that’s true. And if you have a mind control device and you can get all of them to do that, this would be relevant. Since you don’t, and people will not be voting like this, you’re not actually making any kind of point. If everyone suddenly bought one brand of deodorant, that would make that deodorant the only deodorant, as no one else could compete. If everyone on earth jumped up at the same time, or if everyone decided to kill themselves at once, lots of things can happen if you just fantasize about everyone doing something. They won’t do that, so it’s pointless to say it.
Earlier today a friend fell down at home and cut his head pretty bad so I took him to the emergency room and thank goodness he will be fine. (Headaches, back pain, but nothing permanent.)
After it all settled down I joked about taking a pic of his head and posting it as a Trump supporter being attacked by a copy of the Constitution. A nearby nurse heard me and proudly proclaimed she is voting for Trump. It wasnt nice, but I couldnt help laughing. Then she said the “liberal media” was lying to the world and Trump will win by big numbers because he is ahead in all the swing states. I responded with a simple question:
“If Trump is so well loved in swing states and the US in general, why did he pull his entire campaign out of Virginia?”
She actually responded by asking when his campaign pulled out of Virginia.
After telling her well over a week she tried to ignore VA and said he was beating Clinton in Ohio and Florida. I then made it clear Clinton and Trump supporters are equally ridiculous in my view so she could not ignore the question by invoking Clinton. Once again I asked if Trump was so well loved why did he pull out of a swing state and she said she didnt know.
It was a microscopic but perfect example of political idiocy. People are so self absorbed and padded by echo chambers it doesnt even bother them when they dont know where their own candidate is and is not campaigning.
Yeah, agree with much of that, except for one thing (and it’s a big one): that nurse was at least enthusiastic and energetic enough to not only barge into someone else’s conversation but to do it as a nurse barging into a patient’s conversation. Would you have done that? There is a potential personal and/or professional price to be paid for such actions, and to her credit she was ready to pay it.
That energy and conviction? That is a component of what true politics is made of. If popular/populist energy like that isn’t on your side, or if you can’t redirectthat energy to serve your own causes…then your side is really just making time while it is gradually retreating.
Put differently: even if Trump loses the election, it’s guaranteed that there will be another Trump after Trump, possibly worse than the current Trump. And if there isn’t any leftwing populism to counter those energies, then rightwing populism will keep rising and rising.
Her enthusiasm was appreciated but seemed hollow because she cowered when she could not answer the VA campaign question. She may have recoiled out of embarrassment but if she and I had the exact same dialogue on line she probably would have stuck around more, even if to only call me an idiot.
Not sure why, but I am simply unable to hear a Trumpie defending their vote on MAGA line when they make it a point to say America was great before Obama, and not see that centered around racism or at least playing a factor.
Do think internalization has driven some of the insecurity in Trumpies to rally by him because consciously or not, a lot of them cannot freely identify as a proud American with an African American President.
Have no idea if you watch the American Horror Story anthologies but in “The Coven” Kathy Bates plays a racist southerner who spent over a hundred years in the ground without dying thanks to a magic spell from an African American. She gets released from the tomb and is watching tv, freaked out by that magical box but her reaction to seeing Obama as president brutally and accurately depicts an almost perfect caricature of many Americans. She felt scared and angry from racist induced cognitive dissonance and she was faced with indisputable evidence she was wrong about racism but too proud for an admission.
In regard to the Fred and Donald Trump story of their discriminating against that black lady and others, I mean from a business standpoint, this lady filled out a application, professionally and they denied her because her skin is a different colour? If I was trying to rent out apartments, I would welcome any customers interested. That would make their business stronger right? What the fuck is wrong with people.
Hillary was raised as Southern Republican, hence her “super predators have to be brought to heel” comment. By her nature, she is just as or even more racist than Trump. The difference is that she has pivoted from being Republican to Democrat in 1970s for political reasons. She has supported discrimination policies against women and minorities in Walmart, she has supported social security reform of her husband William that attacked women and minorities, she has supported the crime reform that attacked minorities. She has done incomparably more harm to black people and women than all Trumps ever did.
So yes, while Trump’s old-school business racism of 1970s/early 1980s is bad, and that stop and frisk policies are horrible so Trump is the worst among the two candidates, you can not say it without mentioning how bad Clinton was and still (her economy policies) is for minorities, including her implicit support for stop and frisk in the face of Bloomberg.
Why are you talking about Hillary Clinton? I didn’t even mention her name or the current election. When I am talking about Trump and his fathers racism in a story where again Hillary Clinton is not a part of, I am not obliged to link it to the election or talk about an unrelated person in my thought and stop trying force me too.
Sorry, I did not phrase it right: the part about mentioning Hillary in such discussions was meant to be not about you, but about Cenk’s coverage of the story.
That is fucking ridiculous. She used the term “superpredator” because hundreds of people were using it at the time. It was a huge part of the racist policy that was that crime bill. Hillary Clinton is a corporatist, a neoliberal, and a professional politician. She’s not a cartoon villain, and she is absolutely 100% not as racist as Trump. She adopts the common buzzwords and political speech of her time, then and now. She has speechwriters that do this as well. The term is horribly racist, because the times were and are, and the policy was deliberately targeting people of color, as were many other Clinton policies in the 90’s. The Clintons were triangulating for white working class racists that are all in Trump’s camp now. There were more of them then. You have to stop focusing on individual personalities and look at the power structures to understand how things work. People exist in contexts. You can’t say that because of the limited history you know about them and the region of their birth, you can therefore define them. Lyndon Johnson was a segregationist who went on to become a powerful voice for civil rights. I hate having to defend Hillary Clinton, since I hate her, but the comments here are starting to get so childishly stupid and comically uninformed, it has to be answered or TYT won’t be worthwile at all and will become some kind of rabid Breitbart site where facts have zero meaning or sway.
Republicans used the “super predator” terms, Southern Democrats, converted from Republicans such as Hillary did, but not much of everybody else. Racism to Hillary is just as immanent and inbred as in Trump; the difference in her favour is that she tries to fights it much better than Trump with all kinds of his bigotries.
But the sheer amount of harm Hillary has inflicted upon the USA and the rest of the world by her “experience” totally warrants of some people’s characterisations of her as a villain (though it would not be my term, I do not operate within such categories). And with some of her antics like speaking on how “super predators” need to be brought to “heel”, the maniacal laughter after the news that Qaddafi was raped by a knife by the USA-armed terrorists from Al-Qaeda branch of Libya, and the pleasure she was emanating as she was threatening to nuke Iran, Hillary might seem not only a villain, but exactly a cartoonish villain as she is a literal sociopath: she is not socially aware, she does not understand what other people might see and feel hearing what she says, seeing how she behaves herself. SNL’s depiction of her in this regard is probably the best piece of political satire I have seen, ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXdNYXMQoy8 — amazingly on point.
That said, of course, Trump might be even easier to perceive as a cartoonish villain.
Don’t vote for Trump at all costs.
Also, don’t vote for the candidate that represents your ideals & issues.
Also, don’t make a Protest Vote.
Also, don’t NOT vote.
So, by process of elimination, I have NO CHOICE and MUST vote for the Clinton Foundation, uh I mean the War Machine, uh I mean .
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again … I bet half the US could stay home & not vote (oh wait, that already happens every election) and $he will STILL be elected. Everyone could stay home and $he will still win.
Because the Corporate Oligarchy has already decided that $he is president.
Believe me, if $he was in any real danger of not becoming president, SCOTUS would break their OWN ruling and would overturn the election somehow (AGAIN) and install $hillary.
You don’t think they would???
What don’t people get about that?
So why does anyone care whether Progressives vote for Her or not?
any vote not for Trump is essentially a vote for the winner, Hillary
vote your conscience, unless your conscience wants to vote for Trump
than get your conscience checked to find out what condition you are in
I don’t care if you vote for her or not as long as Donald Trump doesn’t win, but I would have said that no matter who the Republican choice is. It’s because of the Republican agenda, which will pass if there’s a Republican president, any Republican president. So, vote for whoever you want. You’re one vote. It’s totally meaningless. Nothing is going to be won by one vote. But if you’re someone with a large audience and your influencing millions of people in a swing state, then I care, because the democratic party is absolutely terrible and I hate them, but the Republican party is worse. We already know we’re at a dead tie in the supreme court, and the house will stay Republican no matter what, because of 2010. The Senate and the executive branch are all that’s on the table right now, and if 2018 is anything like previous midterms, whether the democrats take the senate or not, they’ll lose it in 2 years. So in 2 years, if next year, or two years from now, if there’s not a democrat in the white house, it’s full Republican agenda across the board. If they take the senate, we have two years to pressure them into making some kind of progressive reforms, and then we lose it.
While many of the real progressives throw their hands up and have endless whine sessions about who should have won, who had what stolen, or how voting for what makes you feel good has anything to do with anything real, Elizabeth Warren is already shooting warning shots across Clinton’s bow with her potential appointments and cabinet picks. Bernie Sanders is out there trying to get down ballot progressives elected, pushing back against monopoly mergers, and trying to get things ready for the fight ahead. They are also working with the Clinton team to get her elected, so they have a chance of doing anything. And meanwhile, idiot progressive assholes are whining about nonsense, calling Sanders and Warren sellouts, and bitching and moaning and doing absolutely nothing real, and using absurd childish money sign symbols instead of S’s in the comments they make.
The sulfur cloud story immediately made me think of Jimmy Dore’s vid on “Why?” It explains in a quick 13+mins how far back the CIA w/US Gov’s AOK has been fucking up the Middle East.
The US create Al Qaeda. The US create ISIS.
We, along with our international corporate overlords, have made this ENTIRE mess.
Oil. Oil, oil, military industrial complex, oil, oil … $$$$$$$$.
But, don’t worry, as Benichael likes to say, “Hillary’s not crazy. She’s not going to do anything stupid.”
Not unless Her donors tell Her to.
Oh wait, we’ve found out thru Wikileaks that $he doesn’t give a shit what we think.
I would bet they already have war plans drawn up for Syria, Iran, Russia, etc, etc.
…although personally I prefer “Shurmank”. As with the Sherman, they’re fighting in the “tank” but unfortunately they’re often sitting in the Establishment’s tank.
Please discuss the Yazidis, especially the female Yazidis who have been held in northern Iraq as sex slaves by ISIS since August 2014. Over 3200 girls and women still enslaved, and what is happening to them during these battles? Is there any plan to rescue them? Does anyone other than the Yazidis care about the fate of these female humans?
It is safe to surmise that the only fighters in the conflict who really care about their fate are the secular, socialist factions like the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party). These groups are 1) secular (so they don’t care about the Yazidis having a supposedly “satanist” religion) and 2) are composed of relatively high numbers of FEMALE fighters (up to 50% on some battlefields).
The PKK are a terrorist racist militia who just happen to be secular, you know, just like the SS. Check out their good work in Turkey back in the 80s and 90s as well as the last year. The pro-PKK party lost half the Kurdish vote in the last GE in Turkey at a higher turnout because of their support of the PKK.
Anyway, in the spirit of transparency and journalism I hope TYT covers the US armed Iranian backed shia militias who just liberated 700 Sunni men and boys from their lives during the battle of Fallujah not far from the US Habbaniyah AFB (where US Apaches covered their advance) and the 20000 Sunnis who were liberated from their homes in Kirkuk by the peacenik socialist/secular also US armed kurds not to mention the US armed socialist secular PYD who liberated Tell Abyad from 150000 of its Arabs and blocked their escape to Turkey so they went to the only place that accepted them, Raqqah.
None of this is relevant to the original poster’s question: “Which factions care the most about the victimization of the Yazidis?” The answer is still “groups like the PKK”. This doesn’t negate anything else about those groups, or their history in Turkey, but it is the objective answer to that question.
> not to mention the US armed socialist secular PYD who liberated Tell Abyad from 150000 of its Arabs and blocked their escape to Turkey so they went to the only place that accepted them, Raqqah.
Obviously I agree that this was the right thing to do, but when did happen again? I can’t place it chronologically.

Sinn Fein MPs are elected but do not sit in parliament because of the loyalty oath and they were always been elected even during the troubles. And they are still terrorists because they effectively protect the criminal elements of the IRA who are still active in NI from within government and threaten to stop peace whenever the police prosecute high level criminals.
As for Mandela, as far as I know he was never directly involved in the murder of civilians, advocated such acts or ordered them but if that was true he would be a terrorist.
Not all kurdish groups are bad or terrorist but a lot are and the US can use its leverage to stop them but it doesn’t and either that is stupid or deliberate and will not end well.
thank for you for the end. Very few speak out for us. Its hard to walk walk around know that in your heart of hearts your second class no matter what u do. To be hated for no real reason. The Europeans brought us here to build the foundation of their country, then before England could end slavery in the colonies they actually fought a war over it.(the REVOLUTIONARY WAR!) But i cried with that woman to trump denied the apartment to. To be black or brown is to be inferior in every way. I hate it. I just wannabe someplace i can be who i am without feeling like a member of a conquered and despised people.

thank you thank you fucking thank you for the Indiana voter registration raid story
In many places you only need your government ID to be registered to vote. Once they issue it when you become of age, boom, you are allowed to vote.
Of course it is because of African Americans that they do not feel this a pressing agenda
“former” Speaker Gingrich resigned the both the Speaker position and the House in the face of an ethics violation investigation, he’s a pus bag
Volume is good!!!!! THANKYOU :)

I’ve been pushing third party vote and happy to report that many people agree, here where I live.
Hillary will win California without our votes. But if the Greens get 5% it will be a huge financial boost in the next election.
That would be the ONE good thing that can come from casting a vote in this election.

A great deal has been written about the female fighters of such groups, such as this article: “Female fighters of the PKK may be the Islamic State’s worst nightmare”.
http://www.stripes.com/female-fighters-of-the-pkk-may-be-the-islamic-state-s-worst-nightmare-1.300259

Obviously I agree that this was the right thing to do, but when did happen again? I can’t place it chronologically.
This happened from last summer till this spring under the watchful eye of the 2000 US advisers who advised against sending 5000 young impressionable young men to Isisland but did nothing:
http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2015/10/syria-turkey-right-groups-accused-kurds-rojava-of-war-crimes.html
And once a terrorist always a terrorist is proven by what has been happening lately when the favourite secular group in the middle East started oppressing Christians after running out of Sunni Arabs:
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/revisiting-kurdish-tolerance-ypg-attacks-assyrian-militia/
Thanks! I’d forgotten about that.
> And once a terrorist always a terrorist
Really? If that were true, there would still be war in Northern Ireland right now, and Sinn Féin wouldn’t have sitting MPs in the British Parliament. Also Nelson Mandela would still be in jail. And so on, and so forth. :)
