With the increase of crazy clown sightings, Grace Baldridge and comedian/Grace’s roommate, Jay Light, talk about psycho clown murderer, John Wayne Gacy. Gacy had a troubled childhood living with his alcoholic father. He would then go on to murder little boys, while dressed as a party clown.

  1. Being a gay man myself, this story hit a bit too close to home. I do not understand how you can have sex with someone you sexually desire then murder them. They said he climaxed as he murdered but where is that evidence? That’s some %#*(@$ $#%@!! $%%%. While this guy is utter trash, the pure hatred and revenge of the public also bother me. Celebrating the death of anyone is beyond disturbing. Let them rot in jail and die of old age so they can constantly be tormented by what they have done.

Ugh, while I hate horror movies and hate murders and whatnot, I somehow love watching MWF. It’s like this curiosity about minds quite unlike myself who could be so violent. To me it’s the mental struggles that fascinate me as psychology is beyond fascinating.

  2. My doctor met JWG while hitchhiking near Chicago. Doc says you could tell he was a weirdo.

It’s creepy how the neighbors were able to overlook the creepiness for so long. I mean. the dude’s house stunk of death, but they just let that go.

  3. What torture? Digging their own graves and a tied up with rosery beads. Plunges a knife into first victim. If you only knew this guy kept dead bodies in the crawl space, well that’s still all Ya know. I learned nothing at all. Last chance on this show. What a complete waiste of time.

  4. I feel bad for his sister. SHE didn’t kill anyone. It’s not her fault she’s left with those feelings. It’s unfortunate her brother did that to her. But I don’t think it’s to much to expect that she might still have been shown some level of compassion. Considering he had none. Is almost like the old frontier justice to make his relatives outcasts for his actions as well.

  5. Alright I had enough of this kid Jay Light! This MF can’t stop smiling and giggling everytime he talks about the murder and rape of teenage boys. Slap your self right now!

  6. Agree. I miss what his crimes really where only 1 word about a chord. Where they all killed by knife? I miss the crime itself.

  7. Can I make a small suggestion?
Please please PLEASE make the text bubbles on the little graphics in the corner bigger. It looks really cheap when the text is 60% out of it and it makes it really hard to read.
I love this show so much, but the production values could be a bit better.

  8. This is my favorite member show, I’ve been waiting for this weeks episode but it hasn’t been posted yet ???? The only thing to look forward to after the stress of the election.

  9. Great show, great commentary. I was finishing college and starting career during Gacy’s news cycle and remember it very dimly. Didn’t have a TV back then and never knew much about it. Did not realize how many he killed, who he killed or why. Now, thanks to Murder with Friends, I’m haunted by the horror of it all. Right time of year to be haunted, I suppose.

  10. Out of all the MWF episodes I’ve seen, this one I think has been the best. Jay seemed to come to the table with a lot more knowledge then a lot of previous co-hosts, who unfortunately seemed unprepared other than brushing up on a wikipedia page the night before taping, leaving Grace to really lead the episode almost solo. Make sure the co-hosts are hardcore prepared and familiar with the case they’re discussing.

If I could make a technical improvement to the show, using just this episode as an example, maybe have someone produce a detailed 3D rendering of Gacy’s house and basement and not just rely on sketches and old photos. Do that for each episode to really illustrate the scene of the crime to make the victims’ situation more relatable(?) to the audience.

Maybe at the end also list all the sources of your research so people who are interested can follow them up and read more on their own.

  11. I gotta admit I was excited for this show when I first saw it as I’m fascinated by psychopaths and their crimes. My honest opinion of this series, though, is not too positive. The whole show is just baseless speculation, and lacks professionalism and respect when talking about the horrific nature of these crimes. The show (imo – ofc) needs some tweaking to be more professional and in line with the topic at hand.

  12. I wish murder with friends was every dayy. It’s my favorite tyt show. I understand where grace is coming from, as the murderers families didn’t commit any crimes and are just as devastated (hopefully) by what their family member did. It’s a little ridiculous to expect people to call you and say I’m sorry for your loss but I can definitely feel empathy for her.

  13. Delighted w/ the show~!
    My guilty pleasure.
It’s going to take a long time to run out of material. Too bad that.
Even if you finish off all the serial killers from the US, the rest of the
world won’t run dry. Even so….there’s great literature to..ummm..drain.

  14. Jay, if a steady diet of serial killer biographies doesn’t affect you, then you, too, may have compartmentalized a bit more than you’d care to admit.

I remember reading that Gacy spent some time in Washington state, although I couldn’t find a reference to Washington when I skimmed the Wikipedia biography of Gacy just moments ago. Perhaps my memory is faulty or the author was more sensationalist than I had thought. Regardless, when I read about him living in Washington, I thought he probably murdered there also, but no evidence implicating Gacy in murder was ever found. Does anyone have any additional information concerning Gacy’s Washington-state connection?

At the time of Gacy’s execution, the crowd reaction outside the prison was covered live. The crowd sang, “Na, na, na, na. Hey, Gacy, good-bye!”

I’d also like to ask Grace and Jay if they have read any books by John Douglas or Robert Ressler? Both men worked in the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit and wrote books about serial killers and their motives.

Finally, would you consider covering H. H. Holmes? Even though he was brought to justice over 100 years ago, he did have a “murder castle,” operated during and after the time of Jack the Ripper, and was brought to justice by the tireless efforts of a Pinkerton man.

  15. Grace, when you described your relationship with Jay as being a “long time,” and then it turned out to be only 5 years, i had to laugh. time is so subjective, depending on the age of the person estimating it. i have friends of 50 years, and i’m only ( HAH, “only”) 62. one of my closest friends is now 42, and i met her when she was 6. the older you get, the quicker time seems to fly by. my days — and nights — come and go at a seemingly rapid pace. i now look at 100 years and think, “that’s not so long ago, really.” and it isn’t; it’s barely a silly millimeter long on the time scale, where humans come in only at the last itty bitty measurement on a loooong scale. dinos have us beat by millions and millions of years. now THAT’s a long time!

    1. Maxine, Joseph Heller had a character (Dunbar, I believe, was his name) in Catch-22 who had a strategy for slowing down the apparent rapid passing of time: boredom! Now, I’m not prescribing “boredom” for you, but it seems Catch-22 and 1984 are appropriate allegories for the present day!

      1. hmmm. i think boredom is the result, not the cause, of slow time. it boils down to not knowing what to do with oneself. i live alone, have for years, and am NEVER bored. in fact, i have so many interests that time seems to rush by as though i were sitting in Wells’s time machine, watching that mannequin in the window get redressed in the blink of an eye.

it brings up the question of the desire — or not — for immortality. i would LOVE to live forever, because i don’t think i would ever get bored. ever. there is simply too much to occupy time in one’s philosophy. knitting alone takes up so much time — it’s amazing what one can do with two sticks and a piece of string!

then again, that’s some catch, that Catch-22.

  16. I can kind of understand why his sister is upset because she only knew that one side of him and I’m sure he was great to her but something isn’t right with her either. You shouldn’t be able to cut yourself off from the atrocities someone committed just because they were good to you, ya know?

  17. This is my favorite story! It’s he is the embodiment of conservative sexual projection. It’s those who rule society using the social pecking order to make people second class citizens for being easy prey. It’s still done to stoners to this day. John Wayne Gacy is the core of libertarian ideology. Remove civilization and social resources so everyone has to depend on a fat evil pig who can use their wealth to isolate people and degrade them so they are easier victims. It’s very common in remote town that are resorts for rich people.
