Cenk. Sean Hannity sexual harassment allegations. When Merkel & Trump met. French election. Trump polls. Feinstein Town Hall. Flint Town Hall arrests. Trump’s Wikileaks hypocrisy. Trump on NATO.
Regarding ImplyK8’s comment. I felt inclined to state my objection to ur assertion that a church, has intrinsic properties capable of triggering a specific behavior in a sizable crowd irrespective of actual circumstances of the given scenario. Religious facilities or not in lieu of prior associations for this specific crowd in this specific building I seriously doubt that a crowd that’s gathered to deal with the existential matter that is their drinking water, while at the same time maintaining a rather relaxed composure with the presence of mind to absorb the surroundings and in total concert manifesting the behavior u stated. Not everyone has the same connection to that specific church and not everyone is religious and being America there’s most likely numerous denominations just amongst the actual practicing christians all with their unique contextual associations to any given religious building and I’m quite certain that the jews and muslims are unlikely to experience this specific church in the same manner any affiliated individuals would. Do u see my point and if so do u agree or disagree? I would speculate that ur assumption is due to a somewhat biased point of view with all the subjective experiences and associations inherent to ur own unique situation, thus leading u to what I claim is an inaccurate conclusion in this case.
I love TYT despite its flaws. That said… There are flaws.
One is Cenk’s tendency to make news stories fit into his personal ax-grinding preferences, no matter how hard the stretch. Case in point the French elections, where he calls Macron a “left wing populist,” solely to prove that Cenk Is Always Right, and Cenk says that The People reject The Establishment And Want Populism, blah blah blah.
Macron is a former banker (Rothschild & Cie Banque) who would be the equivalent of a neoliberal Blue Dog Democrat, or Republican-Lite. He is solidly in the middle politically, which means to say he plays it safe politically while always being on the side of the corporatocracy. His policies are in keeping with establishment conservatives. The two US politicians he is most similar to are Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, if either Clinton or Obama had worked at Goldman Sachs before running for office.
Cenk’s determination to make this story fit his people-reject-establishment narrative does a dis-service to the the actual facts. Not the first time.
Love ya, Cenk. But really do wish there was better research and fact-checking at TYT.
Macron (if he ran in the US) is to the left of Sanders and that is saying a lot.
In terms of French politics he is indeed in the dead center as Obama was.
As for his job in banking, it means nothing. France’s banking sector is different than that of the US (for example they never had a Glass-Steagall act) and financing of French elections is totally different. Plus French banking regulation are an EU matter and the national parliament has little say in it.
Furthermore, France did not have a financial crisis, it has a current account crisis (that was further amplified by structural imbalances due to de-industrialization and the largest rural population in an OECD country) that is primarily a result of the Euro being its currency.
Oh and by the way Macron was a government minister until the end of last year and was a registered socialist. He left because the socialists went extreme left and had no chance in the next elections.
He is the essence of the French establishment masquerading as an independent.
So are you saying people love the establishment and hate populism? It’s kinda the reason Obama won in 2008 and why Sanders is the most popular active U.S politician.
About the polls, either Cenk is new to politics or is deliberately not telling the whole story. I vote the second because his hatred to the democratic establishment is blinding him to the facts. A few points need to be clarified (this was a WaPo/ABC poll which Cenk did not mention):
1. Republicans vote in one block en masse to the guy who has an R in front of his name. Even when Bush’s popularity was in the 20s nearly 80% of all republicans would have voted for him anyway. That is reality. 94% of all registered republicans voted for Trump , that was higher than the share which voted for Romney. As I and many others said before Trump by virtue of being on the ticket guaranteed 45% of the vote immediately because 45% of the country is bat shit crazy and will never for a democrat or a progressive ever.
If you think you could win them over you and all progressives are on some mighty weed.
Party elasticity is a thing of the past.
2. Republican views on Trump are no where near as close as the Dems views on Obama. His competency barely scores above 85% and it is often in the 60s and in one case in the 40s among the republicans. Yes republicans will vote for him because the republicans are just that, republicans, vote in one mass to one candidate because they recognize the fact that you play the hand that was dealt to you.
3. The question about “which party is more out of touch” is not representative nor does it agree with other more exhaustive polls on party positions and performance. It only asked half the sample (500 people) and on that alone it should be disqualified.
Finally, there were nearly 100 special elections since the presidential elections across the country and the result is indisputable, there is a 5% shift towards the Dems across the board and the redder the district the larger the shift. Republican castles like Omaha are about to fall precisely because Dems decided to compromise and nominate people who they would have never nominated before, pro-life, low tax, low regulations people and they are winning. Bernie understands this and this is why he is behind those people and so should progressives be.
If Progressives insist on making the Corbyn mistake in the UK they will end up not only out of government but out of the decision making altogether. UK conservatives are polling at 50% right now, never before did a party polled this well in the UK.
They can charge them with whatever they want, all these charges will be dropped in court if they fight it, Unless they have a crooked judge which I highly doubt.
The only reason Trump considers ‘heart’ to be necessary in government is not because human lives are involved in his decisions, but because his decisions affect his poll numbers and thus his re-electability. Trump still only cares about Trump. If he drop a nuclear bomb for no reason and get away with it, he would.
No hope left on the people. If the democrats are less popular than republicans. I mean republicans don’t believe in science, want to take away the little healthcare we have. Anti choice, rasit party. I am so over people!
If Diane DINO-Stein intends to stay in office another term, can we please, please primary her? She no longer answers her phone, at least not from her DC office and does NOT represent me (yes I’m a California Dem and hate her corporate fat ass) and BTW, it doesn’t help when certain progressive talk hosts that broadcast at 12 EDT on weekdays keep saying: “I’m encouraged by how the Democratic party is moving in a progressive direction” really? When the DCC gives money to crappy centrist dems over true progressives and would rather lose to a fascist republican pig rather then a progressive, that’s an outrage. Get rid of all these moderate republicans that infest the Democratic Party. That’s what they are !
PS go Fuck Yourselves Pigs
I am used to TYT being sub-par on international issues, but the take on the french elections really made me think if there is any research involved when you guys prepare a segment like that. No word about the real french Bernie Sanders, Mellenchon, but also painting Macron as a center-left populist? jesus…
It’s not an admission of failure if you don’t report on things because you have no clue on whats going on.
The reporting on Venezuela, France, Brexit etc. was really disappointing and flat out wrong.
It is not enough to google some mainstream media articles for 3 minutes and expect to have an informed opinion on things that have global reach.
disappointed.
The election of Trump might have been the best thing to happen to Europe, at least when it comes to stopping right wing populism. Most of the right wing populist parties in Europe have basically no plan on how to actually govern and have little left once you take away the fear mongering. My best guess is that a lot o f Europeans saw how the US is doing under a right wing populists with no idea how to actually govern and make policy.
It can never be stressed enough how much of a childish lout Trump is.
Some people previously thought that Trump winning would be great for energizing the opposition to secure an even larger victory later on, but with this gold leaf yokel at the helm, we may not even make it that far.
The very first thing I thought when I started seeing both the Feinstein and Flint town hall videos popping this weekend was “Uhmm, why is this being held in a church? Shouldn’t this be in a high school gym or auditorium?” Only took a second to realize it was a pacification/intimidation attempt; not much triggers our conditioning to behave, be quiet and listen reverently like a big ‘ol church. And any sort of “inappropriate” action automatically becomes 1000 times worse and less sympathetic to the Just-The-Headline crowd when “…in a church!” becomes a focus of the narrative.
Remember when churches were a safe haven for black political protest planning? Remember how that cemented Christian Churches as a cornerstone of political speech against oppressors?
Now you have this Uncle Tom ass mother fucker bearing false witness as a cop, in a church, with trumped up charges, as he impedes people’s first amendment rights by using a church.
I’m scared to see how this could be any more stupid and hypocritical. He might as well be arresting them with American Flag handcuffs, and driving away in a car with a North Virginia Battle Flag, waving in the breeze.
I felt inclined to state my objection to ur assertion that a church, has intrinsic properties capable of triggering a specific behavior in a sizable crowd irrespective of actual circumstances of the given scenario. I would speculate that ur assumption is due to a somewhat biased point of view with all the subjective experiences and associations inherent to ur own unique situation, thus leading u to what I claim is an inaccurate conclusion in this case.
Im getting realy bored of cenk caling trump a dumb child every. Sorta like how I cant stand watch democrats talk about Russia all the time. Please have one show thats not the exact thing! This is why I maily watch aggressive progressives b/c jimmy refuses to talk about trump and instead focus on actual progressive topics. Not a trump fan just want you guys to fresh up the show.
These poor people from Flint need lawyers and they need good ones. I am willing to donate some money to that cause. Jordan, please contact them, I am sure more people would donate. Let’s do something about it. This is insane.
It would be truly sad if Assange actually thought that a Trump presidency would help his case… Maybe he should release more of Trump’s tax returns that make him look good… huh rachel mccarthy maddow?? (I’m know, I’m rambling)
Fair breakdown of the hannity situation. fuck him and fox. but he was a big league player there for years. Im sure he’s seen some things in the fox culture.
He seems like a wuss though. So he either looked the other way, or awkwardly made a pass at his protege fox news style, LIke o rielly or ailes pulled him aside at a fox frat party and told him to try “that line”
All 4 times in US history where the popular vote was different than an electoral college vote the electoral college elected a republican while the dem won the popular vote.
This is what happened in 1876 with the electoral vote going to Rutherford B. Hayes:
After a first count of votes, Tilden won 184 electoral votes to Hayes’ 165, with 20 votes unresolved. These 20 electoral votes were in dispute in four states: in the case of Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina, each party reported its candidate had won the state, while in Oregon one elector was declared illegal (as an “elected or appointed official”) and replaced. The question of who should have been awarded these electoral votes is at the heart of the ongoing debate about the election of 1876.
An informal deal was struck to resolve the dispute: the Compromise of 1877, which awarded all 20 electoral votes to Hayes. In return for the Democrats’ acquiescence in Hayes’ election, the Republicans agreed to withdraw federal troops from the South, ending Reconstruction. The Compromise effectively ceded power in the Southern states to the Democratic Redeemers, who went on to pursue their agenda of returning the South to a political economy resembling that of its pre-war condition, including the disenfranchisement of black voters.[13][14]
Simplistic and effectively false analysis of Brexit. Completely wrong on Macron. Please TYT do 5 minutes of research on European politics before you comment on it

Are all the dudes on Faux News sleazy horn-dogs?
How long before the station switches to all female on-air talent?
Faux news will switch to all female talent the very moment 1950’s soft-core porn becomes permissible to broadcast by law, and not a moment before.

Not big deal guys.. Just enjoy the show!!
Waiting till 10pm for the first hour to be uploaded is getting so damn old.
Yeah i agree.
Being on the Westcoast, getting it at 7p.m. isn’t too bad, but I understand the frustration.
For sure.
