Francis Maxwell interviews Troy Duffy, American director & screenwriter known for The Boondock Saints and its sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All-Saints Day.
The first Boondock is my favorite movie of all time. I had similar feelings to you of discovering this amazing secret back in the day before anyone else knew about it and delighting in introducing it to my friends. I never watched two because I heard lots of terrible things and that Dafoe wasn’t in it. I was super curious but never watched it for fear it would ruin how I felt about the original. Maybe someday I’ll watch two, three, and the TV series, but I dunno…I think it might kill the magic.
I’m assuming you’ve watched the documentary about Duffy called “Overnight.” Duffy’s take on things seems pretty different in this interview, unsurprisingly, particularly about the role of Columbine in his blacklisting. I wonder what your thoughts are on the Duffy portrayed in the doc having now met him in person and interviewed him.
