As a gender dysphoric individual whose self identification is strongly related to her aversion for senseless aggression and ruthlessness, my worry for Chelsea Manning’s fate is almost personal. If the pardon happens, I’d personally thank President Obama. I will forever be hesitant to criticize his administrative and leadership shortcomings, because he did, however late it maybe, something to prevent a horrific death for my sister.
One would say that would be lending legitimacy to the idea that this pardon is an act of magnanimity rather than the bare minimum amends for a supremely unethical and unjust act, and that would be right too. Love and empathy do put you in such a situation in a struggle against force and authority.
I wish you wouldn’t just report the news, assuming that we know what is being reported else where in the MS Press. I don’t get my news from anywhere else, so for the whole first half of the show I didn’t know what they were referencing to. This is especially true when it’s these two. Cenk usually assumes that many in the audience don’t watch anything else, like myself. I’m too busy working everyday, so I don’t watch any TV……
I’m watching some clips of the Jimmy Dore Show. Seems as though it is what TYT used to be like. Being critical of the government and mocking the mainstream media and so on, not just running with the establishment narrative all the time
I think it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hypocritical that this senator can fuss about Putin being a war criminal, when the US military has done the same or worse. I fucking HATE this hypocrisy. The war crimes tribunal has consistently tried to bring American leaders to justice. We simply refuse. I would say that TYT failure to point out this hypocrisy is one of their great weaknesses. This guy (again, how gross are some of these old guys???).
John telling us to buckle up and get a glass of water is so sweet. John, I think most of us have been swigging tequila straight from the bottle since early November :)
While there is obvious need to cover news about the new president elect, if TYT is going to devote itself to NOTHING except news about Trump, then TYT is no longer a news service, period.
Amy Goodman covers all the same facts about Trump’s doings, daily, that TYT does — yet she also manages to fit many other news stories into her hour. That’s because she is actually interested in providing a NEWS SERVICE.
Furthermore, I am seeing no interest from TYT in doing anything except reacting with semi-hysteria. Does TYT believe that daily hysteria fits will “solve” anything? If notifying people of what is going on is important (and it is), so it notifying people of the SUCCESSFUL ways that OTHER people are resisting not only Trump, but corruption in general.
If we are to win this thing, and turn this country around, we need to be aware of when/where/how OTHER people are winning, and have opportunity to join or support them.
Yesterday under comments I posted about the AMAZING victory Progressives won, here in California, in last weekend’s ADEM election. ADEM elections are held every two years, to nominate the delegates who will meet to decide on officers, issues and the direction the Democratic Party in California is going. Last weekend, “the usual suspects” — party insiders, party hacks, lobbyists, etc — LOST THEIR SEATS to new, fresh progressives. It was an amazingly well-organized effort that totally overwhelmed the Democratic establishment.
On Tuesday, I sent a complete summary of the event to TYT via email, including contact information for follow-up with young progressives who won seats in Southern and Northern California. Other than the automatic “Thank you for your Feedback” response, I have heard nothing from TYT.
What happened last weekend is huge news, which will be of great interest to progressives everywhere.
I know Cenk announced yesterday that he was going to be gone, but seriously, Ana again in the first hour? Man, it’s getting old. Obviously I have no idea of the inner workings of TYT and the reasons for Cenk to be gone, but right now, with so much important news going on, I would be happier if he were here.
Every year I get more and more worried that Cenk is going to take a back seat to hosting the show in favor of Ana and John.
They’re both okay, but I prefer to hear Cenk put things in context. And short of that, I at least need one of the older hosts whether it’s Jimmy, Steve, Ben, or Wes.
Whether or not I always agree, those guys and Cenk – though they’re not ancient – have a longer scope and experiences with which they can analyze a story.
John can let his intelligence blind him from more simple truths & Ana can hit on the broad strokes very well, but misses some of the more interesting angles and details.
I’m 29 but they’re just too millenial for my taste, Lol. I honestly care less to hear the news from my peers because I’m in that bubble daily.
I said you’re either paid or averagely deluded. Also, which NSA program had paid trolls? I don’t remember that one (and I did read Snowden’s excellent documentation) – thus, you’re probably doing false equivalence.
But sure – the US MSM is muuuch worse than state-run media in a totalitarian country. That assertion which you’ll probably deny yet have made several times, reveals you more than you know.
Totally agree. Cenk is much better putting things in context and does not spew a lot of PC rubbish. Ana & John spew a lot of PC talk and condemn any one who does not think as they do !
Ana think about if the rising cost of health care from repealing is just a Republican gift to the big insurance companies to give them even MORE money because you seem to forget they have no interest in the majority of Americans anyway!
So literally in the middle of the night as it is 11:58 p.m. on 1-11-2017 the Republicans are trying to repeal the ACA (Obamacare). They are tiring to repeal the ACA on a day that had a ridiculous number of major news stories which creates a huge number of distractions so people have no idea they are starting to pull their crap. MSNBC said they would not mess with the ACA this week earlier today, I guess that was wrong.
On the Press Conference- Every time I see that orange blob speak, I have no idea how anyone could see him as intelligent. He is a man child, period. Claiming that CNN is “fake news” is absurd. Do they use “spin”, of course. I also find it quite ironic that Trump didn’t seem to concerned with “Fake News” while he was pushing the narrative that Obama wasn’t born in the US. I actually get some satisfaction in watching him squirm and get sooooooo upset bc “people are picking on him”. Lmao MAN CHILD. Not fun when the shoe is on the other foot, is it. I’m actually looking forward to that aspect of his term. The “golden shower” story made my morning. I don’t even care if it’s true or not, it was damn funny to see him react. Little Donny, kicking rocks on the playground bc ppl are being mean to him. And the notion that our intelligence agencies should have blocked the story was even more hilarious.
On the ACA- Personally I feel the Repubs will- Give back the subsidies to insurance companies. Which was one major reason why the costs went up. Add some sort of voucher program for a specific age group. Take away the ability for the State expansion. Then call it Trump Care and say that more changes will come but they will take more time. So when ppl complain, they can say they are working it and it’s just the left over Obama parts that are bad.
Rex- This is prob the first and only time I will ever give Rubio credit. The actions against the Chechen ppl were most assuredly war crimes. Seeing as how Rex “doesn’t have sufficient evidence”, then maybe that would be a reason he SHOULDN’T be Secretary of State. How some ASSHAT from Exxon is able to even be considered for the position is lunacy. Which I guess is why it is so fitting for the Trump administration.
CNN is not only “spinning”; they create completely Orwellian fake reality on many key issues. CORRECTIONS to the press conference segment:
1. John claims that the “news” (more like fake news) came from two sources, but in reality it is just one source: bogus the DNC-paid smear job “intelligence” “report”. This notion is fake news in itself.
2. Not only Buzzfeed published slanderous rumour/hearsay, but did it a direct contradiction to their own crusade against “fake news”, a phenomenon that they boldly denounced just few weeks ago. Now they think, for example, me stating that “There is an unverified information that Buzzfeed’s editor-in-chief is a paedophile” is a way to go. Ana following John’s excuses for Buzzfeed’s smear job is sad. Not even wildly anti-Trump outlets such as NYT go this route.
3. John also distorts what Trump has said about the intelligence agencies. When Trump about the intelligence community he has talked specifically about the “leak” part, not about the publishing part. And, indeed, “leaking” disinformation was one of doctor Goebbel’s tactics, especially in the beginning of his career in Nazi government (later there was already less need to use those tricks, propaganda became a simpler thing due to the fact that the Nazi regime was already fully built). Ana, sadly, again follows John’s presentation.
4. CNN is definitely “fake news”, they intentionally published a smear job “news” (that, by the way, was not that hard to verify on the example of Trump’s lawyer) on this, they lied on DAPL protests, on Bernard Sanders, on Syria, on Libya, on Iraq, on Russia, on almost every thing they spread perverted propaganda. John pretend this did not happen just to make an excuse.
5. Ana makes invalid point on how Trump supporters thought that “fake news” was not an issue, that whole thing is made up as an excuse why Democrats lost, but now they are rallying against “fake news” themselves”. First of all, not only Trump supporters, but real journalists also think that “fake news” is a “fake news” story in itself in a meaning that establishment media presents it — news from non-establishment media, that yes, sometimes were fake, though, in reality, they did not play a noticeable role in the election. Second, REAL “fake news” is the mainstream media itself, they prove it almost daily, publishing false stories. Third, Trump and real journalists were talking about the lies in the MSM since forever, they did not just start “now”, the only thing that has changed is that they started to use the “fake news” phase against them.
6. Ana excusing CNN is not a valid argument. In a way CNN was worse since they tried to create a credibility for this smear job of a “report”, and you can see how ridiculous it is only with your eyes, reading it. And CNN had all possibilities to fact-check the “report” on the example of Trump’s lawyer that was totally in different place than alleged and it was confirmed by tho people who were with him at the time. There is no excuse for CNN.
7. John continues to MISLEAD viewers, saying that CNN and Buzzfeed is two different sources, while in it is one and only source. Even establishment media reports that there was no two page addendum, that Trump was not briefed about this “report” at all (and no wonder: the intelligence community had it since October, why would they only bring it Trump now, and not earlier).
8. Ana chooses Washington Post to be as example of media that Trump has banned from his campaign as a bad thing. Poor choice since it is a smear propaganda tool, consistently releasing intentional fake news. They did not just do “critical reporting”.
9. John comes up with an fake equivalency proposition with his example on if Amy Goodman was treated the way CNN reporter way. There is no chance that Democracy Now! would be doing all of the Orwellian reporting and smear hatched jobs that CNN was doing, so no, it is not feasible to imagine this scenario.
10. Ana suggesting that Trump is afrain of CNN’s question makes no sense. This CNN’s reporter would have ask the same questions about Russia and the allegations that other journalists were asking. Trump’s point was that he was not going to award CNN with answering to any of their questions. For him at the moment it was no different than for Obama answering questions from Daesh/ISIS publication (in fact, Obama signs extra-judiciary murder orders on their journalists/media people, even if they are the citizens of the USA, and even their 16 year old family members).
TYT continued to discuss the story during second hour, and there were corrections to that segment, too: https://tytnetwork.com/2017/01/11/tyt-hour-2-jan-11-2017/#comment-127550, including the funny part where John, believer in conspiracy theories with zero checkable evidence behind them, accuses right-wingers in the same.
COMMENT ON RUBIO grilling Rex Tillerson (15 points):
1. TYT is siding with neocon/neolibs narrative (ZERO progressivism in that), and doing as horrible quality of reporting on international matters as almost always.
2. the definition of a “war criminal” would include causing deaths of people in illegal wars. But Crimea case was peaceful, in Eastern Ukraine Putin helped to withstand an assault by literal neo-Nazis that came there to subjugate/kill those who did not accept the USA-backed coup in the capital of Ukraine, and conspiring the only country that Russia bombs is Syria, where he was invited legally, versus what Obama does, there is no rational way to claim Putin is a war criminal. So what Rubio/TYT spread is neocon/neolib/StateDep propaganda.
3. The situation in Aleppo is described in a totally Orwellian way. REALITY: the CIA-backed terrorists invaded the city in 2012, there was no “rebellion” or “popular uprising”, and by now the city is finally liberated, people were celebrating it and thank their government, Russia, Iran, Lebanon and Iraq for helping them to achieve this goal.
4. By the time Russia has joined the war in Syria directly the overwhelming majority of terrorist-held part of Aleppo was long depopulated. Over 600 thousand people have left the area shortly after the terrorists came. Schools were used as headquarters for terrorists and as production facilities for chemical and conventional weapons as it was recently videodocumented after the areas were liberated.
5. The claims of the death of “thousands of civilians” comes from single-man UK operation sources that collects and translates jihadi Twitter feeds where they claim that nearly every of their terrorists that was killed was a civilian. Of course, there is no doubt that civilians are also dying, but the figure that propaganda spreads is based on no evidence, let alone verified or independently sourced in any way. By the way, Russia was not conducting air strikes on the area since September, and yet the Orwellian media continue to brainwash people with their disinformation.
6. Rubio spreas 9/11 Truther style theory on how Putin has bombed his own country to get ratings and go to war against Chechnya, but it is even way more absurd since the war has actually started MONTHS before the bombings when Wahhabi/Salafi caliphate in Chechnya has attacked neighbouring region of Dagestan, to what Putin has quickly responded military, of course, and this was highly supported by the people of the country. There was no need for him to arrange any bombings neither for ratings nor for an excuse to wage war against Saudi’s puppets.
7. By the time when the army was used on the city of Grozny, which is the capital of Chechen region, over 300 thousand civilians have already fled the place. So Rubio implying that the army has attacked civilians is AMAZINGLY ORWELLIAN. And no, there is nothing even remotely reliable in the 300 thousand death tall figure that Rubio cites. It is a claim that is based on nothing.
8. Ana ignorantly sides with Rubio on his propagandist smear job, and even adds more baseless claims on “deliberate attacks on civilians”, which makes no sense considering the fact that the length of the front lines in Syria is many hundreds of kilometres long, so even if Russia would want to be evil and attack civilians, there is barely enough forces to attack real targets (the more so since Russia only uses about 2-4% of its air power to conduct the strikes).
9. Ana adds starvation and torture, but Russia has nothing to do with that. This is claimed against Syria, not Russia, and the claims are just as questionable as other claims. As to starvation: terrorists in Aleppo have stolen humanitarian aid and stored it in the basement of schools and hospitals where they had their bases, it is videodocumented, all while people were starving.
10. John claims that there is no hypocrisy in his approach, but I never heard him or Cnek or Ana calling Obama a war criminal, even though there is much more basis to make this claim, comparing to Putin.
11. Rubio continues with another conspiracy theory on how Putin has ordered murders of countless dissidents and journalists. AGAIN: with no evidence whatsoever, and even without no motive since there are thousands of opposition media and politicians that vilify Putin for many years and nothing has ever happened to them, unless they were else engaged in something else, for example, in attacks against Caucasus region, what has brought a bloody retaliation.
12. John refers to Russia as an “authoritarian regime”, while in reality there is no more basis to claim that in regards to Russia than to, say, the USA. Terms have definitions, and John disregarding them for a smear attack is propaganda. Russian political system does not match to criteria of an authoritarian regime.
13. John claiming that the USZ do not appoint Secretaries of State without international experience is LAUGHABLE, considering the fact that the only international experience that Hillary Clinton had when she was appointed was cocktail parties and repeatedly lying about being shot at in Bosnia. Tillerson has categorically more experience, dealing personally with over fifty heads of states.
14. John also pretends he did not hear the case for Tillerson, while Trump himself has citied his international experience more than once, let alone C. Rice, R. Gates, J. Baker rooting for him (though they all work for a lobbying firm that is contracted by Exxon Mobil, so it does not mean much).
15. Unlike the kingdom of Sudia Arabia, Qatar and the USA itself, neither Syria nor Iran are really “state sponsors of terrorism”. This is purely Orwellian political StateDep’s nonsense, and the fact that John uncritically spreads it is sad.
ANA AND JOHN ARE INCORRECT in the conflict of interest story: no experts think that the anti-nepotism clause applies to president and vice president. Such are laws; she and John are conflating what would be the best practices with the “above the law” narration, which is false in this case.
CORRECTIONS on Trump’s healthcare plans story:
1. The part where Trump discusses just how much Obama care costs will increase this year was cut so John could make a point on how much costs grow all the time anyway, even though such drastic spikes are not precedented.
2. John and Ana did not mention that Trump’s official stance that protections against pre-existing condition excuse to not cover people will stay.
3. The fact that Trump has also discussed the need to negotiate drug prices during very same conference is also not mentioned.
This is not a fair and objective coverage that Cenk has promised.
The general message from Trump is still the same: Full repeal before any replacement and no extensions.
In the press conference he was lying, just as he did on the campaign trail because you cannot keep parts of Obamacare while repealing it fully without a replacement.
2. By your definition Putin is as much a war criminal as Obama for what he did in Chechnya, Syria, Georgia and Ukraine. Remember the MH Flight shot down by Russian troops?
3. 15 million terrorists (6 million refugees+ 11 million living in rebel controlled territory) is a large number of terrorists. You should revise the number down a bit. And by the way even the Russian government does not consider them terrorist having invited them to Astana including Salafist Jaish Al-Fath. By the way what is you opinion on this: http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2017/01/russias-new-favorite-jihadis-the-taliban.php
4. If that was true Turkey would have not registered 1 million refugees from Aleppo alone (600k inside Turkey and 400k in the border region) who fled just since January of last year due to severe Russian bombing.
5. Assad admitted this himself a couple of days ago on French TV. He also boasted of committing war crimes forcing Fillion, the guy who made it his mission to rehabilitate Assad in the West, to distance himself from Assad and demand him gone. Do you dispute him?
6. Dukvakha Abdurakhmanov agrees with Rubio and he sucks Putin’s cock for a living.
7. Lt. Gen Shamanov disagrees with you.
8. I trust Assad more than you when it comes to who committed war crimes in Syria and he own it.
9. Assad’s Information Minister admitted to stealing aid and pursuing a starvation policy. I believe him.
10. They called him a war criminal.
11. That is fact not fiction. The nuclear material used to kill Levitinko only comes from one place in the world and he had one visitor and that visitor was a registered spy.
12. How many independent new outlets are there in Russia? How many political parties that can campaign freely? Who monitors the election?
13. Clinton was on two committees that have direct foreign affairs experience for 8 years. Before that she was the first lady involved in numerous international initiatives especially relating to aids.
14. Three oil lobbyists rooting for their paymaster. How original.
15. Maliki disagrees with you (until about 2011) on Syria and so does the Lebanese especially the Christians after what Assad Sr. did to them in Zahle (I thought Assad was not sectarian).
The shia death squads that murdered 45000 Sunni civilians before 2008 were directly backed by Iran let alone the off shoots of the IRGC which bombed Israeli embassies and Jewish cultural centers, Kurdish targets and even the holy mosque in Mecca. Check out the videos of the Hashd militias right now decapitating sunni civilians and boiling their heads.
1. Right in this video hosts uncritically go along with all the neocon/neolib talking points from Rubio. Cenk has always did the same, too.
2. The wars in Checnya, Georgia, Syria are legal. Ukraine is a more complicated case since after the coup country has lost legitimacy and Ukraine’s legal president has officially issued request to Russia for military help, which legally makes situation “gray”. On the other hand, Obama openly wages illegal wars, and multiple of them. Only some of the seven countries he bombs have requested military help. MH17 flight is also unclear case as the evidence that supposedly points that the missile system was brought from Russia is questionable, as well as the angle under which the rocket came to the plane. So no, on such dubious grounds, it is not possible to claim Putin is a “war criminal”.
3. The numbers you provide make no sense and the rest does not contradict to my point whatsoever.
4. You are confusing Aleppo region with East Aleppo, so those figures you cite are irrelevant.
5. Assad confirmed what? How Assad boasted “war crimes” in relation to Fillion? Your phrasing in this point is not detailed/clear enough, so I can not comment.
6. Someone agreeing with Rubio is not a counter point to what I wrote; irrelevant.
7. Shamanov never audited amount the human loss and could not possibly “disagree” with me on the refugees from Grozny. They are on video, in the reports, documented. The fled the war area. It does not mean that there were no crazy people at all who decided to stay anyway, but this was a minority, mostly consisting of Wahhabi/Salafi cultists who were family members of the terrorists. Nothing like “300 thousand” that StateDep and its PR puppets claims with zero evidence.
8. I watched several Assad interviews and he never admitted to any war crimes there.
9. If you mean Qatari/Turkey/UK-owned, CIA/Mi-6-vetted “defectors”, then you can also believe that Saddam had WMDs and was tied to Al-Qaeda. Equally reliable.
10. Never heard that.
11. Fiction so far. The claim that this particular type of polonium only comes from one place is disputed, and the victim has been in the hands of Mi-5 for years, supposedly doing underground deals/work for them within criminal/Mafioso circles. And he has had not one, but few visitors, one of which was exactly the kind of guy, and he was also radioactive materials expert. That there could be a radioactive materials smuggling ring and some heavy blunder has happened. The issue with this case, however, is that almost all of information available on it comes from the UK government/secret services that are documented liars for political purposes, it was never contested in a open court, never cross-examined by an independent expertise and laboratories. And there is also “secret” evidence. Similar to how Stalin using Kirov’s death to accuse the UK for it (many decades have passed until the case was cleared and no spy assassin work was found to be in the works).
12. “New” outlets? It is an arbitrary criteria, it makes no sense. The fact is anti-establishment media have way bigger visibility than in the USA. The number of parties that get finances from the budget for their campaigns is several, depending on threshold of their popularity. Elections are monitored from observers from over hundreds of countries, as well as with thousands of cameras. However, just as in the USA, ultimately, there is no true democracy as too many aspects are controlled by the establishment. That said, Putin has always had from high to very high ratings, so the authorities in Russia are both legal and legitimate (which is not the case for the USA regularly: Obama’s ratings sometimes plunged below 50%, and Trump starts also with a negative).
13. Hillary was never a member of Foreign Affairs committee, the only of her roles that is close to that is OSCE, but this is a mostly nominal, limited scope role. There is no comparison to Tillerson in terms of actual experience in top level international relations.
14. True, but this does not contradict to my point that that John incorrectly claimed that there was no case in favour of Tillerson.
15. None of those cases constitute sponsoring terrorism. Maliki claiming that Syria was intentionally passing terrorists was not in any way confirmed in terms of “intentionally” part. Where it was intentional in reality, such as Turkey, it is a totally different case. Turkey has supplied/supplying weapons, trains terrorists, takes them on vocation and to their hospitals. Nothing like that was done by Syria. Other cases mentioned are StateDep version of events.
The numbers are questionable, but yes, Iran does support Shia militias, not only Iran: “US generals in Iraq used Shia death squads (patterned on those of El Salvador, a war I covered) to crush Sunni resistance”. Any shia-related bombings in Mecca are as old as forever, and the fact that you had to refer to 2008 on death squads shows that StateDep has to stretch quite hard to seriously make claim that Iran (let alone Syria) are supporters of terrorism.
AlterNet has the best coverage on Syria. Authors such as Max Blumenthal, Ben Norton, Rania Khalek, so on. Sometimes establishment media such as NYT, WP, the Guardian, though in general they are pro-regime change. Iranian, Lebanian, Israeli news outlets, journalists within Syria, including Syrian, RT, Channel 4, Reuters (though in general they only have video contractors), experts like Joshua Landis, and many more.
For starters, you might want to read this WaPo article: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2bRZsv2rlw — it comes from pro-regime change outlet, so there is no way to claim that this is Assad/Putin’s propaganda.
I’m pretty sure that me and you came to an understanding that you would no longer comment on my posts and I would in turn do the same. Obviously I was wrong about that. So I will say this, me and you will never agree. Two different mindsets. I prefer to see the positive side of TyT, you SEEM to only focus on the negative. I didn’t read, nor do I intend to read any of your comments. If you continue to comment on my posts I will make sure and save an auto reply so I can simply copy/paste. I tried to enagage you in civil conversation before, and you choose to unfairly label me and be rude. So unless you are apologizing for those unfair labels and rudeness, I see no reason to try and engage me in conversation. If you see this reply as being rude or unfair you to, well, you reap what you sow.
You do know that he’s either a Russian paid troll (check his twitter, http://twitter.com/doers) or a deluded Russian. Either way, he pushes a pro-Trump agenda by retweeting such gems as,
—
Paul Joseph Watson @PrisonPlanet
The dodgy dossier has handed Trump yet another crushing victory. Will the establishment ever stop self-sabotaging?
—
So don’t think he won’t reply to you – he has an agenda with a clear, pro-Putin and pro-Trump slant. It’s cleverly packaged as an edgy liberebel attitude (Glenn Greenwald retweets), but the totalitarian mother Russia peeks out underneath.
1. a great way to smear those who do not agree with you “paid trolls”. So you are Snowden-exposed NSA paid troll then.
2. I agree with this particular tweet (the media has been self-destroying with fake news), but in general things I retweet are not endorsements whatsoever, so you trying to shame me with this is a ridiculous smear.
3. I am systematically critical of Russia and Putin, as well as of Trump, so your attempt to claim that I am “pro-Putin” and “pro-Trump”, is baseless.
4. there is nothing totalitarian in “mother Russia”. Terms have definitions, and you misusing them is a neocon/neolib propaganda smear.
Hey Dave, thanks a ton for your reply. Totally makes sense now! I honestly didn’t know that. I just figured he was one of those ppl who simply refused reality. lol Appreciate the info, makes it just that much easier to ignore him. Now I kinda wonder if he is this 400lb man that we hear Trump refer to. Hmmmm. Hope your day goes well and thanks again. :)
1. This is an open forum where people reply to each other, so it would be strange to suggest otherwise.
2. I never gave an indication that I will not read/reply to your posts.
3. No one has to agree with anyone on anything, it is totally fine, and it is not required at all to post an answer. Imagine a discussions when such rule would exist; it would make no sense, there would be no purpose in it.
4. Do not forget discussion is not only for two (or more) people that are directly engaged in it, it is for readers also. They can read your points, then they can read my points, then points by someone else and come up with their own estimation of what it right for them.
5. I do not “only” focus on negative, I sometimes make positive comments, too. Sadly, since there is so much of inaccurate reporting, those positive comments are rare in comparison. This should not be this way: for example, in Kyle Kilinski’s Secular Talk and James Dore show the ratio of critical/complementary comments is totally different since in general their coverage is way more accurate.
6. You still did not apology for bringing up incorrect suggestion that I “seem to be extremely pro-Russian” which had nothing to do with the substance of the points that we discussed, which is a neo-MacCarthyite tactic of going off-topic, even though you did not consciously mean that. I was “rude” in response to that; so it makes no sense for you to expect my apologies.
7. If you want to play copy responses game, I will save this response of mine, too, and will post it as a reply to the copies of your responses, if you will make them. Though I think that such game makes no sense since no one forces you to read my responses and reply to them. As I explained, the forum is not just for two of us.
DDerSS I have asked you repeatedly to stop commenting on my posts. Since you refuse to do so I have prepared this msg so I can simply copy/paste. Actually commenting on your blather is not worth my time. Here is an article that I feel everyone should read. https://darkpsychology.co/troll/
It explains types of trolls on a psychological level as well as defines them. These are a few examples in the article that caught my eye.
“This Is My CAUSE” Internet Troll (Internet Mole Person): “Person who defines themselves solely by their “cause,” and spends countless hours blathering on and on about it to anyone on Twitter, Facebook and blogs. They have a Google search set and hours each day to devote to blogs and they do that to leave comments about their “cause.” Which no one cares that much about. Or is a one-sided thing and almost always involves emotional manipulation and impassioned catch-phrases to get the very annoying point across.” (The Band Back Together Project)
Amazon Trolls: “Posts something negative, be it about the story, the writing or even the grammar, whilst the natural instinct is to respond, it is imperative that you avoid the temptation and instead, bite the bullet and take it on the chin. If you don’t, you potentially open yourself up to a world of pain. For the forums are also home to all kinds of trolls. And literary trolls like nothing than a sniff of a stroppy author. As a result, before you know it you could find yourself under attack and those attacks can be very personal indeed. They can also be relentless as literary trolls hunt in packs.” Doug Brimson, (2013)
Baiter: “A special place in hell could be reserved for The Baiter. This troll has a serious case of superiority, and always an ulterior motive. Whether posting one-off comments or engaging in back-and-forths, The Baiter always wants to bring the discussion back to their wheelhouse. A Political Baiter, for example, will always turn the discussion back to politics — even if the original post is about pandas or the trials of wearing socks with sandals. It could be anything benign, and The Political Baiter will make comments about the “liberal media” or “liberal elite” or “anti-intellectual conservatism” that take the original content to a different (often inappropriate) contextual level.” (Criminal Justice Degree Guide)
Bitter Troll: “Bitter Trolls are a curious cross-species. They can be trolls of any breed in their larval stages, but become Bitters after their previous activities are seen for what they were. What sets these trolls apart from other classifications is their behavior after they have been spotted and labeled as trolls. Angry, frustrated, and resentful about being “outed,” the Bitter Troll will wage a campaign of indignant complaints intended to focus attention away from the troll and on whomever is responsible for identifying the creature.” (2006 Ubuntu Forums , Trolls)
Mutt: “Alternatively known as Dogs or Yapping Dogs. Mutts are pack animals characterized by their loud barking – vociferous, repetitive, usually ignorant and irrational criticism of anything and anyone they do not like. Mutts frequently become obsessed with a few or even a single poster with whom they disagree, often for purely personal reasons. Like a dog gnawing at a bone, the Mutt will attack the object of its ire over and over again, making a fool of itself in the eyes of those who understand such childish behavior for what it is.” (2006 Ubuntu Forums , Trolls)
Comment Trolls: “We’ve all encountered the Internet Comment Troll. The delightful little creature who somehow always shows up in the comments section of blogs, websites, and social media services to show off his superior intellect and set the world straight. The Internet Comment Troll is an expert in all matters and always takes pains to spread his wisdom. He particularly loves to dwell in tech-related realms, where he enlightens reviewers and enhances their work with his insights. Were it not for the Internet Comment Troll, online comment sections might actually be a place for meaningful discussions.” JR Raphael, (2014)
Concern Troll: “A person who posts on a blog thread, in the guise of “concern,” to disrupt dialogue or undermine morale by pointing out that posters and/or the site may be getting themselves in trouble, usually with an authority or power. They point out problems that don’t really exist. The intent is to derail, stifle, control, the dialogue. It is viewed as insincere and condescending. The VineYard, (2007)
Contrarian Troll: “A sophisticated breed, Contrarian Trolls frequent boards whose predominant opinions are contrary to their own. A forum dominated by those who support firearms and knife rights, for example, will invariably be visited by Contrarian Trolls espousing their beliefs in the benefits of gun control.” (2006 Ubuntu Forums , Trolls)
Affected Profundity Troll: “A mutant subspecies of Sophist Trolls, Affected Profundity Trolls post endless pages of pretentious drivel that is intended to appear wise, but which generally makes little sense (if any). Affected Profundity Trolls enjoy asking themselves questions, sometimes answering them and sometimes leaving them hanging, for they believe this looks intelligent and lends an aura of mystery to their incoherent ramblings.” (2006 Ubuntu Forums , Trolls)
It is amazing that the conversation is actually devolving to Nazism and apparently in this case we are so steeped in fascism no one bothers calling foul.
Those non-hetero, non-white, non-Christian, non-moneyed, non-abled, non-compliant people that got gassed and burned by Nazis are literally the components of Trump’s basket of deplorables according to his own definition of the term. He literally deplores them, loudly, shockingly, mercilessly.
A key facet of fascism is the deliberate targeting of groups for persecution, enslavement, and murder.
Here is something else to ponder. Trump will never divest. He is going to provoke a constitutional crisis and risk immediate impeachment, and even then he might not change his mind and fall in line. I mean, how could he, realistically, given the hole he has dug for himself?
He is not really a billionaire, or if he is, much of that valuation is held in his puffed estimate of the name that people are trying to grind off their buildings now that he is a known potty-mouthed sexist, racist, and probably criminal louse running scams passed off as businesses.
Divesting will convert his assets into a single trust with a single dollar valuation. Oh, the agony to his ego when it becomes public knowledge just how yuuuge a liar he really is, especially now that the marketability of his name has evaporated, imploding his puffed estimate of net worth.
There might be other issues too such as unexplainable assets that do not square with his declared income.
I mean, sure, the MI6 intel was never verified, but deep down inside your gut you just know this deplorable has a whole rack full of skeletons just waiting to fall out of his divested portfolio.
Be honest with yourself, you just know it.
So what Trump proposes instead of disclosing and divesting is to merge his capital interests with the government in a novel experiment where the leaders of the US can now own a significant controlling interest in the US.
That is literally the definition of fascism.
I see visions of the founding fathers all rolling over in their graves like Christmas spinner turkeys:
True, Trump is never going to divest, but he is not obligated to, according to the laws. He is subject of anti-nepotism law, however, so him appointing his son in law to an adviser role is questionable, though also not illegal since this is just a consulting, not an administrate/executive role within a government. No different from William Clinton appointing his wife Hillary to the healthcare reform communion in 1990s. So the chances for constitutional crisis in connection to either of those two issues are not real.
Trump is billionaire, though, apparently way less in number than he has claimed: analysts estimate his worth at about $2.5 billion.
Tump’s skeletons have already came out. The intelligence community and Democrats have already did all they could to de-legitimize him. There are chances that there is something else left, but they are not big. Trump’s issues are going to be things that he is going to do in his presidency. If he will tumble too much and leave openings for legal issues with the way he government the establishment can easily decide to impeach him, and it is going to be a disaster since Michael Pence is a neocon maniac and religions fundamentalist, and, unlike Trump, a hard-line ideologue, not a malleable deal maker as Trump.
The lawyer that Trump brought to the press conference has explained in detail that things like hotel payments can not be legally considered as gifts and has said that Trump Hotels will forward the money to the treasury for that anyway, so she has covered the clause on that too. Some scholars, however, would continue to argue that it might be not enough, but with such construct it would not be a clear way to pursue Trump for this, things become way more vague. In such situation Trump would raise riots if anyone would try to impeach him on that.
It could be totally different case if Trump will commit some new gross violations and corruption, which is possible, that could be clear enough for the parliament to make an impeachment case against him. Then Michael Pense is going to be president to the great pleasure of all neocon maniacs and the establishment, so Trump’s only hope is that he will not be stupid enough to be covertly corrupt this way.
Do your paymasters pay you by the word or by the character? Either way, keep up the good fight of spreading disinformation for that authoritarian prick Putin.
Do your paymasters pay you for your neo-MacCarthyite one-libers? Either way, keep up the good fight of spreading disinformation for that authoritarian prick Obama.
Actually, McCarthyism is so 1950s; Joseph McCarthy died in 1957. After having been censured by the Senate for his activities he died a discredited and hated man a few years later. Pick up a history book sometime.
Your previous post was MacCarthyite. There is no evidence that Putin is “authoritarian”, the more so “thug”.
Even if you did not vote for Obama, by denying an deflecting criticism of him and his government via neo-MacCarthyite tactics you are effectively spreading disinformation on behalf of the corporate establishment.
@TYTNation @TheYoungTurks I donated $127 yesterday for the tytnetwork.com/go and can someone tell me when do we get our new tyt watchers on the wall t shirt? I where a Large by the way
You want to know what Trump is going to do about health care? Step #1, repealing Obama care. Step #2………… er…………. Whatever it is, it will be fabulous, everyone says so!
I figure that they are trying to repeal the ACA (Obamacare) on day one because they hope the voters forget in the 2-6 years before they are up for reelection.
My wife has M.S. and currently our heath care is through the Medicaid Expansion we will not forget. I have been self employed for the last six year but have been tiring to get hired by a company with decent heath care the last number of months it’s not easy at 41. We’ll be at Bernie’s Rally at the Macomb County Community College South Campus in Warren Michigan on 1-15-2017 do what we can.
I think there are a fair number of Trump supporters who would say they like the Affordable Care Act but not Obamacare because they think it’s two different things. Trump will repeal Obamacare and replace in an hour because it won’t take long to change the name from Obamacare to Trumpcare.
There’s a facebook post thats been making the rounds because a Trump supporter on ACA said (s)he couldn’t wait to get rid of Obamacare. So it definitely wouldn’t surprise me.
While CNN didn’t publish the scurrilous and inflammatory allegations about Trump and his dealings in Russia, it did a Breaking News announcement revealing the existence of the allegations. Buzzfeed obliged by publishing them. By briefing Obama and Trump on these allegations and then leaking them to media, the intelligence agencies set this up and the media has been manipulated into covering the dossier assembled by a paid operative of both the Democratic Party and anti-Trump Republicans. These allegations are completely unverified and anonymous. Some of them have since their release been proven false. You guys need to do more research before you go on line with a story like this. I have no love or even respect for Trump, but this type of reporting can give journalism a bad name. The intelligence community has a long history of manipulating the main stream media. Please don’t join them.
Oh for crying out loud. The US mainstream news is the largest purveyor, by far, of fake news. Just look at how the middle east is covered. Us and Israel are always the good guys, everyone else is the bad guys, unless they’re al qaeda in syria, oops I mean the “rebels” and are fighting assad, then they’re now the good guys too. Crazy.

Fuk MSM! Now they know how Bernie Sanders supporters feel….
I’m watching some clips of the Jimmy Dore Show. Seems as though it is what TYT used to be like. Being critical of the government and mocking the mainstream media and so on, not just running with the establishment narrative all the time
totally
I think it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hypocritical that this senator can fuss about Putin being a war criminal, when the US military has done the same or worse. I fucking HATE this hypocrisy. The war crimes tribunal has consistently tried to bring American leaders to justice. We simply refuse. I would say that TYT failure to point out this hypocrisy is one of their great weaknesses. This guy (again, how gross are some of these old guys???).
Acosta was really shaken up. Even enraged. I would have been, too. Let’s hope he and others can hold on to that rage. This is quite terrifying.
With this administration, Designated survivor doesn’t seem like such a horrible event

Yet, it appears TYT has no interest.
Good points, all. I am unhappily rethinking my membership…..
Thank you. When my TYT membership expires next month, I’ll be reallocating those funds to Amy Goodman and DemocracyNow.org.
TYT has deemed themselves obsolete IMHO.
I know Cenk announced yesterday that he was going to be gone, but seriously, Ana again in the first hour? Man, it’s getting old. Obviously I have no idea of the inner workings of TYT and the reasons for Cenk to be gone, but right now, with so much important news going on, I would be happier if he were here.
totally agree!
The understudies again?
Erm… (1 point) …LOL!
Can we please have an auto-hide function for long winded posts please?
(I got a cramp in my finger from scrolling down so much on my phone.)
Ugh, I hate it when there’s heavy political news stories and Cenk isn’t on the show.
I agree.
Totally agree. Cenk is much better putting things in context and does not spew a lot of PC rubbish. Ana & John spew a lot of PC talk and condemn any one who does not think as they do !
wtf where is Cenk???
Sadly, TYT has uncritically spread FAKE NEWS.
*Sorry, I, so to speak, miswrote: I meant to business divesting clause, not the anti-nepotism one.
These experts do think nepotism laws apply:
http://www.salon.com/2017/01/10/no-consensus-on-anti-nepotism-law-and-kushner-appointment-2/
As I explained above in a update, I did not mean anti-nepotism laws: https://tytnetwork.com/2017/01/11/tyt-hour-1-jan-11-2017/#comment-127576
The commenting system does not allow editing, alas.
1. Prove it.
By the way what is you opinion on this:
http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2017/01/russias-new-favorite-jihadis-the-taliban.php
I am very curious about your sources. (And I don’t mean that in a disbelieving way)
The amount of information mentioned is huge; sources on what specifically?
I am interested what news outlets you get your information from in general.
But more specifically I am curious about your sources on Syria.
These are just a few. :)
I see visions of the founding fathers all rolling over in their graves like Christmas spinner turkeys:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ywTcBSXAiQ
Actually he would be breaking the constitution on day 1 of his presidency if he does not divest:
http://www.salon.com/2016/12/21/conflicts-on-top-of-conflicts-another-emoluments-clause-that-should-bar-donald-trump-from-office/
He just opened the door for republicans to impeach him if does not toe the line.
Agreed. These Neo-Libs frustrate more than Neo-Cons infuriate me.
McCarthyism is so 1960’s, get over it Neo-Libs. Focus on reforming the Democratic party instead of blaming others for America’s failures.
Actually, McCarthyism is so 1950s; Joseph McCarthy died in 1957. After having been censured by the Senate for his activities he died a discredited and hated man a few years later. Pick up a history book sometime.
There’s nothing “Neo-MacCarthyite” (sic) about my “one-libers” (sic). I think there’s plenty of evidence that Putin is an authoritarian thug.
And I don’t spread disinformation on behalf of Obama; I never voted for him and have no use for him.
Thanks. You put my thoughts into words. I am having a mild ‘news’ crisis concerning TYT, and am questioning the value of my membership.
@TYTNation @TheYoungTurks I donated $127 yesterday for the tytnetwork.com/go and can someone tell me when do we get our new tyt watchers on the wall t shirt? I where a Large by the way
Anna’s boobs look big.
I can hardly stand to listen to her Neo-Lib, Democratic establishment rants, but you just talked me into watching today’s show anyways.
The NSA, a multi billion dollar, privatized, massive information collection organization, that has not prevented one terror attack.

You want to know what Trump is going to do about health care? Step #1, repealing Obama care. Step #2………… er…………. Whatever it is, it will be fabulous, everyone says so!
Exactly, also
So literally in the middle of the night as it is 11:58 p.m. on 1-11-2017 the Republicans are trying to repeal the ACA (Obamacare). They are tiring to repeal the ACA on a day that had a ridiculous number of major news stories which creates a huge number of distractions so people have no idea they are starting to pull their crap. MSNBC said they would not mess with the ACA this week earlier today, I guess that was wrong.
I figure that they are trying to repeal the ACA (Obamacare) on day one because they hope the voters forget in the 2-6 years before they are up for reelection.
DO NOT FORGET!
I’m sending up some prayers for you, and loaning you my guardian angel as well :P, for what it’s worth. Good luck.
Thank You
We could fire him!
This guys gets it
Tillerson, who hasn’t met with John Kerry, or had lower members of the transition team meet with ANYBODY!!!What’s 1/2 a trillion got to do with it….
Great new shirt!
Crazy.
Was wondering the same.
What happened to Aggressive Progressives Show?
Jimmy has been very ill with the flu for the last two weeks. He did do his pod cast and premium shows but he sounded pretty rough still.
Randallayers, How did you set your little avatar pic? I’ve been trying to figure it out but not having much luck. You seem to have cracked the code…
I honestly don’t remember. But I will find out, oh yes.
I’ve heard that Jimmy allegedly has Parkinson’s disease and “the flu” is just an excuse he’s giving for his failing health. Sad.
