I gave you credit last time for not being one of those lunatics who insists (incorrectly) that Cenk is a tool of mainstream media.
Allow me to take back that credit, as you’re now making the same lunatic claims. And I love how you thank Katie for injecting sanity discussion. I assume you cut the video off right there because you clearly missed the part where cenk and ana agreed with her.
Damn! Much here reads like a flood of fucking Russian bots. WTF!
I want an investigation! :-)
Ugh never have Katie or Simone on again. Simone is too centrist and Katie is too Jimmy Dore type insane “progressive” that tends to even get alt-right and Russian bots as followes. Wish you could get Same Seder or Michael Brooks as guests.
Jimmy Dore is perfectly more aligned with a majority or REAL people than you may realize. Whatever you think about Russians, alt-right etc. Know that the people in power are the ones with money, political power, and corporations by their side. Not a minority of people with a computer and keyboard. Let that soak in before you respond.
You have to wonder where responsibility went for these past few decades. It’s as if it pays well to be irresponsible. Trump is just a beautiful example of what the hell is wrong with our social system. Russia gate is another example. I can just go on and on. Yet people still can’t get it through their heads that there is no such thing as personal responsibility anymore. A Libertarian dream. Go figure.
One story one Russia all week and y’all are still freaking out. I can’t with this part of the TYT audience anymore
The problem with transhumanism is we would be left with no sense of privacy
wow that’s pretty cool. i think that one lady is right. i’m sure a ton of people would give up their privacy in a blink of an eye to help clarify everything with the whole me too movement. lol there would be a ton of male monsters in prison but it would also be interesting to see if there are any women monsters too
Love Katie! Getting a little weary of middle of the road progressiveness – Katie was really refreshing.
Until The End of the World (Wim Wenders) has a subplot about recording dreams – it doesn’t go well.
I really really really hope TYT is not going the way of Tom Hayden. Please tell me it isn’t so….
Thank God for Katie Halper, who injected at least a little sanity into the discussion about Putin. It is obvious that Cenk and Ana are simply mouthing the MSM narrative about Putin/Russia and Trump. They ignore completely all the things that Trump has done AGAINST Russia.
SYRIA:
It’s almost as if they don’t realise that Syria is one of Russia’s most important allies, and the Russian naval base at Tartus, Syria is one of only 2 warm water naval bases that Russia has (the other being in Crimea).
Russia is fighting in Syria at the behest of its ally. IOW, Russia is there legally. The US is there ILLEGALLY.
In addition:
1) Trump bombed a Syrian airfield (I know Cenk thinks this was a wimpy strike and did not kill enough people or do enough damage, and I find that a very curious criticism coming from someone who calls himself “deeply progressive”, but still – it did not have to happen)
2) Trump attacked a Russian military contractor force in Syria and killed 300 Russians
4) Trump has attacked and killed Syrian soldiers (i.e., Russian allies)
5) Trump has declared that the US will stay in Syria indefinitely (and illegally)
Obviously Trump’s actions in Syria are the exact OPPOSITE of what a Putin Puppet would do. Putin wants the US OUT of Syria. There is no good reason to stay in Syria. Why are we there, if not to just really piss off Putin and his ally Assad?
UKRAINE:
Trump has ramped up our arms shipment to the far right Ukrainian regime in order to fight against the Russian rebel proxies in Eastern Ukraine. It is an open secret that Russia is supporting the rebels in Eastern Ukraine, and Russian military forces are generally assumed to be on the ground and active in those areas. Trump has authorised a weapons shipment to the Ukraine that Obama had put on hold because the Russians were so opposed to it. These weapons are highly advanced anti-tank weapons which will give the Ukrainian government forces a major advantage over the pro-Russian rebels in the East. This means there will be a very f=good chance that these US weapons will kill Russian soldiers.
Again, not something that a Kremlin stooge would do if he was trying to “please Putin.”
Trump has ratcheted up the sanctions on Russia that were passed in retaliation for the annexation of Crimea. What he has NOT done is implement the additional sanctions that were passed specifically and officially to “punish Russia for interfering in the US elections.
Indeed, the language of the Bill specifically states the reason for the sanctions to be:
“Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the United States presidential election. ”
This is a very harsh and wildly irresponsible declaration given the lack of ANY evidence to support the underlying claim. Everyone should agree that to escalate relations with a nuclear power without having actual evidence is AT THE VERY LEAST premature.
Notwithstanding the recklessness of the bill itself, Trump has two very good reasons to resist implementing these sanctions on Russia:
First, they are opposed by our allies in the EU, who have threatened retaliatory actions against the US if the sanctions are imposed.
Second, imposing these particular sanctions would amount to a tacit agreement by Trump that Russia did, indeed, influence the outcome of the US elections, and such an act would directly undermine the legitimacy of Trump’s Presidency.
Both of these are very logical and I think valid reasons (from Trump’s POV) not to implement the second round of sanctions.
But Katie’s question was also relevant: just what MORE do Cenk and Ana want Trump to do? Cenk said there was an easy and straightforward answer, but he never gave one.
I honestly think TYT is pretty careless on the topic of war and intervention. Remember the full throated rejoicing of the Lybian regime change ? Years after, when it was amply clear that the breakdown of a rule of law post Gaddaffi’s removal had wreaked havoc on the country and changed things significantly for the worse, there was no admission of being wrong. They covered the story of the exacerbating slave trade situation from the chaos that followed the regime change ( I think it was Cenk and John) in an ultra short segment where the conversation immediately went to how heartless it was to deny immigrants escaping these situations entry into US. Not a word of introspection on how this should be a stern reminder of being doubly, triply circumspect about empire building and interventionism and generally the actions and intent of our military administration. They have been wrong earlier, and refused to see reason even after the evidence presented itself, and they’ll be wrong again this time.
Yes, I can easily see Cenk’s elbow drop for Gaddafi: Down goes Gaddafi!! Down goes Gaddafi!”
So much cheerleading. In the end, they really are an MSNBC with saltier language.
Although they might argue that Maddow spends 50 min a day on Trump/Russia, they only spend 20. Must we always settle for the lesser evil? Even in media?
Actually, now it is so bad that even the “20 min., not 50” has become a strawman argument, because they are starting to ignore actually dangerous developments around Russiascare.
When a “respected, middle of the road, liberal” journalist like Jonathan Alter makes ridiculous comparisons of a few twitter bots to Pearl Harbor, and MSM immediately jumps to slander Bernie on Russia, I would say it’s time to panic and push back very hard.
There’s one thing we have to understand about MSM – they are much better connected to the military administration, politicians and political thinktanks than something like TYT. These kind of over the top comparisons to 9/11 or Pearl Harbor makes me fairly convinced that they know Russiascare is here to stay irrespective of probe outcomes – that is, there are already military escalations and domestic surveillance actions planned and pushing the agenda through media narrative is going into overdrive.
I really hope that TYT covers Tulsi Gabbard’s bill for securing the election system through auditable paper trail. So far, a major portion of the narrative from TYT has been integrity of elections and risk to voter rolls. Well, if that is your concern, this is a solution. And if they ignore it in the same manner that MSM has buried the story (literally the only place other than Gabbard’s website and pages you can find this is TJDS and a few fledgling youtube channels), then that would leave very few options other than the concern for electoral meddling not really being the main driver of TYT’s Russia coverage.
Simone is perfect for stories like the last one, Ana is way too negative when it comes to the future.
I must say, while I also disagree with some of Simone’s statements, I think her overall point is actually valid. Whatever Republicans are, they are half of the country. So alienating them, doesn’t make much sense. We have to find some common ground and move forward, otherwise the establishment will always win…
Distant Viewing, ESP, they were doing and experimenting with that during WW2 already! As far as I know they’re still doing it.
Russia Russia and yesterday Alex jones. Rerun. What direction is tyt going in? Not in this members direction.
Russia, Russia, Russia. Okay so they messed with our elections…And? We’ve have been messing with elections around the world for a century. We’ve assassinated, staged coups, color revolutioned and so on. But while we are so upset with interference with our elections and our “democracy” from Russia, what about the NRA? They have been messing with our elections for decades. They spend millions in bribes, I mean donations to candidates who over the years have voter suppressed, gerrymandered and rigged elections to the point the very thought of offending the NRA or stepping outside their program agenda strikes mortal fear in the hearts of most republicans and even some democrats and so corrupted our election process that nothing short of a revolution can fix it. Sure let’s watch Russia, but we need to look closer to home first. That’s where the real problem is with our electoral system.

Many times Cenk and Ana have said that Trump refuses to criticize Putin suggesting he is his puppet. I would love to see story after story about Trump being Netenyahus puppet or Salman bin Abdulaziz puppet which is reality
Not just Trump — most of Congress are Bibi’s puppets. In both parties.
The Democratic Party has its on NRA — it’s called AIPEC.
Chuck Schumer told Trump to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. Google it. Article in The Hill in mid-2017.
You are so right!
Of course TYT covers Trump not responding to Putin and suggesting he is his puppet meanwhile TYT didnt cover the US recently approving the sale of anti-tank missiles to Ukraine which Russia sees as aggression.
If its a Russia story on TYT you can bet it has the Trump is a Putin puppet angle to it
can you link an article to this? I havent heard about it really anywhere. Would definitely be curious to read it. Thanks
There are a lot of stories that they can’t cover due to time constraints. Part of what makes their shows so great is the commentary from the panel also doesn’t allow for all stories to be talked about. They have 2 hours (give or take) to talk about the stories that have selected and you’ll see from time to time them cutting stories on-air because of it. Also investigative journalism is a lot of work and only so much time to do it.
Jeeeeesus can we leave Simone to her bland, newsreading show? Deplorables was a mistake? The mistake was not leaning into it.
What a bland, vapid centrist. TYT has no place for some talking head that we’d see on CNN. If I wanted to know what Simone’s take is, I’d be watching cable news
AGREE
While I don’t agree with the attacks on Simone I agree with the idea that she should have leaned into it. “You can’t paint people with such broad strokes” yes you can. Half of Trump’s voters were on board because of the racism, sexism, and worst parts about him. Half of them were in face deplorable. Also I am sick of discussing it. Whether you agreed with her statements or not Ana is right about the double standard and that point didn’t need to be derailed
It’s like an hour of “Outnumbered” on State Media! And damn Ana that hair does rock, you’re awesome =) You look kinda tired though Ana =( And props to TYT having a pregnant woman on as a guest hostess, though I don’t think I’ve seen her work yet outside of this appearance. What does she cover? She seemed really negative to me though, whatever anyone else on the panel said she just nay-says them. I don’t know I’ve never been pregnant so maybe it’s not deliberate. Either way it’s nice to see new faces on the panels sometimes to liven things up.
On Orrin Hatch: What I find the most disturbing about his ACA comments was that he had to keep looking down to his remarks written down I guess? The part that says: “BTW Orrin, don’t forget to call the millions of Americans “stupid dumbasses”.
On the CO Athlete Thing: I’m in Texas and Texas Wesleyan is a very, VERY conservative private school so they have every right to not take athletes from wherever they want or don’t want to. It may be very stupid cause the player might rock, but then it’s the school’s loss. I hope the CO student finds a great slot at another, better (and more liberal) school.
Russian Nukes: Yay, this is really scary. We have a Commander-In-Chief who will not protect American citizens. Our President IS A TRAITOR, period. I say we sell Florida back to Spain, let it be their problem :-P
These 2 guest hosts ruined the second hour.
nah, its good that there is some disagreement, discussion > circlejerk
Anna said that Putin demonstrated how the new missiles could target the state of florida and potentially destroy it. Is she talking about the state of the union adress where they showed video and animations of the missiles? I thought that sounded like really aggressive imagery and imidately wanted to see it, but couldn’t find anything like that in this video of the adress: I linked the closest thing as far as I could see. https://youtu.be/VV1Sdtwa44A?t=1h29m29s
Putin’s actions are entirely logical and understandable. Having missiles that cannot be stopped by ABMs (Anti-Ballistic Missiles) is a logical response to the US’s unilateral withdrawal from the ABM Treaty in 2002 (thanks, Bush).
The ABM Treaty limited the US and Russia to a certain number of ABM complexes (2) and a certain number of ABM missiles (200, or 100 per complex).
Like all such treaties, the accord allowed each side to verify the other side’s compliance.
The US withdrawal from the Treaty has led to the US installing more ABM complexes and ABM missiles. Not just in the US, but also in Eastern Europe. Consequently, the US (NATO) has created a Missile Defense System with missile complexes in Romania and Poland. The Romanian missile complex became active in 2016, the Polish complex is scheduled to go online this year.
These nuclear-capable missile complexes are just a scant few hundred miles from Russia’s border.
The problem with these missile complexes is that, in the absence of the ABM Treaty, Russia has no way to verify whether the missiles are offensive or defensive. The missiles themselves can be transformed at a moment’s notice from defensive to offensive use simply through a software change.
When the USSR tried to station missiles in Cuba in 1962, the US threatened nuclear war. The situation today with the NATO Missile Defense System is 100% analogous.
Given that the US was willing to initiate WW3 when Russia tried to station missiles in our “backyard”, Putin’s reaction so far to the imminent threat posed by the missile batteries the US is putting on his doorstep is, by comparison, measured and calm.
I just published “Putin’s Weapons Announcement is Totally Reasonable and Understandable” here:

Thank you
I am encouraged by TYT’s efforts to bring democracy back to the world. Taking money out of politics is a very important step, however I am concerned that no one addresses what I consider to be the most impactful policy AGAINST DEMOCRACY.
The WINNER TAKE ALL policy employed by 48 of the 50 States in presidential elections is unconstitutional and it has a devastating impact on our democracy. I can show you how, in a 2 candidate race, it is mathematically possible for the candidate with under 30% of the vote to prevail against the candidate with over 70% of the vote.
This WINNER TAKE ALL policy is ridiculous and it is not required by the Constitution. Just think for one minute of how crazy it is that our presidential candidates campaign for the top job and are able to totally ignore California, New York and Texas.
The fact that California and New York are ignored in presidential elections has neutralized the PROGRESSIVE AGENDA in the United States.
Please take the time to address this subject. If I am wrong then please take some time to explain to me why and how I am wrong.
Omg. Never have Simone on a panel talking about politics or Republicans again. Conde Rice knowledgeable????? Really??? We live in the twilight zone. They bungled us into the IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN WAR!!! I went to Afghanistan 3 times, and this just made me sick. I get differing perspective, but the entire Bush Admin should be on trial at the ICC. Stop whitewashing these terrible people’s history.
Did Simone just advocate for civility and decorum? Are you kidding me? They’re the most evil self serving people in America. Bipartisanship died 40 years ago, what are you talking about???? Republicans don’t play fair and they never abide by the rules. Reagan stopped Iran from releasing the Marines so that he could the Presidency. Nixon stopped Vietnam peace talks to win 68 and LBJ knew about it, and nothing. I swear all Democrats have broken person syndrome, and can’t get away from their abusers. We’re never going to win or stop fascism playing nice with fascist. Jesus man, makes you want to give up.
Ps I’m always thinking dirty and food, there no gadgets needed, therefore I listen to TYT and Jimmy Dore so I can have some intelligent imput.
Ana mention ”bad actors”, who judges who is a bad actor? The only country that has started illigal wars and nuked Japan?+ installed military regims in a lot of countries? Is Trump, Nikki Haley and the likes who decides who is a bad actor. Words like bad or good, have no place in politics but in religion.
simpjkee — I completely disagree with you. They didn’t miss anything. That Colorado kid was a victim of profiling. Pure and simple and without a chance to prove his innocence. I’d even go so far as to call the coach guilty of bigotry and malice. He even said that Colorado kids can blame their “liberal” elected officials. I think we watch different shows.
Props to Katie for dropping the Straight Edge bomb on TYT!! xxx.
That episode of black mirror was so good ana!!! i absolutely loved it, especially when the hamster saves the day
Haven’t seen it yet, about to watch. Maybe it’s just the performance of the day, but regarding the comments so far – Simone is great, generally speaking, it’s important to have different perspectives and the bland/middle/centrist view is still real – DC might be fake, but this people believe what they believe.
Katie on the other hand is awesome, great, a progressive fighter that can make Jimmy look like a centrist. She belongs in the first hour tho. She’s from the east, so that will not happen soon, once on TYT, wrong hour, people indifferent, oh well… Check out TheKatieHalperShow on iTunes
Simone made a comment on how social media made democracy much more fragile. I would say that people have turned to social media because mainstream news has abdicated its responsibility to its viewers. In addition, investigative journalism is almost non-existent.
Hour two was deplorable.
Cenk totally missed the point on the baseball story. The coach doesn’t want to recruit kids who can’t pass a drug test. Apparently, the kids he recruited from Colorado can’t pass drug tests. For him, don’t recruit kids from Colorado… problem solved. I know TYT hosts all think marijuana is amazing, but drug use has consequences and right now this is one of them.
That was not a smart, rational remark simpjkee. He, nor you, know a recruit from Colorado can’t pass a drug test. He blackballed a whole state. He got fired. Good.
Your post would much better fit on Breitbart or Newsmax.
Peace. :-)
Are we sure that comment isn’t a joke? It reads like a joke. It’s a joke…right?
“I know TYT hosts all think marijuana is amazing”
You’re going to need to back that up with specifics. That does ‘t fly with progressives.
Terrible guests.
Based on the #tytlive twitter feed I thought I would be the only person who didn’t fall head over heels in love with them.. I don’t think they were terrible but not going to be sad if this panel doesn’t happen again. I was extremely irritated (probably irrationally irritated) when Simone said she found it “disgusting” that Clinton called part of Trump’s base deplorable. I think what’s disgusting are those people. They’re fucking disgusting monsters. I wish more people in power would call it out for what it is.
Simone is a local tv news anchor, so she can’t afford to be anything other than bland and inoffensive. The “you can’t generalize a group of voters without getting to know and talk with them” comment just capped it for me. Neither of the guests really added much to the hour and I wouldn’t be too upset if neither showed up again.
Ahh.. that explains a whole hell of a lot. It didn’t click when Cenk rattled off a set of letters while explaining where she was from.
i agree. I like Katie, shes a great progressive, she mentions some good points.. simone on the other hand was just another semi progressive leaning way too centre
she makes Michael shure look like a radical loll
Agreed, the hour was pretty lackluster. Everybody looks drained, fatigued, and ready to go home.
Yooooo what uppppp
Nice to see the balance tipped in the female direction on this panel, though I like all the TYT contributors regardless of gender. I appreciated especially Ana’s comment at the end implying she was fed up with invasive technology because it inevitably gets weaponized by the powers that be for use against the general public and so-called subversives. Very important point that I think TYT needs to expand on. The legacy of Nazi technological advances that went underground after the war and into the hands of the C.I.A., military and beyond, has never left us.
