  1. I miss Cara Santa Maria. Cenk’s good at politics breakdowns and other things but… look… Michael Jordan could play basketball, golf and (sort of) baseball. But he would’ve gotten murdered on a football field. Save the science stories that require a deeper background for Friday’s and bring on Jayde Lovell or somethin’. At LEAST don’t do them unless John’s on.

  2. Sorry Cenk, maybe if George was in a prison jumpsuit giving that speech. I might be inclined to say okay, but he is still a war criminal …. screw him!

  3. Cenk is on Drugs or Republican Cenk jumped into the future Cenk’s mind and meshed his ideology with Present Cenk’s.!? like this boner for “Classical” Republicans is weirdly disturbing?!

    1:50-10:17
NATIVISM is NATIONALISM!!!!! thats sole basis of WHY EUROPE went to WAR AT OTHER EUROPEANS forming Nationalistic identities to comeback off neighboring regions influence!!! America was FOUNDED on GENOCIDE!!!! if that’s something to preserve sign me OUT!!! to this day OUR territory Laws, Native Treaties to Tribes and treatment to Hawwiian Natives r MORE WORSE THEN how we TREAT American Minorities….that speaks ALOT!!!!

anyway it Funny how Trump sees Dossier as more Important then his Job as President of United States, lol
when will Republicans realized they r doing Putin’s bidding.

  4. Jesus f-ing CHRIST, Cenk!! George W. Bush? WTF are you thinking??? The man is not only an idiot, he represents the very worst of modern Republicanism. Good God, man, we can surely agree that Trump is outrageous and dangerous, but what good does not do to heap praise on a Republican who is one of the greatest outlaws in history?

Cenk, if I wanted to see the rehabilitation of a right wing asshole and a bona fide WAR CRIMINAL I would watch Bill Maher or JoyAnn Reid.

So – who will you be showcasing next, Henry KISSINGER???

    1. Wow,
      You are going hard.
Cenk is trying to win the War. We have a lot of work 2-do.
I understand your perspective totally but this was a good thought by Bush, although he’s a complete idiot.
      #We Family

      1. Damned straight I am going hard. Because there has been an unbelievable wave of rehabilitation lately. JoyAnn Reis days she agrees more with David Frum & Max fucking BOOT than she does with “those on the far Left.”

Nancy Pelosi says she longs for the days when George Bush was President, and openly opines” wouldn’t it be nice if Mitt Romney were President?”

And Bill Maher just cannot stop having GOP Neocons on his show so he can thank them and give them tongue baths because they are simply not Trump.

GW Bush has the blood of a million innocent Iraqis on his hand, let alone countless thousands of innocent Afghanis. He can’t even risk leaving the fucking country lest he be arrested. And this is the asshole that we turn to to get criticism of Trump?

This is also a FAILED POLICY. Painting Trump as an anomaly, a strange and unique person who does not represent the “mainstream” GOP is what Hillary did, and it was a reason she lost. Instead of trying to carve Trump AWAY from the GOP, we should be doing everything we possibly can to portray Trump as a “true” Republican and hang him like an albatross around the neck of every GOP candidate we can.

Showing how Trump is somehow being at odds with “good” Republicans is the biggest mistake we can make.

TYT was the past place I ever expected to see doing this. Shame on Cenk.

    2. thank you, i am quite surprised it has come to this. i knew it would happen though cause now its all about anti trump and teams. shameful on TYT

  5. EVER SINCE I NOTICED THAT Y’ALL SAY “uh” ALL THE TIME MY ENJOYMENT OF TYT DIMINISHED A LITTLE BIT, SPEAKING COACHES COST LESS THAN 20 MILLION

    ALL THE CAPS

  6. Look the speech was good and good for McCain and Corker as well but they were part of what lead to Trump. Trump is the extreme version of what the Republican party has been building up to for YEARS and all these GOP people that are like “well I’m out” need to own up to their part as well. Trump would not have gotten this far if the party weren’t already as deplorable as it was. I am not just talking about in actual politics either but in behavior as well. It’s great that there is a movement because of Trump but that has to include acknowledgment of the entire party’s faults otherwise it will just happen again.

  7. This president continues to show how little he knows about service members. There are truck drivers in the military. They are mostly in a transportation brigade/battalion. That’s common knowledge, and somehow he doesn’t even know it. He’s such an embarrassment.

  8. Gah… Someone on TYT please read this. Atmospheric rivers stretching thousands of miles are completely normal. They happen all the time. Most of the moisture that falls on Southern California (maybe even the entire Western US) is due to atmospheric rivers. Having 5000 mile long atmospheric rivers is not abnormal.

It’s not like an atmospheric river is actually a river in the sky. That’s just a name for it because it contains a lot of water. You regularly bash science illiteracy on this show, but this segment on atmospheric rivers is brimming with scientific illiteracy.

Climate change is not causing atmospheric rivers. It may be making them larger and contain more water, sure. But do not blame climate change on the existence of atmospheric rivers. They are normal. And it would be great for Southern California if we get more atmospheric rivers.

    1. Did you even bother to watch the full story? Because if you did you need to rewatch it. In his thing Cenk specifically said “I am not saying climate change causes these things”…

And no it would NOT be great for southern California to get these. People assume that all moisture is the answer to droughts. Anyone that has lived on a farm will tell you that belief is wrong because if the moisture comes in too quickly it will do as much harm (if not more) as the dry season already did.

There has to be a balance and climate change will keep chipping away at that balance and we will keep living with the ill effects.

      1. Of course I watched it… Things Cenk said:

“We’ve been telling you a lot about strange weather events”
“And now we have what is being called an atmospheric river. What in the world does that mean?”
“It is a 5000 mile belt of storms. What have we done to the planet? Jesus, man.”
“It is so strong and so intense that it has formed a river in the sky. Oh my god, what have we done?”
“The scientists predicted we would have massive storms. Now, we have 5000 mile storms.”
        “Yes it’s climate change.”

And so on… He said that a SINGLE storm couldn’t be attributed to climate change. He mentioned we had “one” in 2009. No, they happen all the time:

        http://cw3e.ucsd.edu/how-many-atmospheric-rivers-have-hit-the-u-s-west-coast-during-the-remarkably-wet-water-year-2017/
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pineapple_Express

Look, I agree climate change is real. I work in atmospheric science with NASA. My point was that this segment gave the impression that because of climate change, NOW we have these crazy new things called atmospheric rivers. This is simply not correct. Atmospheric rivers are not a new thing. They are not a “strange” weather event. Sure, maybe climate change may make them more powerful, but climate change is not causing these events.

As for your comment “And no it would NOT be great for southern California to get these.” Southern California already gets these. Several big ones hit California early this year, and sure, they caused problems, but they also ended the years-long drought.

        1. I congratulate you for bringing real science to this issue. Too many people are going to say “That proves he’s (or she’s) a Climate Change Denier.” I really don’t like that every time there’s an extra hot day that some people will say “that proves it’s global warming.” No real scientist would claim that one extreme day or event “proves” the climate change idea. By constantly repeating these outlandish claims the whole thing becomes something promoted by cheerleaders rather than the people who study it seriously–.

          1. So I’ll go ahead and ask the stupid midwesterner question… Is it possible that these storms will put out the wildfires?

  9. Turns out studying the Soviet Union while in high school was great preparation for interpreting American politics in the 21st Century.

  10. Never, ever give to the DNC. Or the DCCC or the DSCC. These people give your money to corporate Democrats. Give your money to candidates. Look up the progressives in the primaries and give to them. That’s the way to fix the Democratic Party.

  11. It’s infuriating seeing George Bush pop up again, but I’m glad Cenk reported on his speech. This was a monumental smack-down of Trump and his backers.

“Our identity as a nation – unlike many other nations – is not determined by geography or ethnicity, by soil or blood. Being an American involves the embrace of high ideals and civic responsibility. … This means that people of every race, religion and ethnicity can be fully and equally American. It means that bigotry or white supremacy in any form is blasphemy against the American creed.”

The Republicans are slowly figuring out where their weakness is and addressing it. This is a fundamental change, and we need to be proactive in how we handle it. Progressives, especially, need to embrace this concept of what it means to be an American. We can cleave off a big part of the Republican base by doing that. And, beyond that, the best thing for the country is to pull together around defining “American” in terms of the values in the Constitution. It marginalizes racists and brings the country together.

So, while I’m extremely aware that Bush and his administration pursued despicable policies around torture and war, that cannot blind us to the opportunity to build a better world.

Cenk is correct to point to a concerted effort to get this message out. It’s no accident John McCain said, “We live in a land made of ideals, not blood and soil,” and GWB said, “Our identity as a nation – unlike many other nations – is not determined by geography or ethnicity, by soil or blood.” They are talking to the Nazis who were shouting “blood and soil”. The Republican establishment is trying to reassert control over their party.

If they fail, it will be bad for the country. If they succeed, it will present a real challenge to progressives. Either way, we need to understand this and be prepared to act on it.

    1. Bush is a bona fide war criminal who set the ME on fire and set the stage for Trump just as much as Obama did. He does NOT deserve a platform or a megaphone. I am deeply, deeply disappointed in TYT and Cenk for giving this asshole some airplay.

  12. Revolutions don’t happen overnight. If Progressives hang in there, within 4-10 years we will OWN the Democratic Party, lock stock and barrel.

There are huge inroads being made at every level. Our local Democratic Central Committee (DCC’s are the official party governing body at the county level) which s far from radical, nonetheless voted unanimously to endorse Bernie’s People’s Platform. 35-40 fairly conservative Democrats, most of whom backed Hillary, voted unanimously to endorse a radical anti-Establishment platform.

This single event is not, by itself, earth-shaking. But it REPRESENTS a broader, seismic shift among loyal Democratic Party voters. Bernie is the most popular politician in the country today, with 80% approval rating among DEMOCRATS.

It took many years before the Suffrage movement achieved victory with women’s votes. It took decades for the Civil Rights movement to culminate in The Civil Rights Act.

Hang in there, progressives. Don’t scatter and abandon the fight because success is not happening fast enough. WE WILL PREVAIL, because we have right (and history) on our side. Of course the Establishment will not give up without a fight. What did you expect? But… we will win.

  13. Seattle isn’t the wettest.
It doesn’t rain all the time.
That being said, this isn’t normal. Scary.

  14. I want to believe this entire comment is humorous.” Go Team Pelosi” and “Incremental change is best” were my favorites. Keep up the good work.

  15. I want to believe this entire comment is humorous.” Go Team Pelosi” and “Incremental change” is best were my favorites. Keep up the good work.

  16. For the love of God, Sanders, STOP using percentage mathematics to make your point, nobody understands what you’re talking about. Use DOLLAR AMOUNTS i.e. households making over 10 million. People understand DOLLAR AMOUNTS not one tenth of a fraction of 2/3rds or 2 percent over 1 10th of the bottom 10 percent!

    1. Excellent point, I had not thought of that. I was irked about him using percentages but didn’t have an alternative.

    2. I think that naming dollar amounts would not work as well. Saying “those people earning over $10 million a year” would mean nothing, because people have no idea how many people make that much.

  17. If these DNC exiles had a scintilla of spine, they’d unite and start to openly discuss a third party. But the left tends to have no spine, so it’s okay to abuse and exile them to the wilderness and feed them identity politics to divide and conquer. It’s time for TYT to actively advocate for a 3rd party or they’re part of the problem.

    1. At this point I’m convinced it’s worth a shot. Personally I think Social democracy (as opposed to democratic socialism) would have the widest appeal since it retains some parts of capitalism. Either way, though, I think it is time to try a third party, whatever it ends up being.

      1. Really good point! We need to pay attention to the words we use. I hope people make note of your comment. Ideas are important–maybe purists will be offended , but in the real world some attention to good marketing is going to be important to making a difference.

    2. GW Bush is a bona fide war criminal. We must not allow Trump to poison our national discourse to the point whwre we start giving credence to the most horrible Presidents in history. Let;s be clear: althoug he is boorish and blustering and maniacal and dangerous, Trump has quite a long way to go before he approaches the level of long term damage to the world that GW Bush did.

  18. Loved The Purge! Awesome job getting rid of the Bernie Bros in THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY (not The Bernie Party folks, sorry not sorry!)! And we can’t give you Bernie-Worshippers The Chair because if we do you’ll throw it at us! You cost Hillary the election and I’m ecstatic we got blood on our hands destroying as many of you traitors and DINOs as we could. You want a more “progressive party” then go form your own or join The Green Party, but you can’t take over ours, the Party of Clinton and The Party of Centrists. And yes, Bernie should change his affiliation from Independent to Democrat if he wants to run in DEMOCRATIC primaries. Incremental Change is best. Go Team Pelosi!!!
AND I know how to defeat Bernie Sanders for good! Tie his hands behind his back and he won’t be able to debate! Or throw a chair at you! =)
And as to the Uranium story, Cenk you very clearly don’t tell us whether or not this was “weapons grade” uranium, and also this was part of the “Russian Reset” attempt by Barrack Obama. They blew that 2nd chance which is why Putin didn’t want her elected President, because he knew he’d fucked over her and her husband TWICE and would go on the warpath against him for it. Now if you want a corruption story being ignored by the Bernie-controlled media, why don’t you give us an update on the escalating case against the wife of your beloved Bernie Sanders that you’ve been ignoring for months now?

  19. Right on DBDBDB above. Fuck Bush – I know Cenk isn’t forgetting he’s a god damn war criminal, but I can’t stomach thanking W for giving that speech. Cenk’s right to question the motivation and that should be the lead, not thanking this dumb ass. W doesn’t give a damn. Whatever’s really going on, it doesn’t do any good to help normalize BushCo. Ryan Grim and Alexander Zaitchik has it about right in Huffpo from back in March:

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/george-w-bush-trump-forget-history_us_58c6e69ee4b0598c66989c6e

  20. When I first heard of the DNC purge, I said to myself – “that’s it, DNC is officially hopeless. I wonder if Cenk will admit its Draft Bernie time.” Not yet. I hope for Justice Democrats’ success, but I fear the ones that win will just give the DNC more cover for their overall corporate agenda

  21. Cenk lives in fantasy land. When people hate they hate with passion and become worse than animals to fellow human beings. Just look at Burma where the “democracy” and “human rights” activists are more fascists towards the Rohingya than the Army.

  22. Cenk, those pineapple express storms happen on occasion and really aren’t so bad for thirsty areas such as the western United States. Because they are a river of warm moisture coming from warmer waters across the Pacific, there are scenarios where they can be harmful. Mountainous forested areas, which rely on having a good snow-pack each winter, can be melted by these warm rain events. So, if a pineapple express storm comes in December, it will cause all but the highest mountainous areas to reset their snow budget for the winter. This not only causes flooding during the storm, but can easily cause a quicker spring snow melt, causing an earlier soil evaporation and longer arid conditions in the summer forest fire season.

In my opinion it is better to have one of these early in October so that it interferes less with winter snow budgets, replenishes water supplies, and assists dampening wildfire areas. This includes Washington, Oregon, and California, which all got hit with wildfires.

  23. I have to believe Ellison BOWS HIS HEAD. He won’t do shit.
He will stay and play be the Progressive Lapdog.
They will pat him on the head & throw some campaign cash his way.
Is there any doubt now that the Democratic Party is cannot be saved?

Surprise, surprise, The Clintoncrats have fucked this party seven ways to Sunday.

  24. I also can’t beleive you tried to normalise Bush. And ignored his comments about much needed foreign occupation and invasion, as well as the dangers of any regulations on a free market, this speech will just cement trumps base that beleive he is fighting the system for the American people, how could miss that?

    1. Normalize Bush??? Cenk did nothing of the kind. Should Cenk say “Since he’s GW Bush ANYTHING he says is wrong– I wish he had said something really GOOD about Trump so we could all hate him even more?” Would that have been better?

    2. That was not normalizing Bush. It was giving him credit for sending the message within the Republican Party that racism and bigotry is un-American.

“This means that people of every race, religion and ethnicity can be fully and equally American. It means that bigotry or white supremacy in any form is blasphemy against the American creed.”

The message to racists (including Trump) within the party couldn’t be clearer: You are not Americans.

The fact this message was delivered by a guy who sold out our principles on torture and launching a war of aggression makes it all the more powerful.

  25. I call this tax reform “crumbs from the table”. We borrow and increase the national debt to give tiny crumbs to the poor and middle class while corporations and the wealthy feast on the their massive tax cuts. In the future the poor and middle class pay more taxes because of the bloated national debt.

  26. One of the first thing that T. May did in the UK after her latest election set back was firing the consultants in her staff. It seems that when it comes to US, common sense takes a back seat.

  27. https://youtu.be/KqXLfp2sFHQ
This in one ad I’ve had to watch many many times,
Also in regards to my previous statement, I would leave membership if it wasn’t for murder with friends and Jordan and tyt politics. But I can support him seperatly, please cover the Australia same sec marriage survey, and PLEASE. BRING BACK ALLSTARS.

  28. Aarrgggh, you cover trump trump trump trump, you cover a flyer in the USA against lgbt people but have no once covered what’s currently happening in Australia, where a postal survey has lead to flyers just as horrific put in millions of letterboxes claiming gay marriage will ruin free speech, and lead to kids being taught radical gay agendas in schools, we have also been subjected to 15 plus tb adverts a night claiming marriage equality will lead to kids being taught radical gay sex in schools, there have been many many many abuse incidents and soooo much hate toward lgbt people, they tried to ban Macklemore from playing at a sports Final opening pushing his song to number one on the charts, Soooo much stuff has been happening. If it wasent for grace and
Murder with friends id unsubscribe, I’m sooo sick of the trump content it’s covered by every news outlet here, BRING BACK ALL STARS. I want the storeys no ones talking about that’s why I signed up.

  29. You turned the story about Clinton corruption into an attack on Trump. I’m tired of the Trump attacks all show every show. That’s all TYT (minutes TYT politics) is now. I can go to CNN for all that. If you don’t change soon I’m going to end my membership.

    1. totally agree, the story is not about trump, its about hillary and obama. trump is awful, we get it, most of us didn’t vote for him. let’s hear the substance

    2. I agree there’s way too much on Trump here and in the rest of the media. We get it. He’s one level below pond scum. Now, on to the news!

  30. Sorry, I’m not hearing any moralizing speech from George W. Bush that doesn’t include a litany of apologies to the world.

  31. TYT releases alot of good info about how people can get involved live where they can get their questions answered in each time. I’m glad this happens so people can do so. I’m mad at myself and my company (just a little) that I can’t watch this live during the week to take part because…damn! I really would like to ask some things that I know would leave some people in “uh”. (rather than awh . Its a joke. Uhh rather than awh.)

  32. 5000 miles of a band of rain/storm, I am so scared. God with Trump foolishly pulling out of the Paris climate accords, that was he bare minimum…what the fuck are we gong to do?

  33. Cenk please talk about LLOG OIL SPILL in the Gulf of Mexico on 10/11/17 spill over 9,350 gallons i found out from Jimmy Door show .All talk about Trump

  34. That atmospheric river spans one fifth of the earth’s circumference.

The more extreme climate change models indicate that this ‘big dark’ will eventually encircle the equator. If it becomes a fixture like, say, the red spot on Jupiter, it could eventually make the passage between northern and southern hemispheres difficult, dangerous, or even impossible, except maybe for submarines and jet planes. Once the roads are impossible to maintain, even armored vehicles with treads might not be able to make the journey via land.

Unfortunately, the more moderate models are now known to have been too conservative in their predictions, since climate change has outrun their predictions.

  35. Again, you ignore the body count for your love of Trump. Do you realize trump had killed more than Obama….who killed more than bush….each president has gotten worse….death count wise

  36. i am, again, disgusted by tyt and how you people are trying to normalise war criminals. he killed way over a million people but now he joined your resistance(tm). but if you get clicks and sell some shirts its worth it i guess

    1. Seriously? How could you possibly see that as normalizing war crimes, he stopped multiple times to remind everyone that he does NOT support Bush. There’s nothing wrong with giving a republican credit where credit is due for a good speech when so few others are speaking out.

      Unbunch your panties

      1. there could be. Every time this war criminal is allowed to be a voice of reason, it does lessen his crimes. That’s how Henry Kissinger did it. The only way to threaten these guys with all this wealth and power is to make them pariah’s in public life no matter what they say. When you don’t. When you forget. When you say, “yeah, he’s a war criminal, but I like this speech” you normalize. George Bush turns into Sarah Palin turns into Donald Trump. In 8 years, you’re going to be looking back and saying, “I didn’t like president Trump, but unlike current president Pennywise the clown, he never ate children.”

    2. Did Cenk say Bush was a great guy because he started a war? I must have missed that part. Can you not hear someone who, though he did a lot of stupid things in the past, at least FINALLY says something sensible (for a change) and at at least admit that IN THIS CASE HE COULD BE RIGHT? Is your meter permanently stuck on “bad-bad-bad” no matter what?

      1. Exactly… we have to give credit where credit is due. Normally former presidents NEVER talk about the current president. I can’t stand Bush either, but this speech shows that he’s at least human and cares about how fucked up Trump is.

    3. I don’t see reporting this speech as “trying to normalise war criminals”. It’s important to report what he’s saying because (1) he’s giving us all an opening to split the Republicans between the racists and the non-racists and (2) we need to see how they are getting their act together.

Sure, every mention of GWB should start with the phrase “War criminal, George W. Bush, said”. Still, I don’t suspect this is news to anyone on TYT.

      1. I don’t see it that way either. This one story about this one speech is nothing really. It’s only if it keeps trending that way, and when it does, it will be much more the mainstream corporate media that is guilty of it than TYT. It’s just how it works. All those Hillary supporters are turning into a saint now, because of comparisons to Trump. Obama is getting the same treatment. And now George W. Bush. These guys get away with this stuff, because when it’s not called out constantly, the trend is for their history to get white washed, and when you hate the current person, everyone else gets adjusted in comparison to that person in a lot of people’s minds. That’s why the idea that Trump would create this massive progressive uprising is wrong. It just means people are more satisfied with mediocrity, because the bar has been so lowered.
