Dave Koller is joined by Ryan Grim from the DC. He explains why he’s filming from outside the capital, how he got his start in journalism, what it was like being a marijuana lobbyist, his previous connections to TYT, and his old party days.

So basically, Grimm’s in the pocket of Big Reefer.
First time I’ve seen a “Reporting In”, but i love the concept and idea. I don’t know much about Mr. Koller, aside from what I’ve seen of him on TYT’s main panel, but he seems to be doing good here. He’s always come-off as nervous, but perhaps he has a stutter. I don’t know. Either way he seems to keep the program on substance, and not any particular personality style of his own, which I like. Perhaps try asking your questions in a more concise or clear manner, but all-in-all, good stuff. my only serious complaint would be the studio, I see Ryan using the in-line Apple mic that comes with their wired earbuds, but perhaps next time he could plug in his interview mic, so we can actually hear him significantly better than the passersby.
Thank You TYT Staff, Crew, & Talent! We The People Need You Now More Than Ever!!!
Amongst all the hires, Ryan is the best! Smart and professional … no yelling, no ranting, solid information and analysis.
Ryan is awesome! It was great to hear your story of wandering into great life experiences and shifts. Gettin fired from marijuana lobbying is hilarious :)))
I hope we get one of these with Nomiki soon!
Ryan Grimm. What a guy! Smooth interview, Dave, you da MAN.
I remember first seeing Ryan out there floating around the Hill, it took me some time to get used to his soft spoken style to realize how TOUGH and clear thinking he is. One night here in Tokyo I woke up around 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep so I picked up my phone, got on Facebook and there he was, live, right over there by Capitol Hill explaining something. Then somebody walked over to him, spoke with him a bit, insulted him and left. Well THAT woke me up because I saw Ryan couldn’t give a rat’s ass about a supercilious specimen who had no idea what he was on about. No thin skin on Ryan, don’t be fooled by his easy-going looks. He’s a brain, takes it all into consideration and gives a beautiful breakdown.
So now I’m like ‘Wonder what Ryan’s up to today?’ ‘Cause I know WHERE he is and I know he’s gonna be RIGHT there breaking something big as the Trump cards fall. Hey you Congressional lunchers, you’re being watched by a millennial with millions watching him! What a fabulous hire.
Thanks Dave, as always. Thanks TYT!
I like Ryan’s work but seriously, the man needs to invest in better camera/audio equipment. I was looking forward to seeing the interview and just couldn’t enjoy it because of the poor quality.
Love Ryan’s commentary on Capitol Hill…Always informative and breaks it down for viewers to understand. I would love to see him get a weekly show where he can bring some of his work with The Intercept to viewers and also bring on other reporters from Intercept like Shaun King, Dave Dayen, Lee Fang or Zaid Jilliani who can go into depth on stories and field questions from the audience. Ryan is an excellent addition to TYT and great teamwork with Eric Byler.
Sound is horrible. I tried, but just cluldnt finish watching. A potentially great interview just thrown away. Such a Shame??
Sorry about the spelling of couldnt in previous post, new phone. Nothing like a complaint about poor video quality poor having spelling quality huh???
do you guys use skype or facetime for these call-ins generally speaking? i’ve see skype branding in other such interviews, and skype’s fidelity is generally ass compared to facetime. maybe try facetime instead of skype, and people will have less complaints about audio/video fidelity issues?
Hey TYT, was the mens room at grand central station unavailable for this interview? Way to disrespect an excellent reporter. Ryan Grim deserves better…look ashamed Dave!
Reporting In is a breathe of fresh air, Dave. This is why I’m a member. Also, Ryan Grim is one of my favorite political reporters working today.
Ryan was one of the best hires, alongside David Sirota! :)
Too much background sound and generally poor audio. I gave up. Please add subtitles!
Yess!! Ryan Grimm is an incredible reporter. I can’t wait to watch this!
Ryan is an excellent reporter and is a fantastic fit for TYT, I’m very happy that my contribution is being spent so wisely!
