the Watcher’s on the Wall are gone. Some quietly, others not. Most of the members have been twitchy after the $20M infusion and apparently with good reason. All of this fits in with the prohibition (in spite of the general appearance of it being no a big deal) and now the loss of Dan Rather so soon after his joining, plus the loss of Nomiki and Hanna. It’s all there.

      1. thx for link. Something feels wrong with the network. Maybe it’s just a string of unlucky events and the network is trying to save face. Maybe the network is selling out and our money was/is being wasted. If shit gets worse, I suggest moving any donations/fees to Wolf-Pac.

  4. We just went through the same god damn thing. Passed committee and when it went to senate floor a republican viciously ranted against it… Our democratic sponsor AND the Republican sponsor did nothing to defend it. NOTHING. Disgusting and obviously a bi-partisan effort to destroy the bill. WHO says dems and pewbs don’t work together.

  5. Let me start off by saying I love this show by far my favorite news program. That being said I for one won’t be giving any additional monies to tyt until decides to explain their actions on Nomiki, Hannah, and Jordan. Where is our money going to that stupid app that’s only for iPhone when the actual site doesn’t work quarter of the time. This show is supposed to be for and by the people. They owe us answers. We give you money because we believe that you’ll be open and honest with us. I hope we weren’t mistaken on that front. Was it your sponsor’s that wanted them fired the show seemed to change after they picked you up. I hope that’s not the case and it’s just in my head. You allow these thoughts to develop when you refuse to comment. Be the Young Turks I love and just be upfront and honest.

    1. I agree that we are owed an explanation. Nomiki did some incredible reporting. I think the Jordan thing has been bantered about for a long time and there seemed to be a settlement between TYT and Jordan.

That said, considering the amount of money raised at the time (about 1.5 years ago) and the number of reporters and staff that were hired, I’ll wager that the money was all used up before the firings occurred.

    2. @Joseph Here’s a history of TYT Reporters I wrote up on June 15th right as Hannah Cranston & Nomiki Konstantakis were suddenly dropped from the TYT roster.
It’s already outdated now on 2 entries: Tommie Tyhefe Bayliss & now Michael Tracey.
But it gives you the full spectrum—positive to negative—about the tenures of the TYT Reporter staff.

I am PROUD of & HAPPY for Cenk for starting the Justice Democrats & the victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
But I am also WORRIED about & ANGRY at Cenk for the odd changes TYT has made over the past 2 years.
More Justice Democrats may have won if more people trusted TYT.
And TYT’s decisions have weakened a lot of that trust.
It seems like they’re squandering their platform & at the most important time.

They need to come clean about what’s going on in this company because we know something ain’t right.

      John Lucas

  6. Republican leaders know it’s about the money but for their sycophants it’s all fear.

If the whole reason they want immigrants out of the country is because they take jobs and they cost taxpayers money, certainly it should follow that to spend billions in tax dollars fighting it is counterproductive. But anyone looking at it seriously can see that corporations and monied interests make money hand over fist on the backs of immigrants. The grift is so painfully obvious.

I guess all the cuts to education are finally paying off.

  7. On another (the same) note:
Members of TYT raised 1 million dollars so you could hire investigative reporters and less than 2 years later Jordan and Nomiki are fired. My wallet is being closed tighter and tighter during the latest actions by TYT. The Allison Harrtson deception and the expansion into YouTube TV I’m done donating to anything Cenk asks for. Maybe they have become too big for their breeches

    1. Agreed. There will be no more extra donations to TYT causes from me.

Cenk lost credibility when he continued to beg people to give money to Hartson days before June 5, essentially deceiving people with false hopes not based in reality, and withholding information critical to making informed decision.

The TYT reporters are excellent, but their content is regulated to a side-show channel, while the TYT hosts continue to spout ignorant MSM talking points, like about Korea — ignoring the very real, very well informed political commentary being brought to us by TYT reporters like Michael Tracey. Sad.

      1. @Deb-n-NCAL Well USED to be TYT reporters like Michael Tracey. He just left TYT just now.
I don’t know if you have seen this, Deb-n-NCAL, but I wrote down a history of TYT Reporters when I heard news of Nomiki Konstantakis & ThinkTank’s Hannah Cranston suddenly being dropped.
I NEVER thought I would see Nomiki dropped when she was so instrumental at TYT Politics.
And NEVER thought they would cut Hannah loose when she & John built up ThinkTank out of the ashes of TYT University. It was weird so I had to go through the histories of these people’s time at TYT to get a clearer picture.

        It’s already outdated though.
When I wrote it on June 15th, Tommie Tyhefe Bayliss & Michael Tracey were still with the company.
Things are moving fast. Cenk needs to tell the members what’s going on with all of these departures.

        John Lucas

    2. Jordan’s firing was understandable, it was a PR nightmare and probably would have broken the company if they decided to keep him.

What I don’t understand is the firing of Nomiki, hands down the best young journalist in the US right now.

      This does not bode well.

      1. No it does not. There have been way too many concessions to spread into new markets. One would hope the markets want TYT for their fire and far left goals but it seems TYT is taking the majority of the concessions and modifying behavior, stance and possibly subject matter. Much of this is supposition on my part but it seems insane to fire/let go Nomiki. Hanna is so popular I find it difficult to understand her ouster although less of a solid journalist. It seems like a move to the center in order to mollify donors in order to get more funding and reach more viewers. TYT has the viewership who have been extremely generous in a time of monetary hardship. This is very disturbing and this time, I’m not sure a simple heartfelt explanation will be enough.

  8. Has Cenk become soft? When the pitchforks are being pulled out and people walk in mass on the streets will Cenk join them or hide in behind: “We have to solve this politically”. Maybe a decent salary and his ongoing support for capitalism has softened the old man. At some point people will react to a minimum wage you can live on.

    On another note:
Members of TYT raised 1 million dollars so you could hire investigative reporters and less than 2 years later Jordan and Nomiki are fired. My wallet is being closed tighter and tighter during the latest actions by TYT. The Allison Harrtson deception and the expansion into YouTube TV I’m done donating to anything Cenk asks for. Maybe they have become too big for their breeches.

    1. Longtime TYT fan, but I’ll admit I’m a little skeptical of the 1 million they raised in the first place.

Correct me if I’m wrong but they claimed the entirety of the 1 million came from the fanbase and small donors. Somehow I really doubt that’s the case.

I know TYT army is strong, but I don’t think they have an extra million dollars floating around in these tough times of ours.

  9. On my third year here as a member and while I love Cenk’s passion he’s really holding up the information flow and details.
And I feel super guilty about enjoying the shows without Cenk more.
    THERE
    I SAID IT
    :(

  10. Hi ya’ll, perhaps I missed it, but has TYT given a statement on why they fired Nomiki? :O . Thanks!

    1. Young Turks Network Sheds Senior Employees in Staff Shakeup
On-air talents Nomiki Konst and Hannah Cranston are among those leaving
      Jon Levine | June 14, 2018 @ 2:59 PM

The Young Turks laid off at least five employees this week, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to TheWrap on Thursday. Among the departures were Nomiki Konst and Hannah Cranston — who had both been prominent on-air talents with the company.

In a statement, the company declined to confirm any specific numbers and instead lamented the “difficult decisions” required for growth.

TYT Network has continued to see tremendous growth in audience size and engagement, as well as business partnerships and sponsorships. From time to time we are faced with difficult decisions as we grow into our larger size, influence, and reach. We truly respect our colleagues as people and as professionals, which makes personnel changes difficult, even when necessary to move the company into the next phase of our evolution.

Konst, who served as an investigative reporter for the left-leaning network since 2016, told colleagues in a terse email obtained by TheWrap that she was “moving on.” In a Facebook post, she elaborated.

“Thank you to those who trusted me to share their stories. These were special stories to cover at a significant time,” she wrote. “It’s been the greatest privilege working as a correspondent for The Young Turks.”

On the same day, Hannah Cranston, who served as host and executive producer of the Young Turk’s program “ThinkTank,” tweeted that she was also leaving.

“After nearly 4 amazing years,I am moving on from ThinkTank and The Young Turks,” said Cranston. “I can’t tell you all how much I have appreciated your support.”

“Love and gratitude,” Cranston added with two heart emojis.

Cranston and Konst declined to comment for this story.

While layoffs in the media business are nothing new, the high-level departures come less than a year after the Young Turks raised $20 million and revealed aggressive plans to double their existing staff from 100 to 200 employees.

“We’ve got the content side figured out pretty well, ranked No. 1 in the news vertical in all the rankings, but it’s time to build out the rest of the business,” Cenk Uygur, the site’s co-founder and most prominent personality, told Business Insider at the time.

In more recent months, the site has been buffeted by public relations issues, including TheWrap’s report that in a blog in the early 2000s, Uygur made disparaging remarks toward women, including saying they were genetically “flawed” because they don’t want to have sex often enough.

That was followed by scrutiny of Uygur’s nephew Hasan Piker, who raised eyebrows for many of his past statements on the network, including advice to men looking to become aspiring pickup artists.

        1. You know what would be a GREAT source? TYT.

          Let’s hear TYT’s explanation. (sound of… crickets.)

Unfortunately, TYT is not sharing information with its membership about this.

      1. $20 Million was an investment, not a donation like the ones from us suckers in the journalism drive. It most definitely had strings attached with respect to return on investment (and that “return” is money and nothing else).

TYT Interviews is where most of Nomi’s work featured has a roughly $14 K annual yearly earnings (very likely less, taking demonitization and all that into account). TYT Politics is at $ 20 K, TYT investigates is even less.

        https://socialblade.com/youtube/user/tytinterviews

Entertainment networks can run off these kinds of investments, it is fundamentally impossible to have a journalism outfit (like what we thought TYT was going to be) run off investments like these, it has to be donations – either from a wealthy donor or crowdfunded.
“We’ve got the content side figured out pretty well…” – I can only put on a weak, sad smile.

        1. I understand your point about annual earnings from the TYT interviews, but that kind of reinforces the point I’ve been trying to make, which is much of the information garnered by reporters like Nomiki and Michael Tracey is solid gold, great stuff… WHY is it regulated to second-class-citizen status on a secondary channel that is not promoted enough on the Main Show?

Many of Nomiki’s interviews contained dynamite information, one-of-a-kind information that no one else was bringing to public notice. At the very least, the Main Show could have done 10-minute segments about each of Nomiki’s interviews, with abbreviated clips of the best quotes, and Cenk could add commentary etc, and urge people to go watch the full interview (for “the long read” so to speak).

Instead, the Main Show regurgitates Guardian articles or, worse, MSM talking points, including much that is either factually incorrect or omits information that we really should know about. Like Michael Tracey’s excellent interview with Tim Sherrock about Korea. That 30 minutes opened my eyes to a whole world of consequences and outlooks which no other media outlet had alerted me to. On the same day, or close to the same day, Ana went off on a long MSM-subtance rant that regurgitated all the typical things mis-informed people know about Korea. It is nutty that TYT goes to all the trouble and expense of hiring REAL reporters who are doing ground-breaking work… and then ignores them.

I never saw Nomiki’s stuff as a side-note, though that’s how TYT treated it. She was doing ground-breaking material, and the Main Show should have been covering it and applauding THEIR OWN GODDAMN REPORTER for breaking the story.

What a waste of a great talent. I’ve started following Nomi on twitter now, to make sure I don’t miss her future work.

          1. Oh, that we know by now they have no interest in – getting their journalists’ perspective and use it enrich the content of the main show. We can only speculate about the reasons, but there are two things that usually happen.

            i) All this company expansion brings with it a boatload of administrative stuff. I am pretty sure this is partly what has brought Cenk to the point where he makes really bad mistakes sometimes – he wasn’t this obviously loose on facts and conclusions always. I have seen it happen to umpteen senior colleagues – good at the hands on stuff, but when they get saddled with administration, they don’t recognize themselves degrading on the technical content, don’t get the help necessary or hand the technical stuff to the most competent people and end up harming the whole project or product.

ii) When administration is weighing you down on the content, it helps to be surrounded by people who can see it and help you improve – simply put, John and Ana aren’t those people. Plus there are other insecurities (VERY VERY often confused as being “competitive”) , related to rewards or seniority that often get in the way of being meaningfully collaborative with new but talented contributors.

I am very optimistic Nomiki will do really well in the days to come. She is smart, she has shown she can learn (activist to journalist), and at least in her strong areas (urban politics and Demparty structure and internal dynamics), she has a good historical perspective also. Also the kind of topics she covers, there are other outlets like Intercept that should be amply willing to snap her up.
When Jordan left (and I was furious over that one for a couple of reasons), I honesty thought it would be really difficult for him to come back. He covers topics of economic terrorism that even the better progressive news sources tend to completely ignore, and he does field reporting. But then, he is back, first through his Patreon, and 60 – 70 of us are pooling together resources for his field trips, funded one at a time. It’s not ideal or a super stable situation, but so far we are pulling though.
If Nomi wants to take the Patreon route, I’m sure she’ll get supporters (I know I will support her), but frankly in her case, I don’t think it will be necessary, she’ll get a decent enough offer soon.

    2. I really wish they would push out releases preemptively and not wait for fan fervor to force them to comment. I know they’re more concerned with running the place than constantly responding to outsiders, but the members are the funders! It’s surprising how bad they are at public relations considering the number of shows they put on every day.

Am also sad that Dan Rather’s show is ending.

      1. Agreed, I looked forward to Dan Rather every Monday like a cool drink of water at the end of a hot day. Will miss his insightful commentaries.

That said… the Dan Rather segments were plagued by audio problems from the get-go, and the final episode was the worst. I had to listen to it with my ear 10″ from the computer speaker at full volume. Almost like they were fading him into the sunset… “We’ll make it – so – quiet – that – you – almost – can’t – hear – anything… then you won’t notice he’s gone…………….”

  11. Stanford senator friends may have booed cadet bone spur it won’t change a damned thing. They all we fall in line because they are spinless pathetic cowards who don’t care about rule of law and the USA. If they did they would’ve condemned him for hanging a picture of him and Un. What a traitor and a coward the republicans and bone spur are. All three of my son’s served in our military and they feel cheated because they fought for freedom and it brought our beloved country this piece of shit liar. Democracy is a double edged sword
