  1. I agree with alot of the comments on today’s board and want to add to conversation. As a TYT member, I don’t understand why the main show continues to overly focus on Trump related stories, whether it’s his tweets, or focus on his incompetence. I thought the objective of raising funds was so those reporters would report on the issues happening on the ground with TYT Live inserting these stories as part of the show. Instead I continue to tune in to see the same stories being talked about on MSM channels. I haven’t seen one segment on the live show show highlighting what Nomiki/Ty did in Puerto Rico https://youtu.be/8RF-N2x-6vY or latest news on where the Tax Bill stands like how vote was postponed today due to the protests happening inside Capitol Hill to try to stop it https://youtu.be/z-bv3YBstFI from Eric Byler.

    1. it’s way easier to prep for. You just take a couple news items to jump off of, and then let Cenk do his kindergarten psychology rant about what Trump thinks and how he thinks and why he thinks that, and the hour is over before you know it.

    2. Since Jordan Chertion was fired, TYT seems to have hit the pause on investigative journalism. Not seen anything out of them for a while, just rehashing stories that anyone could find from watching just a few minutes of cable tv.

  2. I disagree with Cenk, whoever wrote “You’re sixteen” was definitely a creep and had an older/16-year old relationship / an older gentleman’s fascination of a 16 year old in mind. It still has nothing to do with Roy Moore, except for the fact that it is a reflection of our culture and that it was accepted – the law itself is another reflection of that. I don’t agree with the point made of course, but it is also true that whenever people refer to societal influences on a criminal, we interpret and criticize it as excuse, even if we criticize the exact same culture ourselves…

Lately on TYT, bad people have never done bad things because of the culture that brought them up, influenced them etc – they’re all just idiots, morons, losers, can’t get laid, cucks etc. It’s annoying.

I also wonder if Cenk still thinks like ~3 years ago. He said he believes the legal age of consent should be 16. When Ana asked him if he would be OK if his daughter was dating a 75 year old, his answer was almost surprisingly clear: yes. See, I’m not sure if it should be 16 or 18, but I do have a problem with the fact that people lump in everything together with Moore. Doing anything with/to a 14 year old is child molestation. Doing anything to another person against their consent is at least sexual assault if not rape, regardless of age (over the age of consent) and circumstances (“behind a dumpster” / in bed with a lot of pillows to feel comfortable – doesn’t matter). Consensual relationships between people who can legally consent is OK – it might make you cringe, but there is NOTHING wrong with that.

So why muddy the waters by lumping all things together in this case? It just makes it harder to control the narrative…

  3. Trump’s stream of consciousness keeps showing us who he really is.

    It’s painful, but perhaps necessary.

I like to hope his bumbling is making more people aware of how messed up our system is.

  4. 405,000 US dead to get the Nazis out of Berlin in 1945 – how many to get the Nazis out out Washington DC in who knows when?

  5. Euroyankee makes an excellent point. TYT, with its large viewership, is the only option for us to get the larger picture about the good cop-bad cop collusion between the Dems and the GOP on most issues affecting our economic future. Maybe it’s time for you to run a more intellectually comprehensive show on TYT, to replace Jordan Chariton’s show (and in studio and not some dude’s kitchen). Most of these issues require a Moyer’s Journal type exposition. Love your daily show, with the merry banter and me too jingoism about social issues and politics, but you have also attracted an audience that has the attention span and need for deeper analysis, the kind we get from Cenk, in small, monologued doses, which clearly take away from the light, pluralistic atmosphere of the show, but which is the only reason I watch and donate. Please exceed the bar you have raised. I’m tired of rummaging through everything from Real News Network to Democracy Now to Truthout and The Intercept, etc., desperately trying to find the level of analysis that you guys aren’t quite providing, except for Cenk, when he can “bogart the stage” for a hot minute. You’re our only hope, TYT. Let’s go!

    1. This is a very good, and well intentioned critique. You have well illustrated exactly my same thinking. Perhaps the jingoism is needed to keep the attention of the millennials. And they will help us win 2018 and 2020, and I would like some of Cenk’s in depth reporting on this new wave.

      1. If one group wants another group to join them, the 1st group should not insult the 2nd group. Millennials have many strengths, including a more than adequate attention span, and millennials did do their part in 2016 by voting for Hillary Clinton. (88% of Bernie supporters voted for Clinton, which includes the many, many millennials Bernie brought into the political process.) As far as millennials “helping us,” who is “us” and will “us” put forth a genuine candidate who will commit to fighting for the working class and not take corporate donations?

  6. Ringo Starr:
Great Britain age of consent is 16 – just pointing this out even though it wasn’t Ringo’s song. Take this as a grain of salt though because the comparison was ridiculous by the Breitbart editor. Joe Pollak acts like a child during the interview.

    Switching Gears:
Massive amounts of respect for all Native Americans who served our country. My wife’s birth father’s family can trace themselves back to the Trail of Tears, so it’s a horrible calamity to have Andrew Jackson hanging in the oval office. It’s bad enough that he’s on our $20 bill. If we had a “debt” bill, Trump would be on the -$20 bill.

  7. No Doubt has a song called Sixteen about being a horny sixteen year old and being considered to young. Jerry lee louis literally married his underage cousin. None of that justifies rape or sex with minors. its a typical right wing slippery slope argument except theyre worried about…….what? NOT being able to hit on young girls without being called out? He almost hinted that in the good ol days we could have sex with girls as young as we wanted. So disgusting!

ALSO TYT forgive me if i havent seen you cover it yet im just catching up right now but can you guys talk about the slave auction in Libya?

    1. Slave auction? In Libya? Can you post a link to the story?

I’m a little, for lack of a better word, intrigued by this development. I know Libyan citizens overthrew a despot a few years dago and it hasn’t exactly been peaches and ponies since then, and that they’ve had issues with ISIS and other nations–but holy hell. Slave auctions?

  8. Members deserve more answers on the matter of Jordan Chariton. The issue is NOT resolved merely because you fired him. We deserve to know what Cenk knew and when he knew it. I don’t give a DAMN about “Jordan’s Privacy”. He’s suing the company! Our donations and member fees will now be going to defend TYT from this litigation. So if Cenk wants us to keep the money rolling in for him, TYT, and their shared goals, he needs to give us more than a 5 minute statement on the issue, or should we believe the accusations that HA Goodman is making on YouTube as gospel, Cenk? Because if you don’t defend yourself and the company then we’ll be left with only one side of the story. I want answers!

    1. What else can be said at this point? This just happened. Also, during litigation, there will likely not be a lot of information released. I bet when things come to a head, there will be an update. Hashing everything out publicly seems like a really bad idea, for both sides.

Who the hell is HA Goodman?

    2. I agree, it’s not over.

First of all, I have watched/read now the following material and came to a final conclusion:
      – The original HuffPost article
      – Cenk’s statement
      – The Intercept article
      – Jordan’s 2 Medium articles
      – The Chelsea Lyons Facebook live interview
      – The Carly Hammond interview on The Tim Black show

sorry, hate to say it, but it’s not “just” a workplace/”made a mistake issue”. Jordan is guilty of an extremely abusive behavior, creating a constant hostile work environment. Both Jordan and Chelsea Lyons are sexual predators guilty of sexual assault / maybe rape (“penetration with fingers”). It is heartbreaking to hear someone blaming herself over and over again for being a victim. All of her “questionable” decisions happened AFTER the fact in an extreme psychological situation – there is nothing wrong with her decisions beforehand. Ty is maybe the least guilty, but also not necessarily innocent – there might be other enablers as well (but I don’t think with TYT, more with TATM). It raises the question of Ty’s status after coming back from Puerto Rico tho.

Here is a young woman 20 years old, believing in TYT, getting in contact with Jordan, thinking she’s living a dream – fascinated by Cenk and motivated by Ana to become politically active – what follows is torment and psychological torture. I don’t know what the legal situation is, what TYT can or can’t do, all I know is that here we have one of the most fascinating cases, one that has so many layers and perspectives and unexpected twists and turns and is yet so clear at the end – a story a normal TYT panel could talk 20min about, let alone ThinkTank, PopTrigger etc. A guy that we respected and a young woman doing stuff to another young woman so similar to all the other stories, including the Charlie Rose shower trick. And we can literally see how everything unfolds in the exact same patterns we’ve seen so often before, the victim blaming herself etc. So it is unsatisfactory enough that we can’t have any of that debate/conversation, because it happened (at least technically/legally) in-house, but in a perfect world TYT would hire Carly Hammond now.

I guess that’s impossible, but at the very least, watch the Tim Black interview and keep her in mind and if there is any way how at least individual TYT hosts or staff can contact her, just talk to her as a human being, that would go very far and she was expecting it.

Let me just say, that I don’t like and don’t trust HA Goodman, I think the guy is a fraud and his relationship with Tim Black does bother me, but I don’t think this plays any role in this case – Carly didn’t even watch TBTV, all she was talking about was TYT.

I guess the question for us members is, besides the just human aspect of a young woman’s fate, is TYT clear – as a company? Can we trust TYT that things like that can’t happen as easily in the future, that people are aware and have mechanisms in place, can we rely on TYT to handle cases like this professional and to the best possible outcome for the company while taking care of people working for or with them?

You’re right, no one has money to throw into the garbage or just burn in court.
Ask the DNC how fundraising goes once people don’t trust you any more.

Don’t get me wrong, I do trust TYT still, but the whole thing is extremely frustrating and it leaves a stale taste in my mouth as well that the whole thing is declared over now and nobody wants to / will talk about it any more…

      1. I agree, for the most part. As Dao85 said, if this is going into litigation, TYT likely won’t/can’t/shouldn’t say much more on the subject. It’s totally frustrating and I hate this all happened. Unfortunately, some (maybe all) of it did happen and Jordan made his own choices. While I have read all the articles you cited, I hadn’t intended on watching the two interviews but you’ve convinced me otherwise. I also continue to trust TYT and will keep doing so until I’m given a solid reason to stop. I do hope that this situation doesn’t completely tear the company or its fans/members apart, as that would be the most favorable outcome for certain people/organizations and those in power.

  9. Does anyone have any demographic info about the TYT audience? I am wondering how many TYT members are Trump supporters. My informal survey estimates that Cenk spends about 35% – 50% pf his on-air time every week criticising Trump and pointing out how stupid and despicable he is. And his comments are always punctuated with admonitions and exhortations to thee TYT “Trump Supporters.”

If there is a substantial cohort of Trump supporters among the TYT fan base, then trying to point out the flaws and crimes of their hero is a worthy enterprise. But I don’t think that is the case.

I feel ripped off. Instead of covering actual news about war, income inequality, and progressive politics, I am constantly subjected to more and more stories about how Trump is such a moron. I know! I get it!

Please, Cenk – tell me something I DON’T know!!

    1. Case in point this week – the whole CFPB scandal was covered simply by pointing out what an authoritarian dick is and how he wants to kill the agency.

Why not cover how Corporate Democrats are helping hamstring the CFPB and joining with Republicans to loosen regulation on PayDay lenders? Why not alert your viewers in Florida – who probably are Democrats – to these corporate shills?

      From http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/35106-democrats-join-republicans-to-block-consumer-protections-for-payday-loans

“With the finalized rules expected to be announced soon, the House GOP introduced a bill that would delay the CFPB’s rules for two years and nullify the law in any state that has a payday lending law like the one in Florida. Florida’s law does provide some limits, such as the amount and length of the loan. Nevertheless, borrowers can still find themselves paying an equivalent APR of 500 percent and it has not stopped the cycle of rollover loans, with 76 percent of borrowers in the state using them to repay previous ones.

The bill’s sponsors include Democratic representatives from Florida, the most notable being DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). She was part of the state legislature to create the law, and wants the CFPB to incorporate rules that more closely resemble Florida’s, which was supported by the payday lending industry. The seven Democratic sponsors include other Florida reps. Consumer groups say Florida’s law is a sham and the one proposed by Congress is equally dangerous.”

      1. I suspect that there is a measurable ratio of Trump trolls who watch the free You Tube TYT, but only a very tiny number that pay subscription prices to troll here (though they do exist).

Regardless, combusting endlessly against Trump will never change those minds, and it is tiresome to the rest of us.

        1. I saw this segment, but I believe that was regarding a different scandal, not the PayDay lending debacle.

Yes, what Cenk and Anna are talking about is loosening of regulations that may make another bailout likely, but what about the changes that will allow Payday Lenders to gouge more Americans?

IOW, not doing the bidding of banks, but specifically working against the CFPB? This is DWS and other Florida Dems just doing dirt against poor and working class people.

    2. Agreed, I had to stop watching…I waited till this morning to revisit this episode. I saw an interview with Jane Fonda, I was never a big fan, but her interview was amazing! She is clearly a lib who would love to see trump’s political demise. She said: I go door-to-door talking to folks about trump, I NEVER put him down, instead I try to tell them something they don’t know about his politics. I TURN them with love!….nice trick Jane, you need to give lessons!

    3. I dont mind that they talk about trump often though yeah i wish they spent a little more time talking about international news and should maybe have a seperate show focusing on international trade/military news

    4. If they still support Trump then they are dumb and deserve to be called as such (unless they are members of the 1% of course).

  10. It is past time to Nationalize the banks, They are NOT honest actors in our society and banking is a major part of our society.

  11. The entire goal of the current White Nationalist movement is to seem like ordinary people. It is an unfortunate fact that people that don’t understand the hatred and danger behind these movements, and the end roads they have made in this country, and how each time they leave everyone in it and the rest of the world teetering on the edge of the abyss. An excellent book on the subject is the Vanishing Middle Class. When we look at the backstory of some terrorist, we find ways that they were affected by the people they were targeted. In an alternate reality were the New York Times decides to examine the lives of the educational opportunities that make a child in the inner city who turns to a life of crime, we may find a lesser degree of despair than the terrorist faces yet we would still see a story. In his mostly white little town with a history of discriminatory policies, we just find out how baseless his hatred is. Nazis look at humanity and hate, humanity looks back and returns that hate. When the scales weigh both the Nazi is found wanting, even when compared to the Terrorist. That is why a Nazi is only superior to a terrorist in evil. He would pet his dog and kill his neighbor because in this one moment in time his skin gives him a feeling of superiority and nothing else. There have been many empires in the past, and if humanity goes on, it is likely there will be many in the future. When one rises, the primitive assumption is it must be because of the innate superiority of its people. Then they fall, and another takes its place and is often more arrogant than the last. If you kill your fellow man just because you can, your fucking evil. If you advocate that than you are an advocate for evil. A terrorist has more redeeming qualities than this scum that The United States has decided to give another hearing to, as this country so often does. Jank, the article, and the United States need to stop sympathizing with this level of trash.

      1. I think you can agree that the answer is “solutions”. This is a multi-pronged issues; and thus will only be solved by multiple solutions.. Someone earlier said they speak to others about Trump but not about his worst parts but about what he hasn’t delivered on or makes sense; it takes POC to not bade and abade the folks and elite around them with their viewpoints and do their best to try to make them understand that they are stealing from everyone. Of course these fools are “ordinary” people… I mean like at Archie Bunker all the ways in the 70s!!! That was the point, and I think that some work has been done to make it seem that the real issue is only the “fringe”. The truth is that extremism has been around for awhile, but has become less and less palatable; and this time is a direction reaction to that esp. when the “Big Tent” party hasn’t done a great job covering them.

  12. The codetalkers had nothing to do with code breaking or Nazis. They served in the Pacific and were responsible for sending and receiving messages relayed first in English and then translated by them into Navajo over Radio.

    1. He’s getting that mixed up with Nazi “Enigma” code machine. And, Cenk messed that up too. He’s referring to Alan Turing , and he wasn’t the first one to break the Enigma Code. It was first cracked by Polish mathematicians

  13. I’m sure one of the reasons also that Trump put Andrew Jackson up was because he’s on the $20 and that’s where Trump’s knowledge of Andrew Jackson starts and stops.

    1. Or maybe he just enjoys the Trail of Tears; the fact that he went into a duel with someone got shot in the chest and waited to align his shot (as in duel rules…) and shot Dickerson straight to his death (which he was hated for in TN).

I mean whatever “great” Jackson story Trump got tunneled to him

  14. I agree with Cenk on the NYT article.

I grew up in Germany, it’s not the same country it was 80 years ago, obviously. One of the things that helped Germans learn their lessons was to accept, that Nazis are not monsters that come out of an alternative dimension, but parents, grandparents, great-grandparents.

I hear Brett if he says that’s not news in 2017, but is it? The question is, what are we supposed to do with those guys? If a group is small enough, you can just completely ignore them, but then they are not dangerous. If we deem them dangerous it means they are definitely enough people so that we can’t ignore them. So what do we do? Nazis, white supremacists, the alt-right, conspiracy theorists, trolls – we always say “I don’t debate a …, that legitimizes him/her/them” – OK, so how do we change people’s minds? If we don’t challenge the status-quo, then that’s the status-quo. In peaceful times ~6% of the population are absolute nut-jobs, in America right now that number seems to be closer to 25-30%. That’s a problem, that’s the problem – we have to know who they are, we have to remind ourselves that they are human beings, because if not, we’ll one day see people referencing Seinfeld, taking care of a dog or a cat, listening to interesting music and go “that guy can’t be too bad, look at all the nice things he surrounds himself with” while the guy is secretly planning a genocide…

We read, write or like articles either by the way that describe the life of ISIS fighters or how socio-economic conditions side by side with ideology can be responsible for recruiting terrorists. We always defend those arguments and emphasize over and over again that it doesn’t mean we defend terrorism. Economic factors in the mid-west seem to have similar radicalizing effects on people, make alt-right/Nazi tendencies more common. That should be a left-wing argument anyway. If we believe that hunger and war turn “relatively normal people” into radical Jihadists, is it really impossible to imagine how economic hardships in the heartland of America turn “relatively normal people” into Nazis? Is that an excuse or an apology? I don’t think so, truth is just hard at times to accept. The people we have to fight live in the midst of us.

If that makes you feel sympathetic with Nazis or Jihadists – that’s on you…

  15. But guys Trump isn’t racist he just tells it like it is! *rolls eyes* It’s amazing that some people still say that.

  16. Ummmm, Cenk I think the bias against Bernie was a bit more than implicit ; sixteen negative articles about him in 24 hours. Please no more MSNBC talking points.

  17. Cenk… I worked in a bank for many years… It was not Wells Fargo, but when the news broke about them, I wasn’t surprised. The upper executives push people with the threat of firing them unless they make sales goals in any way possible… Every month that I worked in a branch there was talk about how if the sales didn’t improve you could lose your job.

  18. We are living in, worse than interesting times, but ridiculous times. It sucks when I have to be ashamed for nothing I did, but some freak I have no input to whatsoever. I want to be proud to call myself American, but when I go abroad, I pretend to be Canadian. It’s just nicer.

    1. Don’t pretend to be Canadian be American. If all of the nice Americans pretend to be Canadians when they travel then people don’t get to meet nice Americans. I am Canadian and I love meeting Americans when I travel. Unless it’s the Super Bowl, then Americans get tribal and weird.

      1. What Americans do you encounter? I only say that have-jokingly- I know of Americans that fit in the tribal category and others that say “Who’s in the Superbowl again? and which one is it? Super-bowl CXII?”.

        1. I just don’t care to be associated with obvious Assholes, I like Peace & Inclusivity. How can THOSE guys be representative of Me? We’ll take care of them, but in the meantime, please allow me the space necessary to promote Good rather than Evil, as I can or I can actually do. Reality has become surreal.

  19. Thanks for this speedy upload guys! I was half asleep during the live stream, still kind of jet lagged from my trip to England and Wales last week.

    Welcome back from Thanksgiving guys!
