Grace Baldridge is joined by the entire Murder With Friends crew- Amir Nikoui, Cassie Hanks, and Elle Kuan- for part 4 of the “Campfire Series.” Elle tells the story of murderer, Angela Simpson, who tortured and killed a disabled man.
I had not heard of Angela Simpson before. I gotta say though… I think MWF does us a disservice with these 10-15 minute segments. I’m sure these shows are a lot of work to put together, but there must be more info on Angela Simpson that what was shared here. Keep up the good work… all I can say is… I want more!
I got into Murder With Friends on youtube a few days ago. I definitely binge-watched all of the videos over a few days which was…probably not the best idea but I did come across this episode fairly quickly. I’m obviously fascinated with this stuff and how the brain of a killer works so I ended up taking abnormal psychology about a year ago. I’m from Arizona and as it turns out my professor for that class interviewed Angela Simpson multiple times and my class spoke about her quite a bit. I know you do not have time to go into her story at length but she is a truly terrifying person.
I’m so addicted to this show! Every time I finish watching an episode, I just want more. You could put out an episode every single day, and I would still want more. It’s not only my weird fascination with true crime, but paired with Grace’s really wonderful hosting abilities, it is the best show on the internet. And it’s the best true crime show anywhere, rivaled only by Homicide Hunter (on ID), with Dateline (Keith Morrison episodes mostly) being third. It’s not just Grace, but the whole crew that makes this show wonderfully engaging. You ALL deserve awards.
Keep up the great work! I always try to share the episodes when they come out on YouTube with my family and friends. I will make converts of them all.
I’d love to see you guys do a video about Gary Ridgway, who probably killed more people than any other American serial killer. There’s also the interesting Bundy tie in that was one of the inspirations for the Hannibal/Will Graham dynamic
I actually think that it is has less to do with what societal expectations of gender and more to do with biological differences in levels of testosterone. I don’t know about Angela Simpson, but I have a female cousin who has psychological issues and has tried to kill me and a few family members since the age of three. Since the age of three she has been extremely prone to violence. She had an alarming amount of natural strength that only increased from age. It was discovered that she naturally produces an unusually high level of testosterone for a female. Once she started taking medication to regulate her testosterone levels, she became a completely calm little girl and for the most part is a calm woman now.
I think part of the reason why men commit more extreme murders is because of how boys and girls are raised. Boys are taught to never show emotion, that they are supposed to be “strong”. Women are allowed to be “weak”, show our emotions, and no one thinks as much of it. But you still hear things like “boys don’t cry”, “you throw/fight/whatever like a girl”, etc. We still group together “women and children” as the weak victims in any situation, even nowadays when women fight in militaries.
So men bottle up emotions more, and when you add mental illness into the mix, when that bottle explodes, it can do so in much more extreme ways. Power is certainly part of it too, but I think much of the difference in methods can fall back to not being allowed to show certain emotions.
I just started watching and ended up binge watching all of them. There was a serial killer from my town, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Lee_Yates
He buried one of his victims outside of his bedroom window in his flower bed……
Just thought since you ask about serial killer stories.
I had not heard of her. I understand that this was a rather macabre case. I suspect this lady is a violent psychopath who had her first kill when she was caught before she could be known as a serial killer.

I sense that Cassie was trying to communicate her love to me. You didn’t let her speak enough.

*gender are
Anyway, i am more of a nature over nurture person.

Good point. I remember reading a study somewhere that proved violent male offenders had much higher levels of testosterone than “normal” males.

I would be interested in an episode of Ed Gein (The Leatherface). I think he fits in this show.

Murder with Friends is quickly becoming my second favorite TYT show after the main show
Definitely a psychopath. Which is a mental illness by the way.

Yes, but she claimed to have killed others before but they never got her to confess to who she has killed previously.
