  1. this is not the first time I see this, and I really don’t know what’s up.. why are people drinking from preserve jars there ? :))

  2. The show Steve described sounds exactly like the show Vikings, but from the English perspective. same time period, same events, and Vikings, for a lot of people has filled the void from game of thrones over the last 5 or 6 years.

    1. Except The Last Kingdom is based on a series of historical fiction novels written by Bernard Cornwell, and is FAR more historically accurate. It actually takes place about 100 so years after the events of Vikings, except for the fact that Vikings really cherry-picks and combines characters and events from a 200 year period and presents them as happening at the same time. Vikings is a decent show, but The Last Kingdom is hundreds of times better in all aspects.

  3. Ok so what happened, there has been like 7 videos where the host’s hits or kind of talk about something that happened be not really. most of this videos are member only content so not the best time to have a free month. but I want to know what is going on.

  4. Aaron try the beach again. But this time head about 20 minutes south of MB to Garden City. Much more family friendly. Or better yet, stop short of South Carolina and head to the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. (Before they’re swallowed up by rising oceans!) Great having you on OS. Enjoyed.

  5. Haha at Aaron criticizing Cenks grammar.. Look at all member uploads like 2-3 months ago when Gigi was on vacation and Aaron was going the descriptions.

    1. Good point, but I was actually teasing Steve and Malcolm, they are our resident grammar police. I was and still am a HUGE fan of Cenk’s writing, I thought it was powerful. I actually have been trying to convince Cenk to write a book for years.

  6. That comment was about a specific report/tweet that the new reporter, Michael, made a couple of weeks ago claiming a senator pushed him.

  7. Aaron is great, I like his work from the beginning and he has a couple of videos out himself about how to tag Youtube videos more efficiently etc. !

I don’t know what Steve exactly meant with the “definitely not the host”, sometimes not with tweeting/reporting. But I want to point out that the in-fighting at TYT, especially if it involves false accusations/misrepresentations (but as we learned in the whole Sam Harris incident is always up for debate), but more importantly the claim that somebody is a right-winger in disguise, a sell-out or dishonest actor is F-ING annoying! I know that nobody on TYT is arguing for war, but that people are worried about potential tensions between Russia and the US is definitely legit/real, it has nothing to do in my opinion with the potential Trump/Russia connections in general. The way how some TYT hosts raise concerns about the framing of the Russia narrative by the mainstream media and/or the Democratic party leadership doesn’t mean they don’t believe in potential collusion and to say they are apologizing for Russia’s anti-gay propaganda laws is completely ridiculous. To call them Putin lovers/apologists, to call them dishonest actors that are just out for the money, to compare them to Milo , Tomi Lahren etc. is just wrong and makes it seem absurd to criticize others for calling people sell-outs or hacks. The Maxine Waters incident was blown WAY out of proportion.

A consideration to be careful around the Syria and related US/Russia stories would also make it seem “interesting” to then call other people dumb or ridiculous for being careful around stories because of their potential implications, but that’s another story. The crowning of this behavior is to call it a potential inside TYT power grab to criticize Ana (seen as No2 behind Cenk) or Michael (frind of Cenk, old school friend of Ben). I’m sorry, but “I know you’re angling for an invite on TYT, which is why you’re intentionally misrepresenting my commentary. Nice try.” is a more than ridiculous answer to legitimate disagreement on how police reform has to be addressed. It’s a criticism that Michael has raised on a Friday post game before btw and is very well known, I’m not even sure Ana actually disagrees with it. That has nothing to do with concerns about the image of TYT, that is just hot-blooded over-reaction that makes herself look ridiculous. But what makes me actually angry is that these animosities continue to linger, are not just a shortsighted reaction, but become ideology apparently and now even people like John who doesn’t usually lean towards these kind of hot-blooded reactions channels the same bullshit, it’s annoying… What is wrong inside TYT, what has happened? Maybe I should comment like this on a Friday post game, but for some reason this weeks Old School feels just like it, without the Weekly Whirled News of course.

    1. Thanks for the positive comments, I’m not on-air much so I’m not all that comfortable. I don’t get involved in the other stuff you mention, although I generally agree in-fighting is never good in any organization.

    2. Super late reply but just catching up on old school.

A lot of what you are claiming people are accusing others of simply doesn’t exist. I am looking for evidence of claims that someone is really a right winger or a Putin apologist and it’s not there (not from anyone that works for TYT at least). There is a rift between TYT people but they seem to be handling it fine. They have had these disagreements before. Who doesn’t seem to be handling it fine is fanboys of certain shows that throw out baseless accusations and attempt to create needless drama… for instance… you. If anyone is going to ruin the TYT family it’s going to be the “fans” and not the hosts

  8. Thanks Aaron for being the backbone, stay strong in these crazy times we need TYT’s light more now than ever!
Great show, loved the inside baseball. Good luck John in the arctic. Be well

  9. Who’s this Cenk fellow? lol These Old School’s are fiery asf. Old TYT war stories are always hilarious! Thx guys!

  10. Well my Deers I am proud to say I am 58 years old, have been watching for about 2-3 years. A month or two ago I scraped enough to become a member. For me to put that kind of money out I have to really like you. I don’t necessarily always agree but I find the honesty refreshing an insightful. Keep up the good work and Thanks PS I’m very old school

  11. I have to say, I saw Cenk on MSNBC back in 2009(?) and he impressed the hell out of me. So I started following him and that was my introduction into the Young Turks. I have been with them ever since. I am 60 now and I recommend TYT to anyone who will listen. Sadly my ex-wife, also 60, is a die hard major media news junkie and has been since the 1970s. I gave up on them and PBS when we lost the likes of Dan Rather and Mike Wallace. When Cenk laid out the corporatism and their take over of major media starting in the 1970s I realize in a moment of satori that this entire system we have lived with since I was a child is total bullshit. Lies on top of lies. So don’t count out the older generation too quickly. I know some my age who are 100 % with Millennials and have supported young people since the 60s. And we are Academicians, most of us. Activists back in the day. Academics has been infiltrated by conservatives and corporatists since the 70s something my father, a PhD in Modern Russian History would attest to. I hate it when academia is dragged down but it is deserved. Anyway there are older folks who follow the likes of Chomsky (a great hero of mine since my college days in Linguistics) who are just as passionate and progressive as any. But being old, like being young, are ignored generally.

I love Cenk, Steve, Malcolm, Jimmy, Johnny Pie (good on you for your work in academia), Brett and all of the great folks at TYT. You give me hope. How I would love to know you guys on a personal level. (my son at 32 is an awesome man but so blinded to the shit show he is going to have to live through. He thinks me a nut of the highest order.) Rock on!

  12. The chef lifts the spoon from the broth to his lips.
    “Needs more Cenk.”, he says.
He dips his spoon into the broth for a second time.
    “And more Ben.”
