Cenk. Hannity says Obama portrait has ‘secret sperm.’ Activists want to stop Muslims from participating in Minnesota’s GOP. Central Park Five exonerees on Trump’s Porter defense. Parents of GOP Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson gave max donations to Dem Sen. Baldwin. Mom dies from flu after she doesn’t pay expensive copay. Trump’s infrastructure plan, wants to add tolls.

Why are the uploads always late now?
Teacher dies because of an expensive copay but remember asking for affordable healthcare is like asking for a pony (Clinton) or a free hotdog Friday (Patricia Arquette)
Politician Calculus: 1. Get power. 2. Stay in power 3. Get more power 4. Exercise the power in whatever way to accomplish goals 1,2,&3.
Hey, Heather Holland was only a school teacher; she wasn’t doing important things like a fund manager does… Her family will have to suck it up… How would the system be able to do tax cuts, if her co-pay was less expensive…
Once again Cenk wants Dems and Progressives run ads saying “I stopped the government and fucked you up the ass (by denying Social Security payments, Medicaid coverage, Food Stamps in the middle of winter and CHIP to you the poor American voter in the middle of nowhere) because a bunch of illegals and I am proud of it.”
There was a clear choice between illegals and citizens and 65% of citizens in all the polling that was done said Citizens come first.
If you want illegals to have legal status fine, vote for the republican proposal because that is the only one that will pass between now and 2021 because any proposal that Trump does not like will be vetoed and used by him as cannon fodder in the campaign.
Sticking to his guns on immigration jolted him 5 points during the standoff on the budget and the republicans in congress gained 8 points and were within the margin of error.
” Yee haw, they’s a bunch a’ damn bunch of dern illegals. They’s brown. Rip their families apart. They’s don’t deserve no protection. Don’t fight for people who aren’t white”.
Hey, go fuck yourself, white supremacist asshole.
I never said I was against DACA, I said put things in perspective and know where your limits are and which battles can be won and which can be lost. I know a lot of solid progressives who were seething with anger at the shutdown because of DACA most of whom are minorities and virtually all of those have family or friends who depend on the government programs I mentioned above.
By the way DACA did not exist before 2015. Back then “dreamers” were deported regularly and no one peeped. Dreamers have been used as a political football since 2001 and every time the legislation fails the filibuster threshold and based on Roll Call and other sites even this current Trump proposal is doomed to fail because you need 12 republicans to advance the Bill and there are only 10 willing.
Now there is a way to conduct backroom deals with Trump, who is desperate to have a wall, like Ted Kennedy did with GWB in passing No Child Left Behind but all of them involve funding a wall.
If this is what it takes to help both the dreamers and the 10 million other illegals I am all for it but don’t say you are for Dreamers and Illegals and then refuse any kind of compromise because you know damn well you won’t get any unless you have 60 senators and the White House and you won’t get neither, not for a very long time.
A wall, which for technical reasons won’t be built and can be defunded in the future, is a small price to pay for dreamers and other illegals.
Yeah, arguing from a place of weakness. Real god damn smart…Especially as we see the bullshit Republicans have pulled for DECADES.
The shut down is the Republicans fault plain and simple.
If your OWN PARENTS donate to the opposing side… zoweeeee owieeeee, jump the trolley!
If I was Tammy, I would have an internet ad with that fact up and running asap.
As for Gillibrand not taking PAC money.
That’s good to hear, but just NOW she has seen the light? Bullshit.
What does Cenk consider a “reward?” Considering her a progressive candidate?
Call me cynical, but until I see how this changes how SHE votes, it’s just a campaigning ploy.
“Look at me! I’m a millionaire politician and I stopped taking PAC money so now that means I will vote AGAINST the interests of all those Big Donors that I’ve taken money from over the years!”
Really? Let me be even more cynical. Have her Donors (top 2 are law firms, top one represents Weinstein) decided that THEY can trust her enough that they don’t need to pay her this election cycle?
So, while I may be happy she’s saying that she’s suddenly decided Money in Politics is NOW a problem, I’m not holding my breath on how much she actually means it.
You’re such a cynic; I’d bet you’d complain, if you were hung with a new rope…
You got it!
And corporate/establishment Dems suddenly preaching they just discovered Money in Politics is a problem?
Same Executioner with a New Rope ;)
On the issue of getting money out of politics this is a victory. If you actually care about getting money out of politics you need to start acting like it. That means that sometimes you will have to celebrate people you loathe in other ways coming around on this issue. It does not matter if she changes the way she votes it matters that she is moving on this issue. Money out of politics is going to keep being a long hard battle and it’s one that is a 100% must. So if Paul effin Ryan came out tomorrow and said he was against money in politics that would still be a win. He would still be a terrible person and politican overall but it would still be a victory for the fight against money in politics.
This isn’t about a purity test for who is going to be the best Democrats this is about the importance of this one issue and about how it impacts the rest of our country moving forward. People, specifically progressives, need to start understanding that. Your purity tests have no place in this issue.
I’m not talking about a “Purity Test.” Geeze louise, got a cat on a hot tin roof, or what?!?
I’m talking about taking their Come-to-Jesus moment with a grain of salt.
Btw, I said it was a GOOD thing that she’s at least SAYING that she isn’t going to take PAC money.
I think most people who watch TYT would agree that getting money out of politics is a must.
That’s why I’ve been a member of wolf-pac since Cenk started it.
If Ryan started marching around with a Brand New Congress tee-shirt on tomorrow, I would be ecstatic!
Would I lose my bull-shit meter and think he was suddenly an honest actor?
No.
So did Gillibrand realize that the corporate PAC money makes her seem corrupt like Hillary and is a double-edged sword? Really hoping that this is sincere, and she doesn’t have some trusted lieutenant running their own PAC in the shadows. A shocking move considering she lives in money rich NY.
Cenk, the toll story wasn’t handled right. You need to emphasize that these tolls are going to go to foreign corporations, not reinvested into maintaining and upgrading the highways. Not only are we paying for the roads, we’re paying these shareholders profits. I don’t mind paying for roads; I mind being ripped off.
The Obama Secret Sperm Scandal reminds me of an old claim from back in the day.
It was claimed that Farrah Fawcett’s hair spelled out S E X in her famous red swimsuit poster.
Secret Sperm … imagined? Or REAL?!?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It is great to hear she is not taking PAC money, but is she still taking donor money? Regardless, good for her. She will get establishment support, whereas others will (like Bernie, for instance, will not). She is still behind on name recognition, but establishment probably not liking her announcement.
Perhaps, he does like a told ya so, doesnt he.
I grew up in Minnesota, what happened to MINNESOTA NICE ?!?! Story makes me sick!
It is still there. Those ass wipes don’t represent us. We elected a “hajab wearing mayor” because we are not afraid of Muslums. I am MN born and still here. They don’t represent us.
Guarantee there’s going to be some Jimmy Dore video attacking Gilibrand for stopping the influx of PAC money, because it’s Jimmy Dore.
He’ll find a way to make it about Hillary Clinton somehow. He can make any story about Hillary Clinton.
What?!?! That is big news that Gillibrand isn’t taking corporate PAC money. It is super good that she isn’t taking corp. PAC money ANYMORE but, I really hope there is a candidate in that geographical area that has a better track record as well as haven taken NO corporate PAC money… Not taking Corporate PAC money is an issue on both sides of the isle when it comes to the “average american” voter and I hope that more politicians on both sides of the isle truly follow suit when it comes to corporate donors (not like Trump did).
If white women get sex on the brain when they see black men half as much as Hannity does then I can see why he’s worried.
Another great show today.
I agree my first reaction about Gillibrand not accepting PAC $ is its all about 2020. But Cenk made a good point, it’s more important to get them on your side as opposed to why.
Nomiki Konst did a great interview on this issue where she and organizer Jonathan Smucker discuss how finding common ground is much more important to build power than passing a Democratic purity test https://youtu.be/j_QY6UQ4mgY?t=6m55s
@CoryBooker
I heard from constituents today asking about corporate PAC contributions. I’m joining several of my colleagues & no longer accepting these contributions. Our campaign finance system is broken. I thank @StopBigMoney for their work—it’s time to pass campaign finance reform.
That is not necessarily correct. It is regressive if the private companies are keeping toll fees as profit. They’ve covered this plenty of times in greater detail.
Privatization is not the same as tolling. Why should states be barred from tolling existing highways? Public transit riders and air passengers already pay for their infrastructure in part. Why should limited access roads be different? If tolls are regressive, so are public transit fares. TYT, you need to take a hard look at your position on this!
It all depends on the benefactors of such privatization, and whether it results in a net positive outcome for the American taxpayer. If we’re talking about trump administration lobbyists making bank off the infrastructure plan when there are more sound alternatives to save the American public money, then hell no we shouldn’t allow those new roads to be tolled. We’ve already paid into the tax system. We want our damn roads and bridges fixed and won’t be double dipped in order to make that happen, damnit!
Aggressive Progressives makes membership worth it!
In Illinois we have a saying, Dick Durbin… Before Durbin dicks you.
Tammy Baldwin voted to give Trump an additional 80 BILLION (in addition to the 700 billion that was already allocated ) to the military/industrial complex. She’s another corporate Democrat voting to give Trump what he wants (Resistance??)
So did Sheldon Whitehouse who is a progressive lion as I am told while Jon Tester who I am told is a corporate Dem voted Nay.
Who knew politics is so complicated?
Not the point of the story
It would be refreshing to see the TYT audience actually respond to what the story is instead of just jumping on the same bs talking points while completely missing the point.
At no point did Cenk say “Go Baldwin” he laughed about her competition’s parents giving her money then ranted about money in politics in general because of how much the GOP has spent against her.
You have to keep in mind that tyt is viewed and listened to on many platforms. I believe they came to a decision to omit most profanities after his previous rant on the establishment democrats for TYTs radio audience. It sucks I enjoy CENK going off on those losers in the DNC. Oh well….
Here’s my analysis. The $20M that TYT got came from Katzenberg. He is creating a new platform for videos (headed by Meg Whitman) that will be featuring TYT. This new platform will have language restrictions. The Main Show is getting a headstart on cleaning up their speech.
I don’t like it, but, the only constant in life is change. Guess we have to roll with it.
Why can’t you guys say ‘fuck’ anymore? That was so refreshing to see. You both would get so passionate about the injustice going on that you would say it. It’s just not the same. :(
