Cenk, Brett and Francesca Fiorentini. Trump fires Priebus and names John Kelly new Chief of Staff. Senate votes down skinny repeal. Moscow retaliates after Trump is sent sanctions bill. Trump officials teaming up with Koch org for tax reform event.
You have a long segment about the new sanctions bill, WITHOUT talking about the substance of the bill itself? Is that a joke? You ONLY talk about it in regards to domestic politics and Trump? No other country in the world would impose international sanctions only for domestic purposes?
Last year Cenk said over and over how important the Iran deal is and that one of the biggest threats regarding Trump is, that he Fs this thing up. Now congress does exactly that, Bernie warns about it and votes against it and nobody cares. Cenk mentions it shortly, but when Francesca starts to talk about it, it almost seems like he doesn’t want to highlight the issue. It is amazing to me how little trust the most liked politician in the US has on this panel, the guy you want to run again and win in 2020? Are we now the ones calling him fringe and pie in the sky etc. because he doesn’t want to conflate a complex international/diplomatic issue with domestic politics?
This has nothing to do with not wanting to talk about Russia or denying Trump’s Russia connection, but I can understand the critics of the media narrative more and more – first we ignore possible new conflicts in Syria, now we risk a deal that took 10 countries years to agree on, that effectively stops Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Why? Why are we not able to separate different aspects of an issue, why do we have to be in order to believe A is true? Why is there no nuance in the discussion about Trump, Russia, the elections, sanctions, bombing Assad etc.? It’s embarrassing, it makes us look like hacks and we lose moral high ground.
The Iran deal does not really stop them from marching onward toward making nuclear weapons. There just isnt sufficient enforcement of the deal or snap inspections of all facilities allowed.
My point was: Cenk said it does and Cenk said the deal was important and Cenk said it’s one of the things that Trump can F up, yet know with Bernie warning and voting accordingly, Cenk doesn’t even seem to care, that’s what so confusing and irritating about the whole situation…
For god’s sake. Not everyone watches Game of Thrones. When Brett starts yammering with his long-winded GOT analogies, I just fast forward. I’ll be so glad when that show goes off the air.
Being a suicide bomber for the cause would seem somewhat shallow, given a diagnosis of a couple of months left to live. It’s only sacrifice, when you stand your ground on principal in the face of pain or loss for doing so.
I work for a company that has twice in the past 5 years layed people off, a week after announcing that beat their revenue goals. Corporations do not hire people just because the afford too, they hire people when work load forces them too. This is way supple-side economics doesn’t work.
Fuck John McCain! He’s only now opposing Trump because he has months (at most) to live. If he didn’t have an aggressive brain tumor, he would have kept up with his right-wing shenanigans like stripping millions of the very health care that has extended his miserable life and also trying to start a war with Iran in which millions would likely die.
In my opinion, that brain tumor can’t be aggressive enough. He’s a monster through and through.
Having a death wish against anyone in a comment is way uncool. He’s a monster is about the farthest one should go in a comment. You tarnish us all with such cheap and vile shots at a tragically sick individual. Clean up your act, everyone. WE can’t afford to be such jerks when the situation is so dire. Clean up your language and act like you have a heart that works
If it weren’t for the effort to walk back the Iranian Nuclear deal (which they have been upholding), I would fully support the Countering Iran’s Destabilizing Activities Act. If anything, we’ve seen a gradual thaw in their traditionally hardline against the West, as they haven’t exploited the situation with Qatar and they have been generally helpful in the fight against Daesh. At the very least, least we should maintain our side of the bargain.
All that being said, politics is a game of give and take. So while I welcome the moves against Russia’s sustained hypocritical subversion of Ukraine’s state sovereignty and North Korean provocation, I hope that we could keep the language against Iran out.
Yes. Most sane people prefer diplomatic solutions like sanctions with a nuclear power over a.) armed conflict, or b.) doing nothing and letting said nuclear power walk all over any country it wants to
And as a PS… I’m on a Covered California plan, basically on the extanges… Before Obama Care, 499 a month… After, 119… Just sayin… Oh, and that’s down from like 134…. I love Obama care…
McCain did just what he said… He said as he voted for debate, but could not support the bill as it stood… Debate was then kinda hijacked by the Republicans, nothing on that piece of shit changed, no return to regular order… This process should take about nine or ten months, not nine or ten hours… I love John McCain, could not disagree more with him politically, but he gets how this is supposed to work… You know, mostly….
– We’ll see if European leaders will go through with their threat of countersanctions on the United States, as those sanctions against Russia run the danger of leading to European companies being sanctioned along now, given how European states have a lot of business dealings with Russia. Given that these sanctions are for alleged, unproven actions in a domestic US affair and also are clearly meant to give US companies a business advantage, this is rightly seen as a cynical move by European heads of state.
– I’m pretty sure that there will be no “kompromat” revelations next week, given how I don’t believe that there was Russian election interference and as well that there was no deal between Russia and Trump about interfering in the election. If nothing on that front happens, will Cenk acknowledge that, or just trot out his next conspiracy theory to keep his belief that there definitly was a deal. He has no problems stacking his panels with people who will say “Yes, master, yes!” to whatever story he brings up (given how Jimmy and anyone who dares disagree seem to have been banished from the main show for more than a month now), so I don’t even hope for some pushback at TYT.
– In that vein, I feel bad about the obvious rift in the left community over the issue of Russia “interference”. Aside from it affecting how TYT is hosted (no more Jimmy Dore, Michael Tracey, Jordan Chariton getting on as panelists), it also has basically all the reputable leftist investigative journalists, as well as some commentators like Kyle Kulinski on the skeptic side and then the TYT political commentars on the non-skeptic side. And those two sides don’t talk to each other, they avoid mentioning each other and if they do, it’s mostly in oblique references. You can give credit to Cenk calling out Michael Tracey by name one time, but as well a huge, gigantic discredit by doing it in a venue where Michael could not defend himself (doubly so because he wasn’t there and also because Cenk is his employer). I’m not sure where this will lead, but it seems highly damaging to the community, content producers and content consumers.
I know a lot of crazy shit happened over the past few days, but I’m genuinely shocked at little coverage the Bill Browder testimony has received in the media. I thought for sure you guys would be all over considering how much you like talking about Trump-Russia, but nope, nothing. IMO it’s one of the most important stories of the week. No smoking guns but the dots are seriously being connected.
Come on, Cenk! OF COURSEEEE, the Republicans know that the healthy are paying for the poor. They use the stupid line about the healthy having to pay for the sick because their BASE isn’t too bright or doesn’t follow politics as closely as we all do. It’s the same with with climate denial.
Based on the Russian Sanctions segment I’m guessing everyone in the video is in favor of more sanctions and increasing tensions with a nuclear power except for maybe Francesca
Everything is like that show you may or may not have seen. Thousands of years of human history but, man, this sure is like that show. Love that show. Must-see TV.
This was a build up of Trump FBI firing , BS about his capture, going after Session, the two female senators. He was never about regular order remember the Supreme Court nominee of Obama. Period.
Quote from Francesa “This is scary shit”. I agree, but you realise this has been the MO by the CIA and many times directly by the US government and their allies. Many times resulting in long term wars.

The right reference is King Lear, the buffoon king who rewards incompetents who flatter him, but casts out those actually dedicated to his success.

I’m sorry for the mistakes/typos,
I’d really love to have an edit button
why do we have to agree to B in order to believe A is true?

Here I would love to be rocking some of those pins but dayum they pricey. Do i get a camera named after me in the studio if i buy a set?
For god’s sake. Not everyone watches Game of Thrones. When Brett starts yammering with his long-winded GOT analogies, I just fast forward. I’ll be so glad when that show goes off the air.
Totally agree. I don’t watch that show so whenever anyone at TYT starts to talk about GOT, I lose interest.
I’m with you there

On the taxes issue:

These 2s are going to take over the website.

I did not catch the stare at McConnel after the thumbs down. In my opinion that is even worse than the thumbs down.

I have the same conflict with the man. Have had for many years.
Alright, Trump is signing the sanctions.
So, couple of points to that.
– We’ll see if European leaders will go through with their threat of countersanctions on the United States, as those sanctions against Russia run the danger of leading to European companies being sanctioned along now, given how European states have a lot of business dealings with Russia. You’re only selling the pins as a $70 set? Why not $15 for singles. The Nerd Alert one is legit, others, not so much
Serious question: Do the republicans just get unlimited chances to get repeal/change the ACA, and we just all collectively gasp each time they try?
Yep.
I know a lot of crazy shit happened over the past few days, but I’m genuinely shocked at little coverage the Bill Browder testimony has received in the media. Thank you TYT I love every minute of my free membership month. I will be so sad when it ends, I can’t afford the $1O.
Alternative loyalty.
I think I fall with your show every day. Thanks!!

I guess we are supposed to trust the intelligence community about Russia interfering with the election?
This was a build up of Trump FBI firing , BS about his capture, going after Session, the two female senators. He was never about regular order remember the Supreme Court nominee of Obama. Period.
I invite you to watch Secular Talks video on the Russia bill. Comeon TYT, talk about how the bill also violates the Iran deal. Who cares about that.
Cenk you’re empowering Trump by adopting his catchphrases and mannerisms. Sorry but you’re not Alex Baldwin, you can’t effectively satiris him.
Quote from Francesa “This is scary shit”. I agree, but you realise this has been the MO by the CIA and many times directly by the US government and their allies. Many times resulting in long term wars.
That’s bizarre o Brett or Tterb is we call him
He looks and sounds like Brett, but where’s the hat & sweater, and what are the things on his shirt?
