Best quote of this Post Game
‘We’ve got to Chicken Caesar Wrap our way back in to this’
Cenk Uygur
A 117 LDL is not seriously high especially with a good HDL. Under 130 is ok in a young woman Ana’s age. Your in good shape Ana.
I love these kinds of post games cause I can go through all the comments and learn a bunch of useful and interesting facts and helpful hints. They are all directed at Cenk and Ana, but I like to sift through them and see what I can learn and maybe use.
I had to give Prednisone to my dog and he hasn’t been the same since. He developed a persistent cough and a skin condition that requires that I wash him with medicated shampoo or he gets crazy itchy. I understand that correlation isn’t causation but it’s a pretty strange coincidence. I spent literally thousands of dollars going back to the vet. They kept giving me antibiotics and other random things but nothing cured him. OTC Benadryl seems to help with the cough but I guess now I just have to manage some new issues that he didn’t have before. Thanks Obam… I mean Prednisone!
It is sad to see so much ignorance about cholesterol. The things you put into your mouth do not increase the cholesterol levels of your blood. Cholesterol is manufactured by your body. It does not come from what you ingest. Now, there are foods that will help lower your cholesterol, but they do not increase it.
The human body metabolises cholesterol from the food we eat. Fats are a particular source.
You should read the latest official medical advice.
Ana, you should know that cholesterol is not always due to your eating habits. I have suffered with it for years. I lost weight, exercised, and took prescription meds. with no results. A doctor finally told me that my body produces too much on its own no matter what I do. I was finally able to bring it down by taking garlic oil capsules and omega 3 fish oil. I still try to eat healthy but it is the garlic and fish oil that is working. Maybe you should give it a try.
As others have commented, check out Keto. My husband lost over 30lbs and his cholesterol dropped by 20 points following this eating style.
You should have Cyenk do the keto diet and Anna do vegetarian and in 3 months see who’s numbers are better. I think youll be amazed at the results.
Joe Rogan also promotes the keto diet.
The health industry has been lying to us. Research the ketogenic diet. I’ve been on it for a year, I have dropped 80 pounds and my numbers are PERFECT . keto is not just for weight, but for overall health. Even my Dr is scratching her head.

Testify brother, I’m right there with you. I’ve been struggling o stay under 250 since a massive accident I was in 8 yrs ago and now, 3 months in to the Keto Diet I’ve dropped to 210 with little increase in general activity level and certainly not enough to account for 40+ lbs in a few months. And its not hard to do…you can eat, even over eat, a surprising number of foods.
Ana!!!
Please read this book when you have the time: How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease by Michael Greger, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27879215-how-not-to-die
I’ve loved eating meat, but after pouring through the facts, I’ve found it easy to drop it from my diet. Try going vegetarian and when you warm up, even start considering switching to vegan. It’s much more enjoyable than you’d think!
Love Cenk. You look good to me. Ana too :) So much love.
Bernie Panders Mediocre for All.
Did it take you three days to come up with that?
Oooh, did you think that up yourself or did mommy think of it for you?
When I felt healthiest, I was eating 90% plant-based. Like I could have bacon with every meal if I wanted, as long as it was one strip of bacon to everything else being vegan. What I actually did was more like vegan whenever it was reasonable, and whatever I wanted when it just wasn’t. I didn’t restrict my sugars intentionally at all, but I’m not big on sugar when I’m active anyway. Just knowing I could eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted made it easier for me to make better choices at almost every individual meal, rather than trying to follow heavy duty plans and restrictions. Doing a % veggie/vegan, like 70-30 even, might be easier/more reasonable then straight vegetarian.
Ana-
no worries…
but the trainer is mostly right: sugars, flours, processed foods, not (good) fat, and not good meat, is the underlying driver of bad cholesterol…
also, bad fats such as conventional meat and dairy (high omega-6) can drive bad LDL.
you may be surprised however to find on gooogling cholesterol explanations, that there is also good and bad LDL.
and there are tests for all the specifics if you choose to find out what you have.
another point to keep in mind is that you used to be a runner. so i f you stop, your body is still producing and using carbs, fats and proteins as if you were still running. so it may take a little adjustment..
but i would look carefully at what carbos you are consuming…
and, learn about good fats. in fact good fats make you thin….
Ana, calm down. Your lipids are fine
Don’t be too concerned Ana. :) I read “triglyceride-to-HDL cholesterol ratios” is more important than the number of HDL and LDL. You want your TG/HDL < 2. There is really no 'good' and 'bad' cholesterol… https://www.drsinatra.com/the-most-important-cholesterol-ratio-to-watch
yup ?
Okay, I don’t think I have ever used so many etcs in a paragraph! LOL Just ignore them. ?
Your total cholesterol should be under 117, actually, but they say under 150 is good. I know you’ve decided veganism not for you, but animal products are the only foods that contain cholesterol. Eating eggs is one of the worst things you can eat if you have high cholesterol. Be careful with vegetarian if you trade meat for cheese and eggs. The other thing that contributes to cholesterol is fat. Oil, butter, etc. Not nuts, seeds, etc. If you’d like some science about food, see nutritionfacts.org. He spends all his time going through all peer reviewed studies to let us all know the most up to date science of nutrition. He does short videos about things and you can search the site for cholesterol, etc. Good luck. ?
the comment about eggs in the diet is inaccurate. Look up heart uk on the internet for eggs and cholesterol.
yes, correct. eggs are great, especially pastured.. :)
You can find anything online to back up your own beliefs. I prefer to get my info from science based, no advertisements allowed on his website and links to the actual studies. And unless a doctor has specifically gone into nutrition based practice, you should take what they say about food with a grain of salt. Most do not have any nutrition training whatsoever and will back what they do for money, not unlike politicians.
I suggest you look at the website I suggest. It is all about heart health.
So, I went to that website, which promotes sales of products, which is already starting down the conflict of interest problem, and even they say that eggs raise LDL, but they say that it also raises HDL (so that makes it good?) I will give you an exact page on Dr Greger’s site you can go to to watch a short video about eggs……. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/eggs-and-cholesterol-patently-false-and-misleading-claims/
I can’t understand how people can rationalize that consuming cholesterol wouldn’t affect your cholesterol levels. Consuming sugar wouldn’t raise your sugar levels? Fat wouldn’t raise your fat levels? Salt wouldn’t raise your sodium? Do you see how little sense that makes? Cholesterol medication is the most used prescription drug in the world. Do you know which food trend has happened the most in the last couple decades? People eating more meat/animal products in many more places in the world. Thanks fast food companies! You’ve done a good job promoting unhealthy lives for humans, animals and the environment. Congratulations. SMDH
I watched the beginning. of the video. It seems essentially about misleading advertising claims. In that regard it seems it was mire a case of careless claims. You should look at more recent medical advice. Certainly in the UK but no doubt also in the USA. That seems to be saying eggs as part of a normal diet are not a problem: but does indicate that a small percentage of the population with a particular condition should take medical advice.
The website I referred to is fun by a UK charity and it seems endorses certain products and food stuffs as beneficial. I do not see that as problem. In addition there are official sites that confirm the dietary cholesterol in eggs are not a major concern.
You started this exchange by stating ‘Eating eggs is one of the worst things to do’. That is clearly incorrect. Perhaps just an over/ mis statement by you.
Just watch the video I supplied. It has the links to studies. You can also find more info on his site. That is all he does, goes through all peer reviewed scientific studies to give us the latest facts in nutrition. Meat and dairy industries are billion dollar industries and have been putting out propaganda and outright lies about food and your health for years, just like the tobacco companies did. Like I said, your page says that eggs raise LDL. So, are you saying that they are not correct? Your body makes plenty of cholesterol itself, if you consume more, it unfortunately cannot adequately get rid of it, hence the reason Lipitor is the number 1 selling drug in the world. If you just want to find pages that support your point of view, then that is fine, but you actually supplied a source that says EGGS RAISE LDL. If they are one of your “official” pages, they are contradicting what you are posting here. Go to nutritionfacts.org, you will learn a lot.
As I understand it cholesterol is determined by the fats in your diet: not the amount of meat you eat.
The body metabolises the dietary fat into cholesterol so you need to manage your fat intake.
You could also consider the 5 : 2 diet when you eat normally for 5 days and 2 days per week when you restrict you intake. That works for some people.
Cenk – GET RIPPED – you should ask for a low fat dressing on your wrap. For example walnut oil and balsamic (there are many recipes) and there must be many different dressing options.
Also Cenk if you are hungry between main meals – drinking a large glass of water fills the stomach and I have found that effective.
