  1. Cenk, I’m really disappointed with your view on what was done to the Armenians by the Ottoman Empire.
You say they were “driven out of the country”.
    This is from history.com:

“By the early 1920s, when the massacres and deportations finally ended, some 1.5 million of Turkey’s Armenians were dead, with many more forcibly removed from the country.

Today, most historians call this event a genocide–a premeditated and systematic campaign to exterminate an entire people.

However, the Turkish government does not acknowledge the enormity or scope of these events.
Despite pressure from Armenians and social justice advocates throughout the world,
it is still illegal in Turkey to talk about what happened to Armenians during this era.”

    “Driven out of the country”?
If 1.5 million dead Armenians is not a Genocide, then what is?

  2. We need a TYT meetup for Members to hang out with each other. TYT Northern, TYT Northeastern, TYT Southern, TYT Western, TYT Central meet-ups. or TYT State meetup where each state hosts TYT meetup for members.

I can’t express how American Dream(Exceptionalism) has confused Cenk and broad explanation of Asian/Africa history by Cenk is Orientalist feel and needs to be ADDRESSed in-person… Love the coverage BUT they r twisting the International News…portion very dangerously…

  3. Late to the “party”

So occasionally I go through spells and have to catch up on episodes one after the other to keep up to date. This one was a good reminder of why the news these days is not helping me in my quest to cut back on drinking. I am just crying. That story was so hard… I feel sick

  4. “We have a dream”. I lived in Moscow for years and volunteers with an NGO that helped repatriate Africans who had been illegally trafficked into Russia, mainly be con-artists who would tell them that they could come to Russia and work and save money to go to Europe and bring their families. The families would pitch in to send the one hope for all of them. When they got to Russia they would find themselves with no money and no job in a rather racist country, they didn’t have proper papers and no Russian language. That was for the men, the woman were usually were given a job, but not one they wanted. We weren’t able to help a lot of the women because they would have had to literally escape their slave masters. Although I was born and raised in Canada, I’ve learned to despise Westerners who can so selfishly flaunt their advantage and then disdain those who just want a chance. I feel sick hearing those stories.

  5. i second jhufford!

What a terrible disappointment to see TYT share the blind-spots of corporate media :(

Christopher Hedges and Dylan Ratigan should slap you upside the head for failing to mention NATO’s role in destabilizing Lybia during Obama and Clinton’s tenure. Don’t even get me started on how fucked up we did Gaddafi the ;ast few decades…

point is my jaw dropped when Cenk said “Obviously, what’s happening in Lybia has nothing to do with us…”

  6. Be great if John moved to Oxford, England and hosted TYT U.K. he could revel in his surroundings, complete his academic work and stir up the young Brits, who need a rocket up their lazy non-political arses.

  7. Who set up the lock button in Lauers office? Really doubt that was a diy project. Was it a stipulation of his contract?

  8. Yes, we need to stop this but many do not know how on an individual level how to affect change on a particular matter.

Questions come up from “ who do I contact and how, which is most effective mode of communication to people in power, who are they, how can I learn more, what resources do I have at my disposal, …am I old enough to participate in the conversation etc…

    TYT,
Can you do some kind of education tutorial? Knowledge is power for us all but especially the younger generation.

  9. Actually if you rewatch that clip I think he did use the word genocide in relation to the Armenians. This is one of the clearest time I’ve heard him do so. My best guess is that there has long been family reasons for him not to address it too directly (notice how in the video he rants about Turks ignoring denying it happened, like he sort of did at one point). He was likely raised in an environment where this was taboo.

But he’s been more and more upfront about it recently. Now he clearly and unequivocally acknowledges that it happens.

  10. A 5th woman just came out and accused Al Franken of “cupping her breast”… After reading the story and seeing the photo, I AM CONVINCED that out of all the accusations against men, THIS IS THE ONE that is the hit job. No question this one is a hit job. NO DOUBT. Every other liberal or Dem who’ve been brought down by these accusations I totally believe. But not this one. It it clearer than day the Al Franken one is orchestrated. Too bad.

  11. Regarding 45s ability to lock up anyone, doesn’t he already possess the ability to do that via the NDAA that 44 signed into law?

  12. Wow what a show, John is so strong speaking over Cenk at times (rightly) and so humble in not taking the prediction win, both at the same time. I love it Can’t wait to the PG. Thank you.

I believe TYT will change the world, which is why I’m super proud that I gave for TYT investigates and love the progressive change through JD and WP.

  13. I like TYT and I like Cenk. I love that you guys are trying to incite some real, tangible, meaningful political change and inform people of how the government is constantly trying to fuck us. That’s why I’m giving you 10 bucks a month.

But Cenk, why don’t you ever call the Armenian genocide a genocide? I’ve watched you for years and you have never said the word genocide when talking about the genocide that killed 1.5 million Armenians. I’ve never been one to be picky with word usage but this is easily one of your biggest criticisms and I’ve still never heard you call it a damn genocide.

Stop tip-toeing around it and just call it what it is when it comes up.

    1. From this vid:

“…But the ones who do do it, you know of course the ottoman government … “hey where did all the Armenians go?” don’t care, they’re not going to admit it, and they’re not going to talk about the genocide and they’re going to protect their own, now the Croats …”

      From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenk_Uygur
“As of 2017, his full acceptance of the term “genocide” was indicated in the main TYT program first on September 7 when he referred to it as the Armenian genocide while discussing Myanmar’s Muslim genocide, and then again in the main TYT program on November 29, while discussing the in court suicide of war criminal Slobodan Praljak, he again referred to it as the Armenian genocide twice.”

Seems pretty clear cut to me that he (at least since Sept 7 2017 ) does say refer to it as the Armenian genocide?

      1. hmm, actually, I was not paying attention to later in that story when he talks about it again, and there he does seem to tip toe around it and not say “genocide”. That’s maybe a bit awkward I agree

    2. He has numerous times stop using anti-tyt talking points because you can’t do basic research… or just stop being a troll

  14. What Cenk? What’s happening in Libya has nothing to do with us? What is TYT, mainstream crap? Who do you think got rid of Gaddafi? The people most to blame are Obama and Hillary Clinton. Libya had the highest human development index in all of Africa prior to Nato’s bombing and deposing of Gaddafi. Now it has terrorist training camps and slave auctions, this is our fault.

Tyt, you should really be ashamed of yourself for such shoddy coverage, even John tried to say Obama would have been different, when it’s largely his fault… Oh wait, are we only looking forward?

    1. Do you know any Libyans? Do you have any idea about life in Libya for the average Libyan before they rebelled? Have you ever heard about the rape chambers in which Africans were imported by Qaddafi to rape female relatives of opposition members on tape and distribute those tapes to the relatives?

It should be telling that the people who raped Qaddafi with an iron pole before lynching him were his own tribal kinsmen in his own hometown.

As for the slave market, it is a sad reality but those slave markets existed during Qaddafi’s time when Qaddafi ran the smuggling routes into Europe and auctioned people to Italian and French Mafia bosses.

      1. You sound just like the people justifying the invasion of Iraq… Six years later and Libya barely has a government.

        1. Libya had a government and a functioning one at that for nearly 3 years after Qaddafi fell. It was Obama’s “leadership from behind” and active support for the MB (through Qatar/Turkey) who lost the elections in 2014 that lead to that country unraveling.

      2. What is your point other than shitting on the plight of these people… maybe consider what point you are trying to make and when it’s the time to make that point
