Anna, Legalizing drugs will end the violence from the Drug Cartels??!! WRONG! I think this is the first dumb ass statement you have made since i became a fan of you. I don’t agree with a lot fo your point of views but respect it. Let me tell you something, legalizing drugs will just enable a lot more corruption and access to substances that are addictive. If the USA has a problem with the drugs and drug cartels, why don’t they help out all these countries with the drug problem that is obviously spilling in to our land? and FYI, the USA is the major consumer of these drugs. There isn’t any money for the US government and the CORP devils running it, that’s why. These people are actually refugees because for the most part they are not being protected by their government. Most of the governments in these areas are corrupted by the Drugs and Drug Cartels. These are refugees and we should treat them as such. Of course, they should be vetted as well.
Unfortunately, your conservative viewpoint is not based on any facts, just a flawed world view. There are countries that have legalized drugs, such as Portugal, with money that was spent prosecuting and imprisoning people instead spent on education and health care, and drug use and overdoses have declined.
As for the cartels, how on Earth can they continue if they are unable to make profits from their largest market, the USA?
Look at states that have legalized marijuana. The black market in marijuana in those states is practically non-existent. Sure, some of that legal pot makes it way out of the states into states that still have embraced the counter-productive prohibition of pot, but that’s not really a problem in my book, because it’s led to cheaper, higher quality marijuana being available across the country, which means that there’s a better chance you can score good weed without dangerous additives.
Great response, thank you!
Wit, she didn’t authorize water boarding 83 times. From what I’ve read, she authorized waterboarding him 3 times. Still bad, but that’s a huge difference.
*wait
There are conflicting reports about this, with some sources saying what Cenk says, and more suspicious sources (official) saying what you said, or even outright denying that she was there at all for that particular captive.
Hmmmmm Religious Holiday Debate, haven’t heard that in a while.
1. When country was founded, guess what, there was no significant non Christian percentage of the population so they should have what and of course that leaves a big cultural foot print. Now being the most multi cultural society on the face of the earth what do we do, recognize 2, 3, 10 religious groups holidays – who’s going to foot the bill for that? Do we loose our vacations? Don’t create problems unless you have a solution. That’s what the GOP does, says things are bad but comes up with no solutions.
2. America has not slipped into the deplorablability of the GOP and Trump, mothers still slap their kids when they talk of grabbing women’s pussies, making jokes of dying men, grow up when someone insults them…. Stop enabling the far right by giving them credit for debasing America. GOP and Trump won due to very sophisticated PR campaign based mostly on getting people not to vote / not able to vote in critical areas, aided by the West / Democracy’s worst enemy, for generations. You’re too young to know that, but USSR enabled Hitler helping out with Poland, profiteering by shipping him mega tons of war materials he couldn’t have found other sources for and needed to attack the rest of Europe. A USSR that then used Hitler as an excuse to send an even bigger army than Germany’s to attack Scandinavia which to this day has made all Scandinavian countries soft on USSR / Russia for fear of them. However it was MOSTLY due to gaming a system originally setup to protect slavery – and that has left a massive cultural foot print.
1. you forget that there was a massive population of non-Christians when the USA was founded, probably the majority of the population, but they were slaughtered, forced off their land, had their culture violently eradicated, and had no rights.
As Ana kept saying “integration & assimilation”, all I could think was:
Yes, I know my enemies!
They’re the teachers who taught me to FIGHT me!
Compromise! Conformity! Assimilation! Submission!
Ignorance! Hypocrisy! Brutality! The elite!
All of which are American dreams!
For right wingers, assimilation means submission. Ew.

I’m stunned and amazed at your decision to parcel out the videos by story with your terrible editing track record.
Tonight’s hours are proof, right above.
Who tf is running the site and editing/production??

As a long-time resident and now citizen of Australia, I was pleased to hear Cenk call out the Administration’s attempts to help big pharma extract even greater profits by jacking up the price of medicines in other countries – in fact, most other countries – that have socialized medicine which ensures that one can get decent health care regardless of employment status. I have seen how my siblings and cousins in the US have struggled to afford health care, often staying in poor jobs so that they can receive corporate health “benefits,” which should be a right.
I was paradoxically pleased when Trump pulled the US out of the Transpacific Partnership. In principle I advocate free trade, but my cynical side tells me that the TPP would have been a level playing field only for the corporations, including big pharma, not ordinary people.
Cenk, Hillary is NOT in the woods. Bubba & Team Clintoncrat are busy ordering Tom Perez to do everything possible to STOP Progressives from taking any kind of hold in the Dem Party.
If the Dem Party doesn’t change, they will go the way of the Whigs.
Millennials don’t trust them and older Dem voters (like me) have seen their true face and so don’t like them anymore. There is NO major party for Americans who are Anti-War, Pro-Environment, Pro-Education , Pro-Worker, etc. There’s the Greens or Dem.Socialists, but they are essentially blocked from being in debates or getting any sort of public voice.
But, Bill & Hill don’t give a shit if the DNC consists of 20 people, as long as they are the king & queen of that rotting corpse. They are detestable humans and will NOT let go of an ounce of power.
I agree 100%. I too am an older Dem voter who has seen the true face of the Democratic Party… After 42 years as a registered member, it is painfully obvious to me that as a Progressive I am not wanted there. My vote is welcome but none of my priorities.
Amen Bruddah!
I watch TYT on Android TV. Please provide an Android TV app, too.
I for one and am seriously disappointed that TYT devoted no time this week to the budget cutbacks that Trump wants (including in CHIP, programs for seniors, etc). Furthermore, John Iadarola gets his nerd credentials revoked for this episode because he did not make a Borg joke ANY of the times someone said “assimilation”!
LOL @ Oliver North saying “this has never happened to a ‘civil rights’ organization”… does anyone here remember ACORN?! Ask a black person if you don’t and tell them what North said… um, yeah.
My last thought for the hour is: who hated Ana enough to sit her next to the former VICE reporter? **Hugs** for Ana :-)
VICE are all grown up now @dratheart,
& these days they do a lot of solid serious and commendable journalism on HBO
(altho’ the stories he recounted here made it sound very purile, granted)
Also, The NRA hasn’t been a civil rights organization for decades, they’re only a manufacturer’s lobbying organization. Calling them a civil rights organization is like calling Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America or any other industry lobbying group or trade association a civil rights organization. Fucking ridiculous, when are people gonna the truth?
Legalizing drugs won’t solve anything. The Mafia was strongest in the US after Alcohol ban was lifted not during it or before it and the US does not have a cartel problem like Mexico just across the border despite having a large hispanic community and the existence of cartels inside the US because there is a functioning government in the US
The South and Central American governments have a lawlessness problem that began from the very day they got their independence from Spain because they never set out to set up a government of the people by the people. Instead they set out corrupt governments to protect the elites of Spanish stock.
cult comedian Doug Stanhope explains in just 5 words his particular opinion that we should legalise all drugs ….
“you own your own meat”
…i.e. your body is intrinsically your own, so what right does the state possibly have to dictate what you can or cannot put into it?
Food for thought perhaps?
Your guy is also an avowed anarchist which is interesting since I don’t see him moving to Somalia anytime soon.
As for legalizing drugs, my point was not about legalizing them or not (I am a strict prohibitionist by the way and I include Alcohol and cigarettes), my point is that the prohibition is not the cause of violence or refugees in South and Central America.
Prohibition in the middle east, which like South and Central America produces its own supply of drugs, makes that of the US looks like child’s play (mere possession in Saudi Arabia makes you liable for capital punishment if you are a repeat offender) and yet the kind of crime and violence that exists in South and Central America does not exist in the middle east because there is a functioning state and a society that believes in the state.
“yet the kind of crime and violence that exists in South and Central America does not exist in the middle east because there is a functioning state and a society that believes in the state.” – or it’s because the society is completely and totally repressed and oppressed by the state.
Being a prohibitionist is forcing your beliefs on others. You can choose to not drink, smoke, or do drugs, but you become an oppressor when you try to legislate and control others to do as you do.
Steps. Making something better is better than doing nothing. Legalizing drugs would help reduce the influence of the for-profit prison industry, and would free millions of Americans to be able to contribute back to the economy.
At 52:25 the second hour starts here on the first hour, then eventually cuts off. No separate second hour upload either. Sad, baby.
Pardon me, the second hour was just posted. Thanks!
but only partial hr.2
Do research before you say that “occasional” check points to vehicles is ok. The Tohono O’odham Nation (2nd largest Tribe in US) shares a border with Mexico (with Tribal members in Mexico) outside of Tucson to the West and Phoenix to the North. This is a land base equivalent to the size of the State of Connecticut. I worked for the Tribe from 1997 to 2007 and frequently go back for visits. There were “occasional” check points; now there are permanent STOP points when you enter the reservation. BP (Border Patrol) pulls EVERYONE over and has for the past 4 years. If you have brown skin, you must provide papers before you can cross INTO or OFF a Federal Reservation. Imagine if you had to sit in line every day to get to work and be pulled over; how free would you feel? I saw BP chase a young man (15) with helicopters early one morning while going to work. He scared the man so bad he ran into traffic (going 60 mph) and killed the young man instantly. This has turned into a war zone in our own country and no one reports it. I respect TYT, and would hope you research this and contact the Tribe and discuss with them these situations and the topic of a Border Wall through their reservation. With Respect – X-2563 of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
Tired of Anna’s hypocrisy on the issue of cultural integration. When some NY schools starting giving a day off for Eid, she strongly criticized it and ignored that schools all get Christmas (a religious holiday) off, and that many NY area schools give a day off on some Jewish holidays. Cultural change is OK only when it comes from minorities she likes.
Do you happen to have a link to that video? I’m just curious about what her reasoning behind that opinion was. Also I would be super surprised if christmas wasn’t mentioned in a discussion about religious school days off.
Yo! Could we call a spade a spade and quit substituting ‘irony’ for downright hypocrisy?
It’s not an obsession with civility, Cenk. It’s dismay over the general acceptance and normalization of a general crudeness in our discourse and behaviour. People are not even required to do the very least in maintaining a little peace…be nice first. That chick should be reprimanded, at the very least, for speaking that way in the workplace.
Most companies hand out a ‘management directive’ about expected and required ways of conducting yourself within the culture of the company. In addition, qualified professionals generally have some professional ethics that they are expected to abide by. But of course we don’t have any of those in the WH. Everything isn’t ok…ok?
DalaiDolly, I agree. I imagine most companies have rules of conduct, especially now with weakened union influence. You assert everything is not OK. So, how bad is it?
We have a White House communications official callously mocking a dying Senator of the same party as the President. We have an employer, who did not condemn the insensitive statement and did not reprimand the tactless employee. Perhaps, this indicates Sadler lacks empathy, and the White House does not encourage this quality in employees working on illegal immigration policy. I would expect a lack of empathy from a White House that no longer believes its mission is to serve its people.
If you have any additional insight, I would like to read them.
