Whatever happened to that Russian that was posting mega long comments on the site? I think he’s gone after the election…hm.
Love it. When do they post the show from that day on the site? ET here and I’m at work when its on but when I get home I watch it but for some reason I never know when they upload that days show to the site. I hate having to miss the full show and watch it on YouTube…I love being a member and getting those good tid bits :)
We are the largest terrorist organization on the planet. The United States has completely abrogated it’s responsibilities in this matter. Hundreds dead, hundreds, in just 3 countries. Since 9.11 which was primarily a Saudi operation, the country we’re murdering civilians for presently, we’ve been responsible for as many extra territorial civilian deaths, essentially terrorist bombings, as ISIS has.
But you can’t say that out loud about the US, especially as a citizen, because the so called Patriot Act made it legal for the government to use anything you do or say in any venue about anything to trump up a reason to jail you…and likely disappear some of those who speak out.
We’re a sick god damned joke since the second Clinton administration at least. Pappy Bush, George the First, is the best President we’ve had since Carter for Foreign Affairs, yet we delude ourselves that we’re still universally loved and respected; when the best we are is feared.
Love the suggestion Ben made about sharing the open enrollment dates. You could be saving lives and annoying conservatives at the same time. Keep up the good work. Keep resisting!
Dude. I get it. Its not personal. And a couple of years ago I probably would have thought the same thing. But if this particular show demonstrated anything is that you can have lively debate without resorting to the f-bomb. If they hadn’t read the tweeters handle they wouldn’t have said mothfucker….which was as unnecessary to say then as it was in my last sentence.
Why not release a censored version as well? This one only needed a single beep.
Oh . Sorry your feelings got hurt
Because TYT isnt for children?
Dear Cenk,
Now that you’ve got all this new investment do you think it might be possible to bleep out the swear words…..or alternatively be more professional on air.
35.20 mins Motherfucker
I find myself having to applaud it actually took that long which is unusual?
You just end up sounding juvenile, rather than adult, and can’t be taken seriously.
Must everything turn into a podcast?
Why don’t you do a poll on it? I can’t be alone in thinking this.
I have to watch in extreme privacy which is hard when you’ve got young children which I would bet a sizeable proportion of your audience has.
absolutely NOT! Watch FUCKING NETWORK IF YOU CAN’T TAKE IT! or watch it on your computer…I AM SOOOOO FUCKING TIRED OF SO CALL PARENTS who are incapable of saying hey…” kids the world is an ugly place, go play with your toys…this is grown-up time. FUCK!!!!!
LeofromOZ, sorry for my bitchy comment. I really meant what I said, I am just sorry that I couldn’t erase it (after I posted it). Good luck with parenthood.
Marazona I love that tyt viewers apologize to strangers on the internet. You’re fucking adorable. For those who don’t like the course language consider catching the Sirius or apple podcasts. Much more cautious language. Me, I like the way folks rage out. And as a parent, I’m more embarrassed that my children hear what the Trump side says about women, muslims, black folks, Mexicans, the disabled, and anyone remotely subversive than hearing people use abrasive language to express their discontent about those situations. Also- if you can’t take Cenk’s occasional f-bombs, probably steer clear of Aggressive Progressives. Jimmy fucking Dore for the not-child-friendly win.
Oh, and thank-you too, kind stranger:)
Tank girl
Err I think you meant coarse words unless you were thinking … of course…. alternatively perhaps the auto spell check intervened
@LeoFromOZ NO CENSORSHIP ON CUSSING.
This is REBEL MEDIA. Where you get THE TRUTH Unfiltered.
The LAST thing I want TYT to do is to become “professional”.
That’s another euphemism for mainstream robot.
We see enough of that bullshit on the other networks like CNN, MSNBC, & such.
TYT must ALWAYS remain RAW.
No matter how polished this set gets as TYT gets bigger, TYT will ALWAYS be Rough Around The Edges & REAL.
This is the Internet Age.
No more secrets anymore.
Kids know all the words before they go to 5th Grade.
The 1950s are over.
People cuss. Every new generation learns the words because they learn them from the last generation.
We’re just more honest about it now unlike the 1950s where everybody pretended.
When something makes you angry, REALLY angry, you’re not gonna say “Goshdarnit”.
You say “Goddammit!”
I would take them LESS seriously if they WENT the Goshdarnit route.
Say it straight, say it plain, keep it real. Never compromise on your language, TYT. NEVER.
Words from a yearly paying subscriber ($100).
John Lucas
Totally agree that swear words are unnecessary and unprofessional. They devalue the TYT product.
While most of your existing viewers can
( under protest) ignore them you are seeking to attract a wider audience some of whom will simply ignore TYT as white trash. Some of those people you need to connect with as it is important to communicate ideas that they will find challenging. You should not give them any reason to ignore your message.
Discuss!
I grew up in the days of Walter Cronkite and very brave journalist that went into Vietnam and Cambodia every day we saw the carnage on television we saw the body bags of our young men coming home we saw the terror of napalm dropped on villages this is why as a teenager many of us took up to the streets to rise up against war illegal wars immortal Wars. We need our young vets to tell their stories we need more coverage on the Internet because we know MSM will not do it we need it To wake everyone up. War is gruesome war is ugly war by proxy through Saudi Arabia is grotesque. No one ever sees the flag draped coffins of our young people no one hears their parents stories It’s time to unveil the ugliness and millions and millions of Americans need to go to the streets stop these wars. Stop all this raping of American poor and middle-class in order for the 1% Do you have more money than they could ever spend in 10 lifetimes. It is time for us to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. It wasn’t pretty when we the teenagers got our heads beat and arrested. It was televised because we were peaceful protesters we did not fight back. Look up Kent State and see for yourselves how we truly tried to make a difference. We are old people now. We did our best while we could it is your baton to hold and it is your country to save!
For the past few days, the main show has been skipping, like a broken record, periodically throughout the 2-hour show… its sooooo much worse while live streaming, but stilll happens even in the later posted shows in the membership content. This sucks… it goes back & repeated short pieces, but also seems to be skipping forward at times, eliminating whole sentences… wtf?
I have this problem, too, any time I try to stream the video from the internet. I get around the issue by downloading the video and watching it that way. I think this new media streamer is just super sensitive to any network interruptions or fluctuations. I can never watch the video without downloading it; it drives me mad when it skips like that, or when the streamer just quits on life and stops playing or restarts from the beginning for no reason at all.
Has happened to me a lot too. Used to watch on Firefox a lot, but switched to Google Chrome and happens much less now. Might be worth trying
The update on the Travel ban spurred an interesting debate. However all sides did not consider that banning travel from a specific country is not a ‘stick’ for its authorities. They really don’t give a shit. Its regular people who are effected by it. People who are in some cases escaping a fascist regime or a failed state.
I think Cenk’s stance on the issue was particularly naive and ignores that Obama era procedures and checks were already unprecedented.
Welcome back Ben, you’ve been missed…..excellent panel.
Missed for what? Serious and uncondescending question.
You people are showing either a lack of age or reading. In literature, old people were often referred to as “in their dotage” or decline which is related to dotard. Now they are called senile, alzheimer’s, dementia etc.
‘ Dotard’ has been in decline but ‘Dotty’ is more commonly used.
Doolally is similar but is not applicable solely to the old but seems to have derived from a different source.
Assuming I am not the only TYT subscriber who got an email offer to “save $20” on my next power bill by signing up with Arcadia Power… DO YOUR HOMEWORK, PEOPLE…!
Arcadia is a Washington DC based corporation that does not, in fact, provide consumers with power. It serves as a go-between, an interface between the consumer and the actual power company… and yes, there’s a charge for that. We, the consumers, pay MORE, so that a giant corporation can profit, just by tickling our “wanna feel good” button with the green energy camouflage.
It only took two minutes of googling to learn that utility companies like PG&E are required to purchase a certain amount of renewable energy, no matter what. Arcadia would like that purchase to come from them, and so they trick us customers into forcing the utility company’s hand as to which renewable they buy from. We give our utility accounts over to Arcadia, give Arcadia our credit card numbers, and Arcadia pays our bills to the exact same power company we were already doing business with… while charging us an additional surcharge for the privilege of having Arcadia act as go-between.
The local utility company makes the same (overly high) money. Arcadia makes money. We, the customers, are the only losers, because we are paying MORE for the exact same service.
Gee, thanks, TYT.
I assume this is related to the $20million corporate sell-out. As Cenk so often reminds us, the big donors don’t give without expecting something in return.
I hear ya. I started instantly deleting those emails after the string of emails that incited us to “move your money to this supposedly benevolent private bank!” (a contradiction-in-terms if ever I heard one).
This is another dodgy business proposition along those same lines, and should be dropped into the same folder of rather offensive spam that Members don’t deserve to be spammed with.
Deb-n-NCAL,Thanks for taking the time to research Arcadia. It sounded like a scam, to me, so It was quickly deleted.
robertjordan18, my reaction to the “green-Bank” solicitation was the same as yours….”Our customers tell us what they wanna pay”…..ya, right!
Advertising is such an obvious missed opportunity at TYT. You need to hire a salesperson to solicit advertisers…Duh! Instead of your behind the scenes nonsense, you could incorporate product placement. Or, an open on air placement i.e. Mark Thompson wearing a T-shirt, touting his friends beverage company on Old School, and making a point to mention it on air. Ana thinks Dijorno’s Pizza is just as good as take-out…since they don’t advertise (she might find that Newman’s Own is her new favorite)…Pioneer biscuit are the BEST according to Cenk…These ads write themselves. Many folks are struggling and you thought advertising a bank and a utility company was a good idea? Jesus, even your poorest viewers have to eat! Pay attention to what products you love, and solicit those companies. Who knows, maybe someone on the team likes to get high and trust me folks: GENIUS PIPE’s are a revelation! Think about it TYT, word on the street: is you’re the number one online news network!
Thank you (I think? Your main point is not always very clear but I think that goes for some of my own posts, too.)
> Advertising is such an obvious missed opportunity at TYT.
Not really, when you consider that much of their revenue comes from Youtube ads. That’s bad enough, in a way, but these emails are much worse.
IIRC, the amount of money TYT gets from Youtube ads is actuallly larger than the total Membership fees, but in this regard I’m working from statistics that predate both 1) Youtube’s demonetization of political channels and 2) TYT’s most recent membership growth (though I’m pretty sure such growth has stalled now).
What are you talking about? I’ve never received that email
Apparently you’re not signed up with every TYT mailing list. I am signed up, apparently, because I get every email at least four times (I don’t understand why four times, but that’s the plain truth of it).
I have retrieved those emails from my trash can and for your benefit, I will reproduce the contents in their entirety below, word for word:

I started that process and then it just didn’t feel right. So I didn’t agree with the terms. Now I can’t get em to leave me alone. Last year their power was available in two states and this year 50? Didn’t add up. Love TYT but not blindly following their marketing.
They do get something i return…a return on investment. They believe TYT will turn a nice profit because of their status as the leader on the web in News. How hard is this to understand?
There’s many different ways to get returns on investment. One is access to a mailing list of super-progressives who can afford to pay at least $10 month on a luxury (no one “needs” a news service, especially when you can watch it free on You Tube). Such a mailing list is a ready-made market for deceitful scams like Arcadia Power, eager to cash in on progressive’s desire for green energy and counting on the TYT audience accepting TYT’s word that any deal TYT recommends must be valid and good.
How hard is this to understand?
I have faith that lefties are not as big suckers as right-wingers, that we have the good sense to do a modicum of research before giving our credit card numbers to a company promising to save the world. Alex Jones might be able to sell shit to his suckers, but I will hope that TYT folks are smarter.
Bernie is not punk. he’s a VT hippy. The values overlap though.
I absolutely love the quippy headlines behind the anchors on every show…..props to those writers:) would love to sit in on that brainstorming!
What Ben is saying, about War becoming too neat and negligible (for the winning side), was touched upon in the original Star Trek series. First Season, episode 23, A Taste of Armageddon.
In the episode, both sides suffered the same fate. It was clean for everyone. Every time a simulated bomb would drop on one side or the other, it was the duty of citizens stationed in the simulated area, to walk into a booth and be disintegrated.
So the war was more sanitary in the sense of not screwing up the infrastructure or seeing blood all over the place. But the deaths were real, and the population became used to it. So there was no incentive to end it.
Kirk, as he was wont to do, decided to screw the rules because they hid the ugliness of War, destroyed the disintegration machines, and forced the two sides into dealing with their differences diplomatically.
Good talk. I don’t usually watch the Main Hours, but am glad I snuck into the Live broadcasts. Ben had some interesting points; and of course Ana always sparks admiration and the pride of being a fan.
cool, thanks for episode reference;)
Sure thing, I hope you have a chance to check it out.
Dan, omg, the sets, the costumes(the half-leg-two-tone-britches and the bathing cap head gear were a riot). Anyway, I digress, you’re so spot on with the allegory of our present day drone strikes. Chilling!
Going out on a limb, but that sounds like a thumbs-up for one of the early ST episodes.
Lol, yeah! I guess, I am a little late to the S.T. party, but, two thumbs up for the crazy iconography alone…loved it!
Why haven’t they (or anyone that I know of on TYT) mentioned that Trump’s threat to “destroy” North Korea is a violation of the UN charter and international law. In a just or at least mildly fair universe Trump would now be wearing a jump suit in the Hague.
Man, news over here in Japan can be a hoot and a holler sometimes. A few hours ago on the nightly news they went over a couple of key names North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un called Donald Trump in response to being called ‘Rocket Man.’ Don’t know what the original Korean names were, but the Japanese translations were words I’d never laid eyes on before so googled ’em. I’m sure the Japanese isn’t far from the Korean, the cultures share a good number of understandings.
First Un called him an ‘oibore’ (pronounced OH-EE-BOH-RAY) which means an old coot.
Then he called him a ‘gorotsuki’ (roughly pronounced GOH-ROH-SUE-KEY) meaning a cheap hoodlum.
HI-LARIOUS right? If I weren’t sitting over here in the line of fire despising that regime so much I’d give the guy some credit for these gems, of which ‘dotard’ is his best. Had to look that one up in English for cryin’ out loud.
I see a t-shirt in your future…My personal preference is: trump and his “swamp cabinet ” walking ala reservoir dogs in black suits with red ties, with: GOROTSUKI ‘S spelled out in Korean characters …
The cool of the t-shirt is the inside joke (when folks ask you what “%&##@!” means). Anyway, Karrenola, stay calm and carry on, and: thanks for the laugh.
Don’t call it “Trickle Down Economics.”
Call it what it is … “Tinkled On Economics.”
You know that obscure Batman villain called ‘The Tinkler’?
He’s the one always leaving notes for Batman that read: “I am the dark reflection of your true self, dear billionaire Bruce Wayne, reminding you of how your economic class forever pisses all over the working class! Hee hee hee!” The note itself being drenched in something yellow and foul.
Let’s not even get into his part-time-partner-in-crime, the one who calls himself ‘The Shitter’.
Am I overly cynical in NOT believing McCain? or Rand Paul? OR Susan Collins for that matter?
Something I heard y’day, was that there are a many reasons on why to vote “No.”
BUT … Republicans don’t care about those reasons.
They ONLY care about being able to say,”We did what we said we would. We repealed & replaced.”
AND, the bigger factor is the secret tax-cuts in the bill that no one is talking about.
Politicians in general know that the majority of Americans aren’t scouring the internet for the truth.
Most Americans don’t even know that their healthcare that they have (as okay or shitty as it is) IS Obamacare.
They won’t know until it’s too late, that the Republicans have fucked them. And to be real, Rethugs will spin it so that it is DEMS fault that THEIR new plans suck!
All I can say is thanx gods for Jimmy Kimmel!
He’s reaching more average voters than any politician or pundit on cable.
Ben must be pleased as punch that the same people who have corrupted the Democratic Party, now have a 20 million dollar stake in TYT, and that those people are now sitting on the same board (the TYT company board) as he sits on.
Of all people at TYT, Ben has always been the most similar and the closest to billionaire assholes like Jeffrey Katzenberg. So I have always suspected that he would be the first to sell out.
All I can say is …
THANX GODS you are back :)
I’m paid up until March at least. At that time, the task will be upon me to decide whether “the TYT Army” still really exists, or whether it will have been reduced to a kind of rapidly-shrinking private militia/mercenary army that merely serves Jeffrey Katzenberg & Co. Heh heh. ;)
At which point this soldier may go on the run to Canada (so to speak, not literally).
Welcome back, Robert Jordan. See the post I just made about Arcadia Power (Hr 1, 9/22) — your worst-case scenario speculations may already be coming true.
(I would copy and paste into this comment to make it easier for you to read, but given the hard time I gave you earlier this week for that same sin… that would be a tad hypocritical :o)
That hard time was fully deserved, I took a great liberty by pasting a long rant in four different places. And I have of course concurred with you on Arcadia Power.
Regarding the McCarthyism era in relations to the Russia meddling, and North Korea – I hope I’m commenting on the correct video – do you remember who one of Trump’s mentors was?
Roy Cohn
This was the Right Hand Man of McCarthy!
:-)
Yeah, Ben’s comment …”if you are comparing this to McCarthy era, you clearly haven’t read a shred of history…” was FOS, but, I still love you Ben, you smug bastard!
What bugs me about all the shit about countries developing nuclear weapons is that the ungodly countries like the united states make anybody who wants to protect themselves from imperialist somebody that’s not Godly or holy like them .They are all ungodly and should be called what they are .Godless.
I really enjoyed hour 1 today. Great insight, great discussion! Thank you TYT.
That Rosa Parks shirt should be followed by a Harriet Tubman shirt that reads The Original Resister Sister, i’d wear that all the time ??
Excellent idea Pixxie Haxx!
Your right, Remy2k, words are important. My personal terrible way many great people, including those on TYT, refer negatively about “tax cuts.” When regular people hear about “tax cuts” they like the idea. When one is denigrating “tax cuts” that are tax cuts for the rich, say so. “Tax cuts for the rich” resonates in a way “tax cuts” doesn’t.
Why is the back screen of trump as a cat….or is he sneezing, on Kim Jung Un?
I think it’s a cat fight.
I packed my bags last night preflight
Zero hour nine AM
Gonna be high
As a kite by then
I miss the earth so much
I miss my wife
It’s lonely out in space
Such a timeless flight
as this
And I think it’s gonna be a long long time
til touchdown brings me around to find
I’m not the man they think I am at home
ROCKET MAN!!!
Burning out his fuse up here alone
All this science I don’t understand
It’s just my job five days a week
Rocket man
Rocket man….
Hey gang,
Could you please stop using the generic term of “Donors”? I’m a donor, and there are hundreds of thousands of citizen donors who contribute to progressive candidates and progressive factions that promote progressive values.
I guess what I’m asking is if you could please start differentiating between “citizen donors” and “corporate donors”?
I, a donor, cringe at the thought of being lumped in with corporations buying legislators.
Thank you for your consideration, and keep up the great work!
~Remy~
Your comment is confusing. Would you rather them avoid using the term “donor” altogether, or just differentiate the difference between corporate and citizen donations?
If you’d like them to stop using the term “donor,” please press 1. No… that’s wrong… please provide a more suitable alternative.
If you’d like them to differentiate the two, well… I don’t know. They constantly do that, and you should pay more attention to context.
Watching Cenk talk about Justice Democrats is a great example of the latter. Politicians can’t take big donor money, private or business. If it’s enough money for one person to potentially influence policies, it’s a problem. It’s not just about where the money goes, but more importantly, how much. We all want progressive ideals to win, but we should win fair and square. Cheating is cheating regardless of ideology and outcome, and a progressive shouldn’t want to win that way.
Huh, ok.
All I’m saying is that there is essentially two types of donors in America. Citizen donors who are capped at (what is it?…$2700?), and corporate donors (billionaire conglomerates) who can donate outrageous and seemingly infinite amounts of contributions through super pacs and dark money donations to candidates.
I KNOW that I am a donor.
I know that Mega-corporations are also donors.
-but-
There’s definitely a difference.
I’m just hoping to evolve the terminology to clarify the distinctions.
Thoughts?
GOOD REASONING. THANKS.
~Upaya~
