Robert E. Lee descendant resigns as pastor story:
Im telling you Christianity from its core is Racist. Just look at how the Roman/Byzantine Empire history. They discriminated Colored People(Christian or Infidel) and Protestants still follow this Cultural path so not surprised that they went against a Progressive Christain.
Cenk and Ana,
Regarding Ohio Cop,
I am conflicted and of two minds here. I don’t believe this cop is a terrible person or a bad guy necessarily, I would agree if the Photo Journalist said he did not want cop prosecuted, but I can’t agree that the cop should not have employment consequences he should not be a police officer armed and on the street, if they want to transfer him to a desk job at the police department I would be ok with that. This just goes to further illustrate that “Good People” can be the product of bad training and end up being bad cops.
Cenks Mario game of choice, the always excellent Dr. Mario! I bet Ana was the right age for maybe Super Mario Brothers or a Yoshi’s Island which are also fantastic. Mario 3 is the one I have a soft spot for since it was in The Wizard and that movie is dope and stars not only Fred Savage but a young Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley.
On the point of what if Mario became a climate scientist, he’s had his turn cleaning up the environmental excesses of the Mushroom and Tropical Kingdoms in Super Mario Sunshine, one of the best games in the series. Also, the way Cenk says Maaario is how they said the name in the movie from the 90’s with John Leguizamo and the always incredible Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper. The move is shit but I still love it. Great hour 2!
As a former police officer I would have to know more about the exact situation: lighting, weather, distances, stress of the traffic stop itself, etc. There are no details. All this news analysis is basically useless without the facts. The relative substance of this article has been ignored completely.
Training is paramount in this situation. Shoot don’t shoot training is critical for police officers and many agencies don’t experience it. It’s possible that this officer never did anything except qualify with his sidearm against a paper target. Training, training, training and more training, that is what is required and it’s expensive. What were the specific circumstances in this incident? Here there is nothing but speculation. Here there is nothing but polemics.
As a current police officer, I can tell you that the shoot/don’t shoot training is basically shoot training. Picture a giant projection screen with various settings, a park, a generic traffic stop, the front door of a house, with random civilians in the same places…the setting repeats over the course of the training, but different people can pull the gun, including the cute little cheerleader, the old blue haired granny, etc… the training sends a clear message: anyone can have the gun (someone always has a gun!) so be prepared to shoot anyone at any time….. had this training offered to me last summer, watched a few guys go through it, took a hard pass. I don’t need to practice shooting people.
Hi TYT,
I am a DACA recipient and yesterday was a sad day for many of us. I am a web developer, have a full-time job as a graphic designer and I’m currently trying to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in the IT field. I honestly don’t know why people don’t want us here. I pay taxes, help my community and love this country, but somehow that is not enough. When politicians talk about immigration reform they always say that immigrants need to pay taxes, learn english and adapt to the American culture. Well, we (dreamers) have done that and now they want to deport us. It is sad to think that we have six more months before we go back to the shadows and start being targeted for deportation. I’m just glad that the Republicans are the party of “Family values”.
Jose R
Hey Jose,
The reason why they said that was to gain broader appeal to their racist policies. They never meant those things, they just wanted people who don’t pay attention to be swayed by those things, in order to gain their vote. In all honesty, the reality of immigration reform and the things that need to be changed are in large part caused by programs such as NAFTA so you have hateful people on the right who want to kick out people because they’re, (the politicians and their followers), awful people being buoyed by people on the left who support programs like NAFTA because it was done under Clinton.
You and people like you are the exact image of America. You came here, brought by your family, in order to find a better life, and have done so. This is what the Statue of Liberty stands for, and this is how the country should be. I don’t know if I can adequately express the sorrow that I, and many millions of people, who voted against this racist, xenophobic, racist, and bigoted administration feel about this decision. I know that me saying that I am proud of you and everything that you’ve accomplished so far here in our country won’t do much to make things better, but at this point that is all I can offer. I hope that somehow our ineffective and terrible leadership can find it in themselves to make sure that the 800,000 of you and your families will be safe and able to remain in your true home.
Thank you so much. I still have hope that this great nation will do the right thing.
Jose
Sad to hear this… can you preemptively move to Canada before they deport you, or do you have a restricted passport?
Hi, I am evaluating my options. I know that Canada is more immigrant-friendly and I don’t have a restricted passport so that’s a good thing.
Jose
Jose R,
I can’t even express how sorry I am that you and other DACA recipients have to go through something like this.
I just hope you know that most decent human beings DO want you here, and we’ll fight along side you to keep it that way.
Thank you for your kind words. I am hopeful that congress will pass something before is too late.
Jose
I laughed so hard at 37:21 “He retired from plumbing and now he’s a climate scientist.” lol
It would be the ultimate coup de grâce to Mario as a working-class video game icon and instead promote the politically correct social ideal of employment. Well done.
There needs to be a tyt let’s play
YAAAAAS!
What’s a good game for the groups mixed familiarity with games? Mario Party? I’m partial to group games so that would be a blast to watch, maybe Smash Bros just for silliness to ensue. :)
Pertaining to the story of the cop shooting, I live in New Carlisle, and I am so glad you guys covered this story because I agree with you completely, the cop should be prosecuted, but the people who live in this town side with the cop, and I can’t believe it. He didn’t hesitate to shoot, he didn’t even stop to consider that it could be just a citizen out doing something in the town they live in. So ridiculous.
A fraction of a church can make a pastor’s life miserable. I’m a pastor’s kid and growning up what I saw a a vocal few overriding the pastor and the majority because they had money, or their family had been in the church for “generations”. That small fraction would drive people out of the church that they didn’t find acceptable. I understand where Pastor Lee is coming from.
Isn’t it ironic that the dreamers meet the necessary requirements of 45s “Immigration plan”
While I’m understanding of that cop’s community, I’m disgusted at their lack of responsibility. Sometimes you need to do tough things! When did responsibility become such a hard concept? When will that cop accidentally shoot someone else? Absolutely disgusted at that community for being enablers. Get that cop another job where he doesn’t have a gun.
Why is there 2% vote to blame Bernie Sander on TYTNetwork.com/Lost
there are Correct the Record trolls and rightwing nuts among TYT paid subscribers.
You don’t need to be a paid subscriber to respond to the poll. You just need to have been watching the show live (which is free on youtube) and type in the URL to go to the poll and vote. TYT has its share of hate watchers. However, you must be a paid subscriber to be able to comment on this site.
It’s even more disgusting to be sending money to help Texas after the flood.. These people are the enemies of progress. The storm is Chinese hoax anyway. Send them nothing.
The 40min second “hour” is really starting to shit me!!!!
They take breaks which I assume gets it up to an hour. Watch a half hour TV show and you’ll see without commercials it’s only about 23 minutes of show. Same thing here. It is what is and it isn’t any different than what everyone else does.
The 40min second “hour” is really starting to shit me
I love it when I see that Hour One is more like an hour and a quarter… More Cenk! Less Ana! whoopee!
“I’m going to vote for a white supremist just to spite Hilary Clinton”
-America
We might not make it to 2020.
“I’m going to run for president because Its My Turn, and I don’t care that being one of the most loathed figures in American political history means that my candidacy makes a Trump presidency more likely… Besides, my family has all the money we need to split this burg if it all goes to hell, so who cares.”
— Hillary Clinton
Geez “Hillary,” why you be such a cake whore all the time?
That Trump supporter who flipped out about the title of an article exhibited impulsive behavior based on a pre-existing ageist bias.
A third of the people in the USA are THAT dumb to still like an incompetent malignant narcissist and idiot who is running this sociopathic program between the ears, just like themselves.
Heaven help us, we’re doomed.
I want a gif of Ana saying “So shut the fuck up. ;)” at 30:52, that was fucking awesome and hilarious, hahaha.
Whoopsie, 31:52*
Hello Cenk and Ana. My uncle who I believe was racist used to say shoot first and ask questions later. And that’s the mentality of law enforsement across the country and that puts us all in danger..You have a great show and Ana is BEAUTIFUL!.
and Anna’s a woman
Sorry Luis, you’re way off base here. I’m a former police officer (took a much higher paying technical job, so don’t go there) and that is not the universal attitude/mentality of law enforcement. Police officers are human beings just like yourself, so making a blanket statement like that is neither fair nor accurate. You’re blowing smoke.
Have you ever had to point a weapon at another human being? It’s not a comfortable feeling I can assure you. I’ve done it, but did not have to pull the trigger. For that I’m thankful. Police officers risk their lives daily, actually 24 hours a day, because they’re always on duty.
Domestic violence calls and traffic stops are the most dangerous situations they face. So when you approach an officer surrounded by angry, shouting people and he/she tells you to back off, leave or sit down he/she means it. Do what you’re told. He’s/she’s trying to stabilize/de-escalate the situation and learn the facts. Don’t act stupid.
When you are pulled over just remain calm, roll down your window, put your hands on the wheel and let the officer speak to you. He/she will tell you why you are being stopped. It may be for a brake light out, an expired plate or even to notify you of a family emergency in another state. In reality you may be fleeing from a homicide or a robbery you just committed. The officer doesn’t know that. If you mouth off or start moving around in the vehicle and reaching around (furtive gestures) he/she will treat you appropriately. Every officer understands that you’re nervous. That officer is doing his/her job.
If you hate law enforcement in general then you need to deal with your own issues first. As a personal aside, I would urge you find a local community college or an online course in both English/writing as well as Logic. Your conclusions are fallacious. Your description of Ana is irrelevant. On the other hand, I do think TYT reports things that don’t get told and that’s very good.
A basic concept of education is that we are all lifelong learners. Your post is a “teachable moment” and I hope I have given you something to think about. Who or what you are is irrelevant and what I say to you is for educational purposes not personal criticism. I don’t offer it as the latter. FYI, every time I finished a traffic stop, whether I issued a citation or not, I always said, “Drive carefully and have a safe day.” And, I meant it.
Thank you for this reply! I have family on all sides of the law and the broad brush is a very strong urge to put down, I’m glad TYT and it’s viewers are capable of nuance as well as pointing out the mess we are all in. Thank you for your service as an officer and best of luck on your new gig!
Perhaps Mario’s profession was a nod to the White House plumbers of the Nixon administration? Or maybe its faulty neurological wiring that has always led me to notice bizarre similarities in things that are supposedly unrelated.
Regards,
Mike Van Handel
Faulty neurological wiring also obscures the difference between its and it’s.
Mario’s been working since 1981, it’s about time he got to retire and enjoy life!
The get off the couch thing is projection like Cenk always says. There are how many articles calling millennials lazy? So they read that headline and bam projection…
Grouch potato here. I’m an over 55 sitting on my couch watching you make fun of all the reactions to an article they all seemed too lazy to read. And I couldn’t stop laughing. What the hell?! I don’t get why they feel so threatened by and hostile towards Millenials unless of course they are starting to feel a relevancy deficiency and Millenials are showing them up with their abilities and progressive values.
I find a lot of Millenials are super smart and talented and they are willing to give things a go in a way I never did at their age. Kudos too them. Our generation has given them the tools to succeed and we Baby Boomers would be doing ourselves a favour to support them to succeed rather than trying to slap them down.
Must go now, I’ve got together off my couch and do some exercise.
