  1. The Yale story is far from the common case of discrimination and distrust of black America, and there are important lessons to be learnt.
The lady who called the cops on the black student is an individual of extraordinary and uniquely diverse scholastic intelligence – engineering, law and philosophy is probably the most unique combination I can think of. This unfortunately comes with a troubled past of an oppressive religious upbringing, social incompatibility and depression. As per her life and her own description of her childhood and youth, she is a person of sharp reasoning abilities and survival instincts and low on emotional intelligence and empathy.

If we go through her posts on free speech, hate crimes, and intersectionality of religious practices and women’s rights, what we see is an aggressive and almost paranoid approach when it comes to protection of women’s rights. The primary driver is her own experiences, and that sets up her logical train. What else her proposed line of action is doing becomes secondary, and often expendable.
That is why in the same piece, she criticizes hate crime legislation as legislating thought (and rightly so), but doesn’t realize that interpreting the act of wearing a niqab in an American college campus (where you are not forced or required to do so) as an act of promoting segregation of women is as much an act of taking a thought and extrapolating to supposed consequence, without adequate justification.

Although she has a very unique kind of intelligence and mental make, the thought and action process isn’t different in so many spheres of identity politics in America. Your circumstance and related insecurities becomes a jumping off point for aggression against a **supposed opponent**. How many prominent feminists did we see trying to aggressively promote Clinton through ridiculous mischaracterization and sometimes outright lying about the Sanders record and message ? I don’t think they are all stupid enough to not realize what the two campaigns meant for the working poor, but that very important consequence on a large and largely powerless chunk of the population simply became secondary to their personal hotspots. That is not a mindset of fairness or equality, but one of aggressive selfishness and tribalism characteristic of the right wing. Worse still, it gives NOBODY other than the ones that think like themselves a reason to join their cause.

There are a lot of bad things in every religion. We are supposed to be tolerant towards people of a religion for the simple reason that the person is not his/her religion, but an individual first, unique from the herd identity. Same goes with ethnic culture, same goes with gender identity (although I do think women are kinder and nicer human beings :) ). The right way is to minimize the identity, maximize the individual and look at the community in a way detached from it’s religious, race or gender related features.

  2. I’m so pissed off that poor lady got a life without parole for a non violent crime and my rapist only got one year for rape, sodomy attempted murder and battery this is so wrong.

  3. so I’m watching hour two on Friday andd the stream ends, kicks me off, then I can’t access it anymore until yalll decide to post it… so over this shit

  4. When that person asked if we can cast from the app, they meant if we can play it on our tv from our phone. Chrome cast, etc. Any word on if that’s coming soon?

        1. otherwise I will continue to cast via youtube and never use the app… HELP US CUT OUT YOUTUBE THE BASTARDS

  5. I feel like America needs a bunch of “Meet a black person” outreach groups just to show scared people that blacks are just regular folk like everyone else. Same with Muslims.
So many “while black” stories lately, it’s like we’re trying to fill the alphabet: AirBnb, Backyard with a cellphone, College tours, Denny’s, … Moving in, … , Starbucks,… Yale

  6. I don’t know how Yale dorms work, but the dorm at my collage to get you had to check in. So, not just anyone could be in the dorm. Even if you wanted to be in a common room you had to check in and you had to check in any friends you brought in the building.
So, it to me it seems strange that the accuser would even question someone in the common room.

  7. Yale story: What are the cops supposed to do? They don’t know any of these people (presumably), how do they know who to believe? I mean I agree with Cenk, BOTH students should have to prove they are allowed to be there when the cops arrive (the accuser as well not just the black student). But look, isn’t Yale in Connecticut? They have some bad crime areas and gang areas all very nearby and it was 1:30 AM, and this white student was by herself, maybe she felt (legitimately or not) afraid or threatened – she isn’t automatically insane for being safe by telling someone to make sure. The black woman involved didn’t have to get all uppity and start calling people mentally ill and such – they only wanted to see her ID (which she should have on her – aren’t the ID’s chipped to allow access to the doors and such after hours? But look if the black student has some history with the woman or her friend does and she really feels persecuted then she can file a civil suit or a small claims court case and pursue it there in the legal system. I think it’s irresponsible of TYT to make it sound like this poor woman has no recourse or legal remedy to this harassment (if that’s what it was).

Alice Johnson/Kim Kardashian: Ok now I googled Alice Johnson and all the articles I saw only told me what TYT just did, that Johnson was given a life sentence for a “non-violent drug offense” but NOT the details. Is the sentence too high? Probably, but I want to know the details AND why TYT is not telling us the details. If this woman was SELLING drugs, say outside an elementary school to kids a dozen of whom later go onto to die because she cut the drugs with bleach powder or something, then that would earn the life sentence. I want to hear the details of the crime before I automatically get on the “all non-violent crimes related to drugs should just get you a $50 ticket and 2 hours community service” TYT bandwagon here.

    1. If you watch the entire long video, you will see she’s calling her insane because the white student has called the cops on one of the black student’s friends for no reason. When the cops looked at her ID in this instance that wasn’t enough. They claimed it was expired and/ or wasn’t in the system. The cops were doing their job; but it’s harassment in the black student’s viewpoint because in her experience the white student is using the police to harass black students she feels do not belong there. I guarantee you if it was another white student napping she would not have felt so unsafe as to call the cops.

      1. This is not the first dratheart comment to make me think we have a bit of a racist in our midst, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

  8. That supremacist group this douche reached out to to kill his neighbor clearly has an informant in it’s midst. Probably some redneck facing serious drug charges, turned govt snitch.

  9. Will TYT be providing voting suggestions for the mid term elections in California? Judges, School, County, State Measures, Governor?

  10. The question about the Nazis “going on” had to do with their economic might. The criminal Nazi regime could only get their hands on a finite amount of material and labor. As the war progressed, resources on all sides were draining, but the Nazi resources quicker than Russian resources. Then, the U.S. enters the war with vast resources. At this point, the war is over because it is just a matter of time before Wehrmacht tank production stops and Luftwaffe fighters can no longer fly.

    1. Yeah. Let’s also consider all the resources they could have saved by not interning and murdering millions of people. No. We all know what that man meant when he said they didn’t go far enough. It sure didn’t mean anything economical.

  11. Cenk, Matthew Kenney seemed to be asking if he could cast the show from the TYT app on his phone to his big screen TV.
