  3. Congrats to Maytha….excuse me Dr Maytha. My daughter earned hers in Clinical Psch and works within the Autism Community. So proud of her. She worked so hard and paid for most of it herself. She put off earning good money and having babies. So proud of her as I’m sure your parents are. All the best in your future.

I would understand if she was doing Dhikr but its not the time to be flailing it on Work. its used ONLY at ur Personal time NOT ON WORK!!!!!, QUIT the look at me, Im a “Muslimah”.     1. If she was not white they would have charged her with “resisting arrest”. gods know what might have happened to her in jail.
      She was taken off the job. What about the patients she was not able to help while she was under assault?

      1. but here is the thing. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) never said you shouldnt do dhikr but that u shouldnt make it some mundane cultural custom. A tasbeeh is only for concentration on prayer of Allah. She in her work place right now doing her job. She shouldnt be doing dhikr were there is work to do. It rubs me off as the same type of Propaganda an Extremist would do…..its great that she does dhikr but let’s keep it within the context of the Sunnah of the Prophet.(pbuh) His way is the Best way. I am just saying as a Muslim. We need to know what acts say. Everything has meaning so be careful from sending the wrong message. A Practicing Muslims isnt this uniformed set in stone list of steps; but the Abstract concept is Universal and agreed in the Spectrum of Muslim Identity within the Ummah.

This is not Christian faith where anyone can dictate what is what…Islam grounds its interpretation from Quran, Sunnah(Prophet Muhammad’s understand), Unanimous Consensus/Majority Consensus of the Ulema(based on studies), Urf(Knowledge of the Present) as foundations of What is What in Islam.

        If you don’t see your Shahada(in its Context), Salah, Suam (if you dont have a Medical condition that could )prevent you from Fasting), Hajj (if you have the means to Travel) as what makes yourself a Muslim then you arent a Muslim. You rejecting the idea of Core Islamic Tenents of your Deen, removes you from Actually Identifying as Muslim.

        Other People dont determine what makes you a Muslim. It’s your personal relations towards the Quran, Sunnah of the Prophet(pbuh) that makes you a Muslims. Ex:

        1) If you reject the Context of the Shahada
        2) If you don’t Believe/Acknowledge as Salah as Obligatory duties to Allah and advise other Muslims to follow that view.
        3) If you Reject Suam as Obligatory and choose to advise other Muslims not to partake it.
        4) If you don’t see Zakiat(helping the Needy) as Obligatory.
        4) If you believe that Hajj isn’t Obligatory if you can travel.

        Then you have removed yourself as A Muslim. Nor can you truly say that you’re a Muslim. Others dont Determine who is Muslim. Your Personal Belief to Submit to Allah through the Core Tenants does.

  12. I am beginning to hate the term “Centrist.”

    It makes me think of fence-sitters and the vast sea of “Independents.”
    I would rather someone say they are right, left, conservative, progressive… whatever.

    Only in the Democratic Party do they see “Centrist” as a positive. It describes someone as pro-corporate, pro-establishment, in favor of de-regulation, pro gay marriage, probably foreign interventionists and MAYBE pro-choice, but not necessarily. In other words, Centrist is code for “Liberal Republican.”

    I find this is NOT a positive.
    I reflexively recoil when I hear “Centrist.” It means that politician is about to fuck you over.

Macron is being referred to as a centrist and put in the same category as establishment democrats, but you cannot compare American left/right with their direct counterparts in other western democracies. Its a different scale altogether. A centrist in France is still left of the progressives in the US.

Cops, like people in any organization, will be emboldened to follow illegal orders if they are confident that their superiors can and will cover for them or mitigate any of the negative effects. Until there are multiple precedents of officers being prosecuted for ‘following orders’ to violate the law, I am afraid it will continue.

    That this person was a detective and had to pass rigorous examination and demonstrate knowledge of the law and procedure makes this so much worse.

  16. Hour 1 isn’t that long though. It’s 1 hour and 6 min. Before the radio deal seems like we used to get close to two hours of content, I think?

    It’s Friday though, Post Game is longer and I can’t blame them for being short because they just want to call it a week.

    1. Yeah, I agree. We’re kind of getting fucked on Fridays because Hour 2 is like 30 minutes or 40 minutes now because of the Sirius deal. Kind of sucks but that’s how it is now until the deal runs out.

  20. Maytha’s story – similar thing happened to me. Police pull me over for speeding; I had been sitting in stop and go, traffic in a suburb, but I had observed a silver Mercedes flew through the frontage road and got into the main road. Instead, they stopped me. When I spoke to the officer, I explained that it was a car that looked like mine, but it clearly wasn’t me (I think I ruined it for myself when I laughed and said how could you confuse my car with a Mercedes!). Long story short, they called more cops and roughed me up. What is infuriating, is that no one who is white, no men (even my husband) will believe this story; assume I made it up – but it’s like Cenk summed it up – welcome to my world – it’s just Wednesday. I’m glad these stories are starting to surface – this happens to POC all the time. I look forward to a time when protesting one’s innocence will not result in a beat down.
