Ivanka Trump boycott. Syrian child sweat shop workers in Turkey. Trump’s Hollywood star smashed. Sheriff Joe Arpaio charged. Teen files defamation suit over “ugly hair style” ridicule.
Funny, first time I ever heard of Sheriff Joe Arpaio was an episode of Penn & Teller’s Bullshit about drug prohibition. The part that sticks with me is him dismissing people’s opinions about pot, that it didn’t matter if it was or wasn’t harmful because it was against the law, repeating “it’s against the law”slowly to emphasize his point. Funny how quick that changes when HE disagrees with the law.
I think folks often underrate their consumer power and the REAL DIFFERENCE that they can make! I haven’t spent my hard earned progressive dollar at stores like Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Hobby Lobby nor Home Depot, just to name a few, in years. I have also switched energy providers to a 100% Texas wind powered service provider (4 Change Energy), replaced all of the light bulbs in the house with energy efficient light bulbs, purchased more energy efficient appliances, replaced all of my gas powered yard equipment with electric powered equipment and hope to have my Tesla 3 parked in the garage as soon as possible next year. As for banking, I also stopped banking with Chase just last year and moved my banking needs to a local Credit Union. Imagine if we ALL did these kinds of things more regularly, using our CONSUMER POWER to push the progressive agenda…WOW what a difference we could ALL make!!! PEACE!!!
Cent is wrong about the usage of the Word “Luegenpresse” in Germany. It is become common again with the rise of the AfD – Party (Alternative für Deutschland) which followers are thereby stating their total loss of Trust in the German press. – Love your Show – Dirk Martn
I already sent an e-mail to them a few days ago about this, when Cenk got that first wrong and they said they would pass it up the line… apparently not as far as Cenk. ^^
Sadly, there is no real feedback. Almost nothing ever gets back to Cenk, and he does not read comments either. The only chance for Cenk to hear any corrections/critiques is if accidentally stumbles upon those in Twitter.
As another example, in this show in a segment about children of Syrian refugees working for almost nothing in the sweatshops in Turkey Cenk needlessly brought Russia, where is no such issue. The reality is that Russia’s average income is way higher, so there is no way to make clothes as cheap as in Turkey, so there are simply no such sweatshops; basically no brands mass-produce clothes in Russia.
So it is no wonder that I have yet to hear the stories about a children of those people working in sweatshops, even though Russia has taken about a million of refugees from Ukraine (thanks, Obama) and even a small number from Syria (it is too far away and too cold for the majority of Syrians). Not that there are no labour violations in Russia; of course, there are, but they are almost never about child labour.

Regarding boycotting Ivanka’s clothing line:
Ana: what’s most important is that you do whatever you are most comfortable with.
I think: No, comfort and ease are not the highest values. Sometimes the best thing to do is the thing that you are a little bit uncomfortable with, even sometimes, hugely uncomfortable. Sometimes ethics, citizenship, a great relationship, raising children, ask us to be extraordinarily uncomfortable, sometimes, the great result requires giving up a little comfort. I’m sure I’m going way too far with this. But Ana all-to-often says random things that she hasn’t thought deeply about, and I am concerned for all the folks hearing this stuff, that they may internalize it.
The accepted default of comfort about all else is something we should question.
Voting with your dollars is yet another thing allowing the rich to shout louder than the poor. I’ve been boycotting proctor and gamble since I was 12, i’m in my 30s now, they’re still going strong lol
Walmart employees shop at Walmart not for any love for the company but out of necessity – capitalism simply doesn’t allow for equal representation.

The show is not the same without Ana. Welcome back!
“Those biscuits, that fuckin’ chicken, jeezum lord mercy!”
I’ve missed you guys together, welcome back Anna! Congrats
Don’t worry, Cenk. I make a concerted effort to not patronize Chick-fil-A. I stand with you #StrongerTogether

With Ana and Cenk together again they should rename Hour Two:
The Charge of the “Right” Brigade. ;)
little old, but Chick Fil A boycott invoked some changes

You are winning with that graphic
For one second I thought Ana was offended by Cenk’s language and was jokingly punishing him for it. Poor fly got the wrath of Casper…
Still standing strong with the chickfila boycott!
I’ve been watching this show since 2008, and Ana up and smacking Cenk with a paper out of nowhere is the single most surreal moment I’ve ever seen.

Did they notice that the swastika is backwards in that pic?

Oops, wrong reply here, I wanted to reply to Dirk one post above.

And, as always, if this is totally mistaken or offense to anyone, my apologies.
