  2. I seriously don’t know if i could handle right now if it wasn’t for TyT and Majority Report. God bless them for keeping us informed and being a consistent and reliable source of truth, reason, and morality while our President flirts with nuclear war and mocks the cries of anguish in Puerto Rico.

    I curse the mainstream media every day for creating Trump, glorifying his sociopathy as a reality star, platforming his bigotry against Mexicans and Muslims , marveling in his idiocy and misogyny, reveling in the anxiety he causes decent human beings in a cynical exercise to get ratings for their fluffy programming , and then having corporatist tools impotently critiquing him; smearing the spirit of ACTUAL resistance.

    And on news days like this, I can’t help but think about how we had an honest man in Bernie that would have maybe increased the tax burden on the richest entities to something that is sufficiently fair whilst reallocating our current revenue to things we actually need instead of murdering civilians, and their blind greed couldn’t allow them to celebrate a rare gem: the politician who actually wants to help people instead of them self.

    We could be making strides on climate change, insuring the masses, changing our war profiteering foreign policy paradigm, reigning in Wall Street greed, and making bribery illegal once again.

    Bernie should be our president right now. F HRC. F the DNC. F the mainstream media. And F Trump and the Repugs.

He worked as a mail man, tax preparer and 3 yrs as an accountant, so, where did the money come from for a half million for 2 homes, reportedly other real estate investments AND gamble for months at a time and sending 100G to girl friends home country last week? I had better jobs for 40 yrs, didn’t get that kind of money. If he was that good at winning the casinos wouldn’t have been comping his room, they do that to MAKE money, not pay gamblers to take money from them.
    Way past time for gun regulations as least as good as for cars.
    Tests for Licenses and the Registration of each weapon. Renewing yearly / bi yrly with new checks. License requirements based on type / quantity of weapons and for anything more than a couple of hunting guns and a pistol “for self defense” home visits and questioning neighbors. Paid for via fees. You want to own 30 guns, 6 – 18G and thousands of rounds of ammo, targeting explosives, etc, you can pony up a few grand for a real back ground check.
    This guy was a recluse in homes with blinds down all the time from reports, his finances should at least be questioned and explained, and living with a foreign national with apparently no job, and a history of changing countries and husbands that should be at least be explained before she gets access to those 30 guns
    PLENTY of warning signs given arsenal of 30 weapons.

    2015 Gun deaths in the US totaled: 33,169

    God damn it when the deaths by guns approach death by motor vehicle that closely we are just fucked. Take the number of hours that people drive in the US as compared to how many hours people use guns. I’d bet that it’s several hundred to one at LEAST if not several thousands of hours to one.

    1. Let’s just be real. We know he is only playing to dip shit conservatives who get all nice and compliant when they hear our presidents talk about god. Apparently the creator of the universe who died on a stick because he told everybody to be nice to each other is also too insecure to not be mentioned during times of tragedy.

      But let’s also remember to be respectful of god and not give him any blame for the massacre but put all trust in him to fix it because if we were to do anything it would be disrespectful to the dozens who lost their lives for no reason. It’s a little weird that god can’t be expected to stop the shooting but he can be relied on to “fix” it–whatever that means. Was god lagging that day? If that’s the case it wasn’t like his network was stunted by burdensome data before we had a reason to pray. Maybe it was down for maintenance in the Vegas area.

      It’s a prime example of them hiding behind bullshit to avoid making tough choices or doing actual work and strengthening gun control.

      They wanna talk about Jesus, I’m cool with that. Just don’t act like its his job rather than yours to protect your citizens. That’s why we have a POTUS and not a high priest. It’s disgusting corruption, laziness, avarice, and pride at it’s finest pretending an ideology that preaches interest in your fellow mans well-being, truth, and humility in the face of failure and being proven wrong.

  8. It’s funny, because I literally had someone try to use the “Oh mass stabbings happen in countries with banned guns” line. They mentioned China, so I Googled it, the worst one I could find was Kunming, which was at least 5 guys stabbed and killed 28 people, and injusted about 130. When I pointed out the worst example I could find was 5 times the man power doing 1/5th of the damage of the Vegas shooting, he deleted his comment and the thread.

  9. The shooter’s brother is lying.
    He knows WAY more than he’s letting on.
    He knows the shooter had A LOT of guns & he ALSO knew that his brother had an anger problem.
    He either knew his brother had a traumatic event that could set him off or he knew that his brother simmered with a slow boil.
    AND ALSO I wouldn’t be surprised if there WAS some political motivation behind this shooting.
    What’s his internet history? What sites did he frequent?

    It may not be a political belief that we expect. The usual Progressive vs. Conservative matchup.
    But he had a motivation driving his actions. This was not random. He planned this out meticulously.
    He was very angry at something that happened in his life & he wanted to take the anger he had on himself & spread that pain to others before he went out in a blaze of glory.

    I keep hearing reports that the guy had lots of money so I gotta add in maybe he had gambling debts?
    And then that girlfriend of his who’s out of the country.
    Maybe she’s more central to this whole thing than we realize.
    Maybe she betrayed him or he FELT betrayed by her & went into that downward spiral that made him want to go out in a blaze of glory.
    Just some speculations to get a picture of what drove this guy.
    But there’s no doubt he was driven. This wasn’t just a reckless aimless shooter.

    Chickens have come to roost for the American Empire.
    All that death & destruction we export to others around the world is collecting in our proverbial national warehouse.
    Lots of evil freight we can’t unload. And the cargo seeps out piece by piece.
    We have a death culture & it’s time to excise the Grim Reaper from cultural fabric.

    1. In my opinion it would be a mistake to focus on his motives. Investigating as much as we can on this guy is important if anything we find helps us 1) form specific strategies/safe guards to prevent future attacks and 2) find out that he is in a group or has any affiliates planning to carry out more attacks in the future. That’s all a given. But to allow media to focus on the ways will give politicians an opportunity to make this about anything but gun-control–which they are already trying to do mind you. So again, my argument is to not focus as opposed to informing.

      The second amendment has not kept up with the changing times and technology. Gun-enthusiasts need to get that through their heads; the amendment was not given for the simple right to have a fun toy, nor was made for you to protect yourself from criminals and foreign invasion. That’s what the police and military are respectively for. Instead it was to protect us from *government*. Because, as they forget too often, we had just fought off a government which had oppressed the colonies.

      The second amendment, just like all the others on the Bill of Rights, was provided in a spirit of healthy distrust and suspicion of government. NOT distrust and suspicion of other citizens.

      But no. The increasingly dangerous technology owned by the government, continual democratic backsliding, and unnecessary surrendering of our rights goes over their heads. The real issue isn’t that they love guns. It’s that they’re not willing to stand up for themselves or take the side of their fellow citizen before their government’s or even question governing officials motives.

      That said, the second amendment needs to be updated. In a world of drones, moabs, nuclear weapons, the NSA, and bio and chemical weapons guns, even armor automated guns with armor piercing bullets, ain’t gonna help you. And there is no sensible way to arm the public with any of these where we can trust citizens. What the answer is, I don’t know. But I think it starts with free access to fast internet for all and the public’s right to dictate what sort of weapons government is allowed to possess and in what quantity. Oh, and less damn secrets.

      Sadly, we have to go back to the most basic of our rights and see that government checks itself in following through and all our entitlements are brought back to their intended level of priority.

      We won’t accomplish anything given that this authoritarian bullshit is a common issue for conservatives.

    Because it’s all to easy to sit behind your computer, safe in your home, declaring that these people’s deaths are the price of freedom. It’s much harder to empathize with your fellow man. To imagine it was YOUR daughter or YOUR father or YOUR friend falling to the ground besides you, eyes confused, cloths bloodied, there one minute and gone the next.

  14. This event shows clearly more guns, less regulation is not the answer. I hate loss of liberty as much as anyone but metal detectors at all public entrances at Mandalay would have prevented this tragedy if a gun ban isn’t implemented “till we can figure this out” (yeah right).

    1. This video played on youtube’s livestream. I’m glad they did it, because otherwise it would have been taken down and this is something people just need to see as grim and upsetting as it is. I get where you are coming from and I could understand the frustration, just remember that those making these outrageous rules are in youtube’s circle–not tyt’s.

      More likely though, it was given to another news network who edited the video for tv and is now being used as the source for that specific footage by everyone else. Because TYT cusses a lot.

  19. The pro-gun crowd always seem to assume any new law could do nothing to prevent sociopaths from getting a hold of a gun, because they assume a sociopath could break any law and pay any cost to get a hold of a gun.

    This is just not true.
    Buying a gun illegally is harder and more expensive than buying it legally.
    Conversely, buying a gun in a country awash in guns is easier and cheaper.

    Sociopaths don’t all have criminal connections. They don’t have unlimited cash.

    They have to eat and pay rent and buy other stuff just like anyone else.
    And if we can keep them from buying the first gun, when they’re really just fantasizing about mass murder, because it’d take up most of their budget, that keeps them from buying the next 19 guns.

  20. I would be interested to hear how our health care system is affecting the victims of this attack. I suspect some of them will have a severe financial burden because of being uninsured or under-insured. Why aren’t these gun manufacturers paying for health care costs resulting from their products?

  22. You might Want to do some research your statements. Nevada gun laws allows fully automatic weapons. you can purchase them there. 33,000 deaths by firearms includes suicides. Flu, pneumonia has killed 57,062. Hospitals killed 98,000 people. Why are you not in such as an uproar for these. Why are you so afraid of an inanimate object.

  25. I think that every discussion of “2nd Amendment rights” should include the actual text of the 2nd Amendment.
    So here it is (it is only one sentence long):

    “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

    What do the first two phrases in this ‘one sentence amendment’ say?
    They seem to say that people should have the right to own guns in order to be able to protect The State (i.e. the country) as part of a WELL REGULATED MILITIA.
    There were little or no formal Armed Forces at the time the Constitution was written (if I recall my history correctly), so the “army” consisted of citizen soldiers (‘a militia’) who got together as needed in times of war.

    Does it say that people have the right to own guns to protect themselves…? I don’t think it does.

    I am not saying that people should not be allowed to own guns, but the sad fact of the matter is that guns are just waaaay too easy to get in many parts of the country. A 19 year old can buy an AR-15 assault rifle but not a six-pack of beer (not old enough to take responsibility for drinking but old enough to own an assault rifle. Does that make sense?)
    Also, why should civilians be able to buy military style assault rifles? Armor piercing bullets? Gun silencers?
    What’s next, hand grenades…?

    If you think that what I am saying is reasonable, then tell anyone whos cares to listen what the Second Amendment ACTUALLY says and encourage them to think about what it ACTUALLY means.

    If you don’t think that what I am saying makes sense, then you don’t understand the meaning of these words:

    The Second Amendment… know it… remember it… tell it… understand it.

    1. Planchette, the constitution IS the “greatest document ever written.” One of the reasons why it is so, is because it is built to be Amended. Problem is, conservatives don’t know that. It also doesn’t grant every individual citizen the right to bear arms, it grants them to build militias and for the citizens to bear arms through those militias, but we have a right wing, corrupt, deplorable, supreme court who purposefully misinterprets it to read otherwise.
