Comments

  1. Actually Cenk, I think Mercer just gave a figurative middle finger to Breitbart. If that lot of disgusting white supremacists wants to stay afloat, now they have to beg for money from a couple of women. That’s going to be a slap in the face to those snowflake “alpha males”.

Also, with him stepping down, I wonder if Robert Mercer just discovered he’s seriously ill.

  2. Intersectionality? Ooof. Pass. Can’t you find anybody in California to run as a progressive who is literate?

  3. I thoroughly agree with you. Today I can discern no real difference between the two parties. Most countries have more than two parties and they all keep each other in check. I think people today are so disgusted with our government that it just might work. We need a People’s Party that represents us.

You really hit the nail on the head. We didn’t vote FOR Trump. We instead voted AGAINST Hillary. And many of us voted for Jill in hopes of denying either candidate the 270 electoral votes they needed and see what happens.

When I look at Congress, all I see are seats filled with fat white old men. I doubt half even know about the impact social media has on news and I doubt whether any have even the slightest computer literacy.

We will never have a government that represents us until we get money out of politics.
To help elect more progressive candidates who represent your views, please support them at:
    https://justicedemocrats.com/

And to remove corporate money from elections, let’s join others to support this fine organization’s efforts to overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision:
    http://www.wolf-pac.com/

But most of all, we must get off our lazy butts, research our candidates views and then VOTE!

  4. Cenk, if I had a nickel for every time you shouted that “Hillary is irrelevant” I would be a rich man. Now you just spent a whole segment talking about how Hillary Clinton runs the DNC.

Please STOP SAYING HILLARY IS IRRELEVANT. The Clintonistas are out there, and they are running the show. They are the ones that continue to attack Bernie and progressives. They are the ones backing Perez and driving the DNC staffing and membership decisions that have recently made so much scandalous news. Don’t think for a moment that they are not.

Hillary is fair game and must be confronted and vigorously opposed if we are to ever wrest our democracy back from the oligarchs.

  5. ** not for war, but I wish the draft was here because maybe this country would be united on one thing, no more wars…
The draft would put ppl in question, why are we fighting?

It’d make ppl be more active in policies, I think, and possibly more attentive to what the government is getting us into.

But we don’t have a draft, so the least you can do is be active in selfless civil duties… that was my point about not serving the military, then serve your community…one way or another, get your head out from the sand and get to know city counsels, state reps and so on.***

  6. Im So Pissed that I sent my hard earned money, an continued to do so until this past week, to DNC and “their” Candidates … Like most Im just an Average American making a nurses salary and I try my best to contribute what I can, and to find out the DNC did this Im livid and feel hopeless .. How do we know which candidates to support (other than those from Young Democrats) .. Do you send money directly to Candidates ? And how do you ensure thats whats happening

  7. I think your heart is in the right place Cenk but JDs will not be able to win enough seats to turn the party. PLEASE act now to help draft Bernie, Tulsi, Nina, Keith Ellison and the JDs to just leave the party. Those who went with Trump over Clinton because of the stolen Bernie platform pieces Trump adopted will swing back to Bernie or the candidates he endorses, especially if he leaves the party. Those who voted Hillary because they feared Trump after this shameful railroading of Bernie, will gladly back Bernie against the corporate Dems. If all of the progressives remain with the party they are complicit. The Labor Unions are leaving the parties and talking about starting a new party. It’s now or never! Jump!

    1. Dude.. the main goal is to have representatives that represent the people. It honestly doesn’t matter if they have a republican label, a democratic label, or a third party label. People of good faith running for office is the ‘only’ thing that can help.

Just going third party isn’t going to help.. because for DECADES there have been third parties… and you may not even know a third of them.

Next year, there is going to be another election.. instead of starting a new party among the other dozen and fight everyone at once.. why not win against the people who are likely to win for not being republicans.. then beating the republicans?

      1. Because they will waste money and time on a primary they can’t win when they could use the same money to run against the established parties. Your logic doesn’t hold up and it is what perpetuates the two-party corporate stronghold on our elections.

        1. How do you know they won’t win, you can see the future? I’m over these one track minds. You must be in your 50s bc that generation can’t seem to remember grass roots and how shit doesn’t happen over night, it’s work, every damn day.
You must support those that are willing to dedicate their livelihood to support the people, bc it sounds like you of little faith have no intentions of dedicating your life to serving the people. BERNIE cannot fix this system alone, he needs an army and that’s gotta be the progressive party, the Justice Dems…who are evolving and merging with ideals of this country. Step aside if you can’t see these candidates winning. You belong with mainstream; there’s no telling where this election can go if we do the foot work, it’s our civil duty as Americans. And what pisses me off is removing the draft and having citizens grow up entitled, not voting, not participating in real change, but yet complain and put down those who work twice as hard to get things passed, for you to sit there and say shit like, they won’t win… with that kind of attitude, Blacks & minorities wouldn’t be able to vote, women would still be homemakers..etc. Keep the faith that we the people deserve to have healthcare for all, education, livable wages, alternative energy, clean water..and much more if we’re considered the American Dream, then we better damn well get our country back! It’s just us, so you can be the change you wish to see, or sit there and criticize and get nothing accomplished.

          1. I’ll tell you why I say they will not win. Did Bernie win? No, he didn’t. Why not? Because he played against the corporate Dems on their own playing field and they had him from the start. They own the process. Even if you get the momentum for a few important candidates, the machine will dominate. The only way to make the machine obsolete is to stop using it. Am I in my 50’s? Yes! Do I remember how grass roots cooperation accomplishes change, hell yes! I wrote letters to my congressional leaders and helped to end Apartheid in my own small way as a radio announcer at my college. Did I make a difference, I like to think so. Do I create art to change the world every day of my life, yes I do. I could spend hours telling you what I do and how I am involved in initiating change, but I won’t. One thing I have become extraordinarily good at in my years of creating art, with observation at the root of inspiration, is evaluating humanity. I expressed my opinion based on observation. You are hitching the civil rights movement to the current situation when there is no reason to equate the two. The Democratic Party did not get “corporatized” until Bill Clinton. If you are going to attempt to berate me as though I know nothing, please try to do it with a bit more panache, instead of spilling out blind “American Dream” sentimentality. Everyone uses that expression but it means something different to each individual.

Try to see that I am on your side. I want real change. I just think that it is incorrect to assume that you can change the party when its leaders have removed your forum.

            1. To another of your comments I said you were wrong. I wanted to post to this comment and say that it truly sounds like you are an ally and generally fighting for progressive causes. Keep reminding us that grassroots can work. And GL with your art.

      2. “people who are likely to win for not being republicans.” – You have just summed up the entirety of the current Democratic Party platform. It didn’t work in 2016 and it will work even less in future elections.

Yes, there have been 3rd parties for decades, but the level of complete and utter corruption that now exists in both mainstream parties has never existed before. Likewise, the tools to organise and communicate outside of the mainstream media has never existed before. The fact that you are here on this comments section proves this.

And – not to put too fine a point on it – we have never had a President Trump before.

In short, everything is different now, and a third party is a more viable proposition than ever before. Indeed, given the level of rampant corruption, criminal activity, and most importantly voter awareness off such, a third party may be the only logical solution available to us.

  8. Reading the comments are almost as interesting as the content, which is why I confess my guilty pleasure: THE DRUDGE REPORT. It is like an open window to a group of folks I wouldn’t wanna hang with. The geriatric Ms Feinstein may indeed drop out (before the primary) but, FOR CERTAIN the Oligarchs will find a hipper, slicker, “vessel” to pore money and propaganda into to defeating Ms Hartson. That’s why the whole divide and conquer senario works. Now is the time to seek out the truth tellers and show support (which is why I couldn’t contribute fast enough…I was one of the first 808 on live show)…anyway, sorry for the long rant, but to ALL the folks out there (who watched the PARADE OF PROUD PROGRESSIVES) and think their opponents have NOTHING to fear, well, clearly we weren’t watching the same show!

  9. Does anyone know where they uploaded the 3 hour special with JD candidates Cenk mentioned at the beginning? I’ve searched all over the site. Maybe they’re just taking time? Am I missing something?

    1. Yeah, I’d like to know that, too! The first 1 1/2 hours is the Agressive Progressive Show, but I have no idea where the rest is.

Sometimes they post this stuff under ‘Special Events’ (on the Member Content menu), but it is not there as of Saturday morning!

For such a large and growing group that strives to continue to increase membership, you’d think TYT would do a better job of informing their paying members. Come on folks, if some of this is posted on Facebook or Twitter, not all of us have accounts and some of us would rather see it posted HERE!

  10. I agree with jamesond. I do understand why cenk is downplaying it because obviously the reason it is in news is to tarnish mueller. But I agree he should not be dismissing it as it goes to the very heart of cenk’s main goal in politics, to stop influence peddling corruption that allows players to literally hijack our democracy.

  11. Ok, every time Cenk brings up Breitbart.com making no money – I don’t understand this.

According to Similarweb, Breitbart gets 76M hits a month (over 2 page views on average), 82% from the United States. It monetizes with Google ADX and Taboola. (7 Google Ads and 2 Taboola widgets).

All the traffic is organic, not paid.

So, back of the envelope math – 152M page views X 7 Google Ads = 1,064,000,000 ad impressions. Even at $1 CPM that’s just over $1 Million dollars a month in gross revenue.

Plus Taboola which is about $2 for every thousand page views, so that’s another $300k.

They might have more ads that I don’t see, but from what I can obviously see, from what is public – Breitbart is taking in $1.3M a month.

Cenk please explain why you think they don’t make any money, I’m a huge TYT fan and I even showed up to help you launch Wolf Pac in NY back in 2011.

But I really don’t understand this.

    Best,

    Nik

  12. People I know are having a problem with Justice Democrats because they are so against Democrats and are having a problem separating the two. Several people I know have said “but they are still democrats.” I wish you could get away from the democratic name it brings too much baggage. Yes, I understand a third party would have a hard time because they can’t primary democrats but it is a concern for some.

  13. (completely irrelevant I’m Hungarian but : D ) love her! great team! want to see public appearances, campaign stuff, show us how it goes please! she’ll win for sure! good luck! ;)

  14. So, Papa Mercer is “embarrassed” by his association with Breitbart and Nazis?

But he’s NOT embarrassed that his DAUGHTERS will be associated with Nazis?

I would have to say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  15. Cenk/Ana/TYT,

For clarity, can someone PLEASE confirm if that “agreement” that gave HRC control was the fundraising agreement or not (and just a different one than the one Bernie signed). As I have understood this report, it is a different agreement all together, but I need clarification of this with proof. Can you PLEASE confirm this and cite evidence so that I can use when having discussions with others.

  16. So, WHY did Obama neglect the DNC?

Is it possible that he just didn’t really give a shit about anyone or anything other than his own campaigns, and his OWN bank account? He didn’t care if Hillary’s campaign took over everything. He didn’t care if he helped anyone or anything other than his supposed “legacy.”

How ironic that the thing Obama cares about most, His Legacy, will NOT be healthcare.
His legacy will be Trump and the destruction of the DNC.
Well, he always said he wanted to be like Reagan. I don’t think Reagan could have done better.

  17. I have often linked the DNC with Corporate or Clintoncrats.
Now it is Official. Establishment defenders and Neolibs can no longer claim otherwise.

    The DNC=Clintoncrats.
They are one in the same and there is NO party for Democratic voters who want progressives.
The only sliver of a trail that exists is the Justice Democrats.

But … didn’t some of the labor Unions yday say they would breaking with “the lesser of 2 evils?”
    Possibly forming a Labor Party?
What if THEY decide to join with Justice Dems?

    Now THAT would be interesting.

    1. The reason why the JD is such a good idea is that they can still influence the people directly while under the democrat umbrella, but cannot if they run as third party. Imagine if the tea party had tried to run vs the GOP; both sides would have lost to Dems easily as they’d split the vote between the two parties of radical rightwing and somewhat less radical but still greedy rightwing.

      1. Yes, a relatively small group of folks qualify themselves as tea party, and they took over the Republican party. The J.D’s will do the same: the surprise to ALL will be their success.
Also, I just want to say, listening to Paula Jean, I wept: Grateful to know where to send my $upport:)

      2. ImperatorV, I hope your right about JDs taking over the Dems.
Right now, I don’t see that the Clintoncrats will ALLOW it to happen.
They purged 200,000 from Brooklyn voter list. It was found to be illegal, and then nothing happened.
But now it’s too late . I would bet that Brooklyn wasn’t the only place this happened.

        I hope your right!
I just don’t have much faith in the DNC. They will figure out a way to stop the JD threat. They may even get establishment Republicans to side with them. They don’t want the professional Loser Dems to leave either!

  18. Jordan, Emma and now Cenk is congratulating Donna Brazile for stating the truth. Tweeted to #tytlive that I thought determining her motivation was important. Cenk replied to similar tweet that he didn’t care about her motivation, but I still think it will turn out to be important, if only because it will be fodder for the DNC to discredit her message. Also, Why is one of the five Ws.

  19. On corporate tax cuts, I have to disagree on several points:

    1. The share of corporate taxes from revenue went down because of the expansion of the income taxes and the payroll taxes. In 1955 most payroll taxes currently paid simply did not exist and the rates themselves were low.

    2. Corporate taxes as a % of GDP was always low. The share from GDP decreased from 3.8 to 2.2 between 65 and 2015 but it has more to do with a general reduction in economic growth (5% in 65 vs. 2.2% in 2015) than tax policies. In 2007 the US collected 3.1% of GDP in corporate taxes and there has been barely any change to the tax code since.

    3. US corporate taxes are higher than some OECD countries. France and Germany have a lower effective and nominal rate than the US. Japan and the UK have a higher rate for other structural reasons.

A better tax policy towards corporations should scale it to GDP rather than focusing on rates which are meaningless.

  20. It took me 5 minutes to realize how bad a candidate Ms. Hartson is. She is clueless about the world and clueless about what is the difference between what people want and what people vote for.

Feinstein is a shoe-in only because of the disastrous tax plan which will punish California, New York and Texas.

    1. So, an honest quality person, who spent the last few years working: to take money out of politics, a person who is clearly articulate, with a teaching background: wants to go to Washington to FAIRLY represent the people of California. But, you feel the: never-met-a-bribe-she-couldn’t take FEINSTEIN will be a shoe-in? If, that is what happens then you losers will get the senator you deserve.

      1. In order to win you have to have a good candidate to begin with. She is a horrible candidate. Light Years ahead of Feinstein but on planet earth where people vote based she is still a horrible one.

    2. You don’t know anything about Alison. I happen to be a state organizer for Wolf-PAC in WA state, and I’ve worked with Alison numerous times over the years. I’ve never met a more fierce, tenacious fighter for progressive causes.

Sure, this interview was a little scripted, but that’s just because Cenk is trying to introduce her to the national stage, as he knew this story, as it did, would receive national coverage (“A PROGRESSIVE challenging a LONG-TIME DEMOCRATIC INCUMBENT? WELL I NEVER! OOOOH, THE HUMANITY!”)

But when you see her just being herself, off script, working on say, the issue of money in politics (our only focus at Wolf-PAC)? I’ve seen her run circles around 6-term incumbent state legislators, meeting with upwards of twenty in one day!

Trust me. She is NOT someone Feinstein would want to be forced to reckon with, nor someone ANYONE would want to face in an election. I imagine what she’s going to do is prioritize direct contact with voters via actually hitting the streets and knocking on doors.

Feinstein’s money and friendships with the upper political class won’t help her in that regard, since she’ll likely just pour tens if not HUNDREDS of millions of dollars into TV commercials that are devoid of substance and that either spout platitudinous bullshit about her, or scaremongering bullshit about Alison.

      1. In a fair world people would vote on issues. Unfortunately we are not in a fair world. People will vote for eloquence, polishness (from polished) and personality. She lacks all three and she lacks experience.

What you need against Feinstein is a politician not an activist. Bernie made his bones in the gutters of local politics before going national and so did Feinstein (she became a senator thanks to her telling the world about the Milk assassination). This woman is an amateur and will lose unless she does a makeover and talk about what people want to vote on not what people wish for and based on her activism it would be extremely hard.

        1. Lol, how could anyone possibly claim that you need eloquence, polish, and experience to win votes when a man like donald trump sits in the white house?

Also I think you are underestimating how progressive CA is.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you? Over 50 yeah?

          1. That is your first mistake, comparing Alabama with California.

There is a world of difference between the voters in both state and the primary voter in CA is much more urban and sophisticated

          2. Nah. The times have changed. Only time will tell, and perhaps in a different race, you’d be right- but Feinstein has already made every progressive in the state her enemy by repeatedly refusing to fight for core progressive policies like medicare for all and paid-for tuition at colleges and universities.

We will see. I highly doubt you will be right in the end.

  21. I had the pleasure of making calls to different states for Wolf-PAC with Alison and met her at a Wolf-PAC meet-up in San Francisco a couple years ago, and she glows with knowledge and pleasant determination. I support her just like Bernie because of the issues and realize that she needs financial support to win and will support her campaign until she wins. I wouldn’t want to be any establishment Democrat after listening to Donna Brazile sing today.

  22. Can somebody help this brother find the other three hours in the website I wasn’t able to catch it live and now I can’t find it

  23. Hearing what you suspected all along is still very disappointing. Closure bring conviction that The DNC will not choose the next Democrat. #ProgressiveSpring #Bernie2020.

  24. Cenk just said anyone who falls for that Clinton Uranium 1 story is an idiot. Oops! That includes the moron Jimmy Dore. So, he’s finally admitting Dore’s an idiot?

    1. When did Cenk ever say your idiot? One can disagree on any subject. I disagree with Cenk but that’s my opinion on the Uranium deal only to the money that went to Clinton’s foundation and B
      ill pocket.

    2. No, Cenk merely pointed out that MUELLER isn’t tied to Uranium one, and therefore it doesn’t invalidate his investigation into Trump.

Uranium one itself IS a VERY real issue.. I don’t know what the fuck Cenk is doing, but his segment on it was a GROSS FAILURE of journalism. He took a real issue and tried to completely write it off JUST BECAUSE it’s being used by Trump’s administration to try to smear the person investigating him. Cenk is once again letting his distaste for Trump get in the way of, y’know, FACTS, and REALITY.

Hillary’s selling of 20% of US uranium deposits in exchange for PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO HERSELF and HER FOUNDATION, WHILE SHE WAS SECRETARY OF STATE (IE using her position to further her OWN personal wealth and power, something that is unconstitutional and ILLEGAL), IS STILL RELEVANT TODAY, regardless of whether she became president or not!

If I tomorrow decided to go out and murder someone, I wouldn’t get away scott free just because I’m not the president! I mean, fuck! That’s how STUPID Cenk’s argument is!

NO CENK. SHE STILL BROKE THE LAW AND SOLD US POLITICAL INFLUENCE TO INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS IN ORDER TO FEATHER HER OWN NEST.

THAT IS EXTREMELY RELEVANT REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG AGO IT WAS .

      1. GUYS – when he said, “this story” he was clearly referring to the Mueller part, using the Uranium story to discredit Mueller’s credibility is a 100% fraudulent story. That’s it! He never said the Uranium story was BS. Not once.

        1. These are his EXACT quotes from the video: “So anyone talking about Uranium One going forward, you have to understand that that issue is completely illegitimate, it is a political trick…so … Totally illegitimate issue, completely, made up, as a political trick. End of question. Period. Anyone talking about Uranium One, is part of literally a Republican plot to protect the President……”

No. He just referred to it as “Uranium One”. Twice.

And that still doesn’t excuse him declaring Hillary Clinton’s role in it irrelevant, just because she isn’t president. Is that the precedent he wants to set? That we should lie down and take government corruption, especially HYPOCRITICAL, ILLEGAL (and Hillary’s actions WERE, which is probably why they won’t be investigated) corruption, as long as the perpetrators in question aren’t the POTUS?

That’s fuckin’ stupid, and you know it.

    3. I’m torn on Jimmy. He’s been correct on so many issues from the beginning but sometimes he’s like the Rush Limbaugh of the left. Don’t know what to make of him. On the Uranium 1 story, he’s most definitely wrong but ‘idiot’ is a bit strong.

      1. Why is Jimmy wrong? It happened, and those TWO grifters from Arkansas made MILLIONS! FUCK THE CLINTONS! Also, I wouldn’t put it past HRC to have ordered a hit on Seth…I know, I know, you think I am a conspiracy NUT and I think there are still IDIOTS in the world who think Lee Harvey Oswarld assassinated JFK!

      1. First, It’s Marvin the paranoid android from Douglas Adams’ classic novel and BBC radio series “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”.

Second, I never went anywhere. I see you comment the same dull, simplistic stuff all the time. I’m not gone, just because I don’t always take the time to point out how dull, simplistic and moronic it is.

        1. My bad… Paranoid Android.

I can’t be the only one who posts dull, simplistic stuff. There must be others you could “correct.”
Maybe you have homework, so it’s understandable.

But, in case you think I am the only one who posts dull, simplistic stuff …
Number One! Number One! Number One!

    1. Thank you, Emjaik.

I would hope that if I was suddenly, unexpectedly cursed with a ginormous inheritance that I would not succumb to the self-dealing, rarefied air of the millionaires, but, instead, remember how it felt to have nothing and to struggle and, hopefully, to help others in some constructive way.

Since this is not going to happen, I expect those that have power to wield it judiciously, and to refrain from doing things that most reasonable people refrain from, such as lying. The Trumps, Ryans and Clintons of the world do not live this way. All one has to do is listen and observe for a short period of time to realize they are either stupid or they think we are.

I am tired of the lying. I will do what I can to help JDs get elected.

  25. Hold on. How is legal pot inter-related to free college for all? No Allison every issue is not inter-related. Cenk your state is full of conservative voters. My suggestion is narrow your issues to student loan forgiveness and paid college tuition. Issues involving education will attract moderate and far-right conservative voters.

  26. First impression of Allison. She needs to be slightly more aggressive….then again she was sitting next to Cenk.

    1. I agree. She didn’t quite seem to have the presence I would expect from a winning candidate, or perhaps she was not taking this appearance seriously enough.
Also if a progressive wins the senate seat, the establishment would rush to dismiss it as, “Oh it’s California, the most Liberal state in the union. They’re so Liberal that they should form their own communist country with Berkeley as their capital. ” Of course they’d be full of it, afraid that their own jobs were at risk, and it would push incumbents to triangulate to the left.

  27. Cenk, towards the end of the “Donna Tells All” segment, you said: “These people did not care about progressive ideology or priorities. All they cared about was money and their own personal careers (38:42).” The result of which is the federal disaster we have now, and TYT members know exactly what that entails.

Immediately, upon hearing you continue by characterizing their behavior as shameful, I thought about Trump’s cabinet, leading agencies whose missions they oppose. I thought about trusting corporations to protect the environment instead of the government. I thought about electing millionaires and billionaires to office, trusting them to protect the powerless. I thought how your statement adds clarity to these shameful situations and explains so much.

I hope “getting money out of politics” cures this insanity, and the sooner, the better.

  28. just because the uranium one story is back in the news and the right is trying to use it discredit mueller, doesn’t mean we should look the other way on the potential quid pro quo involved with the clintons. we know the clintons are corrupt liars, it’s entirely plausible that the money that flowed to their foundation amidst that uranium one deal was to buy influence.

  29. I am a member of the TYT army’s foreign legion. I already know I can’t give money to any US candidate, but is there an open front for us to fight on within the rules of engagement in a US election. If so, what can the foreign legion do for Alison Hartson other Justice Dems and leftists?

    1. We should respect the electoral system of the US and not intervene . Supporting TYT and similar outlets is good enough.

      1. Electro College proves every vote doesn’t count when anytime the majority of Americans vote count is against the winner just saying.

      2. *HugoK. You just wrote a big joke. Our country no longer has a self-correcting electoral system because the billionaire cartels have successfully dumbed down the population with various distractions and entertainments. Most Americans vote against candidates rather than to vote for candidates. We are so easily fooled and tricked into believing that our candidates of choice will fight for our concerns. So we continue to re-elect these corporate prostitutes again and again, and then bitch and moan about the personal and societal losses and hardships that were caused by the men and women that we voted into office. We are not heading for the cliff, we have already fallen and almost ready to hit rock bottom. Wake up people, our current government is not the Mario Brothers video game!
