Ana talks about her experience with an online troll. Ana asks if it was wrong to take screenshots of the conversation and share it with people. John and Ana talk about irrational fears.
Also Ana, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with exposing vile trolls.
No one should be given a free pass to offend, harass, and threaten in a way that they wouldn’t dare do in person. That’s b/c in a civilized society that behaviour is obvs unacceptable and condemned.
So, why should the internet be a place where barbaric behaviour is tolerated?
Conversely, if this troll made his comments to you in person, that would clearly be verbal abuse. There would be absolutely no question about should the troll’s identity be protected. You’d be telling everyone, all the witnesses would recount the incident, and everyone would be filming/posting it online. This guy would get the public shaming beat-down of his life.
If you’re referring to polar bears Jon… yeah. they’re supposedly terrifying. I remember an evolutionary biology professor I had in college who always told our class that polar bears legitimately terrified him the most out of any animal, because they are really aggressive and fast… but yeah, you go do that secret project. Hopefully it’s about global warming lol.
I interact with the internet expecting that what I say can and will be brought up IRL. Would I rather some things I see and do not come up? Sure. But I feel little shame and stand by it so I whole heartily support this action.
Anna, excluding “Fat” from your comment would simply leave you calling Jones a F**k would be factually incorrect, no one would f**k that guy. His right hand even filed for separation and the court records from the settlement would make a Vegas hooker weep from hearing what that poor hand has been through.
genius postgame & incredible show! thank you john & ana – you may not have the money you should for keeping journalism alive (yet), but I hope the devotion from we, your audience, suffices.
ana: fuck the fucking trolls! exposing who they are to people they know is not feeding them. calling out the aggressive ones to family &/or employers could just be the method which instigates a cessation of their barrage of petulant, vulgar & violent harassment… & it could prevent it from devastating someone more emotionally vulnerable/at–risk. do what you’ve been doing – trust your instincts, evaluate case by case.
john: your border wall concept was brilliant from start to finish. ironically, it sounded less insane to me than the proposal of the company to build a 100ft. wide toxic waste moat. also, the “irrational” fears of creatures like sharks or bears I think is something primeval, some psychological residue left over in our brains when such things seemed more monstrous than natural.
asher: nice reflexes & to 2nd ana – get it girl!
I think people need to own up to their own shit. So, if you don’t want people to see how you try troll people on the internet, DON’T TROLL PEOPLE. So I say go forth and post it! Maybe they will learn a good life lesson.
Um, no. Ana, you need to watch that movie and then tell me that you’re not traumatized. That movie is the reason my extremely brave, normally non-phobic of anything boyfriend now refuses to go camping with me.
Also, if someone goes out of their way to attack you, you have every right to strike back. I agree that a single comment is probably forgivable, since we are all bound to get emotional, at times. I’ve said some things I later regretted.
Centipedes are not slow! I’m talking about the ones in MI that have legs like hair, not the short stubby tropical shits.
And even if they were slow, they are the same color as wood so they don’t need to be slow. They can mount a sneak attack! Evil little fuck monsters! God damn it! Bears can’t mount a sneak attack because they’re lard asses
If it were me trolling somebody online like that on any public platform, first thing I would do is at least get a somewhat anonymous account so that no one could find out where I live or who I’m associated with. It’s just common sense. It just goes to show that these guys are just not that smart.
Fear does not understand statistics! I havena giant fear of bears. I used to have nightmares about them since I can first remember dreaming about 5 years old till adulthood and the where weekly or nightly and as the years have gone by I only have nightmares about them once every 2 or 3 years. Wierd and dont know why!
Not wrong at all to send those screenshots if they are persisted and truly being nasty. Maybe it’ll be a learning experience – if nothing else a lesson in accountability.
Honestly, I think sharing it with his parents is a kind thing to do. I agree that it may help him evolve. Perhaps he will learn from this and it may help him in the future. If not, at least you tried. I say that as a parent (although my kids are much younger) who would want to know if my son did something like that so I could hopefully get him back on track. Young kids/young adults do stupid things and with some help hopefully they will grow out of it.
ON THE SUBJECT OF TROLLS: Ana, during this last election cycle I was trolled by my own family (my cousin specifically). He is a major asshole which is crazy because my aunt is one of the best people I know. Anyway, like many Americans, I had joked about moving to Canada if Trump got elected. The morning after the election, my cousin messaged me on Facebook asking me when I was moving to Canada. I thought he was trying to kid around, but then he was like “no seriously”. Then he said and I quote “Take your 72 gender friends with you”. So, I took a screen shot of the conversation and sent it to my aunt immediately. She didn’t react the way I had hoped. She more or less acted like she thought he was just kidding around. It wasn’t very satisfying, but I still felt like she should know how her son is treating people.
So, the moral of this story is: I totally get where you are coming from and you should totally put the trolls on blast. I don’t care how sad their lives are. They will likely never see if from your perspective and they probably won’t learn that what they are doing is wrong and hurtful because you called them out. My guess is that it is something that they will have to grow out of and look back on and later realize how immature and stupid they were. It feels good to fight back though even if it seems pointless. As you would say, “You do you, boo”
This is a hilarious clip from a comedian named Liza Treyger which pretty much explains trolls. https://youtu.be/n4QCLIZGULo
General Ana could do much worse than send a screenshot to trolls´s parents, as she a bigger army behind her than Lópes ever had. She can shut anyone down on the net with a flick of a finger.
And John is also right abt the bears and the sharks, they are terrifying.
Can we get Ashers mash-pic on a T-Shirt??
Ill buy it right now in a Medium, then again in Large, and then one more time in XL.
That pic really shows that TYT is: TOO STRONG
Ps: Asher is cooler than Nordic hell.
I’m going to go against the grain here. I have never been trolled by a stranger, but an old friend tried to take me down at the end of a friendship. Honestly I think you should let these comments go. Block his account and move on. I think your reaction is human, and I would not judge you if you showed his family etc, his comments.
My rationale for suggesting letting it go comes from a place of protecting yourself. He called you stupid. You’re the furthest thing from stupid, and you COULD use your brains to take him down. All of that is ego motivated. Like the story from hour two on Thursday, you really never know what’s going on in someones life. For me, I always assume peoples life and circumstances are much more complicated than appear to the eye.
He’s truly not worth your time. Wish him peace and happiness, that is the only thing that could change his hurting heart.
Trolls are not worth your time or energy.
Again I must reiterate I have not dealt with trolls.
Here’s a prayer I end my yoga classes with.

“May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
There is a lot of science behind the psychological calming affects of mantra… just saying.
This was a great Post Game. So we have hiked and camped all over western Washington, we are aware of the possible dangers from wildlife and take what precautions we can (bear bell, proper food storage etc), but I have never really felt ‘scared’ of bears . . . Until we watched The Revenant.
I agree with John. I wont go into the ocean either to surf because of sharks. Just like I wont go into the Savannah in Africa dressed like a gazelle because of lions, I sure as hell wont go into the ocean dressed like a seal because of sharks. It’s their world and you are just asking to be eaten when you go out and dress like their food. Then people complain about being eaten, even though they put themselves in that position. Nope… Bears though are easy. You are supposed to play dead with a bear. So make sure you have someone else with you when you are camping. Tell them also about how playing dead will be the best way to defend against bears. Then when a bear comes and your friend is playing dead, just run like hell and hopefully they weren’t a very good friend.
John, You have a greater chance of being killed by a toddler with a gun (21) or a lawnmower (69) than being killed by a bear (3).
Love you guys, I laugh so much when John and Ana are running the show.
Ana. Send the information to the trolls family and workplace. These foul mouthed jerks need to be shown the line of civility and dragged back to the side that has it. It’s one thing to criticize someone but their comments are just brain dead thoughtless and meant to do nothing but hurt others. Manners matter and they need to learn that anonymity is being threatened and their actions only facilitate aggressors of it. That and there is always a good way of approaching a subject and a crappy way. Motivate them to not take the crap road.
John… There is only one bear that will actively hunt humans and that’s a polar bear. A polar bear sees a human as food. No other species of bear would hunt you. Just leave them alone. Don’t mess with their babies, and back away slowly, and all is good.
Signed… A country girl who lives in black bear country, and who spent the first 26 years of her life on an island and used to fish for little black tip sharks because they make good eating!
As someone who as been “rushed” by both bears (twice black bear(s) within 12 hours) and sharks (not sure maybe 20 times mostly reef sharks, few hammerheads, grays and lemons only bitten once), I’m more scare of bears. I think my fear is my lack bear experience and knowledge. The size difference in the species that I interacted with, and the noise, yes… the noise.
A bear does not have to be hunting a human to attack. All it takes is a misunderstanding over one’s intentions toward that bear, its offspring, or its territory, particularly since their habitat is in decline due to acid rain, global warming, and real estate development.
Bears also break into cars to look for food in addition to invading camp sites. That is why there are bear-proof steel lockers in Yosemite at the campgrounds. Even an empty cooler, box, grocery bag, or snack food package can tempt a bear to break in and root around in the back seat.
Wild vertebrates and aquatic life are in decline as human numbers boom. We can guess what bears think of the menace that humans pose.
Super fantastic show, thanks everyone (special credit to Asher).
John: while i was watching my friend said they have an electrical shark repellent that works, i can find the link to the demo if you like.
Ana: it is super horrid that you have the downsides of fame without the upsides of security ($) I think about it and can’t help. I worry that you focus so much on the trolls and not the fans but i get it.
As for if you should release your info on a truly persistent replant troll. There is no real win but I say do it and even make a show about it. I would suggest that you warn them before you go nuclear. But in this case I think you did.
Ana did the right thing. If anything ever happened to me like that, I’d get the persons info and send it to their family and hopefully they’ll think twice about harassing someone online. Now I do disagree with Ana on one thing. She said fame was horrible and she’s stated numerous times as to why she thinks it sucks but I think she’s being a hypocrite. She’d be perfectly fine with fame if she was making $20 million a year at TYT.
Ana never change. Show those trolls that there are consequences for their actions. Be sure to take threats very seriously(I’m sure you do). If trolls feel like they are vulnerable they may think twice the next time they feel like trolling.
John get a shotgun. It will make you feel better at the very least.
I would especially show trolling messages with everyone, because its good for others to know who they really are and they should be held accountable for it. If he does it to you who knows who else is being trolled by this guy think about it and many people arent brave enough to talk to others about this kind of trolling.
I’m Canadian and go camping occasionally, bears are fucken terrifying for the specific set of circumstances Jon laid out, he is absolutely correct. Some bears will see people and be terrified and run off; some, though, see you as a challenge and either want to show dominance, most likely to get to the food at your campsite or just straight up see you as the food and attack. My buddy’s dad goes camping way more than me and he’s had bears hunt him for a whole week long trail. He had to be careful he didn’t wake up to a bear attack (he slept in his canoe a lot on that particular trip). So ya, it’s unlikely to be attacked by a bear but if you go camping or are just out in the woods in certain places bears are no joke; especially if they’re hungry!
John is smart to be bear smart, and using some common sense, he’ll be fine :-) LOL, just don’t piss off the bear!
Ana, if the guy is persistent like he was, I’m with you, he should be exposed for who he is.
I live in Kodiak, Alaska, which has the biggest brown bears in the world. I feel confident in saying, that while I’m not an expert, I happen to get into conversations with strangers about bears, as well as have personal experience with bears, at a far higher rate than the average individual.
Most bears are actually giant pussies, unless you have food, or they are a mother + cub. Most of the meat they get comes from fish or from scavenging, so they aren’t really natural hunters. The only thing they’ll fight you over is food or to be protective of the young. If you don’t have food, bears don’t really bother you, and are usually more inclined to avoid you rather than confront you. True, there are some bear attacks which people get hurt, but usually it’s a freak encounter, or over food. A bear will fuck you up if you’re dragging a deer through the woods, but they will probably leave you alone if you just randomly encounter you. Especially if they don’t see humans a lot of the time, they will usually be more scared of you, than you are of them.
Although there are some aggressive breeds of bears, such as black bears, which you probably should be scared of. If it’s a dumpster/landfill/trashcan bear, be very wary, because that’s basically food. There’s a saying at home, where if you feed a bear, you’re killing it, because it will keep coming back to get food, and inevitably you have to kill it, or someone’s going to get mauled by that neighborhood bear while taking the trash out.
Also, unless they’re black bears, they can be defeated by heights and doors.
My fear of centipedes is worse. The population density of centipedes in the Detroit area where I grew up is 4,000,000/square mile and they’re faster than bears.
Fear does funny things to people. I knew someone who used to think that bats could fly through walls, so it’s unsurprising that you feel like centipedes could clock in at 28-35mph like bears can. Don’t worry, centipedes are slow :)
I know Ana you started out wanting to hit with a hammer but he needed to be hit with a sledgehammer. plus I do not think is wrong. And he kept trolling you instead of letting it go so you needed to be taken down. it takes two to tango.
I have a saying for people who are like Alex jones including with this show I would have given him a link to weight watchers while advising him that losing weight is good for your heart. and if he needed any more advice on anger management send that link too.and tell him to have a good day

Good that she took screenshots, I would’ve sent them as well. The idiot has to learn there are consequences.
Also Ana, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with exposing vile trolls.

Fast forward 48 hours…….and Alex Jones is now a FAT FUCKING PERFORMANCE ARTIST. LMFAaOooo!!!!

yeah, you’d think bears are not a big deal until you see one 15 feet away in the dark. I was so tense that instead of farting, I burped.
I interact with the internet expecting that what I say can and will be brought up IRL. Would I rather some things I see and do not come up? Sure. But I feel little shame and stand by it so I whole heartily support this action.
I feel there was an amazing opportunity to refer to an area that is “bear adjacent” as “bearitory”
Anna, excluding “Fat” from your comment would simply leave you calling Jones a F**k would be factually incorrect, no one would f**k that guy. His right hand even filed for separation and the court records from the settlement would make a Vegas hooker weep from hearing what that poor hand has been through.
Someone call the school Betsy Devos should have gone to, find out what bear repellent John needs in the next TYT fundraiser!

Okay but bears are actually terrifying death creatures that have no problem wrecking your shit.
Salty Ana is the best Ana. Givem’ hell Kasper!
The bit about bears was too funny. You guys are great
I fully support calling Alex Jones a Fat Fuck…. Fuck that guy.
I like TYT because you guys don’t hold back punches. Alex Jones is a bad person. He does not deserve any respect.
“My girlfriend Arlene..”
Well there goes my John and Hannah together fantasy.
God damn it

Um, no. Ana, you need to watch that movie and then tell me that you’re not traumatized. That movie is the reason my extremely brave, normally non-phobic of anything boyfriend now refuses to go camping with me.
We have to build a wall, a big beautiful wall, to keep the bears out.
Ana, you are much more famous than you think.
Also, if someone goes out of their way to attack you, you have every right to strike back. I agree that a single comment is probably forgivable, since we are all bound to get emotional, at times. I’ve said some things I later regretted.
Alex Jones IS a fat fuck, not referring to his waist size, but rather to what is between his ears.
This was a very fun post game!
“Bear Adjacent” lol
Fear does not understand statistics! I havena giant fear of bears. I used to have nightmares about them since I can first remember dreaming about 5 years old till adulthood and the where weekly or nightly and as the years have gone by I only have nightmares about them once every 2 or 3 years. Wierd and dont know why!
From a fat person, Alex jones is a fat fuck. I am fat also, I can say it. And Ana saying rotund, it sounded almost adorable. Wish I was called that
Not wrong at all to send those screenshots if they are persisted and truly being nasty. Maybe it’ll be a learning experience – if nothing else a lesson in accountability.
Honestly, I think sharing it with his parents is a kind thing to do. I agree that it may help him evolve. Perhaps he will learn from this and it may help him in the future.

Just sayin’
John telling Ana about his fear of bears reminded me of Sterling Archer telling Lana Kane about his fear of gators. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATGaybgla0w
Odds are if he took everything down, then he got scared straight. However, if he keeps going after you give him no mercy.
Great post game, as usual. I always love seeing John and Ana host together. Keep up the great work, guys. :)
My fear of centipedes is worse. The population density of centipedes in the Detroit area where I grew up is 4,000,000/square mile and they’re faster than bears.
Thats weird cause I live in Windsor Ont and I dont see many at all. Thank god for the Detroit river haha
I’m with you. Even the word “centipede” is horrifying.
I have a saying for people who are like Alex jones including with this show I would have given him a link to weight watchers while advising him that losing weight is good for your heart. and if he needed any more advice on anger management send that link too.and tell him to have a good day
I love the fact that John knows the population density of bears in California.
