  2. Cenk, you are actually letting the establishment off hook, quite a bit, in that graphic. They didn’t just lose the national governments and state legislatures, they’ve almost massively bled out governorships. You really should include them in this graphic (they lost another net governor seat in 2016). They only hold 16 governorships, compared to 33 Republican governorships and 1 Independent governor. So yeah, they’re literally doing worse at governorships than they are at state legislatures. You’ve got to start mentioning this, too, because that directly fucking affects census taking/redistricting, inability to veto voter ID laws and anti-abortion measures, criminal state-level justice reform, and down the fucking line.

    A Legislator is one person. A Legislature is a body of Legislators.

    Please fix it.

  5. Ahhh….birthdays. At over 50 I find it is best to enjoy them vicariously through the plethora of kids that surround my family. We tend to combine celebrations around one of the kids. This is right. B-Days are just another day, no different in reality than the day before or the day after.

    Cenk, Anna, yes, there is a decent wine country around Carmel, but get over to Paso Robles for the real stuff. Or come up to my neck of California and enjoy Sonoma County vintages. So much good wine, so little time.

    Ana, when you go to Carmel, I highly recommend going to Katy’s for breakfast if you like eggs benedict. A bit expensive (as most things in Carmel are), but the best I’ve ever had.

  7. My birthday is in November so to celebrate it I just have a Thanksgiving dinner with my family, which is kinda unusual because I’m British and we don’t celebrate it, but it’s such a great holiday and so much better than birthday cake and presents.

  8. I thought Cenk’s approach was direct and attacked the politics of it, without resorting to name-calling. Don’t know what Cenk was talking about; he seemed restrained.

  9. My idea of a low key birthday is ordering pizza, not a weekend trip to wine country.

    And hey, if you are going to write about somebody you should spell their name correctly! That just makes you look stupid or like an ass. It’s not hard to get that right.

  15. I read in a book by Deepak Chopra, and he said, ‘if you want to have true meaning in your life and possibly even change the world, do what you truly love’. It seems obvious to me, Cenk truly loves what he’s doing. It gives me hope for the future, seeing people that are so totally engaged.

  16. In my opinion, Cenk, you took it too easy on Alex. I think you could intellectually and analytically vivisect his statements. It would be a real show of strength if you would do this in the mainstream arena. Is a Justice Democrats press conference out of the question in the near future? Because otherwise the mainstream would just try to sweep the internet media under the rug, ignore you and the people that should hear you, can’t. Save the knockout punches for all the world to see.
