  1. Good job! It’s always nice to hear from Emma. Malcom’s joke “… always cutting them off or talking over them. I’m sorry Emma, were you saying something?” was hilarious. I’m a little worried that Emma will become cynical before long, however. Her job isn’t an easy one. Hopefully Malcom’s sense of humor can keep her optimistic.

  2. I don’t know why but that intro voice every time cracks me up. It’s so old school like PBS news show intro. :)

  3. This was an excellent discussion, and I really enjoyed Malcolm’s perspective and insightful analysis.

However, this content was similar to what we could find on any of TYT’s other shows or the TYTPolitics YouTube/Facebook pages.  One of the strengths of _Reporting In_ is that Dave used it as an opportunity for the reporters and commentators to share with the members a more reflective perspective of their recent and ongoing work.  Here are some of the things I look for in _Reporting In_ as opposed to other TYT shows:
    • For new reporters/commentators, what’s their background?  How did they end up at TYT?
    • Are there any updates to or backlash from the reporter’s previous stories?
    • What are the major stories the person has been working on since their previous appearance on _Reporting In_?
    • [Follow-up questions about those particular stories.]
    • What challenges or setbacks have they encountered in their research and/or reporting?
    • How have other journalists and media outlets approached or ignored these same stories as compared with TYT?
    • How has the reporter/commentator (and TYT in general) been received/viewed by the communities they’ve visited recently?  How about by other journalists and media outlets?
    • What stories do you want to cover or investigate next (if it’s not secret)?
    • What TYT inside baseball can you share?  What’s happened on your travels, what’s changing/evolving with your work/job, and where do you see things going from here?
    • How is my membership fee and journalism drive contribution being used?  (This isn’t an explicit question that needs answering.  It’s one that I can answer for myself based on these interviews, among other things.)

Dave used to ask some pretty bold questions.  For example, he asked in what ways a reporter disagrees with Cenk Uygur and the Main Show on a particular story.  Rather than discussing the issues or debating the reporter, Dave used _Reporting In_ as an interview-type show to present the reporter’s experiences and views.  I found that format to be both valuable and distinct from other TYT shows.

As always, I love Malcolm on TYT.  As one of the Proud 19, I look forward to his Friday Post-Games.  I’m not complaining about Malcolm vs. Dave.  I just think _Reporting In_ had a valuable niche, and I’d like to see that continue.  Also, I’d love to see Cenk plug _Reporting In_ during the Main Show.

    Love you, TYT!
