  1. There were 4 groups of people in Berkeley. Rando residents, protesters, violent White supremacist extremists from varying groups, and violent leftist extremists from varying groups. Seriously, if you’re going to a protest, pay attention to what Black Bloc/Antifa and all the White supremacist groups are doing because they might decide to make your protest into their battleground. They really do see themselves as warriors on a battlefield. People have already been shot and things will only get worse. Stay safe y’all.

  2. #TYTarmy. It’s obvious that there are right wing wakos who are helping the salary of TYT, god bless them for that, but ignore their stupid posts against TYT. Or read them critically and understand their positions. You’ll learn that they are false and shamefully full of shit

  3. Steve Stephens (wanted murderer) was found dead from suicide after a police pursuit, according to Cleveland police.

  4. oo, I can smell the white fragility coming from Danny W. “Uh, can you please cover more black people killing white men” as if we need ANOTHER news source perpetrating that.

    1. Yeah, who needs facts? I’m just going to imagine he was wearing a MAGA hat while he did it, too. Because it makes me feel better.

  5. I am cancelling my membership today.

TYT is simply an unreliable and heavily biased mainstream news outlet. Their bias even leads them to misrepresent any story that doesn’t fit their progressive narrative. Today’s coverage of the Berkeley clashes is a perfect example. TYT tried to make it seem as though both sides were equally at fault for the violence, even though it was clearly Antifa who started assaulting people, even throwing m-80s into the free speech camp and pepper spraying people. Of course TYT didn’t show any of that because it doesn’t fit the narrative. Cenk seems to believe that progressives are so virtuous by nature that they would never resort to violence, so any time there is a story about left wingers assaulting people, TYT doesn’t cover it. Isn’t it interesting that the only video of the Berkeley protests that they showed was the one instance in which a right winger punched an Antifa girl? Btw. this girl was not an unsuspecting woman as Grace mentioned. Earlier she was interviewed by a reporter and asked if she condemned the throwing of fireworks into the opposing side after an old lady had been injured. Her response was “The revolution isn’t fucking easy”. Before that she had posted on Facebook that she was determined to get 100 Nazi scalps at the protest, so this person clearly went to the protest seeking violence.
What really went down at Berkeley was that Antifa wanted to prevent other people from using their right to free speech and attacked the free speech supporters (who were not exclusively Trump supporters as TYT claimed), who then fought back and kicked their asses. All the while the police hardly intervened.

The second story in which TYT’s bias becomes apparent is the story of the Killer who livestreamed his crime on Facebook. Isn’t it interesting that when the criminal is black, TYT doesn’t mention is at all? They didn’t even say his name or show his face, despite the killer still being at large. Let’s just assume that the races had been reversed and a young white man had murdered an elderly black person and livestreamed the crime. How much do you want to bet that the coverage would have been different? First of all the title of the story would have been something like “Racist White Man Kills Innocent Black Person”. They probably would have also revealed the criminals identity and looked into his background in order to find out if he had any ties to a racist group.

These are just some recent examples that have made me decide not to waste any more money on TYT. It’s sad, I used to be a massive fan for years, but there just have been too many stories which TYT has misreported, either out of ignorance or on purpose in order to push their agenda. If you don’t believe me just check out any of the “Hard Bastard”‘s videos about TYT on Youtube.

In my opinion there is hardly any example of quality journalism on TYT anymore, except for some videos on the TYT politics channel. Btw. That’s another thing I have been wondering about. How come TYT hardly ever cites their own journalists in their stories? Despite having several investigative journalists, they still get all of their information from other news sources. Why don’t they have their own journalists investigate the stories they are going to cover and do some fact checking? Are they perhaps worried that people like Jordan Chariton and Michael Tracey will debunk the spin they want to give a certain story?

Anyway, it’s sad to see TYT lose their credibility in this way. Should they ever return to quality journalism and honest reporting, I am more than willing to sign up for membership again. I believe that there must be other members such as myself who are disappointed by The Young Turks. I am urging you to cancel your membership as well. Maybe if TYT starts losing their most loyal viewers, they will start to change.

    Until that time, Goodbye

    1. It would seem that you’re deeply preoccupied and concerned with individual acts of violence and how these acts are covered.

This is something that strikes me as unhealthy in society in general: the dual facts that 1) many people seem to watch the news mainly to see coverage of crime and individual violence (as opposed to reporting on politics, the economy, the issues, etc.), and 2) the media gives excessive amounts of coverage to crime and violence (mainly by the MSM but also, to a lesser extent, by indies like TYT.)

Some of these criticisms are legitimate. It goes without saying that TYT’s investigative reporting still has a huge amount of growing and maturing to do, which will take time. All but one of these reporters were hired – or associated with – only yesterday, so to speak.

Is that sufficient reason to cancel a membership? Hell no. Rarely in history has there been more demand, nor more urgent need, for progressive independent media. I for one will continue to work to expand the TYT army, as I have done from the beginning.

    2. Danny I largely agree with you. I’m not sure what was going on with the “not mentioning the name” of the guy in the Facebook murder story. This literally makes no sense to me. You’re a fucking news organization. Your job is to tell me all the facts I need about a story to get the full picture. If you’re delivering a story and I have to pause the video because I don’t have all the information I need, then you have failed at your job.

I think TYT is in desperate need of getting a centrist – or dare I say a conservative – on their panels during discussions. It’s beginning to sound very echo-chambery. It’s like everyone is trying to out-left each other. “Well I think even the bugs they stepped on should have a platform of free speech!”

I actually went to cancel my subscription yesterday, but found that it had just auto-renewed a few days ago. My major problem has been that there’s some obvious indication of bias, but also that they have been dedicating too much time to nonsense stories like leggings, jeans, and celebrity nude photos. Leave that shit to TMZ, because it’s not news worth hearing about.

      1. > I think TYT is in desperate need of getting a centrist

You don’t think that most hosts are centrists already? Nearly all of them all endorsed Hillary during the general election. And she was the Wall Street, establishment-backed candidate (Trump was establishment but he wasn’t backed by the rest of the establishment. Important distinction.)

        1. Backing Clinton vs Trump is a matter of intelligence and understanding consequentialism, and has nothing to do with being centrist, extreme left-wing, or anything in the middle.

          1. Sorry but that’s not how politics works. Never has, never will. What you call “intelligence and consequentialism” are just euphemisms and disguises for specific ideological positions.

Absolutely everyone says that their own ideological position is the “intelligent and consequential position”. In other words, it means absolutely nothing.

Hillary was the candidate of a slightly softened version of neoliberalism, militarism, and corruption; a particular version that was fully backed by the establishment. (Though, in the case of the corruption, it was softened at all).

            1. What I call consequentialism is consequentialism, which is an ideological position. I wish that you were right in claiming that everyone thinks of themselves as consequentialists, but unfortunately you are not.

You probably don’t know what consequentialism actually is, based on that claim. so let me clarify that: consequentialism is the belief that only the outcomes of a decision matter; an alternative is Deontology, which “focuses on the rightness or wrongness of actions themselves, as opposed to the rightness or wrongness of the consequences of those actions.” Consequentialism is correct (and everything else is not) as it follows from reductionism: the universe does not actually remember anything other than outcomes. This is a long debated question which actually has a really obvious and simple answer, but again it’s not universally accepted at all.

If people make arguments like “Hillary is bad, Trump is bad, I cannot justify voting for either one” like Steve Oh and (with a bit of nuance) Jimmy Dore have done, then they are making arguments which are not consequentialist (it sounds like Deontology to me) , and therefore aren’t correct. That is why those two didn’t vote for Trump but John did. I have heard very few (though, some) people arguing that voting for Stein over Hillary does actually result in net positive outcomes. So it clearly is about consequentialism more than anything else.

I don’t think everyone claims that he is making intelligent decisions at all, actually, but if it were true it wouldn’t really change anything about what I said. My claim was that the main thing which correlates to “did vote Hillary” among leftists is not how far left they are exactly (though there might be a small correlation there, too), but how smart they are. We don’t have studies, so I can’t prove this, but I’m pretty confident that it’s true.

              1. A correction to my claim: I’m talking about people who are left AND don’t actually like Hillary. Of course there are also people who think Hillary is great; they are excluded.

              2. Feel free to borrow from normative ethical theories as much as you want (yeah, admittedly, I had forgotten that you borrow so literally and directly). I for one think that such ethics are designed for individuals and their private lives, and that politics – The Affairs of the (City) State – are located more at the structural and collective levels; at the levels of groups, institutions, and the political economy. That ethics and deontology have little to contribute here.

In other words, I’ll stick to the political science I know, thanks.

  6. I do think Hassan has great potential to be a great contributor but he is still a little too green. I think he would be excellent for a younger audience, like young millinials. I love Grace cause I’m a big fan of Murder with Friends. I am a Jimmy Dore fanatic, but I would looooove to see more Steve Oh!!

  7. Very glad to see Grace without Hasan. I like Brett, I think he often comes up with good points that others don’t pick up on. Not done watching today’s though…

  8. Just an FYI for many products (non-consumer) the vendor or supplier requires till out an end user form in which they state who will be the end user of the product (so if AR state is the buyer, they would have to list AR Corrections as the end user in the form). Such forms often require the buyer to state what it will be used for. So its not quite the same as someone buying a consumer product, corporate/government purchases have more strings attached.

  9. I have great respect for both Grace and Brett, although I think Brett would prefer to produce not be a serious news anchor. Grace is amazing as, if you recall, English isn’t her native language and she probably reads it (especially live) less easily than she speaks yet each time I have watched her, without Hasan whom I feel doesn’t take the job seriously and can be a great distraction, she has done better and better.

  10. THE ANTIFA SCUM COMMIES WERE BEATen back! And we held the park and downtown victoriously!!! WHAT A DAY IT WAS! BASED STICK MAN PUT A BEATING ON A COUPLE COMMIE BASTARDS!

Agleast u guys are regressives. Buncha pussies!

    1. Did you just call Antifa, communists? In what plane of existence does being anti-fascist make them communists? On top of it all, do you really think brawling in the streets is a good way to get good attention on your side? It’s like cutting off your own arm to show how dangerous axes are. That makes no sense.

    2. Hey look, its our little friend Speedball, the frustrated 14-year-old virgin on his way to becoming a frustrated 40-year-old virgin. He pays $10/month to entertain us here in the comment section because he cannot afford the kind of membership that would gain him higher access.

He needs to ask his Mom and Dad to increase his allowance. (Have you tried promising to make your bed all by yourself every day for a month, without needing to be told…?)

  11. I’d rather have Brett than Hassan and I don’t think Brett is remotely funny but at least he can express himself without coming off like “frat bro”. Grace, I can take it or leave it. Not a fan at all of the people on “Pop Trigger”. So I’ll just have to suck it up and get through this second hour.
