The reason I watch, I live in Germany (Cali born and raised). I was on the phone with my mom as she was being fed fake news about sweden from the current president. I told her it was fake news, that there where no terrists attacks on that day! I told that its not likely she would get such information about a country so close to Germany before I did. I searched everything and found no such news. I told her its not real. She didnt believe me till she saw on the local news the next day that it was fake news. I just want to mention I have always been the black sheep of the family as I am a way too honest and call BS when I see it. So my own Mother not believing me shocked and hurt me just a little. Of course I realise its really not her fault when her main source of news is full of brainwashing corporate or political adjendas.
Thank the Gods you guys are here. I cant wait till TYT is a more widely listened to and watched news source throughout American households.
now THAT is how you make an episode of TYT. This entire two hour block was some of your best work, but especially this last hour. Cenk seemed eager to get to an agreement at the end of that argument, but why? What’s wrong with disagreement?
Cenk has always said how much he loved watching the McLaughlin Group as a kid. That whole show was about disagreement. I want a TYT show that is nothing but this stuff. Informed people intelligently debating important topics in a long form format, like a two hour show, weekly.
I know nobody at TYT ever looks at these comments, cause hey we’re just members and all. We’re not like random idiots on youtube. But just in case someone clicks in here by accident. Please run this up the chain of command. We need a show like this to take TYT to that next level. You know, like old school, but instead of talking about diner food, talking about politics.
The thing is that eventually best practices do come in to play. If Nomi and all of them were to have their own show 6 months or a year down the line they’d all probably end up having mostly the same opinion and they’d have to play devil’s advocate. They disagree that much now because they’re all sort of brought in from various places, backgrounds, etc, and the news is being made. Once stuff becomes old news, and they debate on new news, until it becomes hashed out and old news, and they see trends and patterns… then their divergences will come back in.
The only way to consistently have that combative of a show, is to have people who planted their flag and nothing will change their mind. Do you really want them to bring on someone who is a conservative who has to lie on a regular basis, and ignore news reporting just so that you have a difference of opinion? Progressives are winning on gender, climate change, ecological protections, safety regulations, love, and so many other topics because we don’t just tow a line and say that individual mandates are wonderful because it’ll stop all those emergency room free rides, and then call it the most unconstitutional thing ever done ever, just because a black man signed it into law.
So that’s the issue. Eventually the disagreements stop being as heated because they get onto the same page by following the evidence.
I can’t get over how intelligent and politically informed Nomi is so in my opinion that’s the best addition Tyt has made recently.
Much love to all of you on this panel from ATL. I value all of your points of view. TYT Politics bump!
Weak “bye-bye” hahaha but great show!
Those three have been brilliant, I’d hoped Cenk could find it in his heart to spare them from the moronic sign-off thing that he keeps insisting on, but hey, it’s a small price to pay.
It’s amazing how much more watchable TYT becomes when there are contrasting viewpoints on display, and intelligent eloquent people to present them. Just contrast these two hours with Ana’s inane bullshit or Iadarola’s attempts at humor…
WEAK and awkward bye-bye. SAD!
Just watched all the I AM TYT clips. Why was there not one single Black person among them? Something to work on TYT!
You are what’s wrong with liberals.
Its not like this is the Oscar’s or something, its viewer submitted content. So if nobody from a certain demographic sends in a video….then there won’t be one to feature. I didn’t see any Tibetans on there either
Well we didn’t enslave and oppress Tibetans since the beginning of the 13 colonies either. Maybe not many African Americans are watching TYT and maybe that could be addressed by reaching out to them and covering stories that address particular issues of importance to them. But maybe you don’t think it’s important to reach out to African Americans or Tibetans or anyone not European…
I don’t know what featuring a black person on some viewer submitted content would do to address the terrors of slavery.
Just so stereotypical, hyper-sensitive liberal of you to point out something trivial and make it seem as though it is a microagression against an entire group of people, and your keyboard-cowboy method of defending it is laughable. Sorry they didn’t have a token black person for you to pat yourself on the back about and make you feel better about slavery.
I hear ya, but I want to point out that TYT does a lot of stories that are of interest to African Americans, so I don’t think they are lacking in that regard.
jeffhorton You haven’t been watching TYT long, have you? They address issues that are of importance to the black community ALL THE TIME!
I am a new watcher so I admit to having a limited data base to draw from. I grant your claim mostly because I like the politics I’ve seen so far. I was struck by the lack of any Black people in that one I AM TYT feature, admittedly not a very substantial basis. Then I couldn’t remember any Black people on the panels either. I also know it’s possible to have a progressive group or effort that doesn’t include African Americans, but I don’t that that ends well usually. Anyway, I’m going to keep watching. Thanks for your response.
jeffhorton You have a lot to look forward to then!
I love the “big oil last stand”. Very astute. Grabbing what they can for their own wealth before everything collapses.
This is the ultimate power panel!! Please please please get these guys together more often!!!!! They are TOO STRONG!!!!!!
There needed to be an EXTRA Hour.
How about a once a month MEGA Power Panel of this Gang?
I think that is a perfect way to see how the different teams come together from their different attacks.
Cenk, Granholm was my Gov. Loved her back in the day.
She’s very different now … she has been infected with the Borg virus.
It would be great if the could regularly include the reporters (via video) in the main show.
Power panels like this need extra time!
Only short by one, Ana, but aside that this was the best panel I’ve watched in my years of watching! I wanted to do a vid to send in for #iamtyt but didn’t get around to it; super stoked you’re gonna do another!
Ps. Who was the aussie/kiwi girl in the #iamtyt clip? If you read this say hey, im a long time aussie fan of the show n like meeting fellow young turks on our side of our globe! Or not of course, if it would be uncomfy or an impositions.
Much luv to all TYT! :)
was that the one with the brown cap/hat thingy? dam she was so pretty.
im from aus too, been collecting AU peeps so we can one day do a gathering. interested?
I loved the arguments in both hours. They were pretty heated (you can tell because the professional debate style comes out, the lightning talking speed and everything) and they were very very informative and helped me wrap my head around the various facets of these arguments!
What a great discussion both hours.
Loved the show. The reporters brought such depth to the conversation. Do it again!
