  1. Guys please do some more research on the seal hunt. It’s our Native’s peoples right to hunt an eat seals.

  2. Nope. Before I was disabled I was a wildlife biologist, naturalist and environmentalist. Not an extremist just looking at it in a realistic way.

  3. Cruel Idiot leader who doesn’t know how to govern, church’s having their own police, we are a wedding and some dragons away from being in the song of ice and fire.

  4. There is a real lack of depth with some of the TYT commentators when it comes to international issues. Chechnya is a region within Russia, not a separate country that Russia influences. Getting these small details wrong hurts the credibility of the staff. I think Ana and John would do well with a simple one page cheat sheet with some basic facts on a country before they go on the air.

  5. Listening to the panel, I was surprised at how they are assuming that Assad was responsible for the attack – it’s as if they had forgotten all about how the rebels were proven to have used sarin to kill 1200 people in 2013….

And not only that, I had the impression that the panel was of the opinion that Trump “did not do enough” to punish Assad for this yet unproven crime … I kinda felt that they were upset that the strike had not done more damage…

    Madness.

    1. Yeah, even though Trump is in charge, you can already see them gradually falling back into “liberal-interventionist”, Clintonite mode, where they are easily swayed by the argument that human rights can be protected through aggression; by any call to war that is fronted with liberal-sounding intro music.

      It’s an ugly sight.

  6. Thank goodness for the AGGRESSIVE PROGRESSIVES — by far the best and most astute political commentary available on TYT

    1. Kudos on rewriting that, after the site’s maintenance accidentally caused two dozen comments to be erased. :)

(It’s no big deal that they’re gone, but I’m not writing those four comments a second time.)

  7. Okay tyt we need to get some facts going here on this issue of the seal Fishery. I am quoting all of this information from Newfoundland and Labradors from the Department of fisheries and land resources

Key Messages and Facts on Canada’s Sealing Industry
The Seal Harvest is Humane and Well-Managed
    1. Research on the sealing industry by
    independent veterinary experts has
concluded that seals are harvested in a
    humane manner.
    2. The seal harvest is closely monitored and
regulated by the Government of Canada.
    Fisheries officers conduct surveillance using
aircraft, boats, and inspections on wharves
    and in the plants.
    3. Seals are harvested humanely according to a
    strict three-step process, developed by
veterinarians. Sealers have been trained in
    this process.
    Anti-sealing Groups Present Misinformation
    4. Anti-sealing campaigns are filled with
misinformation on the industry harvest. They
display a lack of understanding about good
    ecosystem management, the industry’s
    economic importance, and the cultural
realities of the industry. For example, they
still show whitecoat seals in their distribution
materials. In fact, whitecoats haven’t been
    harvested in decades.
Seal Population is Healthy and Growing
    5. The seal population is very healthy and
growing. It is not in danger of extinction.
The harp seal population has increased
dramatically in the last two decades.
Scientists estimate it to be approximately
eight million animals. Based on this
population size, the Canadian sealing industry
    is sustainable and very conservation-minded.
    6. Scientists, such as those who worked with the
    Fisheries Resource Conservation Council of
Canada, have stated that the seal population
has been a major contributor to the lack of
recovery of groundfish stocks. Harp seals
alone consume more than 12 million tonnes
of fish, equivalent to more than 10 percent of
    the world’s wild harvest.
    7. Seals are a significant source of income for
thousands of families in coastal communities in
eastern and northern Canada. For example,
sealers have stated that their income from sealing
can represent from 25-35 percent of their total
    income.
    8. While it varies from year to year, the sealing
industry has been worth over $55 million per year
to the Newfoundland and Labrador economy.
    9. Seal oil is a new commercial product. Rich in
Omega-3 acids, it is helpful in preventing and
treating high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and
many other health problems. Recent scientific
research has shown success in the use of seal heart
valves as replacements for defective human heart
    valves.
    10. Canada, with the support of provinces and
territories, Inuit organizations, and the sealing
industry, has taken action against the European
Union (EU) through the World Trade Organization
process to have the EU seal product ban declared
an illegal trade barrier. The EU’s own legal analysis
    supports this position.

Now, I want to bring up a point that nobody is even thinking about or looking at as far as I know , FACT we have an issue of starvation going on in this world. the iron and the minerals found in the seal meat which could be turned into sealed jerky , dried meat which has been eaten for years and years to prevent scurvy and starvation in times of deep winter and isolation by the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. IF we are to make dried seal and send it to Africa , where people are dying daily, can you imagine all the lives that could be saved! we need to look at this on a global feature and not just look at 1 issue and think it’s just an inhumane thing to do ! How many damn chickens or goats are cows are slaughtered on a daily basis? we need to put it together and come up with Solutions for the world ! I feel that the overpopulation of the seal species needs to be put in check, the predator of the seal species has been hunted to such mass numbers . those numbers are so greatly reduced that the population of the seals are now at a Max and it will crash! now if this crashes it will be detrimental to our worlds to the food. Have anybody wondered where the white worms come from in our fish that we consume this is from the fish Feeding in the areas where the Sea Oats defecate the parasites on the defecation are these white worms these white worms now get into the fish food source. I beg you , tyt to promote this not as a bad thing but maybe as a solution for a problem that is on the other side of the world of Newfoundland and Labrador.

  8. I couldn’t imagine if all of the mega churches in my area were allowed to have armed police. You have no clue how many times I and my other atheist friends who were forced to go to church by their overly religious families would have been killed. I personally have been “quote asked to leave and never return or contact any of their members again” by 5 local churches including 2 mega churches. I live in Indiana right in the bible belt. Locals CAN NOT go a few blocks even in “drive through” towns without passing a few churches. even in towns with a population of a few hundred a person would have a small selection of churches to attend in the area. This would be turning my town into a living battle field Christians vs non-believers even between the same religion but varying denominations. An open minded critical thinking person would stand no chance of surviving in this state….

  9. Need more Jayar on these panels. His measured responses provide a nice contrast to Cenk and Ana’s unchained style, and John’s sarcastic (?) style.

  10. The Earth Day/Enviro email was all a bad Huckabee level joke.. pretty bad.. so bad i guess all intent was lost on the mini panel. loved Anna’s conservative alarm though.

  11. When John & Jayar started commenting on “Progressives who voted for Trump, cheering because YES! See how horrible the atrocities are,” Ana had a great response.

She was fearful that people will go for something “not as bad as Trump. Still bad, still horrible, but not AS bad as Trump.”

Does anyone really believe that, outside of a few progressive groups online, people would be as outraged, or even paying attention, to atrocities that a Hillary WH would be doing?
    NO. No, they would not.
It would be the same complacency that blanketed the country under Pres.Obama.
Because we Obama did bomb & kill people.
He did roll-over while the Republicans BLOCKED his SCOTUS nom for a year.
He did make the Bush tax-cuts permanent.
He did give us Romneycare, without even attempting single-payer or the public option.
HRC would be doing the same thing, and people would still be asleep.
Nothing would change and no one would care.

  12. Honestly I can’t believe you are talking about Syria as if America has any right to be involved at all! How about America just stays the fuck OUT of other countries problems???

  13. I can’t believe they’re still talking about that Sean Spicer thing. Saying that he “denied the Holocaust” is absolutely grasping for straws, at least judging by what you showed yesterday, TYT.

  14. Tax payer money should go to tax payers and their programs. Most churches are tax excempt. They don’t pay into the system

  15. I thought Trump was clear: if Assad uses gas or chemical weapons on civilians, we will strike. If he doesn’t, we won’t. But how would he respond to the question: How are you going to remove Assad since your spokespeople have already said he must go? Excellent points about Trump’s hypocracy with civilian deaths. What’s most impressive is that the missiles didn’t go to Iraq. Perhaps ivanka will show him video of the deaths from US drone strikes. He’ll be pissed when he sees his Northrop Grumman stock fell after mad dog unleashed the Tomahawks on them. I hope she doesn’t show him videos of political opponents Putin has poisoned with chemicals.

  16. I think Jayar and Ana both missed the mark in criticizing people who are hoping for a “liberal revolution” in the wake of the current political climate. I don’t think it makes sense to point to progressives for the election result when 45% of the country didn’t vote at all. How much does the POTUS impact the policies in Chechnya, anyways? I kind-of admire people who voted their conscious instead of capitulating to our election system which has been subverted in so many ways. In the brief period of time between casting my ballot and getting the results I remember feeling guilty about voting for Clinton knowing that her party robbed Bernie Sanders and her record indicated she would support more war and would obviously not fix the problem of money in politics. Now we’re living in a much different much more orange world, so.. I just think it was a little unnecessary to bring up progressives culpability for that horrible situation in Chechnya.

Full steam ahead on get money out of politics; the [almost] positive flip-side which no one mentioned is that Americans mostly aren’t “okay” with those literally evil right wing psychopaths actions -that goes to Ana’s point about that violating the principles America was founded on

    1. > I just think it was a little unnecessary to bring up progressives culpability for that horrible situation in Chechnya.

Oh for fuck’s sake. That’s like trying blame the war in Syria on Jill Stein.

Are Jayar and Ana going to go get into this snippy finger-pointing at their own side, every single time there is major anti-LGBTQ violence somewhere or other in the world? If so, this is going to get old really fast.

  17. I don’t know how Chechnya was not the whole show. That story just absolutely stuns me, I couldn’t pay attention to anything else in the show once you teased that. Just horrible. Please follow up. I don’t understand how this is not every news organization’s top story….. CNN leader in News my ass

  18. As a Canadian who has lived in the arctic and has an understanding of the inuit people’s way of life I am a proponent of the seal hunt. As a Canadian who understands the people who would actually hunt the extent of the quota, again, I am a proponent of the seal hunt. Thought this was my new source for reasonable American news. Do some research beyond the “peta” website. These are peoples livelihoods. A peoples, whom I might add, have been on this side of the Atlantic far longer than your LA asses.

  19. Calling it here, as Trump is about to be impeached, US goes to war with Syria, and Trump remains in power.

  20. I am absolutely sure the President of China did not reference “the babies” or “the gases” in his response… Come On that is a total fabrication of the Chinese President answer.

  21. Thank you for putting these up quick. Was getting really irritated at the late postings over the past couple weeks. Many of us work during the live stream, and right when the show ends is right when a lot of people are getting off work. Only a couple of hours before bed, so if it’s posted too late, i miss the show.

Side note: the audio link used to work on my phone, but the format changed and now I can never get it to work. I miss it because I live in a remote place with poor phone service, so I can’t stream the show on my phone. (iPhone 6)

  22. I like this mini power panel. I like hearing Jayar with more input. Thanks so much for putting this up so promptly. I find I’ve just missed the live stream and presto! it’s there when I look for it. Good job, Gigi!

  23. I love this and the next panel, it’s contrary to popular belief, the power fun panel. It’s great for this week and a Wednesday.

  24. I don’t care if it’s uploaded quickly. There is no Cenk, so there is no need to watch the B team. I’m going to watch Kyle.

      1. Ikr? Too fast, too slow, I guess that’s the way it goes. Everybody just think of how terrific it is that TYT is there!
They heard us! Now, if Has could just stay off the main show and interrupt/talk over/be full of himself/try jokes that fall flat, somewhere else, that would be just fine with me. Off camera I bet his clowning makes him fun to be out with, but as main show material, not so much.
