  1. Love love love Grace. Love her new show. She doesn’t need a makeover. She’s beautiful on the outside and seems to be a very genuine person.

As for Hassan, he still has much growing up to do. It’s hard to watch him. He’s obnoxious, overbearing, rude, know-it-all and loud. I don’t know how anyone can be on a panel with him.

  2. I used to be okay with Hasan when I didn’t agree with him, but after that embarrassing episode of mansplaining I can’t think anything other than how beautifully unbearable he is. Wa siktir.

  3. Dictionary definition of “Mansplaining” should have photo of Hasan. Until I watched him go on and on (and on, and on) as the definitive expert on… menstruation ( ! ), I did not fully appreciate just how offensive Mansplaining can be. Kudos to Grace for handling it with enough patience not to haul off and just smack the guy. He deserved it.

Hasan is stuck in adolescence, unable to outgrow that period of young teenage boy’s life when he believes himself to be the expert on everything, whose views EVERYONE should be interested in. He shows no self-awareness in the very rude way he dominates the panels he is on.

At the end of any show with Hasan on the panel, remind yourself that there were 3-5 other interesting news stories that could have been covered, but which were NOT covered, because they ran out of time after Hasan forced us to spend 30-45 minutes listening to his self-important pontificating.

    1. That’s right

Cannot listen to hasan he is simply unbearable and the more we say it the more he revels in it I feel

  4. Downloaded this and as soon as I saw Hasan was on I deleted it. Not interested. (Sorry, Grace… you’re lovely but he’s not worth it.)

  5. Just you Hassan , Just you are more sensitive then women. A pretty boy more focused on him self the on the issues he is talking about. It is just a shot, simple injection and it is gone. Stop being over sensitive and behave like a man not a …… ( insert what you think is appropriate) Do man grow up ever in America or stay like small boys forever?

How annoying is to see that kind of the act all the time. Oiiii Oiiiii it hurt, it really hurt. This needle is sooooo biggggg. And a second later you talk about woman labor like it is a normal thing that they need to do so they should get over with.

Do you ever think what are you talking about Hassan?

I want Anna back the true power of the Young Turks matching Cenk without a doubt. Two equal strengths well balanced.

O and kick Hassan from me where it will hurt him the most ;) Maybe he will grow some balls finally and stop behave like a little girl. It is about the time. :)

  6. So I made my comment before I listened to the whole show. Hassan screaming over Grace during her intro is totally unprofessional and reeks of immaturity. I am a member of TYT for intelligent thought provoking talk and Hass ain’t that! His performance now makes me think you should just fire him. What would you prefer your brand to look like? Jordan Chairton or Hassan? I think that choice is pretty clear.

  7. Damn!!! Hass got hate…… then again he rambles, goes off topic, and his corollaries often don’t pertain to the subject matter. He really is unbearable and I have stopped watching when he’s on, and I am a listener that NEVER misses a minute of the show. Fact is he is the only TYT host that has that affect on me. I consider every other host to be exceptional in their own way, each bringing their own style and perception to the conversation. I’m middle aged and love the perspectives of the younger hosts, they bring a knowledge that isn’t in my own day to day life. But Hass man he’s just not ready for prime time. Let him host whatever other channel, but main show…he ain’t ready.

    1. I cannot agree more with you here, since I am a member I have not missed anything they put on the site, only PGs and main show with hasan

  8. Oh crap, I typed that before watching the show, which I now will not watch,
stop Hassing all over the main show, shit stinks

  9. that’s where you drew the line with the Catholic Church, nuns can’t be priests?
    that was the straw?
till then they were good with you?

  10. I don’t know how much more the members needs to make this clear; No more Hassan. TYT makes fun of nepotism, yet if he wasn’t related to Cenk there’s no way anyone would pay him for his “insight”, or lack there of. There has GOT to be something else he can do off camera at TYT.

  11. There are so many different kinds of birth control pill formulas, specifically so you can find the one that works for you so you can minimize mood swings and other unpleasant side effects. How are men going to have options if the research into those options is halted at the first sign of side effects??

  12. I love when Hasan is on the main show. I’m also beginning to suspect he is the ‘Has’ when Cenk says “Have at it Has.”

  13. First, I love TYT. In regard to the African American man and the situation on the bus in NYC. I am also a former cop. There are TONS of problems with the police forces in this country. I have seen many of them first-hand. There’s a reason I could not remain a cop.

However, the police in this instance probably reacted properly. I, of course, am unaware of NYPD procedures, but as a cop if you get called to an assault this is a reasonable response. The African American was handcuffed probably as a matter of routine policy. Again, I don’t know NYPD policy, but where I worked this was standard operating procedure when responding to an assault. He WAS NOT arrested, he was detained. Being handcuffed and separated from the other subject, the Latino man in this case, must be done. Only then, once both men are away from the girl and witnesses, can you question those who are able to provide information. Once that information is ascertained, can an officer of rank MAYBE decide to let one or both of the men go. In some places no police officer can make that decision.

Where I worked the African American man probably would have been taken to the station, questioned, and then an assistant DA would have decided whether or not to prosecute. This is because cops are not lawyers. They don’t get to decide what happened, who did what, and who deserves punishment.

Now, when I was a cop and I was faced with situations similar to this, I always explained what I was doing and why I was doing it. “OK sir, I’m going to place you in handcuffs now. You are NOT under arrest, this is just the department’s policy. I have to do this until we get a better idea of what’s going on here.” It’s not enough to say everyone around them was trying to explain. Because everyone around them is trying to explain, the situation on the ground for the officers is very confusing. That’s why the men and the girl need to be separated from all the witnesses, and the witnesses need to be spoken to individually to truly determine what happened.

The police could have perhaps explained their actions to the African American man better and reassured him. But in general, they responded appropriately.

Again, I am not trying to excuse any inappropriate police behavior. As I said at the beginning, I witnessed my fellow officers act inappropriately quite often. I was refused promotions and other career advancing opportunities (such as schools and training) when I rocked the boat. The events of the past several years have vividly demonstrated many of the failings of our nation’s police forces. But this is not one of them.

    1. I have to agree with you 100%. Until the police can make sure the scene is under control and reasonably sure no further violence will ensue, interviewing witnesses cannot occur. I found myself in a similar situation defending a woman in a parking lot from unwanted advances of an intoxicated man. When police arrived I was placed in cuffs and seated in the back seat of one of the patrol cars until they questioned the woman involved. I was released at the scene and thanked by the police officer taking off the handcuffs for intervening on her behalf. I didn’t like being detained in that fashion but it is just common sense to be safe.

  14. Sadly have to agree, no one is as unbearable as Hasan. I’d rather anyone else be on the panel….or no one.

  15. LOVE Hass, LOVE Grace, thought the birth control convo was hilarious. Totally wish they didn’t stop the research bc there are plenty of “forced” part time fathers out there who would have gladly taken a shot in the arm rather than 18 years of child support for a kid they rarely get to see or spend time with. If ur angered by my comment then your blind to the fact that SOME women do lie about taking birth control. All I’m saying, men do need/should have an option besides condoms or getting the snip.

  16. Just need to say, the black guy was Wonderful!!!! I have been assaulted in front of people and NO ONE came to my aid. he is a hero! My heart just sank and I feel sick that he was hand-cuffed! Thank god, the police sergeant finally had the sense to let him go.

  17. I stop watching the second hour of the show awhile ago because I lost interest but, has Ana given us as well or she’s on hiatus?

  18. Why does it matter how she presents herself? I am profoundly offended that a fellow progressive would assert that a woman must wear makeup and dress in a feminine manner to be worth watching as opposed to being valued for the quality of her views and expression. She schooled Hasan. THAT is why she’s worth watching. She’s a comedian, stop being so judgemental.

  19. Listening to Hasan talk about Christianity (and religion in general) is painful. If he truly did do research on the subject, he did not do a very good job of it. 1 Timothy 2:11 – 12:

“A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.”

Hence why some Christians do not believe that women should be in a place of religious authority. The example of seafood as religious hypocrisy (in selective reading of the text) is a terrible one, though the blame for popularising that one on TYT goes to Cenk. Matthew 15:10 – 11:

“Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

Hereby Jesus rejected the idea of impure viands, which is why such a tradition exists in Judaism, but not in widespread Christianity. One could be facetious and argue that Jesus also sanctioned oral sex of all kinds, though that is not the common reading.

Criticism of religion is so widespread that the intellectual standards expected are so low. Everyone and their grandma’s dog think they’re an expert. I’m not religious, but I’m not going to criticise things I haven’t properly educated myself on, including religion. There are, of course, plenty of things to criticise within many a Christian tradition, but the lazy “they’re all hypocrites” line of argument makes no one any smarter. It exists only to reinforce the pleasant illusion of “I’m an atheist, so obviously I’m smarter than any theist.”

  20. I cannot believe that I am paying money to listen to Grace and Hasan argue about contraceptives. They sound like teenagers–especially Hasan. I can’t watch Grace. I understand that she is a Lesbian who is Christian. And she says this on every show she’s on. I understand that, but she needs to wear make up, do her hair, and lose the buttoned up shirts. She dresses and looks like a disgruntled graduate student. I cannot believe that this is how she presents herself.

    1. If the men on the show don’t need to wear make up, do their hair or lose the button up shirts, then neither does Grace. I mean that is like every man on the show except the ones who wear t-shirts from time to time. Do they look like disgruntled graduate students? Is it unbelievable that they present themselves in this manner? For crying out loud, she looks perfectly fine.

      1. You’re comparing apples and oranges. It is not the same thing. I’m sure Cenk and Ben would gain more credibility if they put on lipstick and make up. It’s called Professionalism in the work place. The other journalists on the show–the females in particular-do NOT look like they just rolled out of bed. If Grace wants to be taken seriously, then she needs a make over and a new wardrobe. I am not paying for a college-syndicated TV show–which is where Grace really belongs. She has no presence, no conviction, nor does she posit a point of view or take a stand until everybody else on the panel has. Her insecurities stand out like a sore thumb. And it doesn’t help that her physical appearance reflects that about her.

        1. woah. you are missing the point of TYT completely if you think Grace needs to do ANYTHING to change her appearance. I think she does have presence and conviction BECAUSE she presents her true self to us. She is comfortable. She gets on with the job. WTF more can you ask for? Sure, she’s young and has still got to do some personal growing and learning about the world – BUT SO DOES EVERYONE! No one knows everything, at any point in their life.

Basically, I think you are very wrong to criticize her ‘look’ at all – this is a news and entertainment show not a goddamn fashion pageant. Grace can do whatever the fuuuuuck she wants to do with how she looks.

          1. Grace to do her hair, wear make up and change her wardrobe? Are you telling her to go to a rehab to change her sexuality too? What a weird pov you have man, do you use mirrors?

  21. I am hearing a lot that you guys receive a lot of criticism for speaking out on racial injustice and inequalities. I want to say that, as a black man, I really appreciate you covering these topics (like Uber descinimation, and the guy being arrested on the bus after defending the teenage girl) and (as I always say) you read my mind with the level headed, “both sided”, egalitarian, perspective you take. I think its necessary to keep our fingers on the pulse of these issues because in other countries discrimination has become so insipid in the culture the “de facto” “matter-of-fact” judgments that we as humans make with each other through our implicit biases, become codified in legal discrimination which then lead to bigger problems that prompt uprising and revolutions down the road. So, in order to prevent that, good on you for highlighting these stories as frequently as you do. Also you are the primary source though which I get my news, then I go on to read the articles you cite in your stories. So, never doubt how integral you are to some of our lives out here in the real world.

    1. I appreciate his points for a balanced perspective. Hey I get a bit uncomfortable when Cenk and Hasan dig on Grace for having faith, I think faith is the most important ingredients to maintaining sanity in this world, and they kind of attack that. I also get uncomfortable when Hasan says some things that are “cringeworthy”, but given time in both cases, when they are allowed to say their piece fully, I can appreciate their logic, and this is most important. Also, important, not to be dismissive of others points of view.

    2. I can’t help but laugh at the smirk that Cenk has, as we basically see Hasan go through Cenk age 25-30 on live broadcast. what’s that term we use here… Unbearable.

  22. So I have to dock you guys some Credibility Points for leaving out some pretty crucial information in the birth control discussion. At best you guys were uninformed on the subject. They didn’t just stop the trials because of “some bad headaches”. They stopped the trials because some men essentially became infertile. From CNN:

“Still, there were problems. After 52 weeks in recovery, eight participants had not returned to fertility. The researchers continued to follow these men individually, and five eventually regained normal sperm counts over a longer period of time. One volunteer did not fully recover within four years.”

This really seems like something you should’ve mentioned.

    1. Came here to mention this as well. The story was woefully misrepresented and it’s just one of many first steps in male contraception. Hass on the other hand, what a total ass. He should try to take some time and learn to be thoughtful. All in all, the Pop Trigger folks are very unpolished and meander through their points which is fine for their channel but for second hour stories I find it’s not helpful to have that many uninformed people on a panel. It should just be called mindless conjecture and I’d be fine.

Solid recs for Science or analytical talks:
Kim, Brett and Wes can handle quite a lot and step back for bigger picture. They can keep things on track with facts and field the opinions. Strong Moderators.

      Political Recs.
Cenk, Steve, Ana, Dave, Jordan, Micheal, John all day every day. They are the strongest in terms of opinion and can handle such topics. Jordan should be in the mix more, he’s great!

      Every-Man/Woman pov recs.
Ben, Ben all day cause he’s awesome. Hannah, Grace, Sam S, Francis and some of the behind the scenes staff are excellent.

      Wildcards.
Jimmy, Kenny, wish we could get John Fueglsang back too.

      Last and most useless.
Hassan. No offense buddy, you are just one hot pocket that’s still frozen on the inside. Some more time listening will make you more useful. Your writing is great, you preparation is adequate but your presentation is a mess. Calm down, don’t talk over people, ask more questions and build points. Good luck H.

  23. TO ALL THE HASAN HATERS:

Instead of rushing to judgement or hatred for him, take a step back to try & understand why he may be that way. Remember, he was a really fat kid, the traumatic experiences he would have had growing up might give us some insight as to why he has certain views or acts in certain ways. You might say there are many people who were fat growing up, but everyone is different & has had different experiences. Everyone will develop differently even if there are some common threads.

Try instead to understand why instead of always downgrading him.

    1. When you look past the unbearable parts, he really is a gentle soul & has a good caring heart for others. If you read any of his HuffPost articles, you’d be surprised at how funny & intelligent he is (really) which tells me that when he has time to think & doesn’t speak off the cuff, he really is brilliant & performs much better. Also check out his breakdown videos on TYT homepage, proves the same points. Really well done with very good insights & humour beyond what he is able to show on live stream.

    2. I was a fat kid, and I’m not a misogynist dickbag who treats women like prizes to be conquered. I don’t give myself any credit for being a human who sees other humans as also human, and I don’t give Hassan a pass. Being decent is the bare minimum. Try to rise above simple decency and become good. Drop below decency and be ridiculed and hated. He should grow the fuck up and stop blaming other people for his own problems.

    3. Calm down, hardly anybody on here actually hates him, he is just unbearable to watch and listen to. Fair point on where he may be coming from, but the feedback on his appearances has been pretty consistent, his behaviour gets on people’s nerves. The purpose of the main show is not to cure his insecurities, people watch for grown up content and conversation and he’s just not there yet… He may be at some point, and I wouldn’t begrudge them putting him on once every 6 months or so, just to gauge where he’s at, and rest of the time keeping him on tasks that he is clearly succeeding with the audience on like his FB posts. But right now its just way too often and he does not seem to be taking any of the feedback on board (and a lot of it is really well-meaning advice from members that want to see him do better). Every host has their quirks, but they can actually show different sides of themselves and not come off as consistently disrespectful to their co-hosts, that’s what drives a lot of people crazy

  24. FUCK YES GRACE. damn i love that woman.

I’ll ‘number out’ some points for the gentlemen of TYT as to why some women ‘choose’ to use birth control. Please read this as condescendingly as possible, because if you’re gonna talk about it, you should have done some research first:

the main purpose of ‘birth control’ is to keep hormones (primarily estrogen levels) steady so that during the middle of the cycle, the woman does not ovulate and produce an egg for fertilization – when not taking any contraception, ovulation causes a spike in estrogen, which can be great for higher brain function in some, can make some ladies get real horny (peak baby making hormones=extra horn), but it also can cause pain (reason 1) in their actual ovaries prior to egg being released, especially if they have cysts on their ovaries (not an uncommon problem, see below) because then ovulation pain becomes a certainty.

If women carry out their period ie, do NOT skip the sugar pills portion of the month, while taking birth control, it drops all synthetic estrogen levels so the uterus can shed it’s lining – ie bleed. Fast hormonal disruption causes horrendous and truly debilitating migraines (reason 2) for many women. Those who don’t experience menstrual migraine will probably still have headache and cramps (reason 3) anyway – headaches, again from hormones, cramps because the uterus is a big ol’ muscle that is just pumping away inside our pelvis’, trying to squeeze the contents of it’s shed walls through the cervix. Fuckin ouch. For some women, when these muscle contractions push against the muscle walls of the pelvic floor, they constantly feel the need to pee and so go to the toilet when they don’t actually need to, and this can develop very real urinary problems which are hard to fix later in life – no one talks about this aspect because girls’ bodies are gross. Ew. (clearly fuuck thaaat)

Then we have the medical conditions the contraceptive pill alleviates: PCOS (occurs in 10% US women aged 20-40) is polycystic ovarian syndrome – cysts on one or both ovaries (usually both), hurts to ovulate, excessive facial hair, higher testosterone, terrible body and face acne, menses are heavy and gross and painful, can cause infertility if left untreated (reason 4); in about half the cases, causes insulin resistance, which can lead to obesity and/or diabetes, again, if left untreated (fucking. hormones.) Menorrhagia (reason 5) is excessive and heavy bleeding accompanied by the above mentioned pain – many causes, hard to diagnose, sometimes no cause, but one which can also lead to infertility and cancer is endometriosis (reason 6), which, hey – the pill can help alleviate symptoms of and give you time to undo the damage to the uterus by the disease if you catch it early enough so that by the time you want to have children, your own body might not reject even the idea of carry a baby to term. If you have any kind of brain neurodiversity (ie adhd) or mental illnesses, the hormonal drops which occur can also greatly impact the hardest symptoms to deal with (reason 7) , such as depression, concentration, frustration (speaking on adhd here, not sure about others specifically). Grace’s decision to take the pill for her skin (reason 8) is totally valid since the up and down of estrogen levels which occur during normal ovulation, also fucks up skin/causes breakouts and those nasty ‘under the skin’ painful pimples are more likely to occur from hormonal changes.

This is where I prove I know my shit – I have ADHD, PCOS, insulin resistance, and get migraines – so i skip the actual period for up to 10 months at a time so i can remain functional in society without needing days off for debilitating migraine pain which is very hard to quell with painkillers. I get the nasty ‘lets go to hospital’ kind of migraines. yippee. I would love to try cannabis but i’m in australia where it’s harder to find but also interacts with my adhd meds. YAY. so i ‘choose’ to take the pill in order to gain a modicum of control over my crazy body so I can keep up the social contract of being able to work, socialise and be a part of the world – the most annoying thing though – since i’ve found the solution that works for me, is the frickin COST. $70AUD covers about 2.5 months if you skip the bleed (and new research shows women who don’t want to get pregnant can definitely skip their periods with no ill effect, have one a year if you want… always check with your doctor though, obviously) the medical shit I know outside of those bits which I’ve gone through, comes from the Urogyneacology/womens health specialist I live with – mum.

rant over – just shits me to TEARS when dudes wanna talk about how birth control ‘is a choice’ – yeah it’s a yes/no choice for many; but for lots of women it’s more likely a ‘if you want to feel like a human again, pay the money, get the pill’ kinda choice.

I could go on about later ramifications and costs to healthcare systems when women aren’t properly treated (where there is a need) with synthetic hormones early in their childbearing and teen years because they can’t afford it at the time and that the contraceptive pill should at least be affordable or tax deductible, if not free… I could also talk about how ‘sanitary’ items like tampons and pads are TAXED (in Australia, under the GST, 10% extra on the price; USA also… cant remember all the details but the Nightly Show used to do some coverage on that) so the (not cheap) stuff we need to buy to protect our clothes and the world from seeing our blood gets taxed while (in australia) shaving goods for men are NOT taxed on the GST because they are ‘necessary items’, while pads and tampons are ‘luxury items’…. ooooh damn i’m getting riled up again.

woah that’s an essay. basically, grace was great and shut up duuuuudes, and get some learnin’ in ya. i still love all my TYTs but knowing some facts never hurt anyone ;)

      1. Damn that was fascinating to read..I am 42 yrs old and dont know half of this about my own boday..still, hate contraceptives, used them only when very young for a brief period of time, no good for me. every body is different. Plus, i dont mind some extra hormones (for extra horn)

      2. Damn that was fascinating to read..I am 42 yrs old and dont know half of this about my own body..still, hate contraceptives, used them only when very young for a brief period of time, no good for me. every body is different. Plus, i dont mind some extra hormones (for extra horn)

    1. YES. And some women take the pill for the certainty. There’s nothing quite like having a late period when you don’t want a kid. The anxiety vs the side effects were always an easy choice for me, but I’ve been lucky with side effects and I have an GED, so the choice was clear. A friend of mine has the same deal but the side effects were debilitating.

  25. According to religious scholars, Mary Magdalene was one of the disciples of legend, as bound to Jesus as any of the others and, apparently, even given some authority over other disciples. Also, in the early church, long pre-Rome, there were significant female leaders of congregations of Christians about which some historical (rather than merely hearsay) record exists.

  26. One thing’s for sure… the whole audience now hopes Hasan signs up for as many birth control studies as possible.

  27. woah did cenk almost miss the wave at the end? haha that would be funny to see the other hosts do it and cenk being too slow or forgetting lol.

  28. In the past I have reported and Uber driver (in the ride feedback in the app) for missing a left turn at a light and hence adding additional cost to the trip. Uber examined the route, agreed with me and refunded me AED 14.00 (US$ 3.81) which was the difference between what I paid and what the trip should have actually cost. I am curious what happened when women complained about being driven “through the same intersection multiple times”.

  29. I have to admit, whenever Hasan is on, the file gets immediately dumped and I do not watch the rest of the hour. I also find him so unbearable that the segments are unwatchable.

  30. I like all of the host. They are young and it will take time to develop etc. I’m willing to be patient but maybe it’s because I’m a boomer. I enjoy all of the conversations and listening to the different perspectives. I would much rather listen to Hassan and all of the other young hosts than anyone on MSNBC or major network. My favourites are Jimmy and Jordan:)

  31. I frequently skip watching news segments featuring Hasan because I find him so unbearably distasteful, but I was watching live today and thought I’d give him another shot. What a mistake.

Hasan has a bad habit of hijacking segments for long periods of time, offering up uninformed, inflammatory opinions that desperately lack substance. Today was a perfect example, when he railed against Grace before she was even able to introduce the segment on male birth control. Jaw-droppingly unprofessional.

TYT has a diverse panel of hosts and cohosts, and while there are some I don’t care for as much, they occasionally surprise me with interesting insight. At the very least, they’re considerate, respectful, and intelligent. Hasan is none of these things. Seriously, why is this guy still on TYT at this point? Nepotism? Please. I am begging you. Take Hasan off the air. He’s obnoxious, immature, and an embarrassment to your news network.

    1. Man, I totally agree. I really wish they just kept him as an analyst or something.

I also hated the side comment he made regarding Jimmy Dore. Sure Jimmy has his faults, but atleast he doesn’t come off as someone who has about as much analytical insight as a first semester social science student.

    2. Thanks for heads up, will skip the download on this one. Totally can’t listen to him for more than about five minutes…

    3. Cosigning this and all the comments in this thread. Hass ruins your videos guys, every panel he’s on goes off the rails with side conversations and grating hot takes. Just seems like he big-foots all the topics, it’s making me avoid whole episodes. Keep him on Pop Trigger or get him to learn the producers job so he can build an actual appreciation for how difficult it is to put on a show. Maybe then he’ll be more cautious about his behavior.
