TYT Hour 2 April 24, 2018

In The Young Turks Hour 2 - On Demand by Zoe J39 Comments

Cenk , Brett Erlich, Kim Horcher with another story out of Waffle House, an Alabama woman was tackled and threatened by Police the the restaurant over a 50 cent plastic utensil. A group of Black women from the group Sisters in the Fairway were kicked off of a golf course for “breaking the rules”. An indecent promposal, that worked. NRA members are blowing up their YETI coolers in protest, over losing a discount. EPA transparency policy was posted online and taken down within a few days.

  1. Is there any info or documentation out there that explains what the US (and Canada) WILL classify as terrorism? Does it have to represent an external national threat? Because that’s about the only time I can imagine these shootings not counting. It’s an internal threat, not external? Does that matter? I’m just attempted to rationalize why this keeps being classified as not terrorism, and am hesitant to accept simple xenophobia… even though it’s absolutely possible it’s the only reason.

  2. Honestly Cenk I feel some type of way about this Kanye coverage and this incredible “hit” job TYT is taking out on him, look you dont agree politically OK?! Stop attacking this man’s music because you dont like it….because the black community does we will argue lyrically and producing wise hes one of the best, just because you listen to rap doesnt mean you understand it, just because you like Kendrick and J. Cole because you feel they reliever a message doesnt mean the next guys music sucks because it’s not political, stop attacking his clothing line again you dont like it but we support our own, he is a mentally challenged dude (not special but has mental demons) he is going through shit but this constant hes dumb hes an idiot hes this and that is pissing me off. HE is not a fame whore because hes married to a kardashian, hes has not done anything to earn this vitriol hes no Stacy Dash, go after Justin Timberlake the same way he does stupid shit and says stupid shit and supports stupidity sometimes he is a culture appropriator and then hides when injustice happens, like you want to show you’re not biased or racist but when you cover black celebrities or public figures your goddamn tone is the SAME as the otherside…..and I fucking love TYT and I’m a member and I support you guys but its getting on my fucking nerves……the end.

  3. How dumb are kids today that they even need to make a sign to ask someone to prom but also to put that on there and think it’s okay?

  4. I was disappointed enough in the covering of the story that I was planning to comment anyway, but after having read this comment, I’m thoroughly confused. I hadn’t read anything about this story and the reporting of this story was not very clear.

  5. PS- It also seems like in the last year Brett has really stepped up to fill in on multiple shows and running main show hours, at least to me. Brett’s really ready to be moved into “The A-List Team” instead of the B-List folks, does anyone else agree? Either way kudos also to Brett & I hope Cenk’s noticed how cool Brett is now!

    1. I agree. I was not impressed with Brett on a show lead by Ana last year. Brett and Hasan were out off control and disrespectful yo Ana.

It seems there has been considerable change and I more and more impressed by Brett.

  6. Normal I get mad at whine for hours when Ana isn’t here BUT I cannot be mad when they brought back my lovely Kim Horcher :-) I love ya’ Kim and all your awesome “Nerd Alert” stories that keep me up-to-date with the cool kids! Thanks for all your hard work and remember, be confident! You got this chica!

  7. I am really disappointed in Cenk and the YT coverage of the Waffle House arrest. Other news outlets covered the full story and did not just rely on the mother’s claims (who was not present during the arrest) about how it started. Other witnesses told police that she threatened to shoot up the place. Security video also confirms that before this video she was belligerent toward the employees. It also seems that given the time, late Saturday night, and other visual evidence that the woman was drunk. The dispute was over the cost of plastic utensils. Waffle House makes people pay for plastic utensils if they eat at the restaurant. She got loud about paying for the plastic utensils and at one point said she might use a gun, so the employee canceled her order. This context makes the arrest more understandable.

The police could have been more patient with the women. We also don’t know how long they tried to get her to leave.

    1. 3 trained cops can’t remove 1 small woman from a location without pulling her boobs out like a Foxy Brown brawl and threatening serious assault ?
      – mafia goons would be ashamed at that debacle,
whatever she had done to deserve arrest or not.

  8. the stupid git with the prom sign is currently 100% racist. as he ages and his scope of life experience grows, lets hope he will realise this. there are millions of kids growing up in similar environments and most of them will grow to denounce their old self beliefs, and question their teachers, peers and parents. lets hope they grow to teach their children differently.

just because he is fucking stupid and ‘knows not what he does’, doesn’t mean it is not racist

  9. That kid who made the sign is so typical.
I’m black, but I live in a predominantly white area in Suburbs/ country.
Naturally, I made friends with white kids when I was in school.
This kind of stuff was an everyday reality for me, especially in high school.
I don’t know why they find racism so funny. It’s just something you have to deal with and forget about after a while.
It’s not that they are racist (I hope), but it seems that the whole notion of racism is funny?… and somehow overblown to them.
I don’t really get why, but I guess its a common thing

    1. That was, literally, the first thing I noticed about this hour. I was like “She’s wearing an N7 shirt! SWEET!”

    1. I was wondering if the girl had a best friend named, or nicknamed, Cotton. That would make more sense than the sign by itself.

  10. I used to listen to NPR all the time, but I stopped because of how they covered (or didn’t cover) Bernie during the primaries. Their establishment bias became so painfully obvious.

  11. :-) I’m coming to see you on Thursday at Yale. My daughter (just turned 12) insisted that she has to go with me so she can see Cenk. So apparently it’s now going to be a family affair.

  12. fyi special election arizona rep 52% to 47% dem. interesting that 140000 did not receive their voter id cards

    1. it is depressing @thaibob, that voter suppression is relegated to a footnote in a comments section. anyone who thinks they live in a democracy any more is deluded

i fear Chris Hedges is correct in saying there has been a soft coup (coo?) by the powerful elites, its over and they have won.

as much as i respect their values & commitment, i fear no amount of wolf-pac or justice dems can overcome the imminent decline of the USA to a toxic combination of big brother and idiocracy.

  13. Why would it be the responsibility of the school to get involved with the kid’s dumb prom invite? What happened to parents teaching morality, ethics, social behaviour and simple manners? Sure, it’s an invite to prom, but so what? I don’t see why the school is getting involved at all.

The kid should feel foolish and stupid, and so should his parents. And if this was learned behaviour from his parents, they should be shamed. But I still no reason for the school’s involvement here. This about being raised to be a decent person. If the parents are failing in their duty; their obligation, then take them to task.

  14. Sorry guys, not innocent. Racist. How racist is this kid? We don’t know that answer, but hopefully this is a teachable moment.
