  2. That “uncertainty in the market” that the insurance companies are claiming is a load of bull. When Obamacare was first passed, they skyrocketed premiums in the claim that now they had to actually cover sick people (oh god forbid health insurance be used by the sick!) Then they raised premiums every year after claiming that they were losing money due to sick people – even though their profits skyrocketed while people still struggled. Now they’re blaming an attempt to END obamacare as a reason to raise premiums? Bull Shit. Absolute total malarkey. They’re just coming up with more and more excuses to rip us all off as much as possible before the inevitable single-payer system passes. And what they don’t get, is that we’re going to pass single payer in direct response to their own unmitigated greed.

  3. I’ve been a paying member for a very long time. 10 years or more. In other words, I’m not some newbie troll. But I now feel the need to state that in my opinion, TYT’s news coverage has so dramatically diminished in the last couple of years. We all love and adore Cenk, but the yelling at the camera thing with door dash research into the issue is getting old. Yes, Cenk is a total boss when it comes to understanding politics. But the news reporting lately (the last couple of years) has lacked a shocking amount of depth. I fear that Trump has ruined us all.

    And, cuz I’m on a roll, yes, call me an asshole, but Ana is simply disastrous – first and second hours. Over the years I’ve continued paying my $$ monthly for Cenk’s commentary and insight on the news with pleasure. But straight the fuck up when Ana does the first hour, what’s the point? I never listen to the 2nd hour. So when she is on the first hour, forget about it. Yes, yes, I know I’m in the minority, but damn, having Ana in the first hour is harming the TYT brand. She is vacuous, vain and simple. And don’t tell me she’s the most prepared person when entering a debate (Cenk) (Ann Coulter – Ana watched every single Coulter debate). She was debating Ann Fucking Coulter. Seriously? Please find a replacement for Ana – I know you won’t, but your company’s long term survival depends on it. IMHO

    And, here’s a thing, like a lot of TYT members, I contributed a fair amount of money to hiring the journalists. When are we going to start hearing their reporting on the main show? We paid for it, we should get some results.

    You actually think progressive news is their return on investment? 2012 Cenk would laugh at such a ludicrous assumption. IT’S THE MONEY LEBOWSKI! In fairness, Cenks is a proud Capitalist, former Republican; admittedly hasn’t read a single book on Marx; even said he refused in college.

    MSNBC didn’t offer enough, but with the Progressives now being Aggressive; looks like $20,000,000 Million Dollars was the “right price.” It won’t be immediately obvious. But… When it matters, those 20,000,000 million chips will be cashed in. It’s really $20,000,000 million favors; but that won’t be obvious until Bernie runs in 2020, and support drops away right at a key time, or they hold their chips, let Bernie win, then cash them in to undermine. I fully believe Cenk believes this is not how this will work. I garuntee teams of lawyers, and the individuals themselves have and will continue to swear on anything it’s not the case. But.. like the Godfather… One day, maybe tomorrow, maybe never; Cenk will be called to “do a service” for their generosity. He’ll protest, but it will fall on deaf And vengeful ears. These people don’t look like Mr. Lebowski in his wheel chair, they never speak like him either; Nor is Cenk really “The Dude.” I have more member years than anyone I know online, and I have 20,000,000 million reasons to believe this.

    How, after a 3 hour long conversation, and years of being aware of his work and the things he says, can you still not know the first thing about him? This is just classic Cenk straw-manning. “I don’t have a real cogent argument, so I’m just going to come up with terrible attributes and ascribe them to you.” I’m sure there’s a clip around here somewhere of Cenk saying Sam is a republican. ‘Coz we all know republicans are the evilest of the evils right? Cenk’s world is disgustingly black and white. You either completely agree with him 100%, or you’re on the naughty list and it’s just a matter of time before you’re the enemy.

  9. Concerning the expected big jump in insurance rates in Wilmington, DE, from a resident of Wilmington, DE. Northern Delaware has had lower than expected rates, up until now, because the rates have been based on the state as a whole. The central and Southern portions of the state more rural (and poorer) and have a lower cost of health care. The most Northern portion of the state (Including Wilmington) has become a suburb of Philadelphia. And medical expenses are higher here. We enjoyed our good fortune while it lasted.

  10. Love the show, love Cenk and Ana, but every time Cenk talks about religion I cringe. I am not a religious person but I have studied it and I go to a jesuit university and there are much smarter arguments to be made against it. Some of his broader points are good but his specific analysis of sections of text are cringeworthy in their apparent ignorance of theology. Just like his struggle with analyzing technological news I think he should take a step back to admit his relative novice on the subject of theology. Being an evangelical atheist is not the way to combat evangelical Christianity.

    1. I admit that I still cringe when religion comes up, but I have to admit, they’ve improved. I’ve been a big critic of the bashing of all religious people in the past, but I think Cenk did much better of showing the hypocrisy of so-called Christians trying to use the bible to justify their preconceptions and not lump everyone else together with them. Since I can’t get an adequate theological discussion from most Christians, I definitely can’t expect Cenk — an avowed atheist — to do so.

  11. Speaking as one who was raised by fundamentalist evangelicals… I stopped believing in my parents’ interpretation of God when I was 8 years old, upon realizing that their idea of God was on a par with the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus.

    Nonetheless, I was also a prodigy in bible class who read both testaments cover to cover and memorized the entire book of Psalms and quite a bit of other stuff, like the Sermon on the Mount. I just liked reading, and memorizing poetic verse. Did the same with Shakespeare. Anyhoo….

    In my teenage rebellious days, I would challenge my parents by countering their bigoted, intolerant, war-and-punishment-oriented outlook with quotes from the New Testament. This worked to silence them for a short while… because they were honest people and hearing a Jesus love-thy-neighbor quote that was in stark contrast to their own angry intolerance made them pause…. but then they rallied. (In retrospect, knowing they were addicted to Pat Robertson’s 700 Club and attended religious retreats on a regular basis, I realize they must have asked for advice and been told how to respond to my pesky Jesus quotes.)

    There came the jaw-dropping day when my mother primly corrected me, and dismissed my Jesus quote thusly: “People are worse today than they were in Jesus’ time. If Jesus were here today, he would not say the things he said back then. Today, we need to look to the Old Testament for guidance.”

    I kid you not. My “Christian” mother dismissed the New Testament as irrelevant to modern times. Proof that religious fundamentalists are driven by blind negativity.

    Fundamentalism is a mental disorder.

  16. I agree with the Sam Harris comments. That being said, I think a really good book to read is Islam and the future of Tolerance by Harris and Nawaz. Harris seems to have changed or at least become more nuanced in his views on Islam since the end of Faith days.. to borrow a page from Sarah Silverman’s book, Sam Harris and Cenk Uygur having a beef is like sweet potatoes having a beef with yams. I seriously think it’s time to bury the hatchet.. Even Ana found it cringy…

    1. Sam Harris hasn’t changed, and that book is a fucking joke. Sam got a token Muslim to give his bigotry cover, and that’s all that book is. It’s like Ayaan hirsi ali, that Bill Maher, Sam Harris, all the bigots parade around as their token muslim, so they can say their uneducated vast generalizations without criticism. It’s like the token black people and women on Fox News who are there to safely criticize black people and women. The bigot Sam Harris has not changed at all. He now softens his words a little, because he can’t keep writing screeds pretending his previous words don’t mean what they say.

      He’s a bigot, a little trust fund baby who did a silly PhD that no one took seriously, so he used his mommy and daddy’s money to fund his own research, so now people pretend he’s some intellectual. He’s not. He’s an opportunist who is trying to shift with the mood of the times, and yet he still won’t admit he’s right wing, just like his little lapdog Dave Rubin. They want to be part of a certain social group that isn’t right-wing, so they have to all this dancing to pretend they aren’t. “I want to be a fascist and bigot without people calling me one, and still get invited to cool parties. Boo fucking hoo”. People like him, because he makes them feel like their basic, idiotic bigotry is somehow rational truth, because it’s been blessed by a high priest of the rational world. It’s not. You’re just a bigot like him, no different from the racists of the 1950’s calling for segregation forever.

      Sam Harris is the modern version of turning the call for segregation and racism into “states rights” and “economic stability”, coded racist dog whistles are still racism. He rode the anti-Muslim hysteria after 9/11 to fame with no apology, and now that he’s getting backlash for it, he’s trying to pretend it didn’t happen. He’s a sick, disgusting human being who has an annoying little following online. Cenk is not wrong to mock him. Everyone should mock him. No amount of his moron clone army online claiming otherwise will make it not true. Cenk is absolutely right to have beef with this spoiled little bigot. He should never back down from it. Cenk has Muslim relatives who actually face the result of Sam Harris’ opportunistic idiocy. It’s not some imaginary “thought experiment” to them. There are consequences for this in human lives that idiot trust fund babies thirsting for fame choose to ignore. That makes them disgusting human beings, and that’s what Sam Harris is.

He tries to hide behind nuance like Dave Rubin, but make no mistake, they are hard right wing ideologues. The right wing has been increasing in membership and threats across the country but fucking Muslims across the other side of the world get a DISPROPORTIONAL focus of attention because it appeals to RACIST THINKING. The team and Cenk specifically spent a lot of time responding to tin-foil-hat questions (and some legitimate concerns) but completely dodged people who asked about the valuation of the $20M investment. That’s a perfectly normal question – what stake in TYT did $20M buy them? If you can’t answer that then at least say you can’t answer it – don’t ignore the question or pretend it doesn’t exist.

    1. I also hope this investment means TYT can make a few more hires and stop using people from Pop-Trigger on the main show. I love Grace, but no one else from Pop-Trigger has any business being on the news show.

There are few things on earth more blatant and obvious than Cenk’s dishonest treatment of Sam, and I cannot comprehend how he thought he would get away with it.

      1. I don’t think I’m stepping on any toes to say that Harris is a more scholarly, if not just plain smarter individual than Cenk, and that gives him clear advantage in debate. Cenk being unable to analyze and dissect Harris’s argument in real time doesn’t mean there aren’t flaws.

        Harris and the other new atheists are excellent critics of religion and there is definitely value in that work, but Harris fails to scrutinize the secular state with the same rigor he applies to religious groups and it shows when he tries to compare them. If you’re not familiar with Harris and Chomsky’s discussion(s) I would advise checking them out as Noam’s clarity of thought is once again the strongest force present and Harris comes out looking naive at best, and deceitful at worst. (that is, only if you use critical thinking skills instead of taking Harris’s rebuttals at face value)

    3. Oh, this is why I love TYT, I watched Sam Harris TYT interview. It was clear that each side, ( it was a destine debate masquerading as conversation) had ample…mind-numbingly long, time to clarify their views. Interesting how burchmore500, joe rogan, ben shapiro etc, take time to caste aspersions at Cenk. I guess it goes with the territory. So, Cenk, calling Harris out on his double talk and muslim “hate speech” while giving EQUAL or more time EXPOSING the self-righteous ultra-religious-right who are hijacking America …gets your panties in a twist burchmore500 ?     If only people were as outraged when Clinton bombed Montenegro as they were when Trump pushed its president aside to get a better photo at that NATO summit…

  28. Manifort so called affair the NI ending quote “betrayed his wife and country” was very specific in the woman’s age 33yrs old. Sounds like frame work for Manifort to be accused of sleeping with the Russian Lawyer in order to save Trumps Kid and his own ass. just wondering how old the Russian Lawyer is. Just muddying water thinking they would throw off the FBI because they are that stupid. The wording in the end sentence is what is so out of place,the word “and your Country” just thinking if this is Trumps attempt at deflection from his own money laundering for Russia/Italian mob.
