Cenk shares a badass snakehead dinosaur discovery story. Ana contemplates becoming an interior designer, while Cenk mistakenly believes he can be a good comedian.
@TazKidNoah
I think it’s the raspy voice she’s got going on. Even me., as a straight woman in a relationship finds the timbre of her voice kind of sexy. Your crush will pass.
Cenk (sorry y’all, meant to make this one comment.) I’ve been considering trying surfing. When I saw that shark-snake, my response: OH FUCK THAT JESUS CHRIST HOW DOES THAT EXIST NO NO NO NO NO NO FUCK THAT NO NO NO NOPE FUCK THAT NONSENSE IT LOOKS LIKE CTHULHU’S NEPHEW FUCK THAT SHIT!!!!
Ana, fuck these comments, go for the interior design. You’ll never know if you’re good at it until you try. Even if you fail (or just don’t enjoy it), what’s the harm? Try it girl!
No one here is triggered. It’s a comment section and we’re commenting because it’s not about a “decades old television show.” Jacques Cousteau was a significant cultural figure and his name is synonymous with all things marine—he didn’t just have a little show in the 80s. Odd that she hadn’t ever heard of him—not a critique of Ana per se, but an observation.
In her defense (not that you were attacking her or anything like that) I didn’t here of Jacques until I listened to Blue Oyster Cult (Weird, I know. Bite me.) I checked his shit out when I heard about him- solid stuff. Man knows his shit. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the other 70% of this planet (the oceans). Enter his name in the search-bar on youtube. You’ll learn a lot.
My mother is an interior designer, and it’s only fun when you’re designing for yourself, not others. Throw in a few crazy clients with way more money than sense? Especially in LA? Whole different ballgame. It’s like 30% design, 70% psychotherapy.
Yes, Cenk is funny, great timing and turns of phrase that accurately represents the craziness of the issue. I hate to do this but I also agree with Cenk that he and Ana should stick with progressive journalism which you are both passionate for and great at. Sorry Ana, I never thought the day would happen that I agreed with Cenk rather than you but there you have it. Please feel free to totally ignore me of course
As stupid as it may be (to others), I’m glad you included the bit about “Please feel free to ignore me of course”. I think we (everyone) needs to be able to make suggestions while also admitting they may be wrong and bad ideas. Not saying your’s is! All I’m saying is that acknowledging we may be wrong is incredibly important to a constructive conversation. Keep it Up Sue!
I agree bullfrog21. I feel a bit bad because I was being selfish here because I love Ana’s contribution to political and social debate so much. If wanting to be an interior designer is a real passion for Ana she should do it, I’m sure she would be great. And you’re also right that it is best not to be left wondering if one should have done something else with their life.
P.S. sorry Ana for trying to plan your future on your behalf,
Are you people really that out of touch? Jacques Cousteau was a military leader, a scientist, a filmmaker and a champion for sea life among other things. His TV show was on fro 1977 to 1982 and then went into syndication. My 20 year old granddaughter is familiar with him and his work, your not that young.
If Ana wasn’t so concerned with herself and how wonderful she is, she may be a bit more informed. She needs to be careful she doesn’t break her arm patting herself on her back.
Totally! I watched Cousteau in school and it was amazing! That and The Voyage of the Mimi with a very young Ben Affleck were on constantly in the 80’s and 90’s, seems like it wasn’t a priority on this coast (I’m from the Midwest, which in all honesty is a decade or two behind the rest of the country). :P
Great Post Game! I really like when they get this self involved and take the piss out of themselves, everyone thinks about what could’ve happened.
Why are you all getting so triggered about Ana not knowing about a TV show?? I’m sure there are plenty of things that you don’t know about but others would say “how the hell do you not know that?” We cant know or experience everything and the fact that you know something someone else doesn’t does not make you better or them worse. Also, how does not knowing about a decades old TV show (regardless of how great it may have been) about marine life affect how well Ana discusses politics (“what she does for a living”)?
Why are you triggered by reasonable criticism of Ana? It’s not just that she doesn’t even have a slight recognition of Jacques Cousteau, she really has no clue of anything that’s happened outside her own lifetime. I’ve heard her say she doesn’t care that she doesn’t know who Pol Pot is, that the gay right’s movement occurred exclusively within her own life time (even though it started years before she was born) and she seems to think it’s a new phenomenon that real estate in urban centers is expensive, probably because she recently became interested in purchasing a home. It’s fine not to know things but the lack of curiosity about anything that doesn’t affect her personally is off-putting.
Agree with you 100% Reba. Lack of intellectual curiosity about anything outside of one’s life experience or cultural sphere is a little off putting. Not knowing something is one thing, not caring about not knowing it or not understanding the cultural relevance of things that occurred before your time isn’t really acceptable for someone who considers themself a journalist.
So my contribution is don’t turn everything you love into work. That’s the fastest route to not loving anything anymore. We enjoy doing things because we choose to do them, not because we have to. If it’s a job, then you have to, and the magic is gone.
maybe when you win TYT has global domination, progressives are in charge, money is out of politics. Then you can park the ship and try other careers, hobbies.
Wait are there really people out there that don’t know who Jacques Cousteau is? I mean yeah Cenk makes some odd references but I was under the impression that everyone knew he was
Ana — Saw Jacques Cousteau and his Calypso helicopter while I was visiting Hannibal, MO, in early 1980s. Cousteau was filming his Mississippi River documentary. He was well protected and stayed to himself, but my daughter managed to get Cousteau’s autograph when he came to the same restaurant as us for lunch. Cousteau has left a wonderful legacy: https://www.cousteau.org/english/
I grew up watching Cousteau’s weekly tv show on the Calypso in the 80’s, it was magical. He made kids and adults (80’s kids) in France dream! He was an inspiration to a lot of folks worldwide that are caring for sea life, from activists to scientists and their research…
Also, yeah, I completely understand Ana!! I’m awesome at interior design, just….for other people’s places…. When it comes to my place….Ugh…. There is definitely not enough hours per day!!!! Why??!!!
In ’68 or ’69 I managed to go aboard the Calypso when it was docked in San Juan, PR.
My then lover had fake Press ID which got us into great stuff.
Cousteau wasn’t here that day but the crew was a lot of fun [and handsome~!]
Looking out the main window…even tho the harbor was murky…was such a thrill.

I loved his stuff. However, it probably depends on where you live. I haven’t seen any of his work in 30 years and I love documentaries.

i never had a crush on Ana and I’m starting to,…..even thou she’s married…is it bad to start thinking/feeling this way?

The last two post games have been great. Cenk and Ana are very entertaining when chatting together

Cenk couldn’t be a comedian because he’s way too happy and doesn’t hate himself.
Jacques Cousteau is not an obscure reference. Sorry Ana…

Ana disturbingly lacks any sense of history especially given what she does for a living.

There’s craziness in the control room!
And that Snake-Thing was a Goa’Uld from Stargate!!!
