  1. My issue with censorship is the principle! If you are a truly progressive media, you should be able to say whatever the hell you want. Period. Members subscribe monthly to support independent media, and we want a return on our investment. If you want to edit out the cursing for other platforms that have invested in you, HIRE ANOTHER EDITOR with the funds you have acquired them. I love TYT, I have grown to trust them; however, I will also point out when they are wrong. Fuck censorship. That is all (sidebar: these are my opinions, no argument necessary, carry on)

  2. femininity and masculinity are social constructs, that need torn down. People should be comfortable in their on skin activities, jobs , colour. Clothing dont have gender yet we are obsessed with assigning them to gender. Ie pink girly or chopping wood is manly. This sort of thinking doesn’t not only lead to sexistfemininity and masculinity are social constructs, that need torn down. People should be comfortable in their on skin activities, jobs , colour. Clothing dont have gender yet we are obsessed with assigning them to gender. Ie pink girly or chopping wood is manly. This sort of thinking doesn’t not only lead to sexist, discrimination of women but also dangerous for men. Alot of male suicide could of been prevented if we didnt tell heterosexual males to man up on difficult situations which can lead to them bottling up there feeling which can lead to depression. , discrimination of women but also dangerous for men. Alot of male suicide could of been prevented if we didnt tell heterosexual males to man up on difficult situations which can lead to them bottling up there feeling which can lead to depression. Masculinity seam to also be associated with being superior over femininity when in fact the assigned characteristics of each are just different. One thing i never understand is the phrase grow some balls or in reference to toughness when infact testicles are extremely sensitive to pain with in comparison to what females genitals go through giving birth.

  3. I know Anna doesn’t read comments so can someone tell her that her curly ponytail is so cute! <3

  4. I don’t care about them stopping their cursing on the main show, but limiting their expression on member’s only is fucking bogus.

The only way I can understand it is if somehow these new platforms will be connected to TYT membership so you can access member content there.

However, that seems like a bad idea. They have breaks in the post game now, no cursing in the post game. I want them to rant and curse to their heart’s content on the post game without interruptions.

I mean, I can maybe understand if they aren’t cursing in the PG to form a habit and not because they’re marketing it elsewhere. But the breaks really disappoint me.

I want some answers on breaks in the PG, and it saddens me they won’t give them to us.

    1. Agree, miss the passion behind the cussing.. it was like hearing my own thoughts when they would go on tirades.

    2. They did give you answers about the “breaks.” Their content is being offered on a television broadcast which has commercials so they have to insert break points for those commercials. Members however do not see any pauses, breaks etc. You don’t notice it so I don’t understand why you’re complaining.
The no cursing (which is really only a few curse words) I get, yeah it was another way to see the passion but I think the message is more important and if airing on other media platforms gets the message out further then I’m ok with it.
Lastly, why would members need access to those other platforms if you can access everything right here?

  5. it’s amazing how few people in this comment thread don’t understand the insidious corruption of corporate money doesn’t just taint politicians …

“they’re expanding their reach” but if they’re willing to sacrifice something as innocuous as cursing for a price … what about everything else? the cursing is just the obvious influence – the influence you WON’T notice is what stories they somehow don’t think is ‘worth covering’ … anyone notice how much they are sounding like MSM these days … ever ask yourself why? I’ve been watching for years – off and on nearly ten of them … recently had an opportunity to become a member and they decide to go corporate – the change is jarring to me but apparently most of you fit into that inaccurate analogy Cenk likes to make about boiling frogs … you are so enamored with your investment you close your eyes to what is happening right in front of you …

they can NO LONGER call themselves ‘independent media answerable only to our members’ … they’re NOT answering to their members – they’re bowing to corporate rule …. again … the cursing is just the obvious influence – your heroes are tainted with the stench of corporate money kids …

get corporate money OUT of your media … it corrupts there too ;-) …

    1. just as a more close to news example … many of you may be aware of YouTube’s crack down on talking about controversial subjects – taking down or demonetizing over things like reporting on terrorism … funny – it seems that TYT used to report on the activities of terrorists more often then they do now … oh they talk about the stuff that’s being discussed in MSM while it’s ‘okay’ to talk about it … but they don’t so much cover the stuff that happens in Iraq etc anymore … I wonder if it’s kissing YouTube’s ass in an effort to not get demonitized? why don’t they talk about what YouTube is doing to ACTUAL independent media? why did they only give a glancing mention to adpocolypse? corporate influence? afraid to anger their REAL owners? …

keep this in mind as you defend TYT and their lie of being ‘independent media’ … remember that whenever you see that ad where Ana says she only answers to their members … ;-) …

I love what TYT says it stands for … that’s why I’m going to remain vocal about how they’re lying to you …

  6. RE The cop having his ex-wife and her friends arrested. The panel is dead wrong about the judge. The judge is also at fault for issuing that BS warrant. They’re not supposed to be rubber stamps for the cops. (Well, at least in theory they’re not.) Each application being a judge is supposed to be assessed on its merits. Just deferring to whomever a cop says should be arrested is a dereliction of the judge’s duty to represent the interest of the people in his jurisdiction.

This is one of the biggest problems in the legal system. LEOs get the benefit of the doubt in every situation from judges and prosectors even when they are acting with malicious intent.

  7. P.S. Aida Rodriguez I absolutely ❤️You!!! Love the rest of you all as well, but I always enjoy your input.

  8. Just my opinion: the cussing is quite refreshing and I miss that feeling of a decompressing environment. Cussing is not a reflection on your intelligence nor lack of control unless you have zero ability to master your dominant language. Being offended by a word only shows your lack of grasping the history of languages where words we use liberally today were considered curse words at one time. Seems to me that one should address the mental programming that has been instilled from a very early age. And sometimes it feels fucking great to say a goddamn cuss word.

  9. An alpha-male serves in WWII, comes home with a bullet permanently lodge in his elbow, malaria, jungle rot and lifetime nightmares. Then gets up everyday and goes to a physically draining factory job, puts up with the constant bullying of supervisors when he could break them in half, because he needed that job to feed his 4 children. He stands like tree to protect his family, at times physically, then goes to the kitchen with his wife and children and bakes cookies. He was my Dad.

  10. Did anyone else catch our very own Amberia Allen making her network debut on Colbert this week?

Bravo for Amberia. She did great and the audience response was great.

  11. Frankly, I’d be much happier if the country just grew up a little. We have almost daily mass shootings, yet, saying shit, fuck, or other VULGARISMS, is the worst thing media above this level can see. Aren’t the rest of you tired of being treated like five year olds who repeat mommy saying “fuck” in the grocery store and get spanked for it? I am.

    1. Actually it is the vulgarisms that are childish, not to mention boring. The occasional shit or fuck when appropriate for emphasis is one thing. But continuously using such a limited vocabulary does disservice to communication, and robs discussion of nuance and complexity. There’s a reason great thinkers throughout history did not write screeds comprised of endless swear words.

      1. Those words are never appropriate because they are proof of lack of self-control. Most acts of violence are because of lack of self-control.

        1. That indictment is too broad.

For one thing, if it were true, it would mean that none of the TYT hosts have had any self-control for past 10-15 years. I have been known to use swear words myself, and I’ve not lost self-control in any unusual or significant way.

Words are just words, but smart people understand when using certain words is effective verses when it will have counter-effective consequences.

It is easy to fall into speech patterns, especially when surrounded by people who talk that way. I worry that young people growing up believing these words are acceptable in everyday speech are rendering themselves un-employable. Certainly you cannot talk that way in any large business environment, or you will quickly find yourself out the door. I hope the TYT transition encourages some people to re-think their own speech patterns.

More interestingly, I’ll be curious to see if the swear-word ban leads our TYT folks to come up with more interesting adjectives and more thoughtful discussions.

    2. oh my there are some small minded prudes in this comment thread who don’t understand that curse words are only curse words because the rich didn’t like the language of the masses … they believe that those that use words like fuck and shit are ignorant peasants with no self control – when those that use these words are probably far smarter and more insightful then these tight lipped authoritarians who disparage those that are free because they can’t get their own heads out of their asses

science sweethearts – shows people who swear are MORE intelligent than people who don’t – which is probably why people who don’t – don’t like them ;-) https://www.sciencealert.com/swearing-is-a-sign-of-more-intelligence-not-less-say-scientists

      1. the flaw in this argument is the vast number of extremely stupid people who use swear words constantly.

  12. I liked having Aida on, personally. BUT I will say that’s past time for Amberia & Grace to get some air-time in the main show. Pretty please? For me, Jimmy added almost nothing to hour 1, and Nando added almost nothing to hour 2. And I think I’ve figured out why they’d stopped doing 4-person power panels – because the more people you go to for comments on one story the longer each segment becomes and the less stories you can get to. Does that sound about right to anyone else? Full disclosure, I complained when they went down to 3 on a panel instead of 4, but (especially when not everyone is really adding an important perspective to the stories) perhaps we should go back to 3, unless they extend the show by 30 mins or so on Fridays.

I also have to comment that I loved how many shots of the TYT iguana we got in this show =)

  13. That lady on FOX who married the lumberjack/congressman is Rachel Campos from MTV’s the Real World (Season 3 San Franscisco) and she actually met her husband before he was a congressman, on MTV Road Rules, in the late 90s.

    1. I can hardly get over FB photos from my college years and this chick probably puked her body weight on TV, and then managed to get a job like that. What?

  14. This was all addressed on an episode of AP 2 or 3 weeks back. They are going to new platforms that have commercials which is why they are doing the breaks in the PG and OS. These new platforms also dont allow cussing so the editors have to go through and insert a bleep. Steve Oh is the one that asked everyone to cut back on the cursing to help out those guys as well as the show on the new platforms not being a bunch of redacted beeps. This constant and concerted effort to split the left by posing as the most woke guy in the room is as transparent as CTRs bot army in the primary, and just as effective cuz if they sold out to corporations they arent very good at it considering the stories i see every day and current poll they have up.

  15. Oh, and on the “beta cuck” topic….pepe the frog was originally a 4chan meme that spread. Most often used on the /r9k board as a flag for other losers. He was also known as “feel frog” and routinely posted by “wizards” (an in joke that men who remain virgins past the age of 30 achieve “wizard” status)
The alt-right picked up on this disenfranchisement among those who hate women and began using the meme as a way to relate to the “betas” who couldnt get their dicks wet as a means towards steering them towards trump.
Another classic case of alt right projectionism, eventually, like all good memes do, it transcended the shithole that is the worst of 4chan and became mainstream.
PS: The creator of the original comic is suing infowars for using his IP on their merchandise, and it looks like he has a pretty strong case because he has settled copyright infringement cases in the past.
    https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/07/us/pepe-frog-infowars-lawsuit-matt-furie-trnd/index.html

    1. And I forgot to mention, you can share most IPs for free, once you start monetizing shit you dont own, that’s when it becomes actionable.
I could share micky mouse, calvin and hobbes, or garfield comics on my personal social media all day long. If I put it on a product and tried to make a buck off it, I would face a legal shitstorm for copyright violation.

  16. Think about it. If they don’t curse anymore, the show is more accessible to for people might have to avoid the show due to cursing. Parents that are concerned about this, for example, can watch TYT with their children in the room and raise woke af kids. It’s not a corporate thing. I assumed the former, as stated above. High school civics and gov teachers can now use some of these clips to engage students in discourse. If the cursing were there, they could not. I love me a good swear word, but I can see this decision being reaching in order to broaden TYTs scope.

    So basically, chill out.

    1. why are they doing it for members only content? why are they putting commercial breaks in the Post Game show? this isn’t about catering to anyone’s fucking kids …

    2. Honestly who gives a fuck. I have a curse word in my fucking screenname and dont give a shit. Maybe they are trying to make the brand more eloquent, or maybe they signed a deal with a medium with language restrictions such as a terrestrial radio station, or maybe they picked up a sponsor that doesnt want their brand associated with trashmouthes.

Shit, Stern lost all of his edge when he went to satellite radio, half of his entertainment factor was the dance he did around the FCC. I wonder if the main live show has a delay and a dump button now.

If the lack of cursing bothers you, grow the fuck up. I dont have to swear to make a point, it’s just easier. Maybe they’re stepping up their game, or as you said, want to make themselves more accessible to a broader audience.
“Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.”

      1. Yeah when kids are lucky to not get SHOT while at school I don’t see what the big deal about the cursing is, even though I generally find cursing vulgar myself (though I realize that opinion isn’t shared by many or most here). When I was in High School (and these were all honors, AP, or year-early courses) there was one kid sorta-kinda in our “clique” and his mo was a total Christian nutcase who’d mark all the cuss words out of his books. Like when we had to buy copies of classic novels to read as homework and such, and it would always embarrass him when we had to read aloud in class and got to a word a word that his mom had censored and he’d just have to say “expletive” or “bleep” instead of that word. Many that kid got picked on!

    3. I’m not a prude, a Christian or opposed to cursing–when appropriate. But the previous stream of non-stop cursing on this show was simply a lack of intelligence and class.

      1. My feelings too. Cursing is a lack of self-control, do I curse, yes on occasion and it is always because I didn’t think ahead and I lost self-control. I am not a religious at all, neither am I a prude, but cursing shows a lack of intelligent vocabulary, it is just being lazy.

  17. I wonder how many of these ‘you’re stupid’ – ‘you suck’ comments come from employees? interns perhaps? ;-) … just throwing some spitballs … is there any way to check into other members profiles to see what sort of activity they actually do on this site?

    1. Honestly, why care? You are stating your mind, which is one of the things the Young Turks is all about. If others don’t like it orr are offended, that is their opinion. You made some good points. I see no reason why you should have to dig up aggressors to fend them off. Like Cenk says, “That’s like your opinion, man.” If a reply is critical in a derogatory way, ignore it. I don’t think Cenk sold out. Investiture is a money transaction. They invest up front and expect a return on that investment in a specified time. Now if that guy had bought TYT, that would be a different story. The whole change of behavior on set is what happens when a small enterprise begins to become popular and successful. Small start ups go through this all the time, and that change means, almost certainly, a change in their corporate culture towards a more business oriented view. From what I have seen since 2009, Cenk has remained on target per his principles and goals. I don’t always agree with him, as on Clinton, but 100% agreeability simply isn’t real. Differences give perspective. Just my 2 cents…. are pennies legal tender? I don’t recall.

      1. what’s the big deal? the ability to trust that your getting independent media that isn’t tainted by corporate interests – that’s what the big deal is – it’s not ‘just my opinion’ – they’re changing their language (that they’ve had online since their inception) to kiss someone’s ass … they’re putting commercial breaks in the Post Game … if it’s not corporate interests why commercial breaks in the Post Game?

remember – when people pay into something they don’t like being wrong about it and will defend getting fucked to their death – just watch John Oliver’s take down of televangelists and how the people that they fleece defend them … and why … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y1xJAVZxXg … I know its hard to admit that someone you thought you could trust might be untrustworthy now … but it’s something you need to consider if they’re changing their language for corporate interests – what aren’t they covering for them too?

        1. This guy is a troll. Ruskie, Alt Righty, I dont care, but I can spot you. I can flag you. In the immortal words of 4chan,
“Troll harder faggot” Takes a troll to know I troll I suppose.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but TYT has been making waves. It is not unreasonable to assume that some loser will pay 10 dollars a month to troll our forums to sow discontent. This is how the internet works.

Thats fucking pathetic. I hope you get paid for this, because if it’s out of pocket…you really are pathetic.

  18. Aida, I don’t think there has ever been a show where you fail to mention that you’re a comedian. I think that’s the point of the people criticizing you, not that you’re a comedian, just that you mention all the time. It’s like the insufferable vegans that can’t go a single meal without telling everyone that they’re vegan. If they think that people are annoyed with them because they’re vegan instead of because they never shut up about being vegan, then they’d be wrong, too.

  19. Cenk says quote: “I wish I could have cursed” … because he does not own The Young Turks and can make whatever rules he wants? why can’t you curse Cenk? isn’t it YOUR decision that put this rule in place? aren’t you the one that has the power to make and change rules?

or ….. did you sell your right to call the shots to some corporate master? are you the puppet of some corporate entity that will determine what you can and can’t say? I mean … they apparently already determine what language is or is not allowed right?

    1. The no cursing rule comes from a strategy to increase their impact by appearing on more outlets, some of which do not accept content with cursing. As Steve O mentioned in another show (maybe Aggressive Progressives), they can bleep out the cursing before releasing content to those platforms, so an occasional forbidden word is not a problem, having gratuitous cursing makes a problem for the editor required to do the bleeping and would also make a choppy show that would not be appealing. The membership shows and existing platforms will not be bleeped, so cursing can be used to express deep emotion. Cenk is constrained by this decision in the same way he is constrained by the rule not to hit himself in the head with a hammer. He could, but prefers not to.

      1. you guys keep making excuses for them … Cenk CAN NOT say he wishes he could curse – IT’S HIS FUCKING COMPANY … unless it isn’t

if were ONLY the main show I wouldn’t like it but I wouldn’t have the problem with it that I do … THEY’RE CENSORING MEMBER ONLY SHOWS … that’s bullshit – straight up bullshit … they’re also putting commercial breaks in the Post Game … why? why would they put commercial breaks in the Post Game … THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS ONLY SHOW … but now Cenk’s baby – Old School can still fucking curse cuz Cenk wants to be the only one with a show that can curse? what the fuck is up with that?

no – they’re selling out and once the camel’s nose is in the tent – you can kiss the rest of it goodbye …

        1. Even Alex Jones sounds more reasonable than you. How monumentally stupid and devoid of logic one can be.

          1. oh sweetie – nice try to smear me … what have I said that isn’t true my dear? what aspect of my statement isn’t indicative of corporate influence? why do they have commercial breaks in the Post Game? why are they censoring MEMBERS ONLY shows? I can understand the main show to some degree … but what about the members only stuff – what happened to only answering to the members? why aren’t they telling us – the people they supposedly answer to – what’s going on? why are they hiding it?

you are the chump here … you are the minion sent to try to smear anyone that points out what’s going on … keep trying – you won’t succeed because I have actual facts to point to while all you’re playing is ad hominems .. ;-)

            1. But you don’t have facts. Nothing you wrote has a fact in it — only suppositions. I will concede that there are some interesting kernels in there, but then you go and ruin it with obvious conspiratorial nonsense and transparent projection.

              1. Cenk owns The Young Turks right? he is the one that makes the decisions of what can and can’t be said on air – right? if so – why does he say ‘I wish I could have cursed’? – it’s HIS company – HE makes that decision … unless he DOESN’T … in which case … WHO DOES AND WHY? …

what projection my dear? what of anything I’ve said is projection?

if it’s for audience – WHY PUT COMMERCIAL BREAKS IN THE POST GAME? why censor members only shows that aren’t broadcast?

what of ANY of this aren’t facts?

seriously guys – you need to make better accusations and arguments …

                1. XENOPHRENIA, I’ll explain it to you since it seems you’re a bit dense.

When one goes on a diet, one often restricts their own food intake. As such, it would make perfect sense to say to someone as you sat down for dessert, “I wish I could have chocolate cake.” Meaning: I WANT to have chocolate cake, but my own self-imposed rules suggest that I shouldn’t. Perhaps they’re a diabetic. Perhaps they’re overweight.

Similarly, an alcoholic might say, “I wish I could still drink,” but think in their mind: “I can’t because I can’t handle alcohol & act responsibly.” It’s all about self-imposed rules. See the analogy here? None of that involves someone else imposing rules on those people or some nefarious takeover of their lives by an outside entity.

Cenk can curse if he wants to, it’s just that they’ve made a decision not to (or to reduce it) in order to make their broadcasts more available in a broader marketplace (which frowns upon cursing). When they curse now, their editor just has to do more work bleeping it & the audio ends up sounding like swiss cheese if you have a lot of cursing. So, the more they curse, the more work they themselves have to do (in the form of their own sound editors) and, ultimately, that’s a cost issue as well.

I don’t agree with the new no-cursing policy, but I DO see their logic as to it helping make the shows more publicly available on a broader variety of outlets. I DEFINITELY DON’T agree with the no-cursing policy FOR PAYING MEMBERS!! That doesn’t make any sense. They should have 2 versions available, the bleeped version (for the faint of heart) & the original version for paying members. But disagreeing with this policy doesn’t mean the policy doesn’t make sense from THEIR point of view or that it’s imposed by some corporate owners that they’ve sold out to.

As to commercial breaks in the post game: 1st, I didn’t know they had done that, but how do you know what direction they are going in? How do you know they aren’t preparing the entire network – members-only shows and all – to be put on wider platforms or made more publicly available in 6 months? They ARE capitalists. If they could get advertisers that aren’t necessarily offensive to their general audience (like Aspiration Bank.com just as an example), perhaps they could have a fully-funded, advertiser-driven model & wouldn’t have to charge their members a fee. Or they could just make MORE money. Did you ever think of that? That’s but one reason why they might be censoring the cursing. There could be other reasons, such as these other broadcast platforms need the show in more palatable, bite-sized segments reduced to 7 or 8 minutes in length (hence you hear them breaking & pausing more around those newer broadcast standard’s boundaries). Which brings me to…

I will admit, they could certainly do a better job of communicating to their members. They are woefully lacking in that area, otherwise most people’s minds wouldn’t run to such conspiratorial nether regions. They should spend a couple of investor bucks redoing the website, increasing the number of editors so the shows get published in a timely fashion, as well as to develop a multi-format communication forum or platform for members. But what do I know?

So, those are some of the reasons X.

                2. Hi Xenophrenia – From various small remarks, or maybe it was only one, my understanding is that Cenk is working on launching a complete “network” of TYT shows. If that is the plan, everything will have to go into the pot. The main show, post games, Old School, Nerd Alert, Pop Trigger, TYT Sports, Murder With Friends, etc. It will take a lot of product to fill 24 hrs a day. every day, with content. I have no idea what the platform will be. I do know that TYT now has a General Manager based in another location. In Ohio? Cinncinatti? Maybe Cleveland? Just guessing on the location. Anyway, how they intend to handle the “members only” format I cannot begin to guess. Such a huge undertaking, especially for the technical staff of TYT. They still have issues with just keeping the Main Show on the rails. It is hard to discipline “family”. They do need someone to tell them to tighten up and get their shit together. Same mistakes time after time. While I am on it, why can they not assign one person to update a page with current info. The Friday Post Game still not listed on Members Only schedule. Who the hell knows about Aggressive Progressives? Cenk gave a “stay tuned” for AP and it had been canceled. A pre-recorded show may or may not take days to post, and when it does, members can’t locate it. BTW. Ana may not read our comments but someone needs to read them or forget the “comment” option.

            2. Ding ding ding.
I’m not going to tell you how you tipped your hand as to being a troll, there were a few tells.

Free advice comrade, dont overplay your hand.

Who pays to fucking troll? dude, thats what social media is for.

      2. What are these outlets that don’t allow cursing? Seriously, I’m asking. You can curse on traditional radio by FCC rules, but on Sirius on don’t think that applies, so who is it that makes them censor themselves?
