Grace Baldridge is joined by the entire Murder With Friends crew- Amir Nikoui, Cassie Hanks, and Elle Kuan- for part 3 of the “Campfire Series.” Grace tells the crew about the “Butcher Baker,” serial killer Robert Hansen.
I think it was in the show The Following (with Kevin Bacon and a lot of fun because it is beyond ridiculous) that they do an episode or two about this guy. In fact I think they even called him some form of “The Butcher”. He had a cabin, hunted his victims and kept trophies as well. Different from the real guy, the 0one in the show was also a family man and it was his son that ended up breaking the silence with what his dad had shared with him. That said, I did not know until this MWF that it was based on a real case. Thanks!
BTK was caught because a local newspaper ran an article about his two family murders. BTK was unable to keep from taunting journalists and cops and sent a letter to the newspaper. Through that letter, the cops and FBI were able to find him.
Also, the FBI profilers say that BTK didn’t stop killing for 20 years. The victims were simply single kills and not connected to his signature.
I can’t say how much I enjoy this series. I’ve always been intrigued by true crime, and there couldn’t be a better host for this than Grace. Please don’t ever stop doing this show!
You ask how would you escape. I think the more important question is, how do I not find myself in the company of a serial killer alone…I concentrate on that preventive measure
I’ve asked myself, what is the face of evil, what does it look like, how do you recognise it. I think I would know if I see it, but would I? It was interesting to see you react to a possible capture situation , and think about escape. Like you know it could definitely be coming. The victims saw it. When did it become evident for them?
What always blows my mind is when people like this are married, like Robert Hansen was. With two kids as well. I think the MWF crew portrayed him as more socially inept than he actually was because he was well liked within his community. It sounds as though he had a rough time as a kid though and that’s where his motivation for revenge came from.
Still really enjoying these! Glad you released them when there is little else to watch. I’m alternating between watching these and the facebook live videos from the Standing Rock camps.

Post the episode on him! Please don’t hold back content of such a good show.

Pardon me. It was a digital file he sent and it had a signature they were able to trace.

My idea for the show. Do one on Charles Starkweather. He and his GF killed a bunch of ppl in Nebraska, in the late 1950’s. Bruce Springsteen wrote the song “Nebraska” about that. https://youtu.be/hCpL_ImsiDo?list=PLEszdR_i6UyruiY474WcfcR8il-v3XQRg
