In Post Game - On Demand by Gigi Manukyan59 Comments

A solo Dave Koller for today’s pre-recorded Post Game. Dave critiques Cenk on French politics. He also reads his favorite cheery newspaper obituaries and shares his excitement for a new obituary documentary. And it wouldn’t be a Dave Koller Post Game without some Latin American news.

  1. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it. I love Dave whenever he is on anything. The PG’s can be short, o when he was on the RNC and also the tyt/go hours he did, esp. the one with Gigi talking about non-profits….so fucking good!!

Did I mention that I like Dave and he’s the best, plus he is just the type of person that makes me feel at ease and relaxed.

    1. I truly believe this is part of why TYT as a company works. Dave being free to criticize Cenk as the boss is a good balance. Cenk’s a big-boy he can take some constructive criticism and it is constructive, with-out a doubt.

I think someone could make the argument that Dave critics Cenk and importantly how TYT responds to members esp. But there is not way that an argument can be made that it comes from anything but wanting TYT to be better and be more reactive to paying members, in content etc. Dave is great for that.

  2. Good show Dave… some interesting stories we wouldn’t otherwise probably have heard about… thankyou

  3. Dave,
I always enjoy your commentary and thank you for covering my home state. Your breakdown of the grocery tax is on point. The repeal is the right thing to do because it’s a regressive tax.

The thought process behind the repeal is wrong though. They want to cut the tax and not replace it with anything. This insanity does not make sense at all. They didn’t have the funds to plow the roads all winter, and they still want to cancel all taxes.

I love Idaho, but the politicians here mainly can go F’ themselves.

  4. Great show, Dave! Don’t tell Steve and Malcolm this, but you are my favorite. I agree that on many shows you do not talk enough (or rather, the others talk too much) so it is a pleasure to enjoy your uninterrupted wit and wry humor for nearly an hour. Thanks!

That said… I understand that you read ZEN AND THE ART OF MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE a very long time ago but… no excuse for summarizing it as “just have fun with your life.” NO. That statement makes me wonder if you really did read the book (or what were you smoking at the time). It is a famously difficult book to read — it has been observed that anyone who says they read it straight through, the first time they tried, is almost certainly lying. I tried the first time when I was a teen and got maybe 100 pages in before it overwhelmed me. Tried again a few years later, got maybe 200 pages in. Etc. Took about five tries before I made it cover to cover.

As the saying goes, “When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear.” ZEN is like that — until you are ready, you won’t get through it.

ZEN is an exploration of the meaning of Quality. Hardly a day goes by without a lesson from that book coming to mind in my daily life.

All hail Robert Persig — author of one of the most unique pieces of literature ever written.

  5. A job guarantee may be better than a guaranteed income. There is dignity and self-esteem in work, and people do like to earn what they receive. You hear it from the rural areas of America all the time, they don’t want a handout, they want a decent job.

  6. I enjoyed the solo post game show. I mean I love everyone as well, but it is nice to just hear one different point of view!

  7. I think Dave does a great job when he’s solo on the post game. Also, I appreciated that Dave’s criticism of Cenk was fair. Since Dave loves to criticise Cenk its often absurd.

    1. Sustenance-sanctioned sheep-support-service sails slightly South sinking suspected Soviet-sponsored spy-ship, surprisingly, still ship-shape; sad.

  8. Now, I love all of TYT as it is and everyone in it, but I look forward to the day when Dave’s cult following becomes the majority of TYT viewers, he takes power, phases out all other on-air hosts, and the average TYT fan earnestly says “Cenk? Who’s Cenk?” However, continued mistakes like showing Steve Oh’s info banner when looking at Dave should still happen.

  9. There should be an alternate post game every night that’s just Dave commenting on what Cenk (or anyone else) said in the main show. Don’t get me wrong – I love Cenk and I think he’s brilliant, but Dave’s profound wisdom is on another level. Confining his quintessential expertise to the Friday post game is a disservice to humanity.

  10. from the Guardian:
“French voters must choose between the lesser of two evils: Macron or Le Pen

“Between two evils, which one should the left choose? The answer seems deceivingly straightforward… But Macron’s arrogance and incompetence are not helpful. On Tuesday, he went on television to request no less than a “vote of adhesion” against Le Pen.

“Despite being the candidate of the political and economic establishment, the former banker is not surfing a wave of popular support… The truth is that the former economy minister has no solid constituency backing him, and no real popularity.

“Le Pen has exploited Macron’s awkwardness by pointing out that her opponent is out of touch with ordinary people and lives in a bubble. Her strategy is clear: she will portray him as the puppet of financial markets, the European commission and “globalised and cosmopolitan elites”. By contrast, she will present herself as the defender of workers, of the national interest, and the true patriot.”

    ( ( ( What could possibly go wrong? ) ) )

    1. > “Despite being the candidate of the political and economic establishment, the former banker is not surfing a wave of popular support”

Shouldn’t that have said “because he is the candidate of the establishment, he’s not surfing a wave of popular support”? The article demonstrates a stunning misunderstanding of populist tendencies in politics, as many Guardian articles do (hey, they actively stumped for HRC). The rest of the points are all right, don’t get me wrong, and the analogy with the US presidential election is very apt (I agree with you) but it goes to show that one should approach Guardian articles with extreme scepticism.

  11. The fact their navy consists of outdated ships that are defunct enough to be literally destroyed by Sheep is what makes Russia a joke.

Also, I would not go into Space on a russian program, even if thats the only thing they do right. It is Russia.

    Did you see the olympics?

The country is just one empty shell, puffed up to seel powerful but easily popped.

I would honestly NOT be surprided if during a nuclear war, their missiles didnt fire & only the U.S. nukes went off when both sides hit the button.

I take it back. Some of the Russian missiles woulf likely fly successfully. Then explode before reaching their target; likely nuking themselves in the process.

While I jest, I do so with some truth. They seem legitimately phoney in soooooo many areas.

Russia is talented though. As Sun Tzu teaches, they have nothing but appear as if they have everything. They look like they are a world power, but I bet it takes everything they have placed out front to pretend like it is so.

    1. > I would honestly NOT be surprided if during a nuclear war, their missiles didnt fire & only the U.S. nukes went off when both sides hit the button.

That is actually an extremely likely scenario, although a great number of US nukes would not successfully launch either.

      > Russia is talented though. As Sun Tzu teaches, they have nothing but appear as if they have everything. They look like they are a world power, but I bet it takes everything they have placed out front to pretend like it is so.

They used to be a real world power. That was not for show. The Soviet economy even grew faster than the US economy in the 1950’s (that’s totally true). But their model contained serious flaws that were never addressed, the totalitarianism and the internal corruption took their toll, and the arms race put a strain on them that made all of the aforementioned unsustainable. Then, after the 1989 implosion, crony capitalism, neoliberalization, oligarchs and continued authoritarianism finished them off completely. They have all served to turn Russia into exactly the empty shell that you describe. Not remotely scary but a useful tool for others’ scaremongering.

  12. Lol @ ” their ships sink when they hit a lot of sheep” … BWHAHHAHAAH LOL!
I love your work Dave! Thanks a bunch for a great Friday post game

  13. Love it! Nowadays I never know if I’ll be able to watch my beloved Friday post-game or not, most times I unfortunately have to skip it. Was so glad to see click and see Daves name!!!

  14. I love the stories Dave picks, but you really need a better flowing commentary. Pull in Irma or someone to give their take on it.
Also, I agree Steve got a little too much of a big head with the comments. He’s honestly better as a balancer to Dore or Cenk, not as good when he’s the main focus.
I still don’t get how no one on TYT has compared the French election to the American one. They give you a right wing nut job on one side so you have to take the ‘rational’ center right wing globalist instead.

  15. Thanks Dave! Great show! Yes, next time please have some booze because I would love another 20 minutes of the show! I always enjoy hearing your thoughtful comments.

  16. So does this mean we should be recruiting Whales and New Zealand to help take out the rest of the Russian Navy??
Great show! Please give yourself more credit, you are a great host and commentator too.

    1. As far as post game in general – very nice. But I still like the game show format with Steve & Malcolm. Information always rules.

  17. If Russian technology was so shitty why do they have the only effective manned space program left in the world? The manned space program that NASA depends on right now to reach the ISS.

The story is a bit more complex than what it seems to look like and indeed the fact that this was a 47 year old ship is an essential part of it.

  18. Dave, you think it’s Steve “getting involved in the comments section” and “giving a care” but I hate to inform you: this is his midlife crisis. Did you see his eyes when he was reading the comments where (alleged) women were stroking his salami with their tossed word salads in the PG comment section? The delight and desperation was oozing. Oozing. Not saying it’s bad, vanity is underrated. You do you Steve but dear god don’t read them on air anymore pls pls pls

  19. YESSS! DAVE SOLOOOOO!!!

    Great postgame.

I LOVE Dave cutting out the extra blabbering. “We don’t need the long list.” (paraphrase) Thank you!

I really like hearing these news stories. The Russia sheep one deserves Hour 1 coverage. Jimmy could use that on AP too; such good ammo. Fantastic cold war correlation Dave.

  20. For me, oddly entertaining. Hadn’t seen all that much of Dave before. I’m digging on his offbeat topics and humor. I never thought I’d be the least bit interested in obituaries, but here it is. Very enjoyable, in its way, and a likeable guy. Not a polished performer on camera, and that’s what I love about it!
    More Dave, please.

  21. Idaho’s Gov., Butch Otter, is a racist idiot, and of course the legislature knows that…..everyone knows it. So now people who are the underdogs struggling along on pitiful minimum wage cannot buy groceries for their families…..except the Mormon families who can rely on their food closet.

  22. Yay Dave. Loved the hatchet job on Le Pen. My comment is this…..the idea is to get us (audience) to get catty-chatty witch ya dudes or when it’s solo dude.

  23. No one on TYT is as knowledgeable of the world at large as Dave is, even though Malcom comes close and tries really hard. Great job, Dave. Love the coverage of South American issues. South America seems to get less exposure than anywhere else in the mainstream media.

  24. The Ontario government just announced a 3 years pilot project for basic income. It will include 4000 households, single people, couples, families and people with disabilities will be included in 3 regions of Ontario. I will be very interested in reading the conclusions when they are available. I think that giving people the means to live a decent life will always be the best way to reduce many of societies issues. And not having to worry on a daily basis about how you are going to feed your kids or yourself is a big step towards that.

And keep up the good work with the Friday post games shows, I always enjoy them. I would actually love if they were posted a bit earlier but they are worth the wait!

  25. Dave cracks me up man. Wish I could have been around when he was on the Main Show all the time. He cuts through the crap real quick. I’m glad to see TYT isn’t full of yes-men.

  26. Dave is the only TYT personality I love, but can’t artuculate why. Probably just the lack of exposure.

And as far as Venezuela goes I’ve been trying to research as much as I can, but there’s so little coverage from the media. I don’t know why the US has been so silent on an escalating humanitarian crisis for a country so close, especially considering it’s huge oil reserves, but it can’t be good.

I’m sure I’m oversimplifying the issue, but it seems to me if the US played it’s cards right Venezuela could be the key to getting some goddamn leverage over the Saudis so we don’t have to keep being their fucking errand boy in the middle east.

  27. Thumbs up Dave!! And Malcolm and Steve usually too. Will be catching more Friday posts games. I love Malcolm’s have a shitty birthdays but usually Steve and jimmy never have enough time on AP. And now obituary Fridays. I’m in.

  28. Thanks Dave I appreciate your work, i think you should be able to have a drink on all ‘friday’ postgames.

Really enjoy the Cenk tweaking, I like him so much I am not critical of him. I see your points.

Also really enjoyed Ben on todays show, thanks for making time in your schedule.

  29. Hey you did great i really enjoyed the show. i miss your cohorts and the fun games. Been considering giving up my membership because it’s hard for me to listen to TYT daily for reasons i won’t get into here, but anyway, thanks.

  30. I fucking love Dave! His stories are like an episode of Better Call Saul, slow as shit and can seem kinda pointless but the end result leaves you wanting more. Also bring back All-Star Tuesdays we need more of him and the guys from tyt sports.
