Dan Rather:  March for Our Lives vs. the NRA

Comments

  1. Still waiting for last night’s show to post on podcasts and the TYT page.

These need to go up faster, they are too good to miss!

  2. GET RATHERED!
Damn, baceman007…I tip my hat to you (oh, and save me a medium t-shirt:)
Gosh, why has it taken me so long to check in on the DAN show? Why did I think his hiring was a lame stunt?
Cenk and company, please accept my apology: THIS IS A CLASSIC!
I love everything about this show: DON’T CHANGE A THING!

  3. I think Dan Rather’s style needs to be turned into a verb, like “Rathered.” For example, when he talks about Remington ads which were, “Targeting Insecure Man-Children who believed Remington’s new ads, promising them guns would make them men.” My response was, “Damn gun makers and the NRA, you just got Rathered!” Still, he runs a pretty high-end show, so I doubt my wish will come true :). Anyway, I love his pacing, and how, like a brilliant tactician, he waits for the right moment, after backing it up with lots and lots of facts and perfect arguments, to deliver a knock out blow. Keep up the good work Dan :).

  4. Damn, it’s great watching, but listening is a complete joy. You take me back to the halcyon days of Cronkite, Facenda, Huntley & Brinkley, Frank Reynolds, Linda Ellerbee… when news was something completely different to us than it is now. Stay strong, but, for christ sake, stay with us a looong time.

  5. They said they’re doing a “technical upgrade”. They’ve been talking about moving the studio into the space next door for months. Perhaps the upgrade isn’t as simple as people are assuming.

  6. There will come a day when we redraw the tribes of man: those who respect the law, and those who defy it. That covers the only ‘us’ or ‘them’ that matters.

  7. They told us Thursday that they would not be on Friday. They told us they were doing some work in the studio. I would assume that A. It was unavoidable, since no news station would willingly miss a day. And B. That that is the same reason they are not on today.
What I would like to know is how ONE incident makes them selfish and greedy? Especially since you said it before you even knew what was going on? We’re supposed to be the rational ones people! Calm down. Good grief.

  8. Mr. Rather, Thank you! There is so much packed into your twenty-five minutes that I plan to make it my routine to listen to each broadcast several times during the week. You definitely focus on the important rather than the sensational and that makes it sensational to listen to.

      1. Don’t you wish TYT had an up vote (for agreeing with a comment)? I would up vote at least 8 of the previous comments…I enjoy the comments, even the angry ones…

  9. His voice is soothing enough to where I can both listen and do work. Rather is my calming before my colorful storm of Cenk.

  10. Thank you Mr. Rather. My son didn’t grow up with you, but he listened to you tonight with me. He was very impressed with you.

  11. Yes those young people showed an apathetic, complacent, largely ignorant and brainwashed adult America what it takes to make a stand and create a better world. They minced no words about a corrupt American government that refuses to listen to the wishes of the people and has sold out to big corporate money like that of the NRA. They told the corrupt political swamp in Washington, if you keep ignoring our demands for safety in our schools and also in the poor, mostly black and Latino neighborhoods like in South Chicago, WE WILL VOTE YOU OUT!
Thanks to Amy Goodman and democracynow.org I was able to witness the impressive, massive Washington protest. As for TYT? Did they go on vacation like Trump did at Mar-a-Largo?

  12. Amazing! The commentary on Remington was fantastic, I could not stay seated.

This man is playing chess, thank you!

  13. You may be able to report but TYT treats its members poorly at best. Cares more for views than members. No show, No answers, no communication..

    1. I emailed about the no show on Friday and they didn’t respond until Sunday evening… And now nothing today? WTF?

    2. If you want updates, twitter is your best bet.

TYT is more incompetent/underfunded rather than malicious, used to running with a shoe string budget. The organization is made more of people drawn by the cause instead of drawn because of technical ability. This website is decades old technology wise. You can’t even edit your posts or report spam. Their reddit forum is dead. Their facebook feed is days behind except for live events. I really hope they hire/upgrade web managers.
