  1. Cenk, come on; I think maybe you are pandering a bit to the mainstream here. Donald Trump, Yes, absolutely, HE IS a JERK AMONG JERKS, no question.

But that Schreclli guy, I forget his name it gets lost in the news since he actually was convicted and sentenced, but MARTIN SCHRELLI (I think his name is spelled) is JERK OF THE YEAR.

My mother is a retired pharmacist, and a current court council on medical side affects and effects. I too am educated in this field; yes, as you state often, Capitalism is what it is, companies make money…invest in future projects…reinvest…make more money…etc. Ok, that’s fine. That is America. But this cat, Schrelli, is the poster of what these execs really stand for in Western Medicine: PROFIT!

He, is the JERK OF THE YEAR, Cenk. Come on, man.

  2. Well, while thats possible, it could just as easily happen in our current system.

    So…

Having the people as another check and balance wont solve every problem, but it would solve many issues.

    Example:

Government passing laws that nobody wants..

Our founding fathers intended our system to be like this, but at the time it was logistically impossible. With the internet, now its possible.

  3. Also would have put Ajit Pai on the Jerk list. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get to vote this year.

Heather Heyer? Are you kidding me? Feels like overcompensation. While dying is a tragedy, she didn’t go to die, and you’re lionizing her as the face of the anti-nazis just because she died and is beautiful. If that was a 17 year old average-looking boy who died for the same reason, he would not be on this list. Even Chance the Rapper accomplished more than she did. Bernie Sanders fought for us more this year than she did. Heck, even Hillary Clinton did more by making us more aware of cyber-security and using her influence to reveal the inner-workings of fake news.

    1. Jesus jkmyoung…

A 17 yr old girl died while out protesting and fighting for America. Why would it piss you off so much that she got recognized??

I’m pretty sure that Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton or anyone else that for some reason you think is more deserving then a young activist who gave the ultimate sacrifice…. Wouldn’t give a crap that this girl got recognition and they didn’t!!!
They would probably be happy to honor her.
You even bringing up the fact that she is beautiful and a women and thinking that’s why she got recognized shows YOUR BIAS! And greatly takes away from her sacrifice…
No one mentioned the way she looked BUT YOU!
That’s like saying….it’s because she’s black if she was an African American.

If you’re going to be chilling on a PROGRESSIVE news station….I think you need to check yourself….
That was a super judgemental, hateful thing to say…..it’s our responsibility to be better than that…

      1. I don’t understand how what I’ve said is hateful. Heyer’s nomination doesn’t piss me off but makes me consider where TYT’s head space is right now. Heyer’s death is a tragedy, the cause is a good one, and we would all rather her be alive. However her contributions by herself are not nearly as significant as the other nominees, even if you count the media’s use of her death in condemning neo-Nazism for a few news cycles. My bringing up of her gender and look is me trying to figure out why she would be considered a runner-up for Turk of the Year, and of course it is brought up by me, because it is a valid point. I’m not against recognizing her contribution; I just don’t think it’s top 5. Apparently TYT disagrees.

I guess it could be argued that anti-neo-nazism as a whole could be in the top 5, though I think Kapernick has done more for that and police reform, forcing several national conversations. Considering how often Cenk has mentioned Kapernick, I’m surprised he wasn’t on the list, though maybe he was disqualified because he started in 2016.

  4. “Purge is an uncomfortable word, like moist.”

You mean like how the SJW-JD Organization purged itself of it’s FOUNDERS?

If they could, do you think SJW-JD would purge itself of small donors who said stupid shit when they were young? Would they purge themselves of that “tainted” cash?

They purged their own fucking FOUNDERS, so why don’t the come out and say they will only take donations from people who are have been Eternally Pure of Thought?

“Progressives” like the SJW-JD Staff are a perfect example of snowflake.
How stupid & short-sighted can you be?

  5. What if we were to abolish political parties? Cue John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

Turk of the year? I hope Carmen Yulín Cruz, Mayor of PR was in the discussion. Fighting for her constituents, defying $rump, then coming out during an interview in a “Nasty” Tee–legendary.

  6. If you watch the entire Fire Dept. video, where Trump was shaking the hands of the firefighters; you can see a couple of them rolling their eyes and laughing behind his back.

  7. Maybe we should abandon the two-party system all together and instead switch to a dual government system — one where the way that you vote every 4 years determines which set of laws you fall under —

    example:

Don votes democratic in 2020, so from 2020 to 2024 , Don’s taxes, laws, interests rates, even parking tickets all fall under the jurisdiction of the democratic government.

Robert votes republican in 2020, so the laws from the democratic government do not apply to him. Instead he is required to follow the republican laws and abide by the rules of the republican government.

Each government has a completely separate branch system of checks and balances, as well as separate constitutions and separate laws. All public services such as water etc will have to charge people based on their affiliation, and everyone’s affiliation will be public knowledge so that it will be easy to identify which party each person chooses to affiliate with.

This will ensure that everybody is happy because they get to follow the laws that they choose, rather than being stuck following the laws of another party.

Changing the rules of this government will only be possible by a 2/3 majority vote from BOTH parties. Besides that, it is entirely up to the people to vote in their candidates as normal, only without having a general election — the primaries will be the selection process unless changed by the normal means.

This will be very easy to implement with our current smart phone / social media technology.

Also might be a good idea to add a 5th check and balance to every piece of legislation which is: The People. The People can overturn any decisions including judicial with a majority vote.

    1. I’m not going to get too much in to the first idea, but I think you should take that one back to the drawing board. I don’t say that with judgement, I love political theory but there are holes in there I don’t have time to get in to.

As to your second idea, however, I try to have an open mind, but that is absolutely a dangerous idea.
Please, let me explain why, in the interest of our political theory discussion.

Have you ever heard of something called “the tyranny of the majority”?
It’s a civil rights nightmare. For example, right now, more Americans have negative views on muslims than don’t. If their civil rights were protected by the courts, the “people” could override it.
I don’t trust the American people that much, we haven’t quite proven we don’t backslide pretty hard on some prejudices from time to time.
Now that said, I get that we need better safeguards against a corrupt judiciary as well. Which we do have right now, filled with corporatists.
So I’m not saying it shouldn’t be possible to make sure that the people’s voice can push to make a change. But to outright overrule it, no.

  8. Can somebody at TYT please make sure Cenk sees a Parks & Rec clip so he will no longer be completely mystified by “Treat Yo’ Self?” ;)

  9. Sorry, I had to get this outta my system.

Thanksgiving eve got Jordan. Friday before Christmas got Cenk. Who’s getting in trouble tomorrow ?

    :) :)

    1. Well, let’s see… SJW-JD Staff also got Kyle (their OTHER Founder) to resign.

I will still vote if I have a choice of a JD Candidate.

But give money to SJW-JD Staff? Never. Not any more.
Progressives are suppose to be better than that bull-shit “purity of thought from birth onward” that SJW-JD Staff have now succeeded in saddling themselves with.

      Beyond moronic move.

      1. Agreed. I continue to give to JD candidates directly, but I cancelled my Act Blue recurring donation to JD itself.

Still get their emails, of course. Now that I’ve read the excellent point you made here today about how a group as pure as the JD would not want to take money from those of us who don’t measure up their high standards… I look forward to hitting REPLY on their next email and saying “Out of respect for your high standards, I will no longer donate money to you, because at various times in my 50+ years on this planet, I have said culturally insensitive things. Therefore, I will not sully your pure souls with my dirty cash.”

        1. Excellent response comment for JD requests for donations to the mother-ship!
Like you, I’m 50+ and I don’t remember half the stupid shit I may have said in high school.

No need to “sully” their pure souls with cash attained from a past sinner.
          VERY good point.

          1. As you’ve stated earlier, screw the JD staff; Cenk is and always will be JD founder along with Kyle Kulinski. These SJW douchenozzles with their infinitesimal and inaccurate viewpoints aren’t and never ought to be responsible for any staffing decisions, in other words those dudes are replaceable, even though Cenk the classy guy tweets that they’ve done a gr8 job, horse BS, they’ve essentially shot themselves in the foot and both the people who had the PR response did such a gr8 smear job they ought to essentially be fired or forced to resign, but at the very least give a formal and super descriptive apology to Cenk which should be 8 times longer than their smear job …. and I know Cenk reads these comments, he’s said so himself, literally ppl like Sargon of Akkad, one of his biggest premier haters are unanimously defending him, which should tell you something when your own supposed ‘enemies’ are aligning with your integrity, it shows Cenk has a lot more supporters than these idiot JD candidates do. So support the candidates, sure, fund the JD org, fuqk no, not until their leadership is purged and everyone who’s been forced to resign is precisely put back in their leadership positions….. this really pissed me off as I know it pissed off 90% of TYT audience, without which JD is as good as the Lite version of Green Party Lite, no hyperbole here. 100% leadership power play I wonder how many books of amoral Power these fruit flies have read. Also, just search the petition which asks for formal apologies to be issued to Cenk and sign it as I and thousands of other TYT fans have so JD knows everyone is watching their BS and they’ll be held accountable for all their actions. Thanks

      2. I was already skeptical of them for ignoring the already running opponent of Diane Feinstein because they wanted another woman in office. They claimed it was just an overzealous staffer who sent that email but now it looks like that’s status quo at JDs. Sad.
