  1. I enjoy these talks they spark ideas and bits of history, some of them will be more entertaining than others, but I wouldn’t want you to try and change this talk to be more entertaining. It was perfect as is.

  2. Love this show. Would be great if you had a video player that allowed for 1.5 or 2x speed.

    Can you do this?

    1. I also agree. That would make everything more digestable, and I used to have the functionality back in the old days when this podcast was available for free on the iphone.

  3. I’m excited for Cenk’s new electric vase platform. Can I upload the contents of my vase to the cloud?

    1. You have to agree to the MyVAsE terms and agreement contract before. And remember to leave your firstborn and life savings on your patio afterward.

  4. Too counter the “it was boring” sentiment, I enjoyed this ep too. But I’m EST, so I usually use old school to wind down and relax.

As a young-ish single guy, glad to know there’s still hope for me.

Also get a bit bummed when the posting of this is delayed. But I’ll check my OS privaledge.

  5. Interesting mention of the branding TYT. I have Greek heritage and my relatives there have been trying to get me to hate Turkish people (for Ottoman Empire occupation of Greece) my whole life. I always chose not to subscribe to the hate but couldn’t help absorbing some. As I got older, I made friends from Turkey and visited Kucadasi. My point is, I always wondered if the name might be keeping other Greeks away because of the historic anti-Turkish sentiment. Of course, I understood the alternate meaning of rebel and was introduced to TYT through social media so it wasn’t even on my mind that it might be some sort of Turkish propaganda. It did occur to me that Cenk is Turkish but I thought he was just happy with all of its PUNY goodness (dorky but endearing side of Cenk).

    1. The actual young turks turned out no better than the old f**k**s they replaced, those were the days before WW1 and then after WW1 Aturtuk came along and was a good guy.
All the hundred year old stuff plus is little use in todays context, Y do the Greeks always blame someone else is the real question!
But anyway TYT nowadays represents an idea of the old people clinging on to power and fighting to stay in-situ : and the TYT ousts them and takes over

  6. I love Old School and I love TYT but this is the one OS I couldn’t even finish, was bored to tears. That being said, I love Mark and Cenk! Their episode with Irma was hilarious! And as usual, I love Ben <3 random but true!

  7. Damn Cenk talkin about throwing away 1/3 of his restaurant food as a diet goal lmao…. only in America would throwing food out be a personal goal to work toward. Also, eating at restaurants is maybe the most unhealthy thing you can do if you’re trying to lose weight. Yeah I get it, its delicious and shit, but look at a calorie sheet for basically any restaurant. I’ve seen salads with with 2000 calories….people think it’s healthy because its a salad but they still smother it in shit to make it taste good.

    1. I hated hearing how you, Cenk, throws away food. That’s tragic and wasteful, and you’ve got to at least take it home for the kids to snack on.` You know the statistics on American food waste, and I can’t imagine you as a conscientious world citizen not keeping that in mind. Please don’t do that. Unless it’s a business lunch, you have some access to refrigeration, or people at work will eat it knowing the deal. I just don’t think it gibes with your character. There’s my nickel’s worth.

  8. I was losing some love for Old School… This is OS gold. This is a true reward for members. I’m a member of TYT because of candid conversations like this. While MSNBC and CNN and FOX actively disconnect, TYT just hangs out.

  9. Russian Muslim. Attacks St. Pete in retaliation for Russian atrocities in Chechneya? Maybe? I mean their are a number of discounted Muslim communities in both current and former Russian lands.

BTW, The historical Young Turks historically did atrocities. Yes. But what group, Americans, British, French, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum didn’t? The Young Turks did reform Turkey and introduce secularism to a troubled area. Its too bad that legacy is under attack. Even when there are bad things a group did, you can acknowledge the truly good things they did, as long as there motives were true. I draw the line at the Nazi’s though. They were only despicable, because they had no good intentions for “non Nazis” to begin with.

Finally, the fact you have an outspoken Armenian as a primary anchor on your show kind of blows the potential criticism out of the water. All groups can reform. If only Islam would. And for anyone that wants to understand how groups can perform atrocities, then reform, or get worse, and how history can be very clouded in judgement, I recommend Fly Boys, by James Bradley.

  10. I too am unhappy with how long it takes you guys to post Old School in the member’s area. 24 hours is reasonable, 3 days is not.

  11. Ana can’t find Mark Thompson’s podcast because she has no idea where the edge is anymore, lol.

Great show guys, loved all of it, especially the history lesson that started the show off. Also, anything goes in a bathroom unless there’s a chance that you know people that might be in there (unless you’re good friends with them, then back to anything goes.)

  12. I like Mark on Old School. He’s the next best guest after Ben. I’d love to see him on the show every week.

I’m going to guess the deep voice adds to Mark’s attractiveness to women.

Also, (some) men have a really messed up relationship to sex, it seems. Now I feel sorry for them. Ayy, to have your ego depend on sexual experience. OTOH, I also now feel sorry for the people who didn’t mess around before “settling down.” I’m not sure if I should respect them for not doing it now or not.
