I find the idea of encasing the stone arch in plastic to be revolting , disrespectful to nature, and a act of hubris. Part of the of arches beauty is from the formation processes of erosion and weathering. Its temporary and fragile existence is a physical embodiment of the actives of life of and dying. It is such a flawed and human idea, to think we can preserve this stone monument; that the preserving act will not fundamentally change the substance in which we seek to protect.
