  1. I really hope that the $2mil mark is reached. I learn more from your show than I ever have from the mainstream media and I can’t wait to see how much that grows when you hire even more reporters and camera people and so on. good luck!

    1. It comes from the awful trump tv broadcast (shown on fb live) they covered a while back. One of the people on the panel (I guess he was supposed to be an anchor) shouted it for no apparent reason

      1. I think it was a nickname for one of the poor schmucks working on the Trump campaign. I think they meant it as a bro thing.

  2. Trump’s Time magazine cover: I agree that Time looks at every aspect of their covers. Trump is not looking straight forward at us, but we are seeing him from behind with the chair between us. He is a bit hunched over as he looks at us in a wreck of an expensive chair. Time put the president elect in a chair that is falling apart: the back at the top is both threadbare, and seems to have pieces ripping away from the frame underneath the upholstery (or whatever that weird stuff going on at the top, because that is not the embroidered design), the cording is falling in several places, there seems to be a stain on the seat, and the gilt seems is rubbed off in places.

I think the statement is there. Unless the shot is ‘live action’ I cannot recall having an object between the person of the year and the viewer on the cover. Also, I cannot recall an object being sooooooooooooooo shoddy in any of their set-piece overs.

Trump presents his wonderfully gilt residences for the public to see….and we only see the front opulence and presented. I find it rather subversive that Time pulled out a chair-his chair mind you-and let us see the ratty underpinning behind the glossy front.
How many people would ever have the opportunity to do that!
This man is a billionaire? He cannot take care of his stuff, and he does not notice his poor condition furniture being used for a shot that will define him forever.

Oh Good On You Time Magazine.

  3. Within every 4 year period, The Young Turks grows to much greater levels.
Hell, roughly every 2 years you start to see the changes.
Look at TYT today in 2016 & compare them to TYT in 2012.
Then compare TYT in 2012 to TYT in 2008.
Then compare TYT in 2008 to TYT in 2004.
They jump by leaps & bounds.
Just look at how the studio changes.

TYT in 2002, TYT in 2004, TYT in 2006, TYT in 2008, TYT, in 2010, TYT in 2012, TYT in 2014, TYT in 2016.
Go back & look at the videos (or audios in the case of their early radio days) & see how dramatic they progress.
By 2020, TYT will be HUMONGOUS & will probably be able to openly challenge the big mainstream networks.
And this campaign of Cenk’s is just the ticket to get them there.

Shoot, I bet we see TYT’s mid-point growth by 2018.
So I’m DEFINITELY in support of this campaign to restore journalism on a major level from the internet world.
TYT won’t be alone of course.
Places like Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now, TheRealNews, H.A. Goodman & Tim Black, Sane Progressive, New Progressive Voice, The Humanist Report, Boyce Watkins, The AdviseShowTV & many many others will also shine the light on the corruption.
And in fact TYT may assist & cooperate with these numerous outlets to get the truth even better.

I have forgiven Cenk & the others who shilled for Hillary out of pure fear.
It wasn’t a sellout. They were just scared.
I have already donated my $27, my Bernie number, to help out this cause.
Periodically I will add more funds to help you reach this goal.

The TYT Network is VERY important & I’m glad I never lost sight of that even when many of you guys went astray when Bernie bowed to Hillary.
Cenk never silences his dissenters on his network.
Jimmy Dore could speak his mind even if he disagreed with the Boss.
And Cenk’s hiring of Jordan Chariton, Eric Byler, & Emma Vigeland was PRICELESS!

You guys know how to make internet media work & you guys have the numbers, the audience.
I will help reach your next level of growth.
I will fund this TYT Army until the mission is complete.

    John Lucas

    1. Bernie is a long-lived independent candidate who suddenly switched horses in the middle of a winning streak and lost.

Bernie surfed the wake of Hillary’s donor-funded media coverage and got framed in the news as a gun-toting communist dupe leading a band of gullible pot-smoking Bernie Bros.

He would have been better off staying independent. At least then he would have had a chance of winning. Joining the Democrats was tantamount to conceding the battle before the first shot was fired.

  4. We are members but are not contributing any more until TYT starts acting far more progressive as they exhibit some major blindspots. We need TYT to be far more verbal in support of the situations below and others similar to them:

    Examples:

    1) We find that TYT is not consistent with making pleas for people like Chelsea Manning. We tweeted TYT this a.m. and yesterday and we also sent an email to TYT regarding the crucial whitehouse.gov petition for Chelsea, but no one has retweeted nor responded to us. Please mention this petition plus please in general frequently update viewers on Chelsea’s situation and what viewers can do to support Chelsea. The fact that TYT has not been mentioning this crucial petition makes us question TYT’s commitment to people like Manning who NEED support of progressives.

    2) We are concerned about how serious TYT is about expanding coverage as we feel TYT has been negligent in the past about very important issues, e.g. Michael Hasting’s death which clearly was suspicious at best. Soon after it–it being a murder in our book–occurred, TYT was silent. This is a pathetic state of affairs, and TYT should be constantly advocating for justice for his death. This relates to the weak support we feel that TYT has given to people like Manning, Assange, and Snowden. We feel TYT needs to play a key advocacy role for all of these whistleblowers.

    3) We wish there were a way to contact TYT on the phone to ask questions about immediate, serious concerns. E.g. Wes Clark in N.D.: He had tweeted yesterday a.m. about several mercenaries following him, but that tweet has disappeared as well as a subsequent tweet by him re: mercenaries. In addition, Twitter has deleted the post by someone who had screenshot the original tweet Wes sent about the numerous mercenaries. TYT needs to take action ASAP on things like this, finding out WHY these tweets were deleted, who was pressuring Twitter or Wes or whoever to delete these tweets.

Until TYT starts giving the above concerns consistent voice, we cannot see supporting them further as we need to know that the above causes will be supported before funding additional journalists since if TYT is not MENTIONING crucial people/issues/situations above, how do we know that investigative journalism related to these issues will be funded and conducted by an expanded TYT?

    1. I am a member and I have contributed as well. I do not expect TYT to answer to me nor do I want them to. I expect them to continue to investigate and present all their stories accurately. I expect them to determine what they report on WITHOUT consideration for what I or any other contributor wants to hear. I do not expect them to support any causes. I expect them to report the truth without a personal agenda. If I want bias I will turn on the TV.

    2. I don’t agree.

      1) Everyone has a petition. The job of TYT is to cover stories to raise awareness, not to peddle petitions. Of course they pick a few causes that they have the will and passion to back (which here we see they want to back more with our help). How many important issues do you think can they feasibly push like they do Wolf-Pac? They have to cover everything somewhat and selectively choose the few they are passionate about to hound on. That’s life.

      2) If you think it was a murder, that’s an opinion you can have and advocate, but they have time to make it a passion project like Wolf-Pac like you seem to want. They might not even agree it’s as big an issue as you see it, and that’s okay.

      3) No way. That would be abused to no end, even if TYT had enough manpower to support a phone line. Do you not see the trolls running around harassing TYT everywhere? Also, do you really think TYT is just totally unaware if anything major is going on with Wes? He’s a major founding member. They’re probably in way more direct personal contact than you watching twitter from the outside, and I’m sure they care deeply about Wes’ safety. If something was going on or needed to be done, they’d be talking about it way before you got suspicious yourself.

The fact that they didn’t also pick the 2/5000 major issues that you personally picked to push nonstop, or the fact that they won’t give you a personal line are not viable grievances. That’s just my two cents, though.

  5. Cenk. Don’t let them to define the conversation. That company employs 60,000 people. Here’s the question, what percentage of that 60000 works in the United States? That’s the real conversation. Not whether he saved 800 jobs or 1300 jobs. If you assume that the only jobs in the US are the ones that were talking about, then that’s like 1.6% of the total employees employed by that corporation. With 5 to 6 billion in government contracts and only 1.6% in the us. That’s the real conversation.

  6. War on X-mass is so lame. Cenk is right, our celebration of X-mass is really a Winter Solstice thing. Experts on the Bible who study the stars and any clue they can get, say Jesus would have been born in the spring.

  7. When I was little, I always thought “happy holidays” referred to xmas and new years. I think we should spread this idea so we don’t have to listen to this was on xmas crap anymore.

  8. The implications of veterans (the US army) being commanded by someone other than a US general is huge — civil wars are started with less. TYT STRONG!

  9. i Love tyt but all the pipeline stuff is crazy and mostly factually untrue. They are the safest way to transport oil. Should they go under a water source of thousands, probably not, but to say they all leak and are inherently unsafe is a flat out lie.

    1. No literally every pipeline leaks or breaks at some point during their lifetime. They may be more safe than transporting oil by truck or rail but it is still dangerous for the environment just having oil being pumped from the ground. Just in ND and SD over 300 pipelines have broken in the last 5 years dumping millions of gallons of oil. The DAPL pipeline was showed to have flaws which is why it was rerouted to Standing Rock away from the capitol. It’s just a matter of time before it happens.

  10. Great show as always! I set up my monthly donation a cpl days ago when I got an email from Jordan. Once you get the hoodies back at the shop maybe you could make a special edition hoodie logo, charge 5$ more, and put proceeds toward the 2mill. Every little bit helps! :)

  11. For the new reporting team, my guesses are:
Nomiki Konst, Katie Halper, Shaun King, and possibly Lee Fang. Would also love to see someone like Chris Hedges or Cornell West become a regular.

  12. tried to donate. can’t do it if you live in another country. schoolboy error. tyt could be missing out on a lot money because of the way the donations page is set up

  13. How about a membership forum so we can really get organized? A decent comment section would be a good start. Being able to comment on specific stories would be so nice. Editing a plus. Like AND don’t like buttons or something to that effect.

  14. I’ll support from a membership standpoint so long as TYT remain accountable to the people and their sources are credible!!

  15. Thanks…yeah I was referring to the public view…mobile view isn’t the greatest, but found the social share buttons..!

masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen

    1. Bernay’s is Sigmund Freud’s nephew. His book on PR is literally called Propaganda- back when they were honest about what they did.

    2. Wow, Rick ~!

Amazing compilation. I was pleased to see that I consume almost none….just
      from movie divisions.

Life has been much better since I executed my TV. Wish NPR were better of course.

      ~UPAYA~

  17. I wonder if John and Kim both thought of the Soldier 76 quote when Cenk said “A target rich environment”

  18. There is nothing new in this story on the Carrier deal. It was known from the day one that Trump’s deal will only save part of the jobs, not all of them, so citing people who were among the unsaved ones is not news. The fact that there will be small $7 million tax incentive versus $65 million that they would have saved by moving all of the jobs to Mexico was also known. Even the fact that only about 750 jobs will be actually saved from known right away. TYT just did not research it enough, hence did not report it sooner.

And Cenk comparing manufacturing jobs to service economy jobs that pay way below the actual minimum wage and require government’s payments to make up the difference is not a fair or objective coverage. Especially since such jobs will most likely will continue to be created under Trump, too.

    1. The critiqus of Trump for his EPA head’s choice are necessary, but the Cenk does not mentioning the fact that Obama has financed fossil fuel projects valued at $36 billion and that Clinton’s picks are also pro-pollution is not fair or objective coverage.

By omitting such context over and over again Cenk is making people deluded into thinking that Clinton would be a better case even in policies where she would be better only slightly, if any better at all. There are always countless stories like this, including, famously, the flag burning story where TYT did not mention the fact that Clinton not only has the same position, but has offered herself a law on that, which was even more draconian than that Trump is suggesting.

      1. Eh I’ll give Cenk the benefit of the doubt on that one. I think like all of us, covering something day to day. You can sometimes just miss the stuff you’ve already said. Lets also add the fact TYT has hammered the Obama administration over its inaction when it comes to the environment. Lack of funding to the EPA and other regulators hasn’t exactly helped either. We can thank Congress for that.

        1. You are right about the Congress, but there are too many cases where Cenk does not provide context, and this is what makes it an unfair coverage.

For comparison, Kyle Kilinski’s Secular Talk show holds the same position as Cenk that Trump is a lesser evil, but Kyle does not make it sound that Clinton would be better when he critiques Trump in cases, where she would be almost or just as bad, or even worse than Trump.

If TYT would follow similar approach the brand would stand much stronger; the more so Cenk has personally promised that TYT would do objective coverage. So far at too many times he does not deliver, and this makes his main show too similar to Huffington Post that also gets outraged about Trump/his picks’ acts and words without any context on what Clinton/her picks would do.

          1. No ethical journalist is going to keep beating your hobby horse. The election is over. They have to look forward.

      2. We already know the clintons and obama have not been good on climate change or much else. Doesn’t make them as bad as trump. Stop with the false equivalency.

        1. I never said that they are equally bad (on the contrary, I wrote that they differ). Stop with inventing positions of others to win over them.

  19. Sargon of Akkad with his mediocre video editing skills and third grade insults is obsessed with slandering TYT on a daily basis. No matter how many times I say “Not Interested”, Youtube keeps recommending him. Now that I’m a member, I can watch TYT without that crap popping up.
    Too strong!

    1. I ran into Red Pill the guy who just hits TYT videos on a daily basis, and only takes the first few minutes of a video into account. Talk about cherry picking. Such as the Trump team back peddling from the wall comments.

  20. You give me hope, I help you hire investigative reporters. You keep it coming and so will I. Amazing deal. Thank you, TYT.

      1. Abby has her own show on “socialist” Latin America’s TV channel, I am not sure she will benefit just from moving to a different place.

  21. Just donated and I’ll make it monthly. Please don’t use the Washington Post as a source. I should believe a source that did 18 negative stories about Bernie in 24 hours??? They’re the worst of MSM.

  22. Holy crap! Been so consumed with DAPL, I completely missed Ohio’s outrageous abortion bill. Abortions illegal after a fetal heartbeat can be heard??? WTF??? fk fk fk fk fk

Totally excited about the fundraiser for more investigative reporting. Hopefully, Cenk is doing the hiring. Donated and will donate more after xmas. I agree with the other person, social share icons would be great on the member pages.

Also, do they really not read these comments? There are usually so few and being member comments, I would think someone could breeze through them everyday.

  23. TYTnetwork.com I have a few small suggestion:

    1) #trumpistheswamp or #trumpismistheswamp
    2) Define the above, spread it like wild fire.
    3) Keep being awesome.

  24. >have been building up to this announcement for 2 weeks
    >it’s literally just a fundraising drive

    >could have been something awesome
    >could have had real progressives like bernie and tulsi on the show
    >I was hoping it would be them coming on to support wolfpac
    >or interviews with them to talk about the plan going forward

(I donated $27 to the fundraiser btw when I got the email a couple nights ago)

    1. Agreed. I’m definitely going to donate but I can’t help but be disappointed that the “big” announcement is we need money.

    1. “The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels

  25. You websites and Posts do not have Social Share media plugins….this will make it easier for members or readers to share your content….if you do t have anyone on your team savvy with website plugins, let me know and I’ll volunteer my service to walk you through it…

    1. that might be because social sharing plugins wouldn’t make sense for members only pages and posts. or were you referring to public posts?
