  1. Hannah’s bit about racism honestly made me want to cancel my membership. That’s such bull for 90% of the racially prejudiced interactions people have. If you’re talking about a systemic situation, that’s one thing. But you can’t just say present discrimination only exists due to historical prejudices.

That simply isn’t how bigots think.

    1. Sorry BB, that is incorrect. Racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.
It has nothing to do with systematically disadvantaging anyone, that’s not correct. Just because Hanna said it doesn’t mean it’s correct, it might be her belief but it’s misguided.

      1. Racism is more than the dictionary definition. Sociologically it is about power and systems of oppression. It’s not Hannah saying it, it’s sociology. Google it.

        1. exactly, this fucking moron thinks that Hannah invented this concept. No wonder he’s so confused about what racism is. He seems like someone that might be afraid of reading books.

        2. I’m not getting into a pissing contest Radison, Racism isn’t a dictionary definition, the dictionary defines racism. Sociology has it’s part in the hatred expressed towards others but it’s not in the definition of racism. A black person hating a white person because of his race is not reverse racism, it’s just racism. It’s in a reverse situation than normally thought of but it’s just racism, by definition. You might have a different opinion and that’s ok but I’m not going to kick this back and forth over different opinions. Go Bernie, and you have a good night.

  2. This is why I fucking Gorge myself on TYT all the different hosts and opinions, Keep adding more and switching it up!

Man Hanna you get a lot of gripe but uh, fuck’em be you.

  3. As President I assume Trump’s phone is always setup to use a VPN and therefore there is no “special equipment”.

  4. I would like to see the “main show” work towards a more sober note. I’m not saying that the main 2 hours should be stiff, polished, or anything that resembles the mainstream…but yeah, less cutesy and jokey (especially cutesy). Sometimes, I honestly feel like I’m at a sorority party with some of these hosts.

Am I crazy to ask that the flagship TYT show take on the most current issues of our day with some seriousness?

YOU ARE THE ALTERNATIVE TO THE NETWORK PROPAGANDA.

I’m getting tired of the adolescent feel.

Look, there’s a place for goofy editorial-ism (I’m actually a fan), but the MAIN show shouldn’t be it (IMHO).

I think Jimmy Dore strikes the best balance between serious and funny. More of that please.

    1. Well stated Remy2k. I couldn’t agree more with your comments. I love the show for all the things you mentioned. To add to the criticisms, would be the constant cussing from certain hosts. I am not opposed to cussing in general and think it can serve a purpose, but some hosts do this too frequently (and outright yelling), that I am beginning to wonder if they have other words in their vocabulary. Also, I cannot watch this show around many people, especially young people, because of this, which is all too bad because I believe in many of the progressive stances the show takes. I would like to see Jimmy, Ben and Mark Thompson, and Grace on more regularly. Of course, John Iadarola is always stealer, fun and professional.

      1. Wait what you cant watch this around young people do to cussing but you want more Jimmy Dore. I don’t understand why people think that they cant allow swearing/cussing around young children or people, its a fucking word just like any other it is not a racial slur. You can say things around young people and have them not say it just like you can drink alcohol or drive a car or like anything else with an age restriction. Why do people have to have a Gazzilion reams or assloads of words for you to listen/watch, do you just like discriminating against people who like using easier more common words or had a deficient school experience?

  5. Mariah Carey story just shows the LIberal bais….This panel sees this story is a Joke?! but if the role were different…would a white guy be able to put female black workers in a sexual situation when a female worker wasn’t consenting to be an OK thing?!

also Mary was told from Angels that she would be pregnant soo i don’t know about unexpected?!

  6. Let me help you out: Blacks can’t be racist because racism has to have an effect. A black man calling a white man a cracker will have no effect on that white man’s life. To be clear blacks saying or doing things does nothing to systematically disadvantage white people politically, socially, and/or economically.

  7. I like Hannah, but the last time she hosted I couldn’t watch, the cadence and style of reading made it very hard to follow so I just deleted the rest of that hour. She is also too young to provide meaningful commentary. Not sure if it has anything to do with her age or it’s just her experiences, but I don’t learn anything new when she hosts. Not sure if that just means I am getting old.

  8. Take Hannah off the lead position on the second hour when Ana is out. She isn’t ready for this position. The number of uh’s. Especially annoying when listening only. There are better presenters to lead.

Enough with the TMZ Hollywood segments. Everyday it is something new with this topic. There is plenty to cover in its place.

  9. RACISM: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someONE of a different race based on the belief that ONE’s own race is superior.

    ANYONE can be a racist.
    It’s pretty simple.

    1. Have to agree with this. Appears people are residing the term racism as they see fit. It’s obvious which races I’m the US suffer most racism, but that doesn’t mean the term is uniquely for that brand of racism.

      1. If you just googled it you could find the sociological definition of racism. Yes, it is about systems of oppression. Like someone else said here, a black person calling a white person “cracker” has no effect on them. But the reverse perpetuates white supremacy. You wouldn’t use the dictionary to define a complicated subject like say calculus, right? It’s the same with nuanced sociological concepts.

  10. Brett, I know it bombed, but I liked the amalgam impression, though it could use a little less Walken.

Donald Trump circumventing the Chinese firewall is non-story because it’s standard procedure. I hate Trump as much as anyone, but you’ll find the secret service and DoD have been ensuring safe unfettered access to communication for every president for generations, regardless of local laws. This includes Internet access since at least Clinton. This is a good example of why we have things like diplomatic immunity, so diplomats and heads of state can break certain laws necessary for their own national interests.

  11. Hannah takes a BIG breath between every word. Add that to the ums, the likes, and the vocal fry and it is unwatchable/unlistenable (Is that a word?) I don’t disagree with her though. Also, love having Amberia on!

  12. Notre Dame is a private catholic institution, they can do whatever the fuck they want so long they don’t get federal/state money directly.

Don’t like it? Chose another school.

    1. The “if you don’t like the content, change the station” argument doesn’t work so well when the station is your career/education. People have a right to stand up for themselves regardless of whether the institution they are standing up against is private or public.

      1. There are thousands of accredited higher education institutions that give as good an education as Notre Dame and at a fraction of the price tag especially state schools.

If Notre Dame was a monopoly I would agree with your argument but it is not.

    1. She’s correct in certain academic definitions. I was taught the same thing in my history classes. That’s why she said the Sociologist could help explain, and she didn’t disagree completely, at all. She clarified with the whole “it depends what we mean by these terms.” It comes down to “race” and how Americans define it, officially. I’m not saying I agree with that, but it is indeed accurate in academic instances of sociological and historical terms.

  13. WOW Hannah did an amazing job of articulating why reverse racism isn’t possible, on the fly! I’m so impressed and honestly have gained a new respect for her. Such a great job.

  14. Meanwhile, in Oregon, we’ve had Stu Rasmussen since 2008. The nation’s first openly transgender mayor, in Silverton.

  15. I find it really hard to listen Amberia. I literally cringe when she ends a sentence with an upward-inflection, which is just about every one. I’m at the point where I skip watching when she is listed on the panel.

  16. Thank goodness it’s Hour 2, one more second of Jimmy or that NASAL Ron Placone and I’d have gone Ben Carson on their asses!

  17. Between the Jimmy Dore Show on hour 1 (I stopped watching the actual JDS for the same reason that I don’t listen broken records) and the Vapidity Hour here (look, I’m far from Ana’s biggest fan, but at least she’s intellectually honest, which speaks her affinity for nuance, none of which can be said of how Hannah presents, and Brett is too busy cracking wise to make room for depth beyond pop culture references), I’ll just wait until Cenk is back before coming back for news. Or I’ll stick with episodes of Old School that don’t involve the millennial crew (says a millennial who’s interested in hearing analysis that connects news and culture to their historical antecedents for the sake of context and, again, nuance) and not just snarky wise-cracks. FWIW.

  18. WTF is wrong with Hannah?! Of course “reverse racism” is a thing!!! But it’s just called “racism”. Racism can be prejudice or discrimination based on that prejudice. It doesn’t mean one can only be racist if their race is in a position to oppress others. It’s an incredibly lazy for her to fall into that, “Oh shit, a minority said something moronic so I’ll just turn my brain off and blindly agree.” I didn’t hear her saying that women cant be sexist or sexually harass men because that hasn’t historically been the case. It’s this stupidity that turns people on the fence to conservative.

I really need to remember not to bother with TYT when Cenk, John, or Anna aren’t on. Or at the very least adults who add something relevant to the conversation. When you let these juveniles run the show, it’s just a waste of time.

    1. Yeah, Hannah ruins any panel she’s on. I wish they’d stop putting her on the main show. She always falls into the ‘everything is about race’, ‘women are always oppressed’, safe space garbage.

  19. Thank god for Amberia Allen. She always says something smart and has an ability to get to the heart of the matter without beating about the bush. Keep it up Amberia! Good job Brett on pointing out the bullshit that Hannah was coming out with. Why does she always sound like she’s throwing up a sociology textbook?

  20. I haven’t watch the 2nd hour yet, and I’m reading about it touching “entertainment” news, being light. I like when Ana picks heavy subjects for the 2nd hour and I found silly when she apologizes for not “entertaining” that much. I like being inform about issues I might be missing. If I see Mariah Carey on the CNN website I might click and read a couple of lines, just to be inform… or not.

  21. Just one ahole’s opinion,
The pop culture news is rather irrelevant most of the time. I get it though, you want a lighter 2nd half but there has to be better stories out there. Things that are interesting, cutting edge or unique. Things we aren’t going to hear about from everybody else that really doesn’t need tyt’s perspective when there’s no facts to the story.

The 2nd half is starting to turn into a parody of progressives hour. We have this solid first hour covering important topics and then Mariah Carey and “no such thing as reverse racism”. While your sociological point has relevance in the context of American systemic racism, it doesn’t change the definition of racism or the fact that anybody can feel their race is superior, and talking points like that are exactly why you have groups of people who can’t take progressives seriously.

More and more lately I find myself skipping the second hour. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just trying to give you guys feedback.

  22. “Notre Dame reverses it’s decision on supplying birth control.” Indeed IT IS a decision. Its means Its. It’s means “IT IS” This is the most embarrassingly misspelled word in the English language, by a light year. I have seen it misspelled on fucking billboards!!!!! Its means its – singular possessive pronoun. IT’S MEANS IT IS SO IF THE PHRASE YOU ARE SPELLING IS SHORT FOR IT IS THEN IT IS AN APOSTROPHE. It’s means It Is. Let me say that again. IT with the word IS can be contracted to one word that means ” It Is” spelled as “It’s” Whenever you type either “Its” or “It’s” it’s so fucking simple – say in your head when you type “Does It Is make sense in this sentence? No? Then “Its” is the winner. If “It Is” makes sense then the apostrophe is the one.

GAWD this tilts me. It’s not even homophones of their, there or they’re. Again its means its. It’s means IT IS!!!!!!

    1. Ok, but like, you’re comment?…Its like not making any cents. Their are so many questions. Whom do you think you are? Its really cruel in it’s messaging. I meen, I get it’s point, but they’re are so many (literally a TON) of nicer ways to say things. OMG like reverse racism? Its not a thing mkay…But whatevs ^__^ persons like you nead to go read a book. Its a travasty. Byyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

~Its not the number of breaths we take, but the number of moments that take are breath away.~

  23. Hannah Cranstan, you have a double standard you were so sure of Kevin Spacey, but for the Mariah it is probable

  24. Aughhh, over 12 minutes spent discussing the TMZ article on Mariah Carey. This hour sucked, I had to skip through it. C’mon TYT, you’re better than this. Hannah is barely tolerable to listen to, and I feel like she’s been on way too frequently lately. At the very least, she shouldn’t be leading any segments.

    1. There are bigger themes at play that warrant a 10 minute segment. , and hannah rocks. You seem like you suck.

  25. Black people can’t be racist? this is some next level ultra far left BS or what? I am glad that Brett pushed back on that, but, I feel like he should have called her out far stronger…

    1. Yeah I was really disappointed to hear Hannah repeat that talking point. Racism is not inherently systemic. Props to Brett for pushing back on it although I agree he could have gone further.

    2. This whole convo reminds me of the controversy around using the word “privileged” and the assumptions people jump to when they hear the word versus the actual definition. I’ll try and clarify. Sorry if the following doesn’t make enough sense.

In my opinion, it’s just an issue with the actual definitions of the words/semantics. Racism, bigotry, prejudice, & discrimination are related but separate things. An American POC can be “prejudiced against white people” but they CAN’T be “racist” because racism has to do with the greater systemic bigotry, prejudice, & discrimination against those who are not “in power” (the “oppressed”) by members of the predominant demographic (the “oppressors”; in this case white).

It’s really just all due to the fact that english speakers are using the word “racism” as a catch-all term for anything related to racist behaviors or behaviors that act to enforce/continue racism. “Western Civilization” is seen as having the “power” in our current geopolitical environment so the “prototype” for a member of that civilization (light-skinned people of European descent) is perceived to be that of the “oppressor”. Likewise, if we were to apply this to Africans, South Americans, Asians, etc. then it becomes clear that in their specific cultures/communities it IS possible for POCs to be racist against light-skinned/white/opposing classes/castes/tribes/etc., but when looking at it through an American lens, it ISN’T possible for a POC in the US to be racist because they don’t have the means in which to enact their own prejudiced stereotypes or bigotry systemically.

      1. No, you don’t get to just change the meanings of words just to justify the racist comments of minorities. You and Hannah are conflating racism with systemic racism.

        1. “I FEEL LIKE I’M TAKING CRAZY PILLS”

-Me reading the comments trying to justify the “reverse racism isn’t a thing”…

As Cenk said in his Ben Shapiro debate…. “GOOGLE IT”

      2. Anthony, racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.
It has nothing to do with systematically disadvantaging anyone, that’s not correct. Just because Hanna said it doesn’t mean it’s correct, it might be her belief, and yours, but it’s misguided.

  26. Hannah, what you are referring to is systemic racism…. that doesn’t mean that an individual can’t be racist….even against white people. To try to shut down the conversation by saying “reverse racism isn’t a thing” is ridiculous and that’s the attitude that gets outside viewers to switch to another source.

Here I googled racism for you:
Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.

Bret, don’t be afraid to push for further clarification if you don’t understand or disagree with Hannah. You asked if an individual can be racist and Hannah had no answer because she was wrong.

    1. I agree with you completely. No such thing as reverse racism? wtf. That’s why I want Cenk here. He would have said something about that without worrying about sounding politically incorrect.

  27. I can’t stand Hannah. It feels like she gets all her talking points from Tumblr without any thought. Her argument about reverse racism is a perfect example. There is no systemic reverse racism, but to say that an individual can’t be racist because they are black is straight up nonsense. Bret and Amberia both shut that shit down. It’s even more bs when she’s talking about sexual assault when it also has a male-dominated form of attackers, which we could use the same argument of “there is no such then as reverse sexual assault, m-kay” statement. Not that we should, clearly.

Amberia and Bret are the only reason I watched this hour because they are awesome.

    1. I think you and I had the same thoughts at the same time, when I wrote my comment no one had called hannah out in the comments.

Hannah, either clarify your position so we can truly understand what you meant or take back your crazy statement.

    2. I agree. But I’m not sure if Amberia and Bret were trying to be polite by not going far enough, or if they bought into Hannah’s bs. I wonder what she thinks of the 4 black teenagers tortured that mentally disabled kid in Chicago.

“*F*ck Donald Trump!” one attacker shouted in the video. “F*ck white people!”

    1. Lol I like how you felt the need to specify Jeff Bezos…the richest fucking person in the world. We got an Aggressive Progressive!
