  1. Al Franken would be a good vice presidential pick to Bernie or Warren because he’s on the border. And he has the establishment. So…. if Warren or Bernie think they could push him enough to the left that could work.

  2. Just turned on CNN and it was Russia coverage and its 11 days after this video. Progressives need the fountain of youth because Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Bernie have to last another 10 years.

  3. The Kaine analysis is wrong. Hillary’s camp picked Kaine because they are very demographic conscious. They thought progressives would fall in line, they had nowhere else to go, and largely those whom voted did. With Hillary, they thought they had women and minorities. Kaine was a Biden-like pick designed to pick up swing state Virginia, and other white males. It’s too bad he was utterly unlikable and gave off almost as much politician double-speak stench as Hillary.
They gave progressives platform points and then proceeded to not run on them. Even an idiot isn’t fooled by them.

  4. And Tim Kaine was thought to be a SAFE choice. If he is an non entity how was he a safe choice? Safe means someone who will help the Hilliary Clinton to win.

  5. Excellent Post Game Analysis.

Hard to know whom to trust with some of the burgeoning in-fighting among progressives. Even the differences of opinion withing TYT itself. But both Ana and Cenk’s commentary on Warren shows very clear level-headedness and observations on how she conducted herself in Cenk’s interview (which I thought was done very well).

I think Cenk makes the most significant point here – Elizabeth is just not a very good politician. And she still seems to be mostly in the Hillary camp of democrats. Pivoting often to the Republicans during the entire interview, bringing up Russia as the main 2018 campaign issue (which IMO is just a dumb-ass wrong direction for the Democratic party to go) – defending Manchen who again, much like Hillary, is a kind of Democrat that is all that’s wrong with the Democratic party. And then saying she was proud of the Democratic primary (thanks to the Humanist Report for pointing out this flawed response as well) … which avoids all the problems and avoids accountability for the Democratic party that they so desperately need right now. Instead, she asks us to all focus on Trump – and not talk about the flaws of Democratic party.

What to also apologize to Ana for some of my sharp comments during the live show. What sticks in my mind most of all is the failure of Obama or Warren to take more leadership action during DAPL – even while so many progressives were risking life and limb to stop the oil pipeline from being completed. I think for me, that was truly the final straw when it came to Warren. But Ana has always been balanced when it comes to the Democratic party’s utter failure to represent progressives in so many ways.

I guess it’s just hard to pull away from someone I admired for a long time. Warren seems like a very nice person – but I just don’t feel she is a very capable politician as Cenk points out, and don’t feel she would be that a good a progressive leader in the future. We need unapologetic progessives like Tulsi Gabbard or Nina Turner instead.

Glad to still be a TYT member (despite what they say about you guys online) tee hee.

  6. The reason that Bernie’s age doesn’t matter as much in 2020, as it would a ‘normal’ candidate, is simple risk vs benefits analysis. If we get a any of the Dem personalities that we’re familiar with, the risk is really just business as usual.

A Bernie presidency, has nearly the same downside risk, but an UNLIMITED upside. – for the country, for the world, and for the future of the species.

It’s not that Bernie will be able to accomplish everything he campaigns on – he won’t – but he will almost certainly bring in the era of Single Payer. Once that is established, and its opponents can see that it isn’t the ‘government takeover’ that they’ve been hearing about, then it’s permanent. It won’t be taken away, with the ease with which they attacked Affordable Care. It becomes an entitlement that we can fine-tune, but we won’t have to over-worry about it, anymore.

He still won’t be able to accomplish everything he wants, because of the way that established power works to protect itself. But he’s already changed the terms of the debate, and his presidency and accomplishments will enable taboo discussions and support mechanisms that were not possible, previously. From there, it’s only a matter of time, before we have moon landing-level initiatives to end poverty, replace gas guzzling machinery with sustainable alternatives, and finally turn the impending crisis of Automation into an opportunity.

  7. Goddamn it I hate it when you guys diss on Franken. Goddamn it shitting on Minnesota, we also gave you Keith Ellison! We have real progressives here in the state.

    1. Minnesota also has the longest history of progressive politics in the country. They really don’t understand Minnesota.

      1. For sure! I was even more disgusted then when I saw the Friday’s Main Show and Cenk was teasing an upcoming story, saying “Try to guess which state is now going to imprison doctors for performing abortions” and Michael Shure guessed “Minnesota”. I literally Picard face-palmed.

  8. I have been yelling about the new attempt at subverting progressives from the left and yes it is a paid effort. The CTR bots didnt work in the primary because they tried to push from the right and that just united us. Now they have altered the tactic are sewing division by posing as the most left guy in the room. They have a couple bittermen indie jornos who didnt get hired on the journalism drive to tote the water and the DNC fraud lawyer punch drunk and screaming at shadows. Its disconcerting and dangerous

  9. I just read the comments. They all contain these phrases: No, no, no – No Liz – Oh no girl – They are traitors – and the Republican donation.

It is a no brainer. I %100 agree with Cenk.

  10. I admire Cenk’s attitude. Brush it off and move forward. There is so much work that needs to be done. No time for their pathetic comments.

  11. I love you to death Ana, but I do disagree to an extent. I think that more than any one person, Warren would have put Bernie over the top, and nobody today would have to hear Hillary whining about Comey. Together they could have taken her down and her little superdelegate cronies, but instead we now have Trump. Hard to see how it isn’t her fault.

    1. I agreed with Ana. I think Hillary had already assumed she was going to win no matter what, and would not have picked any progressive, including Warren – no matter what.

It was a great point Ana made – and Cenk even acknowledges it here.

  12. You’re absolutely right about the bots. I scrolled through that feed as well and it was the same tweet plastered over and over by different “users”. Thankfully, there were plenty of TYT peeps setting the record straight.

  13. Ana: “Where the heck is Tim Kaine?”

Me: He is a fart in the breeze.

HRC picked him because they were trying to go after suburban soccer moms, like Schumer said. The establishment is a joke.

It was a very good interview Cenk, my only main disappointment was that Warren could not name policies that Democrats would run on. When you asked her about that she started talking about Russia. I would like you to have followed up a little harder on that questions, because policies for 2018 are really important and blaming Russia is not a policy. That said, I really appreciate that you were able to get her and, despite her being very progressive, you brought some fire. Love you guys!

  14. I’m not one of those people who think Elizabeth Warren is secretly not progressive. I think she would be a good candidate for 2020. However, her bad political instincts and willingness to take advice from people in the establishment bubble is not just a minor concern. It may lead to her political downfall even if she does become president; because the instinct to mind the conventional way of doing things may help her fail at being the progressive president we so desperately need right now. Her administration could turn into a conventional Democratic one, at least with respect to the final results of their efforts. I’m not saying she would be the same as Obama or HRC. But it’s even easy for Warren to underestimate how difficult running a progressive White House will be when all institutions of power (including the Democrat Party) are hostile to the very idea.

  15. If my comment [on the interview] was seen as a *total* softball then I take some of it back. But there are clear points, that have been covered by TYT, that go against what was said never mentioned in terms of the corruption in the Democratic party.

She also heavily focused on Republicans Vs Democrats, as if all Democrats are good. I feel like something should have been said, considering Cenk is a founder of ‘Justice Democrats.’

  16. Cenk is delusional , Bernie will be to old to be elected president in 2020. The people will never elect a nearly 80 year old as president.

    1. No one care. He can die in office, at least he’ll have put in a progressive cabinet.

You are the delusional one, He can absolutly win.

    2. They elected an orange, man-baby, reality TV star who’s twice divorced and bragged about grabbing women…I think, after 2016, age is the least of anyone’s worries unless they want to automatically disqualify a candidate they don’t like such as Bernie Sanders and (maybe) Elizabeth Warren. It’s like Cenk mentions, the establishment is saying Bernie is too old but Joe Biden, who’s only one year younger, isn’t.

So long as he’s still healthy I think he’d do fine against Trump. All he needs to do is pick a running mate who’s a strong progressive and has presidential potential rather than just a paper running mate like Tim Kaine. Elizabeth Warren will be in her 70s too, but no older than Trump is now as President. Even better, though, would be Nina Turner or Tulsi Gabbard. Nina will be in her 50s and Tulsi in her 40s.
If he has someone youngish on the ticket with him, I’d feel fine about the practical issues surrounding his age. Even if he had a fellow septuagenarian running with him though, I’m the opposite of the DNC…I’d rather roll the dice on winning with old Progressive than definitely lose with Corey Booker or Kristen Gillibrand or Al Franken.

    3. I agree that I would prefer a younger charismatic progressive who’s record backs up his talk, but if Biden is being seriously considered than Bernie is not too old. I would like it if Bernie said upfront that he was only running for one term to give the Revolution a boost, and pick a really good young VP.

    4. I’d rather have a great president (with a great VP) that might not be in for a full term than a corporatist perpetuating the establishment policies. But come on! Look at the guy! He is the embodiment of health. I mean how the hell is he still continuing fighting for us? I’ve been sick a couple of times during the past two years but he keeps on going.

Him being too old is a shit excuse by the establishment that I’m not buying.

  17. People need to stop making excuses for Democrats who still haven’t realized that keeping it real is they key to winning in this climate. Warren is great, but we don’t need to shield her from criticism and go into Dear-Leader mode with her, Bernie, and all Democrats to beat the Republicans.

That’s what Trump supporters do. We’re better than that.

Now, if you’re mad that Bernie receives less flack than Warren, don’t get mad at the flack… push Warren to be more true to her progressive values and more courageous when it counts.

*also, TYT has been critical of Bernie when necessary— especially TYT politics.

  18. If you took all the superfluous Russia crap out of the Rachel Maddow show, it would be five minutes long.

  19. BERNIE NEEDS TO GET ON NIAGEN – it’s the only scientifically proven method to reverse aging and make ur body and mind (brain) feel like it’s 18-20 years old again. I take this every day & it’s given me a new lease on life. Remember Cenk & Ana did a story on the research regarding reversing aging? Cuz it’s considered really safe, you can buy it over the counter. alivebynature & nectar7 have best value for money, but if you’re buying smaller quantities ProHealth will give u the same value.

Also, Ana was supposed to do everything in her power to prevent Alex Jones from getting access to this new Fountain of Youth, Niagen!

  20. It’s the smugness of the main TYT hosts that I am finding incredibly unappetizing.

Cenk keeps saying Bernie nearly beat Hillary. Sure, but he ultimately lost. He is therefore by definition a loser. Same analogy Cenk applies to Peyton Manning. Winning counts, coming close doesn’t.

I wonder why Hillary would be confident she would win on election day when polls put her at something like 66%. She obviously lost, and probably was overconfident but the polls clearly supported that position. It was after all the position Cenk had accepted on election day until he too was proven wrong.

If the Justice Democrats crush in upcoming races, then great. I will become a believer that a large percentage of the country is progressive. I suspect however that there will be a couple successful candidates but the vast majority of the Democratic party is not as left as the TYT audience.

As far as the TYT bubble is concerned the vast majority of Democratic elected officials form the establishment, and anyone not as committed to the progressive cause is a spineless politician. Elizabeth Warren, stated to be the 2nd most progressive senator, finds herself on the shit list for progressives for not supporting Bernie. When you so casually throw stones at anyone not as pure as you, you’ll find you don’t have too many people lining up to become your ally in the fights you want to fight.

    1. Except Cenk nor Ana drew her off for not supporting bernie, and cenk’s coverage explained how she likely thought she would be of more use as a vice president to hillary than by endorsing bernie, so i donno why you’re saying Cenk threw stones at her.

    2. Dude, you don’t understand how politics work if you think Bernie loosing to Hillary by 12% in a primary of just 2 people makes him a looser. If you put things into perspective, Bernie closed 60% gap, while being virtually unknown, without any establishment support, open hostility from the press, no war chest to speak of, and with extremely favorable southern primaries to Clinton early in the season.
If Bernie lost, that must mean Clinton won. If Clinton won, how come she’s done politically? While Bernie has very good chance to run again and win. I wouldn’t call that a loss and Bernie a looser.

  21. I am ready to move on from Elizabeth Warren and Bernie. Obama brought a message of hope and change in 2008 but largely failed to deliver. Bernie shone a light on our problems and showed how to consistently fight for what you believe. In 2020, I am hoping Tulsi Gabbard picks up the baton from these 2 campaigns and leads us to where we need to go. Lots of hurdles to get there but it would be amazing if she could pull it off.

    1. omg Cenk you’re so right! I read the comments on that tweet as well and it was so bizarre. Repetitive and obscure comments.. that shit is scary :/

  22. It was annoying you asking if she wouldnt run in 2020 would she endorse Bernie? Why? Is obvious she wants to run. Let her run. You guys are just super bias. bernie also signed the letter to the UN demanding not to bully poor Israel. You never mention that. My point is none of them are perfect. In your mind is only bernie. He is great dont get me wrong but stop throwing so much shade of Warren when you have horrible people that you should be going after. At this rate if Warren wins the nomination progressives wont vote for her cuz she is not pure enough.

    1. Elizabeth Warren is playing it safe right now… in a way that I think is slightly detrimental to her politically…
But most progressives will vote for her if she gets the nomination, because when shes up against republicans, she lights their ass on fire in spectacular ways

    2. Cenk, when it comes the recent onslaught of bots on progressive platforms, I tend to think it has more to do with Justice Democrats challenging incumbents than who you will support in the next presidential election. And, of course, the fact that TYT’s influence has grown enough to warrant subversion tactics.

    3. I think many of us are gun shy about her because we got burned by Obama. I like Elizabeth Warren but I’d prefer Bernie be the progressive nominee because Elizabeth Warren makes me nervous. I’m not sure if she can be trusted or, maybe a better way of saying it, I’m not sure if she’s resolute enough. I’m not sure if she’s a fighter. She plays it safe…like Obama. When it comes to progressive women, I’d rather Tulsi Gabbard. She’s much stronger and we need strong.

That’s where the hesitation comes from. It’s not about a purity test, it’s about whether or not she’d actually follow through with progressive policies or would end up being a repeat of Obama.

That being said, if Bernie doesn’t run and Elizabeth Warren does I’ll vote for her in the primaries without any hesitation. Certainly I’ll have no problem voting for her against Trump! If both run…I think I’d have to go with whoever’s ahead in the polls and has the best chance of being the nominee.

  23. Anyone who thinks it was a “Soft-Ball” interview is a pretentious douche who has their head up their far left, liberal pure ass! I thought the questions were great!

    1. The issue, from the comments I read, wasn’t related to the questions. It was related to the follow up.

She effectively said Democrat good, Republican bad. And Cenk is a major part of ‘justice Democrats’ so could easily have pushed more against Joe Manchin or Nanci Pelosi. Also, TYT are covering the corruption of Democrats at town halls…which was never mentioned. (Bare in mind that Warren has talked in the past about corruption of money.

The issue is that TYT [as a brand] cover some of the democratic injustice; so when Warren brushed it off, it was hard to listen to. – Btw, I’m not American so don’t feel as hurt about her not endorsing Bernie or American politics in general. Just putting forward my observation based on watching the TYT network.
