Jimmy Dore, Malcolm Fleschner, and Graham Elwood for this week’s Aggressive Progressive. The trio watch a throwback TYT clip of the original Aggressive Progressive, Cenk Uygur. Malcolm talks about the activism work his mother does.

Please put the interview or an edited copy of it somewhere public so we can share with other people the struggle against this injustice. I hope the main show teases it at some point as well.
Agree that bashing the media in general is old; it needs specific stories and themes to make it interesting. Can’t believe that Shure was a shill back then too. Sometimes I hate the guy, but then I realize that he’s just laying out the establishment belief that the people are at fault, and then people can go and see how full of crap the establishment is. Dore needs to be on the main show more when Michael is.
Watching this was extremely cathartic, keep calling these motherfuckers out Jimmy and don’t ever change. People complaining about Jimmy’s aggressiveness should just get over it, what Dave Weigel is doing is totally unreal.
I have a great idea. Sit Steve-Oh-Shit-I-Have-No-Business-Being-On-This-Show down and show him that clip of Cenk going off and show Steve what “aggressive” looks like. Can Steve-Oh-Shit-I-Have-No-Business-Being-On-This-Show do that? No, he cannot. Not an aggressive bone in his body.
Aggressive Progressives is my favorite show on TYT, by far, but I don’t think your comments on Steve Oh are fair. While his demeanor is much less aggressive than Jimmy’s, they agree with each other ideologically. And that’s the important thing. What sets AP apart from the main show in particular is its criticism of U.S. foreign policy. Jimmy and Steve are of the same mind of those issues. But I’m not fully disagreeing with you either… when it’s time to start the Revolution someone has to throw the first brick through the window and Jimmy is more likely to do that than Steve any day of the week.
If TYT claims to be Rebel HQ, then the Aggr Progs show is on the front lines (need more shows) and the $2M investigative reporters are Special Ops taking out Command & Control and other enemy critical assets.
Take down the Corporate Coup d’etat and the Deep State that willingly allows everyday people and natural resources to be crush in the name of more money and power – we need to fight back with a multi-pronged approach – progressive media alliance, open primaries, progs to infiltrate both parties, start a 3rd party, expose the corrupting power of money that is orchestrating the war against everyday people and take them down, protest, call, speak out, comment, support progressives in a variety of ways, help investigative reporters to expose corruption by the powerful behind the public leaders, push back on the propaganda media machine when they are wrong, …
Although, I appreciate fighting against smears by the corporate sellout media – 50 minutes was a bit much for a 83 minute show.
TYT producers – please do a fundraising campaign to extend the Aggr Progs to at least 2 days per week at 2 hours long. I want more Policies & updates to the terrible Budget, give us the details on the Healthcare costs, coverage, problems and legislative process, I want deeper debates and discussions on things like Corbyn’s detailed progressive platform, more interviews by our $2million investigative reporters on their stories with hard-hitting follow-up questions, more indepth coverage on big news stories on the various wars, how do we end these terrible wars, what is Big Oil really up and how they have their hands in every rich country, exposing the hidden corrupt donors who actually are pulling the levers of power and telling their politicians to lie to us – take them down!
Sumud Freedom Camp:
I’m extremely impressed with the segment by Malcolm via his Mom and the two representatives speaking to us on their ‘Standing Rock’ protest in the face of a similarly violent and oppressive police state – Sumud Freedom camp.
It is amazing that this group saw Standing Rock and used it as a model for their work. That’s incredibly powerful. I am proud to see this work – bringing Palestinians and Israelis together to push back against the work of the police state that forced people out of their homes 20 to 40 years ago with all kinds of bullying and terror and violence.
Thank you so much for showing us this story, their needs, their motivations, their struggle, their STEADFASTNESS!
Recommendations for Your next Stories:
1) Update on the Afgan War – 16 yrs, about 3000 soldiers dead, somewhere between 150,000 to a million civilians dead, $23B/yr and $117B for reconstruction (there’s been a lot of waste and fraud and many examples where reconstruction was not done). Why are we really here, how do we get out of this VIETNAM, will Big War really end this war, what can everyday folks do to stop this b.s.? http://www.alternet.org/world/americas-afghan-war-16-years-many-one-million-killed-and-war-machine-keeps-rolling
2) NO more Quid Pro Quo – How can Tillerson be at a meeting with Exxon and the Saudis to make a deal when he said he wouldn’t to Congress? Even bigger – how can the US make deals for certain companies to other nations? There should be Separation of Corporations and State, like Church and State! http://www.counterpunch.org/2017/06/01/tillerson-present-as-exxon-signed-major-deal-with-saudi-arabia-during-trump-visit/
This is by far my FAVORITE show on TYT. You guys are awesome!!!
OMG and LOL Cenk is sure pissed off in that old clip. Guess that’s why we need Jimmy. Cenk is not a pissed off anymore, but most of us are still that mad
Oh, Cenk still dials it up to that intensity of righteous anger occasionally. The main difference between then and now is that the number of citizens feel like that has exploded, and not surprisingly, when you consider what direction things were already heading into back then.
If rage could be converted to electricity, 2006 Cenk would be enough to power a city.
they got this one up pretty slow. watching it days later now
still love y’all tho
Gosh dammit I love Jimmy Dore. The very last part was amazing. Incredible to see such brave people coming together & peacefully fighting back like at Standing Rock. I’m proud that as members we are in part the reason this show exists. Thank you so much!
I honestly don’t find the Graham provides much insight. Also, why does he always wear a tshirt over a long sleeve shirt every day? But really though, good episode, but it just harped on the same thing over and over and over and over.

Thanks RobertJordan – that was so easy. I assume, one can vote everyday until the deadline June 9. I looked to see on their website, but it didn’t say.
Yeah, you are allowed to vote at least once every day. The only reason I know this is because Cenk has mentioned it so many times in the past. :)
Yeah thanks for the link. Another great episode, especially cool that bit at the end giving a voice to people that would never be invited to speak on mainstream news outlets. Thanks TYT and AP.
Let’s give thanks indeed. How many networks would give that much time to ordinary, struggling people?
This is the first AP I couldn’t make it through in one go. I got bored, probably because I didn’t hold WaPo(or the rest of the corporate media) in high regard anyway, and didn’t need to be told of their scumbaggery.
I couldn’t understand the excessive agressiveness until it was revealed that Jimmy’s show was mentioned in the fake news article. I wish that they’d lead with that because Jimmy dialed it up to Alex Jones level for more than half the show which was grating.
The interview section didn’t work well, except when there was a description of the clashes with the police, which was upsetting. You want to inspire action, you need to amplify the humanity of their plight. Otherwise, it was too dry. Just an observation.
Jimmy cut off Malcolm mid thought at the end because Malcolm was had finished his funny bit on drugs.
The old Cenk Rant (classic – LOVE IT!) encapsulates why Michael Shure & Establishment Dems will continue to LOSE elections.
Cenk blames the media for not informing Americans. He is RIGHT. They were lazy, suck-ups to power.
If you shout from the roof tops, “WAR! Americans MUST fight,” but then post a retraction or articles on why this is wrong on page 12, or below the byline, or mention on in a crawl at 3 am … that doesn’t fuckin count!
Michael & Establishment types blame the PEOPLE for not checking on the MSM’s facts!
Or reading further while they are on their way to their 2nd or 3rd PT job. Or trying to stand in line at Social Services. Or just taking care of the kids & the laundry & the groceries & grandma, etc, etc. Not everyone has the time to do this. Americans are suppose to be able to believe at least SOME of what their MSM is saying, because this is a giant country & world! How do I know what is happening in CA? Or MA? Or anywhere, unless I hear it from the news? Granted, now we have the internet … but a lot of people still get news from TV.
Michael Shure has not changed his opinion in 10+ fuckin years.
Cenk STILL blames the MSM. Except now, instead of screaming about it … he is trying to do something about it.
(Btw, Cenk looked pretty sexy during that rant. Not sayin’ anything, just sayin’ … )
Cenk, while occasionally led astray or coming up short, can always be counted to have that core mission: to be a real force against the establishment. And that is a fine and reliable thing indeed.
Does anyone get the idea that somebody told Jimmy not to talk about WAPO and CIA ? lol, it seems like there’s more to it than just being mad about the story. It seems like he’s making a point to somebody that he’s gonna talk about it as long and as loud as he wants to.
And I really don’t see any reasons why Jimmy shouldn’t (quite the contrary). Cenk always takes out plenty of time to tell us about MSM smears and attacks on himself and on TYT.
I’m so glad that he did, I had no idea. I knew they were slanted against Bernie during the primaries – but then again what mainstream media outlet wasn’t?
Jimmy needs a vacation, and a hug. lol, still great show though !
Did you guys really have to cut Malcom off mid-thought? Come on guys, you can be better than that. The crew might have to stay 30 seconds later to let him finish, this isn’t cable news people, its an internet show, you can go overtime by a couple minutes to finish the discussion.
Goddamn it I’m so fucking sick of the MSM using biased and negative phrasing. It used to be predominantly FOX News doing it, and I’ve never been a fan of the Washington Post but they do it and now all the “credible” print media do it all the cuntfucking time. Its especially egregious when reporting on a case that is before a court. It is an absolute no-no and goes against all semblance of journalistic ethics to make a judgement about a case that is currently before a judge, yet shit-stain hack Dave Weigel apparently knows more about the DNC lawsuit than the judge seeing the case by claiming that it is frivolous. That is not reporting, and goes beyond a journalist making his passing his opinion off as fact. If the lawsuit was frivolous it would have been thrown out, so its completely factually inaccurate to report it as such. This is the worst kind of journalism, the kind one should only expect to see on juvenile amateur blogs like Breitbart and The Blaze. Weigel should be fired for that kind of blatant disregard for the rules of his craft and for betraying the public trust so outrageously. What a sack full of camel shit.
> This is the worst kind of journalism, the kind one should only expect to see on juvenile amateur blogs like Breitbart and The Blaze.
There has never been much to separate those two categories. The latter have more Alt-Right rhetoric and a less varied set of corporate sponsors, sure…but that’s where the most substantial differences end.
For the love of fuck, someone please link me that clip with Cenk yelling at Michael back in 2006.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hiRC5ZDTXk
I like the idea of non violent protest. I am with the philosophy of Ghandi and MLKJr. I am wonder why everytime someone on this show mentioned the protest. They had to stress that it was non violent. It is like folks are getting extra credit for being non violent. It is only wise to be nonviolent in atmosphere of occupation.
Keep calling truth to power and questionable media Jimmy. And the tactics and techniques here are by no means unilateral for the WaPo, NYT, etc. – still good journalists and good articles coming out of there too. Multi-headed entities. Advanced linguistics, framing and techniques, just like we saw with certain MSM re: Syria in early April.
Can we borrow the CIA venture capital arm Q-Tel to clone you and help get the word out?
I love AP but Graham Elwood is slowly turning this into a type of infowars.
He’s been at infowars level from the get-go. He’s truly terrible.
I disagree, I’ve been following Graham’s channel. It’s my opinion that he’s a thoughtful guy with a lot of talent. He’s also putting a lot of work into it. I don’t think he’s quite hit his stride yet, but every time I take a look it gets better. I have high hopes for Mr. Elwood.
I got rid of my NYTimes subscription and joined TYT .
welcome home!
Don’t take this the wrong way, but I get nauseous just thinking about the idea of NY Times subscription. What a pack of shit.
I’ve seen every AP ep. and this one was probably the first I didn’t like . First 60min basically same story over and over again. But I’m cool with AP in general, and i’m also big JD fan. Just go through more stories like u usually do. I also like Steve in show, and there tend to be more structure in show when he’s on. Also 90min expanded show is great ’cause they were always in hurry at the end of 1h shows.
Call em out guys! I got rid of my subscription for the Washing Post and The Wall Street Journal earlier this year — it’s all trash. Thank you for this show Jimmy – you were channeling Carlin — loved it!
Miss you Steve.
If WaPo is publishing “fake news” every day, why go back to 2003 to find something that is demonstrably false? I follow many news sources because that’s what a critical reader does. I expect the Young Turks to provide another perspective, or touch on news the mainstream press is ignoring. Simply spending an hour, criticizing the mainstream press is just whining, and patronizing.
Please calm down and provide useful information. I can’t win someone over by screaming that the press is printing nothing but fake news; I need a narrative.
He provided two examples from earlier this year, one was about Russia hacking the electric grid, that should be a good one to win arguments.
WaPo did print a retraction on the grid hacking article, but I’m not here to defend WaPo. When people resort to name calling and hyperbole, my attention span gets really short. I’m not going to listen for an hour to find out if there is actually a point. We all know the mainstream press is owned by large corporations, and that they serve their corporate masters. That isn’t news.
My time is precious. I’m not wasting it, listening to Jimmy rant about “shit stains” and “fake news”, because his feelings were hurt.
The last 30 minutes had actual news. A true progressive would have put that first.
The fact that WaPo is writing slanted articles about and/or mentioning Jimmy is a good thing; it means he’s getting traction. The reporting about it on the show was way too long, however, and sounded just aggressive (a tad whiny?), rather than aggressively progressive. Maybe 15 minutes at most was all it warranted. I get that Jimmy feels personally attacked and that his views were misstated in the article but if one reacts that way every time it happens, credibility is lost. Perhaps more of Jimmy’s biting humor would have helped?
Thank you Malcolm for bringing us the story of Sumud; these people are inspiring and I will be donating to them. Your mom’s a badass! I’m about her age and I’m so proud of her (and of you!) – 70 is the new 50, people! I’m sure you are proud of each other, as you should be; I’m impressed!
Love it when stories are brought to us that we would not otherwise be aware of. Malcolm I appreciate your thoughtfulness and insightful questions and comments.
Thanks again for AP!
“The reporting about it on the show was way too long, however, and sounded just aggressive (a tad whiny?), rather than aggressively progressive. Maybe 15 minutes at most was all it warranted. ” Totally agree with you there. I was really looking forward to this weeks’ episode since there was so much going on in the past week, especially in Trump land, but Jimmy took this personally. You’re right too that he should be proud they’re doing hatchet jobs against him, (makes me proud of this show!) but then he should have moved on.
I miss angry aggressive progressiive Cenk. I think he’s met too many people in the establishment and became friends with them that it’s calmed him. That or maybe having kids? :P
theres a Joe Rogan and Alex jones podcast. when Joe sits down Alex jones and makes him slow down and word for word explain his rants Alex Jones is 95% Jimmy Dore. I don’t know much about Jones except what I heard on that podcast and It reminded so much of this show. Imagine what we could accomplish if both sides united.
Super-fantastic – Jimmy is on FIRE and he turns it up to “11” (loud as hell) right from the start. LOVE-IT!
I’ve seen that video on Cenk’s rage against how the Corporate Media FAILS US, how they keep TRICKING us, and how they beat the drums for WAR (which a majority of us don’t want, unless we are really going to be unsafe and attacked and then it is time to defend ourselves). BTW, I love seeing it again and again!
I, 110% agree with Cenk’s righteously angry point. The Charlatan Media for Decades has gradually COAXED ‘too many of us’ that it is mostly on ‘our side’ and that it works hard digging up the truth; so we can make an informed decision and so we don’t have to do the hard investigative digging ourselves, while we struggle to work, raise our kids with our time & talents & tears, sweat to make tough decisions, and pay for ever increasing yet necessary bills & expenses with our flat-lined wages from our less-than-desirable-jobs.
Great show, thx guys. Malcolm needs his own show World news!
Hey Jimmy, remember, unless you are Brownie, there is a big difference between chewing and swallowing :-)
Alright, Jimmy, we got it that you are angry about Dave Weigel smearing you. Next week something new, please, that has been the second show (Aggressive Progressives and Old School) this week about it, not to mention the segments you did on your own show about it. Move on, please.
I agree. It was boring and whiny. Thank goodness for FF on media players.
> Alright, Jimmy, we got it that you are angry about Dave Weigel smearing you.
But he’s never been smeared by the Washington Post before, so it’s good and original material in that sense. Also, Cenk has been smeared by the MSM countless times already but he continues to make time to tell us about it when it occurs (as he should). :)
Yeah, but not for about three straight hours lathered over three different shows. Seemed a bit excessive to me.
I agree too. Jimmy, you gotta let this go in my opinion. Is Steve Oh avoiding the show? I think the two of you are the best hosts of AP. Peace out.
I am going to piss off some people and try to bring action to activism. They are in a cave in Palestine and don’t have electricity. The Israeli soldiers confiscate the generators. By using Solar PV and wind energy is a democratization of energy. I was trying to help establish factories in Kosovo, but they have a shitty electrical grid. Just like in South America, Africa, the Middle East since the USA and KSA are bombing the shit out of everything. When are people going to say stop to weapons manufacturing and start Jill Stein’s WWII style Green Revolution? I had a conversation with a politician in a small Podunk town in Switzerland and he wanted to cut off the conversation when I bought up the weapons deal between KSA and the USA. I mean he said Goodbye as soon as I said it. I asked him if I touched a sore subject! Getting back to getting solar PV out to people, I don’t know the best way. I am going to write to Noam Chomsky and Jean Ziegler since they might have some ideas. I am opening this up to jag-off comedians and progressive hacks to ask them for ideas. I can’t wait for Steve OH to get back from his Norwegian trip.
Oh, by the way, Palestine is a great selling point for Israeli weapons manufacturers. Police states all over the world buy these weapons since they have been tested on the largest open-air testing ground for crowd control.
Hey Larry. I was also in Kosovo for nearly half a decade (2008-2014) so giving you a shout out! I can attest to the catastrophe that is their energy grid. If they ever get off of the dirty coal plants built during Tito’s time then the rural areas of that country are literally going to continue living in the dark ages. The amount of air pollution there is unbelievable, and it’s a shame they don’t have access or the knowledge to bring in clean energy. Whether it’s age old tensions between Albanians and Serbian (more likely with the Greeks, or impoverished Roma), or Palestinians and Israeli Jews, these living conditions and lack of basic needs, like energy, deserve more visibility.
I wrote to Jean Ziegler and asked him for his help about getting Solar PV to people in the world. He was just on Swiss television with the head of Nestlé, who bit off a babies head and sucked out the blood and the presenter asked Ziegler why he took offense. Just kidding. But he was very low key since you cannot criticize any Swiss company on TV, they are above criticism. I hate the fact that they have helped put the world’s water supply in plastic bottles, as well as most of the coffee. I often see that the first thing with refugees is that they put a bottle of water in their hands. They also aren’t helping with the Flint water crisis since they can’t afford to do much since they have to pay $400/year for their water rights to sell the citizens of America bottled water at $1 a bottle? Or is it more?
Jimmy ditched the stoned/drunk look tonight
Fantastic Show! Thanks for doing what you do.
Great piece on occupied territories. We need the Internet free to tell these sstories cause they certainly won’t be on TV!
hear https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chris+hedges+robert+sheer
good, nonhistorical foot print Jesus, my comments are out of wak….
They’re getting scared of you and tyt which is why they’re targeting you. Just like in Chicago, i don’t trust a politician that wasn’t gerrymandered against, i don’t trust a comedian that isn’t smeared.
fake -!-
Jimmy, If I wanted to find out how bad WP was I would go and read WP. I think you have taught us enough that we can detect their bullshit too. I am here to get some real news. Can we get to that please.
right on, I was there screaming at Michael Shore when that happened (can’t stand him!!). this is where I stand…..
What a waste of time. This episode was embarrassing for both Jimmy and TYT in general. The first 60 minutes is nothing but nonsensically ranting from Jimmy because the Washington Post called him out on his bullshit perpetuation of right wing exploitation of Seth Rich’s murder to distract from everything else going on with Trump. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/05/20/the-seth-rich-conspiracy-shows-how-fake-news-still-works/
Graham Elwood is a waste of space who contributes nothing, and encourages Jimmy to continue down bullshit conspiracy rabbit holes with zero evidence for anything. I cringe every time I see him on the show because I know he’s going to encourage the worst instincts of Jimmy, and monopolize the limited time the show has with crazy conspiracy bullshit. Please stop having him on AP.
that’s fake -!-
for some reason I care….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9XskL0iSpA…
I like Jimmy. I liked Jimmy 20 years ago. But I totally agree. This was terrible and patronizing to the audience.
Maybe Malcolm should be the lead host for AP. He picks much more interesting stories to share.
watch live the day of. . . if you miss it wait a day. no big deal.
I already washed my dishes, but I will still enjoy listening
Been refreshing this page all day!
Thank you for uploading it
Finally it arrives! ?
why did this show post the day after?! Please post the day of.
I agree that would be ideal.
Agreed.
This took far too long to upload….bitch/bitch/whine!
Plus I agree that AP has to be careful not to become a big whinefest JD.
This show works when you have a variety of panelists who all have a fair amount of screentime….poor old Malcolm for example was a real passenger last week while Grant & Jimmy bounced shit off each other constantly….it became tedious….and I’m a MASSIVE JD fan.
For example, the best show I’ve seen this year was the recent one with Nomi etc…..a number of ppl discussing news and issues rather than 2 guys yelling shit at each other in a bar.
/endrant
Keep up the standards JD or you will not only run the risk of losing your audience, you will not gain fresh blood.
