I can’t wait to see fall of House of Saud/Wahab by Hashemites or Iran. either way…Current Divided Arabian govt is hollow and did MANY things to harm Islam then be Protector of Islam.
I was a democratic party canvasser in the Richmond area this year, and tbh I would argue (as a progressive, not a democrat) that the lieutenant governor and attorney general races were our more exciting wins, alongside all those statehouse seats we managed to pick up. Especially the lieutenant governor. Thank god Northam won, obviously, but he’s just another weak sauce corporate guy, shoving cash from Dominion Energy into his pockets with just as much enthusiasm as most republicans. Justin Fairfax, though, had a strong progressive platform, and to my knowledge didn’t take a dime from Dominion—which everyone in VA politics knows is like the #1 power broker in the state, on both sides of the aisle. You could probably count the number of winning campaigns in the last 20 years (excepting this year!) that didn’t accept Dominion money on your hands.
Hire Jennifer Briney, the best guest host since Johnnie Pie.
More of these two, please! Really enjoyed this hour.
I freaking love Jennifer Briney.
If anyone cares I think Jennifer was awesome.
The US spends nothing from its own money, just like the first gulf war when the US actually made a profit, literally, from that war.
As for the support, it is part of the bargain, AQAP, the most active and dangerous AQ branch in the world, used to control 15% of Yemen during Saleh and held several large ports. Now they are in the Yemeni wilderness hunted down by Saudi based US drones after the Saudi coalition liberated the areas they controlled (which were mysteriously left intact by the Houthi/Saleh coalition despite being on the way to Aden back in 2015).
He who pays the piper…
Great first hour, as always, John. Can we have more Jennifer Briney, please. I will check out Congressional Dish today.
Also, Cenk had a debate/panel thing at #WebSummit yesterday, according to his twitter. That’s why he was gone.
John Iadarola is TYT’s number one talent. Put him on the main show every day.
I think Jennifer did a great job. I was just thinking it would be nice to have her on more. I would like to see her with Cenk. It would be a good contrast audio wise. He is deep and boisterous and she light and calm.
I thought Jennifer did great too. Mad props on your TYT intro.
That Johnny Pie guy is ok too. ;) (Keep up the good work)
I thought Jennifer did a good job here. Haven’t seen her before.
home girl watches hours of Congressional hearings, markups, and floor sessions. Even for TYT, that’s hugely a nerdy thing, and not all that common.
She’s fine.
What a freaking intellectually stimulating duo! Really enjoyed the political commentary; will check out Congressional Dish for all the good stuff I miss on CSPAN
Like oh my gawd daddy paid for my like my whole education so I can speak in this whiny valley-girl accent & pitch for the like the whole 1st hour of TYT like oh my gawd and yes I do talk through my nose with with like every syllable you know? UGH. Sorry Jennifer Grimey or whatever you name is I want ANA. I CANT and WONT listen to that annoying voice on TYT let alone in a radio/podcast. There’s been so much news in the last 3 days that it NEEDS the damn regular TYT team (no offense John!). Added to yesterday with no one on either, and the fact that 24+ full hours after the show aired it still wasn’t up posted for the members they supposedly care about still, no apology or word from anyone at TYT even acknowledging that. Plus TYT is still conveniently not updating the Lying Whore Donna Brazille story because they hate Hillary that much. I’m really starting to doubt whether I want to give more money to TYT when I could just go listen to Democracy Now for free…. And I’m sorry but Jennifer one of your eyes is the size of a PEPPERCORN and it’s FREAKING ME OUT!
And John, there are sanctuary cities, and in fact TYT proudly reported last week that the whole State of California is an official, voted on, Sanctuary-State! Also John I love you but you seem to have NO ability to run the stories with a time-clock. 35 minutes practically on Tax CUT CUT CUTS. Yes, we know it’s bad already! Please stop spending half of each show telling us how bad it is! And then 40 minutes later we’re still talking about Maine. Maine has like 500,000 people total in the whole f’ing state, and newsflash TYT, you have all of 3 members who live in Maine!!!!
Sorry guys, I love you all, and much love to sexy John Iadarola too, seriously. Is the fact I only got 4 hours of sleep last night showing? Please just acknowledge my rant and move on guys, this is me playing my Hillary Clinton “Woman Card” thing.
And wow, so glad Donald Trump just sold $5.6 billion of weapons (Made-in-‘Murica!) to Saudi Arabia right before they declare war on Iran…. Saudi Arabia: Who knew having 16 wives and 98 princes could be so complicated?
Thank you for your financial support.
1) John is regular TYT team and one of the strongest commentators, soooooo…..
2) do you seriously just hate watch?
3) thanks for your support.
Personally I love the discussions on taxes, because it’s very important, and few people (including myself) fully understand them.
I’m a Progressive Democrat that lives in Portland Oregon and we vote by mail in ballots , but I didn’t get My ballot this time .
I didn’t know that I was supposed to be voting today , I don’t watch TV , although I doubt that My local news has said much about voting time .
Hey! Portland Oregon. We live in Bend Oregon, YUGE TYT fans. Didn’t get a ballot either, will be double checking this, didn’t realize we too had a vote ???
Working hard on Healthcare For All Bill that’s coming up next year and then onto our 2020 election. Keep your eyes open and let’s get this thing passed to show the country whats up.
Hey also TYT, I pulled up (home) one evening glanced over at my neighbors, Bend doesn’t believe in curtains, and saw CENK on his big screen! Made me smile, would’ve never suspected they watched, but happy to know I’m in the right community ?
Keep doing what you do, despite trolls like dartheart ? your gross chick
To me, the female host constantly plugging being a “nerd” or a “dork” about politics because she’s informed is pretty weird and self-aggrandizing. Chances are if you watch this show you’re informed and keep up with mid-terms, etc. Don’t think following politics makes you this quirky nerd archetype. I think it makes you informed and nothing else.
Okay — let me breakdown the Saudi situation for you (*simplified):
There has been an internal rift within the house of Saud for years now, and basically it comes down to more traditionalist and more modernist groups. The more traditionalist group also mostly support ISIS, and has been upset that the current King is leaning more modernist. However, the current King hasn’t been making the moves to modernism, but rather, his son the prince has. This prince is the one who pushes for more liberal and modern SA. He is very well educated, in both SA and western institutions. He’s the one who is behind lifting the driving ban on women. He is the one who who is divesting from oil, and cracking down on financial corruption within the kingdom. He is not a religious fundie, and has been loosening away the grip of power from their religious institutions. Now that IS has collapsed, the crown prince is purging his house of vipers — those who would challenge the power of the monarchy by replacing it with a theocracy — exchanging princes for clerics so to say…. But that is only part of the story. The other part is that this prince HATES Iran, and I am unclear what his specific motivations are. It seems like he has had an irrational hatred for Iran for a very long time. This recent missile strike out of Yemen, was supposedly orchestrated and supplied by Iran (proxy war). So this purge to consolidate his power is a two-fold strike — purge his house of ISIS-supporting religious fundamentalists vipers so he can focus more of his attention on Yemen and Iran.
.
I am not saying that SA is turning into a liberal paradise, but I am saying that this move by the prince is likely a move in the right direction. I’m actually surprised that he survived long enough to do this, as I knew about the vipers in his house over 6 years ago when ISIS was gaining strength. He probably only survived because the King is still alive, and if he had died prematurely, then the vipers would have taken out the prince to consolidate their power. I’m no friend of SA, but I do think that this purge is probably a good thing.
.
**One last thing of note: it is frustrating to me how people are calling this a “coup” or a “power grab”, as if this is inappropriate or wrong. First of all, this is not a coup — SA is a kingdom, not a democracy. This crown prince is the next in line for succession, so he is the rightful heir. So, not only is this the appropriate response when working within a monarchy, the rightful prince is doing this to prevent SA from becoming a full-blown theocracy. I for one will argue that while democracy is better than a monarchy, having a bloodthirsty theocracy would be far worse than a somewhat *progressive-leaning monarchy.
.
**progressive as in making progress — I am fully aware that SA is far from good enough, but the phrase “progressive” denotes a direction, not a goal post — and I’ll argue that moving away from an ISIS-style theocracy is the correct direction)
Sorry but I never laughed so hard at such an absurd analysis in a very long time.
Keep it coming.
Thank you for your well-thought and reasoned response. You must be really smart & an expert at foreign policy. I love how you used no facts or logic whatsoever to counter my points. It really shows how you must know what you’re talking about. That is also the best way to convince others of your intellectual superiority. Perhaps you should notify the boys down at STRATCOM how much more you know about Saudi Arabia than they do, because this is a summary of their analysis, not mine.
Well I was just stating facts, I know more about Saudi Arabia than you will ever do unless you lived there or you are from there.
The lavish style of living the princes live is not just outside the country, it is inside as well and out in the open. Drug fueled sex orgies are held in Mecca and Medina (including a gay wedding, an actual wedding, between two gay men) under the direct protection of the very prices arrested earlier in the week. Those very prices arrested brag about buying 200 year old alcohol and no one can stop them and everyone in the country knows that.
Religious supremacy over the royal family is a foreign concept, it never existed. The number of arrested clerics over the years who were arrested just for preaching to people on how praying is good is in the thousands. The period where the country really went religious was between 1980 and 1994, before and after things loosened up (in perspective of course).
This was a political move nothing more nothing less, a “game of thrones” style move with none of the blood or nudity. The kid wants to create the “4th Saudi State” or “4th Saudi Kingdom” and he has been clear about his goals from the very beginning. It has nothing to do with liberalization, nothing to do with economic reform and certainly nothing to do with the fictional Saudi theocracy which never existed in the first place.
I guess Jennifer lives in a much different area than me. (ok that’s a given, I live in Florida.). But I *do* see people screaming at each other. Treating each other terribly based on assumed (correct or not) politics leanings / personality types. I have heard people “on both sides” discussing arming up for “defense” and occasionally – blatantly for offense (and been warned to stay indoors when the shit hits the fan because bullets will be flying- by people ideologically on both sides!) My point is that it’s lovely that people still behave with civility where you live but in some parts of the country – it’s degrading much more quickly.
I’m Floridian, and I’ve seen that too.
Jennifer Briney again…Awesome. Her podcast is Awesome. John is Awesome. TYT is Awesome. Quit bitchin’.
No Cenk=no watch. Where the hell is he?? On holidays again ????????
Holidays? Are you thick? He works very hard and is constantly busy. Running TYT, Wolf-Pac, now Justice Democrats ect. Plus the man has a wife and two young children… what more do you want? The fillings out of his teeth?
Working on Alison Hartson’s campaign? He said he was going to be involved, and if she’s gonna beat Feinstein, she needs to jump early!
DAH NAAAH NAH DUNNA NUH!
Jennifer is great.
Nothing against the current hosts, but please consider more guests.
In regards to the tax reform issue, I have to say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the critical coverage given by the mainstream news media outlets. I would’ve assumed that they would have not covered it in any negative way, since it will be favorable to them as corporations and wealthy individuals. But most of these media outlets deserve credit as credit is due.
While its an established trope John’s comment about saving a starving Billionaire would make a nice Jimmy Dore skit.
I’ll have ago…something like this.
The starving billionaire appeal.
All over America billionaires are sad. For just $1000 dollars a year you can put a smile on their face and help a starving billionaire save 100s of millions of dollars in tax. This has the added benefit of creating jobs….for yacht builders and bankers in the Kayman islands and Panama. Put a smile on a billionaires face today and you too can help them cut unnecessary jobs. But don’t worry, about this effecting the deficit. Your freeloading, greedy children will have to pay that.
Money and similar ideology…but, our relationship with Saudi Arabia precedes Trump, he’s just not as savvy masquerading it. But Trump’s guns etc. deals with Saudi Arabia are only extreme when NOT compared to HRC as Secretary of State/Obama administration…They opened the door to this. We need to CLOSE it! We can’t do that by ignoring ALL the factions that allowed this ridiculous relationship with Saudi Arabia.
I think we’ve given up on certain 1-horse battles: anti-war, pro-choice, voter suppression, etc. either because they’ve beaten the will out of us (anti-war) or we’ve taken it for granted too long (pro-choice). Perhaps this is why following the money is a more closely watched aspect than the war angle with Saudi Arabia-Iran, etc…we seem to be (i hope) realizing money is the corruption at the root of all corruption and economic oppression leads to every other type of oppression. This is, rather than a 1-horse issue, the MAIN issue at the heart of every other issue. That’s what Bernie got and we all responded. That hasn’t gone away-it instead seems to be a growing sentiment by the people about the establishment, period.
I also think the polling on Trump’s numbers are skewed- by both parties because if liberals or Dems fear Trump is a threat for 2020, it’ll keep them too afraid to vote against a party or not vote for fear of repeating Trump. Doubling down on this failed tactic only works if he continues to look like a viable threat. I know of not one Republican who is happy with Trump, nor ANY Berner’s. So, who are these people??? .
it’s also what keeps moderate Dems running for moderate Repub votes instead of progressive Dems/independent votes, etc. The number of people showing up is a far bigger indicator of whether a non-establishment/progressive candidate was even an option.
Besides, as long as the electoral college is in effect, we really should focus on polling in THOSE swing states Dems won in 2008 &2012 but lost in 2016 against the most egregious candidate everDemocrats like to take credit for progressive victories when their establishment candidates win and blame progressive when their est. candidates lose. In neither scenario are ANY progressive candidates actually involved. When they are, the majority of the time, they win, and usually no thanks to the Dem party who will spend millions on moderate Repubs running as Dems and derail progressives during primaries- it happens in nearly every primary, not just the presidential primaries, the same establishment structures that were in place for the 2016 primaries are still there in 2017 primaries and elections, with some exceptions (more so a year ago than likely in 2018, if DNC leadership changes is any indication of state leadership shifts next year, and on).
Trying to stay involved locally but experiencing quite a bit of that here where I live, which is frustrating. Still, progressives need to win, period, so in/out of a party-whatever gets you elected. I think it would be interesting if Progressives start running as Repubs-would that be any less effective than running as a Democrat? Not really sure…especially if they didn’t change their stance on ANY progressive issue. Payback, maybe, for the Joe Manchins of the world- but go, Justice Democrat whose gaining ground against him!!
OK, rambling.GN.
I went to vote bright and early, but there was nothing for me to vote on in my district. I wasn’t about to leave empty handed, so I took an “I Voted” sticker, and a piece of candy from the bowl.
Wrong again pip.
no cenk = no watch
I love Cenk, but John and Jenn are worth the watch too! Every member of TYT is amazing
I find this combination of hosts boring, but to each his own!
Thank you for registering your opinion without being an ass about it. That is so unusual I felt compelled to remark on it.*
*I’m speaking generally there, not about you specifically.
At least it’s not Ana!
Ana is always eloquent and fantastic.
They were fine.
BOOOOOORING
gillespie will win. weak democrats are paid to lose! :(
Northam won, yo. (as you probably know by now)
They won’t admit it.
