  1. I am going to present an open, honest challenge to every single Bible-believing Christian / Catholic / etc. individual who can see this to recognize how evil all of this is to tell every single Bible-believing individual they know that they now have a stark, and important choice to make. Support Trump and cling to what we call “conservatism” today, and Republican politics, or side with God and support efforts to protect and defend these innocent children, and bring these families back together.

Not only them, but every single individual in this country should draw a line with this issue, and whomever wants to remain on the wrong side will have to live with their conscience (if they have one) for the remainder of their lives. Nobody out there should be in support of this tyrant’s policies, especially religious folks.

    1. Yeah but you don’t understanding something… they think God is the reason for him being in office and the opposition are the forces of the devil. We aren’t dealing with rational thinking people here….

  2. Thank you, Brent, for being upfront and forthcoming, by volunteering that you are “tied” with other Dems.

We know from recent experience that Cenk will not be upfront or forthcoming, when it comes to any candidate he is emotionally invested in. This is why the only stat he ever quotes about your race is from months ago, a then-poll that had you seven points ahead of the Republican. But obviously, being ahead of the Republican is moot unless you first beat your Dem rivals in the primary.

There are seven (?) Dems running for that seat. You said you are “tied.” It would be nice (and, I dunno… journalistic) of TYT to share all the full information available. What are the actual polling numbers? How man are “tied” ?

And, is that a real tie, or a “statistical tie” like the one Cenk said Alison Hartson was in with Kevin De Leon, days before the June 5 primary?

The steady diet of cherry-picked and fundamentally misleading tidbits that Cenk fed his audience leading up to the California primary has made me wary of believing anything he says about a candidate he favors. You seem like a very straight-up guy and I hope like hell you win. I am pretty sure I donated money to you, back when you were among the first Justice Democrats announced (I gave to quite a few of them, at the outset).

I just think transparency is important. Truthfulness is important. You already have a giant lead on Cenk, in that department, because you volunteered that you are “tied” with other Dems. Thank you again, for that.

    1. I could not agree with you more. Cenk needs to address this before he does to much harm. I am sitting on my money until he does. Transparency or once again down the rabbit hole with the mainstream media.

        1. I hear you and for the most part he did but what a f…… blunder. Though i still believe he did more harm than good by almost putting Alison on a pedestal.

    2. I feel the same way. I told everyone I knew about Alison and even gave 150$ toward her campaign. I’m getting laughed at by people that voted for Diane and called a head-in-the-clouds socialist because she only got 2% of the vote. For Cenk to immediately shill for another candidate after leading his listeners toward that disaster is a bit too much to swallow.

    3. Don’t think this is an official poll. Looked a lot for KS-03 primary polls, but there doesn’t seem to be one. Might be an internal one, or maybe he’s just talking about fundraising.
Very few house races have polls done on them during primaries. I myself reached out to a number of campaigns, offering to design polls and process them if they could find ways to have local media distribute them, but didn’t get much response. I think most campaigns see studying polls and adjusting to them during primaries as something too time consuming and hence not worth the time investment.

What I like about Brent so far is that he doesn’t seem complacent. There has been some coverage of him in Kansas’ local media, plus he’s been in campaigns before and seen how the sausage is made. He’s definitely no Hartson in terms of preparedness (and hopefully isn’t being “advised” by Cenk :) :) :) )

It would make me a little more assured if they didn’t keep bringing up the Kevin Yoder poll. It’s four months old, and many of his Democratic opponents weren’t in the race back then.

It was nice and almost funny when I got a text about a month or so back on a weekend morning – asking to chip in with money to buy pizza for Brent’s canvassers (am sure many others here got that too). Wouldn’t it be great if shady million dollar agreements for legislative favors could be beaten by texts to send over loose change for pizza ?

  3. New ice policy: The current administration doesn’t care about children, they care about fetuses.

  4. The reason I’m a progressive (and a Liberal/Socialist from the 60s) boils down to one basic thing. People, all People, should be the government’s priority. My general guides in life are The Golden Rule Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, Love thy neighbor as thy self (admittedly most people aren’t that thrilled with themselves but the more you show compassion to others the better you feel inside), And as long as it hurts no one else, do as you will. It all follows with what I was taught by doing the ‘right’ thing. All of the rest is noise, important noise, but noise. Greed, hoarding, hatred, violence, and the sole pursuit if money are wrong.
I’m not a practicing Christian but those values stuck. I could care less what political or social theories one professes to follow as long as our fellow people, not just citizens but all people, are the goal of any government. The Great Society was a good step forward set in motion by a very flawed man but he found his way in the end to do the right thing by the people.
TYT became a voice for these simple ideals for me in 2009. And yes I believe there have been ‘unnecessary’ deals with the devil to get further on the path of being the dominant news and cultural network both on the web and in media in general, the path to hell is paved with good intentions as my Grandmother would say, however Cenk et al are steady in their beliefs and direction. Some more than others. Jimmy Done, Ron Placone, Stef the Miserable Liberal are just a few of my favorites. I hate how money corrupts everything but it is what we must deal with for the near future. As long as we make our voices heard, whatever the response, people will be effected. I get called a conspiracy theorist all the time by my liberal friends. It’s frustrating but I do see it has been making a difference as the others start looking and thinking about what is said. It makes me feel marginally better. /rant

  5. RE: Casa Padre facility.

This is a CHIP-like setup. You can expect that the Democrats will “cave” into Trump’s demands for building the wall and then he’ll stop ripping apart immigrant families (which is after all the Democrats fault).

    THE PROCESS:
The Republicans/Trump manufacture a crisis (zero-tolerance policy) and then use it as a bargaining-chip with the Democrats.

The Democrats then look like “heroes” when they negotiate away the manufactured-crisis. However in so doing they agree to Republican policy positions as part of the negotiated agreement that would have been normally unacceptable to the Democratic base.

    OUTCOME:
It’s a political win for all parties: the Republicans get the policy that they wanted all along under the cover of the manufactured crisis and the Democrats are heroes for eliminating the crisis-du-jour while giving away our democracy. Everyone is relieved and our democracy takes one more step backward.

    THE REAL STORY:
As this farce is played out, I wonder what real crisis is being hidden by all the machinations and political maneuvering that the mainstream media is so willing to broadcast.

OK, I found it. Trump is trying to distract us about his NY Charity abuses. The abuses are classified as Civil, but they should be promoted to Criminal.

  6. I agree John, if Trump is allowed to stay on the pardon train, it is a DISASTER for future precedents.

The Brent Welder says that’s why it is SO important that Dems control the House.

So tell me then WHY no one on TYT (at least I haven’t heard yet) is talking about Ro Khanna backing the Corrupt Corporate Whore Crowley over ANOTHER JD, Ocasio-Cortez?

Cenk, you said Alison Hartson & wolf-PAC are going to help Ocasio-Cortez.
Maybe you should talk to that Fence-sitting, wishy-washy, FRAUD Ro Khanna?
Appears he thought it was more important to help that piece of shit Crowley over ANOTHER JD!!!

So far…. SILENCE on Ro Khanna from YOU, Cenk.
Is Ro too connected to TYT’s $20 mill “investors?”

    1. chetzmom, I appreciate your fire and passion, but… there is another angle to the Ro Khanna story that is important to make people aware of.

I 100% agree that his endorsement of Crowley was horrible. Ro has provided the reasons he endorsed and they can be argued against or agreed with, depending on your view. But… and here’s the BIG story,.. what happened in the hours after Ro endorsed are fascinating.

First, his twitter EXPLODED. He was inundated with responses from his own followers, ranging from distress to fury.

Second, he responded. He engaged and exchanged thoughts, throughout the day, until finally he threw in the glove — and endorsed Ocasio-Cortez also. He is now endorsing both candidates in the same race.

Most people, including me, are not satisfied and want him to revoke his endorsement of Crowley. The double-endorsement is rather farcical. No one gets to have their cake and eat it, too.

I don’t think the story is over yet. It has been fascinating watching from the peanut gallery. But no matter how you slice it, this has been a shots-fired-across-the-bow wake up call for anyone faux progressive elected.

Ro Khanna has felt the fury of his own damn base, and he will not forget. He is smart and may find ways to fool the electorate some of the time. But the message is slowly seeping into the bones of Congress… We ARE PAYING ATTENTION. And we want progressive change.

      We live in interesting times.

      1. Agreed, Deb!
But what concerns me is his initial move was to endorse Crowley. Ro didn’t endorse Alison either, did he? His first move is to endorse the Incumbent Corporatist over another Justice Dem! If he had questions on what sort of candidate Ocasio-Cortez is, or for some reason he didn’t feel comfortable with her, he should have stayed out of it. He shouldn’t have endorsed EITHER candidate. Now, by endorsing BOTH, he loses credibility. What does he really believe?

His initial go-to move is what is troubling me.
Is he a different version of Obama? A sweet-talker who says all the right things and then prevents his side from every having any real power to make REAL change in gov’t. A perfect potted plant.

Before this story blew up, Kyle on Secular Talk was framing Ro Khanna as presidential material.
THAT scares the shit out of me.
I hope Progressives do NOT let up on him, cuz we’ve seen this movie before.

    2. As to your point about TYT not covering this story… Yes, you are correct. TYT is extremely selective in withholding information that runs contrary to is own desired narrative.

Case in point: in the weeks leading up to June 5, Cenk never shared the polls that had Alison at 1% or less. He just cited said she had more volunteers than anyone, and had raised more small dollar contributions. And continued to ask for more money, telling viewers she had a real chance to make it November. I understand he is a child. But the degree of deceiving the audience that goes on here is really starting to disturb.

      1. Yes, this TYT bias is disturbing. I was foolishly hoping for a more open and transparent review of the progressive movement here rather than a cheer-leading effort. It seems that every channel has its agenda that skews its presentation of information. Where is the line between bias and propaganda?

In the end that line is not as important as my efforts to find more than a single source for my information. I need to invest in the effort to critically assess each information channel’s bias and then build my world-view for myself.

The bottom-line is that I own the effort for critical-thinking and finding the presentations that closely match the world’s reality.

        1. Agreed on all points. I revolve between a variety of news sources daily — The Intercept, Democracy Now!, The Guardian, Huff Po, TYT Politics (much better than any analysis you get on the Main show), various alternative news outlets subscribed to via email, and WaPo and the NYT when I’m feeling like a taste of extra-establishment bias to flavor the mix.

And I gotta say, if you haven’t seen MORNING JOE for a while… check it out. I don’t have tv but I watch the You Tube segments every morning. They still get much wrong — that little bespectacled Wall Street weasel with the charts is usually engaged in misleading information — but for intelligent (and frequently hilarious) criticism of both the Dems and the GOP, that show is starting to shine. The show’s response to Pruit’s need to moisturize was classic comedy. Loved Mika’s take-down of Bill Clinton over #MeToo, concluding with — “We don’t need Bill Clinton. And we don’t need Hillary, either. Time to move on.” We live in interesting times.

Maureen Dowd has her moments, and she achieved one this past week with an Op Ed entitled “Obama was Just Too Good For Us.” Don’t worry — it’s a pretty scathing criticism of O’s 8 years.

  7. Let me get this right: Cenk couldn’t elect his slate of “Justice” Democrats in CALIFORNIA, so with the help of TENTH PLACE LOSER Allison Hartson, he thinks can get a dude elected in KANSAS. Mmmk, if you say so, Cenk….

    1. There were justice democrat wins in California, it’s just that the most significant, Allison, didn’t win, neither was she expected to.

    2. The Alison Hartson candidacy has gone a lot worse than expected. The Justice Democrat project as a whole has gone better than expected, I’d say. On the whole I think this looks pretty good.

  8. So. Unrelated to this hour; I want to know what the people closest to the TyT think about this. Who here knows about the Cenk/Sam Harris well enough to feel they can pass judgment, and what’s your take?

  9. So sick of hearing fear mongering about *if* Trump pardons this person, it might signal he’s gonna pardon this other person. Or we need to take action *if* Trump fires Rosenstein or Sessions to then Fire Mueller.

Yeah those would all be bad, if he does it. And we can deal with it then. Until then it’s not news. And it’s been talked about to death already at this point. Cut it out. Allowing Trump to constantly dominate the news cycle with his shock style of politics is what propelled him to the White House. Sad that even y’all haven’t figured that out by now.

Do not let Trump constantly dominate the news cycle, every single person’s life will improve. Well minus one ;)

    1. I agree with you. If Trump is going to wrongfully pardon someone, make him do it. We’ll deal with that when it happens. Otherwise, he’s won already.

    2. Your point about Trump’s shock style politics is such a good point.

I want to be progressive for the long-term, but not a spinning top of adrenalin pushed by superficial stories and crises

My ambition for a high quality-of-life, does not include daily doses of adrenalin-fueled news reporting. For me immersion into this approach becomes negative-escapism.

Perhaps this approach is the only way to counteract Fox Propaganda News. However, from a personal point of view, it does not enrich or improve the quality-of-life that I’m seeking.

    3. All Trump wants is to see his face on the news. He doesn’t care what atrocities he has to commit to get it there. That is why he gets worse and worse. He is laughing at all of us by doing more and more disgusting things (like siding with dictators) and then sitting back and watching everyone run around pulling their hair out.

  10. I like that Brent guy. It’s 9:30 p.m. here on the west coast and I just made a one time donation for $35 to his campaign. Know what? I won’t even miss that money. I encourage everyone to consider a contribution in any amount they probably won’t miss either. Godspeed brother.

  11. I love TYT but sometimes its disappointing how many stories focus on Trump instead of progressives that can give people hope and optimism instead of dread and despair. We all know Trump is horrible along with everything he says/does so why not at least focus on one positive story that happened. I know that can be hard in this time though.

    1. I mean the news is that serious, I think that’s why they cover that stuff. They’re starting to put some lighter stories at the end of hour 2 now, and rebel HQ is always inspiring

    2. Well have you ever watched progressive headquarters, which occurs right after the main show? That might be more your speed.
