Steve, Malcolm, and Dave play Friday PG classic, the beloved, Weekly Whirled News, and a special Inauguration edition of Totally True Or Totally Bullshit. Dave explains why he’s jealous of Malia Obama.
I admit that 75 percent of the motivation is just to irritate Steve, who hates that I insist on explaining everything each time. Except on those rare occasions when I DON’T, we invariably get comments like “Who are these guys?” and “Why didn’t you talk about [story that broke Friday]?
Maybe I’ll have one of the editors put together a slate to run at the beginning of each video with a disclaimer/explanation. Might not be a top priority for the editing team, though, so we’ll see if it ever gets done…
fair enough. I’m sure you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t when it comes to commenters ;) Personally I think it gets to be a bit much having it all explained over and over again, but do what you gotta do.
Thanks for the great post game guys!
I very much appreciate the update on the Niger Delta Avengers
(thanks for answering the multiple calls by a single member :-)
I wonder however what that development means for the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, the Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders or the Reformed Egbesu Fraternities like the Reformed Egbesu Boys of the Niger Delta or the Red Egbesu Water Lions?
off-topic (because I know you read these comments :-) ):
@Steve
I know you’re aware of the problem in general and I don’t know what’s possible etc. I also don’t wanna necessarily criticize too much. My point is: Nomiki is doing great work so far, I’m glad she got hired! And I have no doubt, that the new hires will be turn out as very, very tremendously great as well, bigly! As a member I add Jordan, Emma, Eric into the mix – no one can question their work! I also know that it’s of course more important to hire people by talent and well, who’s available at the time I guess. But all of that said and Shaun King not withstanding, I think as “the biggest online news network in the world” and 80M individual views a month on YouTube, 140M views cross platform you have a certain responsibility in representing your (potential) audience… So to be blunt, if there is any chance, anyone available, I … ok I say it: I’d prefer the next reporter or the 2M one to not be necessarily … white? Again, no hate, and I know it’s not easy and I’m white myself by the way, but… I just think, if there is any chance, it’s like Leonardo DiCaprio (remember the story) hiring an all white team getting criticized for it (I’m certainly not in the “that’s the only thing that counts/how can you not vote for a female etc candidate” camp, but), even though he had an all inclusive perspective. I also know that TYT overall of course is way more diverse, but the on air “talent” representation is heavily screwed towards white personalities… just putin (dders) it out there :-)
PS
let us know on which date exactly you’re in London, I’d like to hang out!
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one concerned about how the Red Egbesu Water Lions will respond to the latest developments. As to the diversity of hiring question, I’m with you. Maybe a future TTOTB topic…?
Malcolm, I like the printed version of the letters for wwn. I said you should make a simple paper cube. Here is a video how. It is super easy to make. 6 sides means A to D one 4 sides and 1 side for each totally true and bullshit. I use it in my class with my students and it works great. You can tape or glue the edges to make sure it stays together.
TTOTB – great questions to debate:
1. Trump appointees – all confirmed b/c Repubs don’t care about experience & want to show total strength against Progressives & will get enriched all around.
2. Impeachment – yes if Progressives push for it
3. 2018 Repub majority – Dems win house & senate (house will be tough & close)
4. Repeal w/o Replace – yes, Repubs don’t care and are looking to get paid right away
5. Mex Wall – totally b/s – Trump will build a tiny portion of a great wall to brag
6. Russia Sanctions – true as Trump will get some payout as a side deal. Believe me, Putin will then stab Trump in the back at some point after winning Trump’s trust.
7. Iran deal pullout – totally b/s, but I fear he & our Middle East allies will taunt Iran to cripple the deal.
Hi, I’m also a new member and this is my second Friday post game really enjoyed both., and will keep watching. I guess that makes it 20 now????????Steve, I hope you have a great summer in London , hope our weather don’t disappoint. Is it just a holiday or doing work? Either way enjoy my adopted City,. I’m originally from Cape Town. Ps. It is called The Gambia ????
dDErss you da man, especially about North Korea. Japanese media over here loves coming up with weird stuff too, this guy or that guy in a headscarf and dark glasses reporting seeing this or that going on in NK when in reality NOBODY knows what’s really going on in that place. That includes American defector to NK Charles Jenkins who’s now living here in Japan. None of these guys would be near any social media if they really knew anything.
Hey Malcolm!! Yahya Jammeh finally beat it an hour ago! Thank you SOOOO MUCH for SHOWING us a lot of Africa and TEACHING realities that affect ALL of us in so many countries there.
I don’t think we at the Friday PG can take ALL the credit for Jammeh’s peaceful departure. Probably more like 65%. But yes, that rare piece of good news coming out of a Friday PG story!
Love the Friday post game! I look forward to it every week. The print outs do work great. Way easier to see. Better luck next week, Steve. I’m rooting for you!
Yes, as it was proven by my fellow commentators here many times, I am a Putin’s agent. Back in early 2013 I was given the task to infiltrate TYT to undermine American democracy specifically, as well as to hack the world order in general. So far I mostly succeeded in hacking the minds of those who read my comments (that can sometimes span over dozens of listed points), but along the way I may have also hacked the DNC and John Podesta.
As to the story: it is popular within the Baltic states to fearmonger about “Russian menace”, so building a fence is a move that is understandably supported and politically expedient.
Not unlike what Trump offers to do with the border of Mexico (and Hillary with the idea of “fence”), though it makes even less sense since the implication is that Lithuania protects itself against the inevitable “Russian invasion”, which obviously would not work this way. It is also similar to Ukraine that spent significant money to build a barrier (not just a fence, but also a trench; this project now is under investigation due to the theft of most of the money).
And as Putin’s apologist I have to notice that considering the number of years he was in power he could have run over either Baltics or Ukraine or most of other neighbours with no real military opposition (only China can withstand Russia in land forces in Eurasia; and no one realisticly believes that NATO would declare a WW3 over Baltic states) but to this day so far he has shown no interest in that. After all, the three modern Russia’s international “aggressions” were/are retaliatory, not pro-active, unlike what the Orwellian MSM say.
Of course, Many just as strongly believe that Putin will invade unprovoked, just out of the blue/being evil anyway as some people believe that Obama will take away guns and put people into hobbit homes. Obama is not in an office any more? I am told he has commanded his plans to be carried out by any of his successors from Democratic party, and this time around the country was saved from surely inevitable doom purely by a lucky blessing. Michele Bachman and Sarah Palin prayed so hard that they temporary overpowered the fate of the nation.
Back in the early 1700s some European ruler has ordered toe fake “Testament of Peter the Great,” a forged document claiming to show Peter I’s plan for global Russian hegemony: https://twitter.com/TheWarNerd/status/820454624138297344. It has been nearly three hundred years since then but this “document” is sometimes still treated by “objective” “historians” as real, and was systematically re-surfaced in the Western media before every war that was about to be waged against Russia to make people join the army.
So maybe even hundreds years from now many Republicans will still fear of being put into FEMA camps somewhere on the Moon as well as of being deprived of their precious blasters and death stars.
(By the way, I do not remember this set of hosts saying too many “wrong” things to be “corrected”; maybe I was rather adding something.)
On defectors from North Korea, but not in relation to concrete story from this video: considering how closed the country is we should be really careful with believing in mass media’s “reports” from there. For example, there was more than one time when they claimed that one minister of the NK’s government or another was executed, but he has turned out to be alive. Writer for media watch dog Fair, Adam Johnson, even came up with “North Korea law of journalism” that explains the situation best: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cr_nIbjWIAAw9l_.jpg
The stories about the untold atrocities and concentration camps come from the CIA-vetted defectors that in reality were mostly low-level or middle-level people within NK and thus do not have accurate picture on those matters. It is similar to the situation with writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, who was ousted from the USSR, telling stories on how Stalin’s GULAG system had 40-110 million prisoners while in reality even in its peak the number was more than order of magnitude less, let alone the fact that only a portion of the prisoners had anything to do with political reasons.
We have to understand that overboard fearmongering that establishment media always brainwash audience with ultimately serves only two purposes: to steal taxpayers’ money by budget overspending on security/military industrial complex and to eventually justify war, which is about spilling the seas of blood but also about the money anyway.
On sanctions against Russia: Trump is super focused on his every move to be presented as a win, even if it is not. Not immediately, but I suppose Trump will sign some deal with Putin that would lift the sanctions, where Russia will also have to make some move that Trump could present as a win. But I am not firm on that considering how strong neocons/neolibs that want Cold War are. Putin would also want for Trump to accept Crimea as a part of Russia’s territory, but so far I doubt it will happen soon or at all even under Trump and everything else being good.
It’s a great trip Steve, I went in the summer on a bus tour that left from my hotel in Oxford Circus in central London. That tour included Bath which I HIGHLY recommend. We first went to Stonehenge, which took about two hours, then we boarded the bus again for Bath.
I’m into Roman history so just walking on the stone all those ancient people walked on was thrilling. Seeing that same hot springs water still coming up after 2,000 years was nearly as amazing as the opportunity to taste a small cup. But my favorite was the metal curses people threw into the pool believing that’d make them come true. Reminded me of some Black Adder curses from Rowan Atkinson’s first British series, couldn’t stop laughing.
Do the tour Steve, and take some KFC with you cuz the food stinks. LOL

Why do you feel obliged to explain what the post game show is every week? I think people will get it without an explicit explanation…

I wonder if “the blonde” wondered what all the special treatment was about or took it as a matter of course.
Pardon versus commutation is actually not a small mistake. I can see making it but it should be clarified the next day at the least.
Oh, also the printed letter signs are an improvement for the Weekly Whirled News Segment.
