Meant to post this on the PG from the day before but I guess people can enjoy this here instead.
As a guy, creating millions of living entities is pretty cool, they’re probably one of our most complicated cells that we produce. On the issue of the debate around consent and sexuality, I think we’re basically beginning the cycle again, where we began very traditional and puritan about sex and increasingly became more open during the course of the 20th century. So we’re probably going back to a more ritualistic time where we’ll extensively court each other, maybe we go back to having chaperones, and where sexuality is basically seen as shameful, especially pre-marriage. I’m not sure if you could say this is better or worse than the situation we’ve had for women over the past 30-40 years, I guess. You’d have to do a kind of social cost-benefit analysis, maybe going back to having chaperones would make things more awkward and rigid but maybe having support when you are first going into a more intimate setting with someone might decrease anxiety or reduce instances of sexual assault, I don’t know. I don’t know whether you could definitively say either one was better but they’re definitely different.
Maybe we can get H.G. Wells to be the next President and we can go back in time…
Wish they would have brought up Ojeda during the WV story, he is standing strong with the teachers here in WV and is running for House in DC…imagine if WV could have Paula and Ojeda!
“juss democrats” – cenk
If Trump wants a war, let it be a trade war not a real war.
Some Public Lands were donated to the Gvmt. with the Caveat that they always stay as Public Parks etc. (ie not to be mined, sold to private interests etc) I’m assuming that these lands being slated for mining were not donated but always state lands (stolen from the native Americans)? I just hate this whole thing and Emma is right, the rest of the world are living in the 21st Century while we insists on going back to the 19th Century, why, GREED! Always, Mammon wins in this country, so sad.
666 fifth avenue must be a dump if the other rich real estate nyc people have not come forward to buy it. thanks tyt for you show as someone retired living in thailand you are my main source of news reporting here
Emma is 10/10 always love it when shes on.
Emma Vigeland is wonderful!
Love to see Emma on the main show but no need to smother on the makeup like Anna does. You both are beautiful so if anyone should be wearing make up its the guys. :)
VIIIIIIGELAAAAAAAAAAAND! Love this woman.
More Emma please. Smart, well-informed, articulate, centered and not screechy. Big fan of Emma!
Emma is awesome; would love to see her on the main show regularly!
It’s shameful that we aren’t paying our teachers more, seriously. I mean I’m on f’ing disability (SSD) and even I got a 2% raise for last year’s inflation; not even a 5% bump in 4 years would seriously F* me over. It’s not about a “raise” their money isn’t WORTH as much as it was 4 years ago. Look even if you look at through Republican eyes you should want them to have this raise; what I mean is think of all schools do for us, do we want these kids out of school getting into trouble like kids do? Even for a rich Republican, this WILL affect you at some point. It may be right now by striking teachers protesting? A kid’s baseball smashing through your window? Or in 20 years when you need to hire people for your business but no one you interview can read above a 3rd grade level? COME ON!
Also, LOVE the 4-person power panels! Thanks TYT =)
I am encouraged by TYT’s efforts to bring democracy back to the world. Taking money out of politics is a very important step, however I am concerned that no one addresses what I consider to be the most impactful policy AGAINST DEMOCRACY.
The WINNER TAKE ALL policy employed by 48 of the 50 States in presidential elections is unconstitutional and it has a devastating impact on our democracy. I can show you how, in a 2 candidate race, it is mathematically possible for the candidate with under 30% of the vote to prevail against the candidate with over 70% of the vote.
This WINNER TAKE ALL policy is ridiculous and it is not required by the Constitution. Just think for one minute of how crazy it is that our presidential candidates campaign for the top job and are able to totally ignore California, New York and Texas.
The fact that California and New York are ignored in presidential elections has neutralized the PROGRESSIVE AGENDA in the United States.
Please take the time to address this subject. If I am wrong then please take some time to explain to me why and how I am wrong.
They’ve brought up the national popular vote compact a couple times in the show. But this really only affects the vote in the presidency. It doesn’t affect congress, state legislature, governors, etc. etc. Money in Politics is far more endemic and problematic to literally everything that happens.
DoubleReed. Your point is well taken except that I think you are underestimating the power of the Presidency. Also please note that this thing about campaigning and paying attention only in “BATTLEGROUND STATES” is totally the result of Winner Take All. If Presidential candidates had to campaign in California, New York and Texas as they should, agendas and results would be different.
Congress banned insider trading when Obama first came and lifted the ban once republicans retook congress with Obama’s approval:

As for Wilbur Ross’s benefit from all of this, he is a financier who built his career and fortune on equity and securities trading especially on derivatives trades (that is betting on companies/markets to go up and down like he did during the financial crisis). His corporations probably have taken long positions on those corporations hurting from these tariffs.
More news like the one in West Virginia! It gives hope, thougt Hope left the building in the beginning of the week, who knows maybe it turns around among teachers. Teachers and nursers, unite!
Uhhhhh. Trump may have not broken the law.
Icahn sure a hell did.
You’re not allowed to trade stocks based on information that is not public. If Trump or Ross told Icahn that they were going to announce Steel and Aluminum tariffs and he traded before the announcement was made, then it’s a crime.
What has this president and his administration done that ISN’T a crime?! Dear god I cannot take much more of this. I just want a US president to have to suffer the consequences of their horrible actions. I’ll take any of them, I don’t care which one we start with ( actually can we please start with the current nightmare in chief?) I wish I actually believed in a god so I could pray for someone to hold any of the living presidents accountable. Because apparently praying is about all I can do at this point. Praying to a god that doesn’t exist, voting in elections that are rigged in one way or another, marching in streets that are patrolled by brutal militaristic police, probably getting shot at the grocery store or any other public place, shouting about the injustice of it all to corrupt politicians who are taking money to ignore me. And to top it off Game of Thrones isn’t even coming back in 2018. Ahhhh!?
I feel you man
You packed a lot into one little paragraph. It is getting dreary out there. Oh yeah, the North Pole is melting in the dead of winter. How much time do we have left?
Ask yourself, how many people have traded on insider information and gotten away with it?
I bet it is lots more common than anyone acknowledges or even suspects.
love John’s voice
Nice to see Emma on the main show…
Haven’t seen her since the thing with Jordan happened
Can you guys give us the cliff notes on Trump’s corruption? It’s getting too hard to keep up.
