Schwang wang wang…the book club is on the evil FB. :( I think I will read Dark Money though, it looks intriguing.
Why were those snake handlers wearing camouflage? So the snakes wouldn’t see them?
A Portuguese “J” sound is closer to an English J than a Spanish one.
The accent above the second “a” in Guarujá tells you that the emphasis is on the final syllable, so “já” sounds like “Zsa”, as in “Zsa Zsa Gábor”.
Guarujá is pronounced Gwa-rew-zsa.
I am so happy to see the three amigos back at it! It is always better than when we just get one or two, alongside some substitute. These guys are what I live for!
Dan Rather is certainly an asset to TYT since he is a news legend. TYT has done very well with millennials, but it would be great to add some older folks who don’t know about how great the network is yet…a matter of broadening the viewership base.
With that said, Dan is only doing one show for a half hour per week. I think I would add Dylan Ratigan also doing a half hour show on, say, Thursday. Dylan is a powerhouse!
PS: this is totally off-subject, but I still miss Jordan Chariton’s voice on this network. He was a great interviewer and would follow leads to stories no one was talking about. I didn’t always agree with Jordan, but I respected that he was calling it as he saw it. It seems the network hasn’t found any replacement for the sort of reporting he used to do. Anyway, I’m just putting in my two cents….
I hope Dave does an obit on Robert Parry next week. Such a terrible loss for journalism. He was among the very, very, best in the field.
Bought Dark Money on my phone nearly a year ago but haven’t gotten around to reading it. Voted for it to start off our book club but I kind of got excited about Listen Liberal after I saw that interview Nomiki did with her hero Thomas Frank.
Anyway I got on the FB page and voted for Dark Money.
Man there is SO much I never knew about that whole Bill Clinton / Lewinsky thing. I always thought it got blown up by a bunch of leading Republicans desperate to get an impeachment + resignation on the Democrats’ side. Funny thing though — wasn’t Clinton about to privatize Social Security like a good little GOPer in Democrat’s clothing until the GOP blew up that ‘scandal?’ They deferred their fascist dreams for some Eye of Newt identity witch hunting?
Loved that backdrop pic of the Watergate. Congrats Steve on that WWN win
??
Hey @MalcolmY
Alanis Morrisette is the most famous Alumna of “You Can’t do that on Television” a sketch comedy show on Nickelodeon
So funny, despite your disparagment
(and ironic, if it were your favorite show as a kid)
I was more of a Moose fan.
Linda Tripp was no villain. her nose was large, but Bill Clinton’s nose is both large and red, so there! as i recall, Ms. Tripp has a lovely voice. Monica Lewinsky was a pretty face with flashing eyes and smile — a little zaftig but still attractive, even in this bone-crazed culture; however, she was — despite being willing — still a victim of workplace sexual abuse. she put the moves on her boss, yes, but he has a way of letting women know he’s available. anyone who thinks Hillary is in the dark about her husband isn’t giving her the credit due her intelligence.
it was the boss’s responsibility to refrain from fucking with his employees — whether or not they were willing. the other staff surely must have suspected something was going on; Monica wasn’t all that surreptitious in her behavior. i’d love to hear some reminiscing by office staff oy that period! look back at some of the video snippets of the dark-haired girl in the beret with the come-hither smile hugging POTUS in the occasional meet-and-greet, e.g. and don’t forget the perks of being a willing pussy (or, in her case, mouth) — she got at least one head-to-head meeting with powerful FOB Vernon Jordan, whose duty, i’d guess, was to get her a good position … somewhere else, and get her out of Slick Willie’s hair when he was done with her. you know, clean up his mess.
Linda Tripp’s “wrongdoing” — taping her conversations with Monica, without first getting Monica’s permish — AS IF!!! — is the only thing that documented the Truth, besides her brilliant suggestion that Monica preserve that blue dress “au naturel.” had Linda NOT covered her own ass, she herself could have been in deep shit with the Special Counsel du Jour, Kenneth Starr, on one side, and an angry Clinton Machine smelling blood in the water on the other. she was caught between a rock and a hard place, all right.
POTUS, not aware of the damning evidence, had NO PROBLEM lying to We the People with direct gaze and pointed finger, and he was equally untroubled about committing PERJURY straight to a judge’s face, in a court of law, about facts relevant to his predilection for sampling his staff’s charms, whether as Governor of Arkansas (the Paula Jones lawsuit at issue in the aforementioned judge’s court) or as POTUS (with “that woman … Ms. Lewinsky”).
Monica was a victim, yes — but so was Linda Tripp, who did what she thought best to protect herself from the Clinton Machine. and so was Paula Jones — does anyone remember what “Snakehead” James Carville insinuated about HER (allegedly) in January ’96? (Carville insists it was actually about Gennifer Flowers, another Clinton accuser/alleged victim — hey, take your pick; there are plenty of “allegeds” to go around!) let me refresh your memories: “If you drag a hundred-dollar bill through a trailer park, you never know what you’ll find.” that shows what that particular FOB thought of the then-Arkansas governor’s taste in the ladies.
this is what i thought back then, over 20 years ago. but times were different then, and there was a lot of love in the air for the Clintons. such a nice-looking, smart POTUS and FLOTUS. lest you take me for a conservative, hah! i’m far from it. i voted for Bill Clinton! i’ve been either a Democrat or, preferably, of No Party Affiliation just about my entire life — except for a brief flirtation with Libertarianism. that was all before Bernie Sanders opened my eyes to civic society and to the real good that paying one’s fair share in income tax could do for the nation as a whole — the Commonweal. nowadays i remain a Democrat strictly so that i can primary the shit out of the established corporatists, crony capitalists all. my ideal 2020 ticket is Sen. Bernie Sanders/Rep. Adam Schiff. if only …
you had me until Adam Schiff..!
I too was a loyal member of Team Democrat during the Clinton admin, and was so relieved when the dastardly Republicans failed to impeach him. In retrospect… deeply embarrassed at my unenlightened self.
I am sticking with the Dems for the moment in hope we can return the party to the people. If that does not work — if the establishment rigs the system to prevent a progressive nominee in 2020 — I’ve already pledged $500 to the Draft Bernie third party movement.
what’s your beef with Adam Schiff? i’m going strictly by the public statements i’ve heard him make, mostly extempore — they have impressed me. so whatever criticism you may have interests me much.
Schiff earned himself a “D” on the progressive scorecard with his voting record, especially on critical progressive issues. He goes lock-step with Feinstein, especially on matters concerning the NSA and surveillance, he is a super war-hawk, and he is working overtime to elevate his career with the new McCarthyism.
On his best day, he is a corporatist-centrist who will back the Establishment all the way.
Most of his money comes from PACs. Among his top donors: Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Comcast, National Association of Realtors… the usual suspects where corporatist-centrist neocon neoliberal war-hawk politicians are concerned.
OMG — dropping him like a hot potato. you used all the right aka wrong words!
glad to be of service!
I always felt the reviled Ms Tripp saved Monica’s life…ie…a Marilyn Monroe’s type overdose-suicide-murder the deep state is so very good at=:-0
Three Amigos! Aieeeeee!
I’m always happy to see these guys on the Friday post game.
Love you and stay strong!
Thought for shop TYT: Three Amigos shirt.
This show is so confusing…they do not go into any detail to make clear what they are talking about.
3 awesome book’s.
LISTEN, LIBERAL — great book, my favorite read of the past year. Was so happy to meet author Tom Frank at last year’s CA Dem convention. Unfortunately, as he pointed out in a recent Guardian piece, the Dems don’t want to learn from him or this book… But Steve Bannon is a very astute student.
AUSTERITY, THE HISTORY OF A DANGEROUS IDEA — written by an economics professor for his economics students and hence a very tough slog… but super important information we all should know. In lieu of Cliff Notes, here is a 50-minute presentation author Mark Blyth gave recently which sums up the book nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsqGITb0W4A
HACKS by Donna Brazile — a surprisingly fun read, very enlightening about OTHER things going wrong behind the scenes at the DNC and Clinton Campaign. When I read an article wherein Brazile said she smelt a stench of failure in the Clinton Campaign as early as August 2016, I did not believe her, I thought she was just trying to sell books. Then I read her book… and now I understand what she was referring to. Amazing that MORE people behind the scenes at Clinton Inc did not smell it, too.
SHATTERED — more revealing behind the scenes at Clinton Inc, written by two embedded journalists who don’t pull their punches. They share the Clintonite contempt for Bernie, which makes their criticisms of the Clinton campaign all the more telling.
STRANGERS IN THEIR OWN LAND, ANGER AND MOURNING ON THE AMERICAN RIGHT — another must-read! Millions of Trump voters would have voted for Bernie. Read why:
https://thenewpress.com/books/strangers-their-own-land
GOD, A HUMAN HISTORY — Reza Aslan’s history of how religion has been used and shaped for political purposes since the dawn of time. The more “human” a religion’s image of God is, the more authoritarian that religion is.
That was excellently written, thank you!
damn, girl — i’d rather read you than the failing New York Times! thanks for the link.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Thanks Deb-N-Cal
“The three amigos–Dave, Malcolm, & Steve–back with their usual shenanigans.” — happier words have never been typed.
I beg to differ – our shenanigans are highly unusual.
Hey everyone here’s a link to the book club https://www.facebook.com/groups/TYTBookClub/
Dark Money is a fantastic book and I recommend it to everyone! Should be required reading.
Nice show guys!
TTOTB – Totally Bullshit! TYT is already a dominant news network for the demo of folks under 40. Duh!
Great post game, as usual. I learned things, but I’m high, so I will definitely forget that I learned them unless they come up later. And then I’ll wonder how I knew them. Better than insomnia, though. ;)
Malcolm just talks all the show .. man let them talk! breath …
I am currently reading The March by E. L. Doctorow–a civil war era historical fiction. WAAAAY out of my taste, but is a required read for school. I actually am enjoying this book and have not put it down.

This line up would make a good power panel
I now this isn’t live but could y’all get the Friday Post game to run on the member live stream right after the live show ends. I’d really enjoy that!!!
Maybe I’m crazy and it already does but i think this change would be really nice!
